"Could access the network location:.."

I get the "could access the network location:. «error with installing and uninstalling of programs, i.e. iTunes, Quicktime.»»
I checked the Internet and found registry patches, but they have not worked for me. I tried the Fix It program in one of the solutions, not good.  I also stop my firewall and anti-virus and tried to install it that way. no go.

I have Windows XP, SP3

any suggestions?

I thought about it... have an external hard drive which I usually turned off when the use not. I tried to install everything with it on and it worked.
Thanks for your help

I tried to install the drivers for a more BearPaw 2448TA scanner in the edition of Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).

Recently, a message appeared in the center of the Action to say that a new driver of Mustek systems was available, I downloaded and tried to install.

This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry.

If the problem persists try the steps and check them off below.

You can create a system restore before trying the steps below in order to be on the safer side.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-restore-point

The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.  Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.

Here are the steps to fix it.
    1. click on start, run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
    2. look for the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\
3 remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.

If the steps above did not resolve your problem, then you can try to create a new user account and check.

  • Error 1606 could access the network location

    Zac,
I have exactly the same problem and it appears so when I tried to install the student version of Microsoft Office and update Java and updated vesion of Adobe.  I found the Article ID: 886549 on the Microsoft Support site, but it was confusing.  It tells you that you must change the registry.  I can do it, but the first statement shown on the print are actually for Windows XP and NOT Vista.  You must go to the second page and find the Vista fix.  I followed the instructions for Visat and then you get to a second registry key that needs to change.  This time there is only a set of instructions and comparing to my values of Vista it show that my system was COMPLETELY different from those I had to enter.  My concern is that the second key values were also means ofr XP and not vista.  Can you help me?

I made the following changes to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software. Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Version Shell thank you, Hangels777

    Hello Hangels777,

Thank you for posting.  I would say that you haven't try any change of registry which is meant for XP.  This error is due to Java and probably the Adobe update.  I recommend you to manually check for the latest versions of Java and flash player.  You may need to uninstall and reinstall to the problem must be resolved.

Please, try the following steps and let me know if this helps you. Zack

  • Network discovery, file sharing settings keep changing by itself and Alltel to set the network location continues to ask the wireless device

former title: network location settings. Discovery of NW. File sharing. public folder sharing. AVG 9.0 'tools' and network connections.

My Alltel Wireless device again set the network location. And continues to change my network settings for the discovery of NW to:, as well as file sharing for: file public and sharing: read-only.  I have AVG Security 9.0 and under 'tools' and connections network shows several svchost with States reading service connections listening and unknown. I don't want no access to my computer and cannot find any computer consultants who can get this to stop. What can I do?

    Hello

    1. the options apply automatically on?
    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?
    3. have you installed any Alltel Wireless application to manage network connections?
    4. What is the current network location type on? Is it home, work or public?
Network discovery and file sharing settings depend on the network location. For examle, if you set the network as a public location it turn on file sharing.  So I would ask you to turn all the parameters and then choose the type of network and check if the parameters change again.

    Method 1.
I recommend you to check if the problem exists in clean boot. May be a third party application is causing these changes.
See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2.
Also check the settings under tools in AVG security suite. You may need to check with the help of AVG on it.
Or you can disable the antivirus software and check if that causes this behavior.
Temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and check if the problem persists.
    Disable the anti-virus software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    I hope this helps.

So, you have problems writing to a published network shared Variable? You might be able to solve this by using the software manager system OR distributed. By using this software, you should be able to see all the network published static Variables that are hosted on this computer and all other computers on the network. You can try to modify these variables using this software. If you have the same problems with the variables shared by using this software, then this probably means that there are problems with the network in general as a firewall blocking the communication.

You can check if you have this by navigating to start > all programs > National Instruments > Distributed System Manager. If you do not already have it, you can download it here: http://www.ni.com/download/ni-distributed-system-manager-2013/4216/en/.

This knowledge base article may contain useful advice on how you might approach this problem: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/6E37AC5435E44F9F862570D2005FEF25?OpenDocument

  • Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2

I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.

I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.

Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly.  Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.

If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.

Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting

After more work, I was able to solve my problem.  Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares.  As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting.  Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.
