Network of Cisco 1140 Standalone AP "guest."

I think the purchase of the stand-alone version of the AP of 1140, (AIR-AP1142N-x-K9-bi-bande Standalone 802.11a/g/n). My question is can I install a network of 'guest' with these conditions:

  1. Subnet separated, gets dhcp from the AP.
  2. No configuration of the DMZ on the firewall.
  3. No access to other subnets, internet only.
  4. You need a VLAN?

Thanks in Advace for your help!

L. Mace

  1. Subnet separated, gets dhcp from the AP.   Yes, this could be done, just need to configure a scope on the AP, may support ip take for IP of the AP management.
  2. No configuration of the DMZ on the firewall.  Don't necessarily need the DMZ, but you'll have to leave the new subnet to cross
  3. No access to other subnets, internet only.  not a problem, ACL to the L3 device.
  4. You need a VLAN?  Yes.

See you soon,.

  • Copy the ios from Cisco 1140 AP

Salvation; I'm working on the Cisco 1140 AP which is loaded with a slight IOS. I need to change the IOS in standalone version. I managed to enter the configuration mode and tried to use tftp to copy the IOS to the camera flash. but the Unit periodically (in fact all the 1 minute) attempted to display the IP by connecting to DHCP. even I assigned static IP address, but after a minute, it changed its method to allocate using DHCP, because it says to get configuration from a controller. TFTP works well, but in the Middle, change IP stop the copy process. How can I copy independent IOS for the flash on the camera?

In my view, increasing the IP address getting timer will leave me to start and complete the process of copy from the TFTP server. But how can I do this? is there a solution to stop the device to periodically change its IP address? TNX.

  • Cisco Aironet 1140 Standalone AP

Greetings. For some time I'm looking for bargains from a class wireless access point. I narrowed down it to the stand-alone Cisco Aironet 1140 (no controller). I'm no stranger to Cisco products. I worked with the routers, switches and firewalls Pix / ASA. However, I did not have the opportunity to work with their wireless access point I hope that someone here who has experience using these AP (more precisely the autonomous 1140), can provide information on the reliability and safety of these devices. Some of the features that I would like to have as Mgmt. Radio and Rogue AP Detection I see are only available on the controller base units. Do not have these features on the autonomous unit reduced its reliability and safety? It's for a small business and the budget does not drop to a controller at this time. Thank you!

The 1140's are a good choice for standalone 802.11n. Regarding reliability and safety, it would be identical to a lightweight AP. you can use different types of encryption as well as using 802.1 x. You will not not reliable detection functions or management of radio since these are autonomous.

    Thank you

  • Setting up a network of Cisco E2000 comments without Cisco Connect software

Can someone describe to me how I can install an additional SSID for a wireless network of comments that my friends can use? I don't see where in the administration tool (by connecting 192.168.1.1) where I can do.  I see in the wireless section where I can install my main SSID (which I did not publish), but I don't see an alternative to setting up a guest SSID.

I understand that they can do with the software of Cisco Connect, but for some reason, it is not recognize my router.

I think that the guest access feature is available through Cisco connect to E2000, and cannot be enabled or configured through the Web of the router utility. You need to reset the router first for him to recognize and reinstall the software successfully. Also average you must redo the settings for your primary network which is part of the Cisco wireless connect installation process.

  • Comments Win XP cannot connect to the network when Cisco VPN works on Mac

Guest OS (Win XP) on the merger connects to the network, no problem. However, when I start a Cisco VPN on my Mac (not in the guest operating system) and then start Fusion/guest OS, the guest cannot connect to the network.

I was able to use this configuration for a year on an old MacBook Pro (unibody). Last month, I got a new MacBook Pro and flying over my virtual machine image. I don't check for a few weeks. I'm sure I fly over the image correctly because everything else seems OK or if the IT guys doing something to block my traffic over the VPN.

    Config

    -Fusion - Version 3.1.0 (261 058)

So far, I have tried the following

-started to merge and XP without VPN on Mac - OK (bridge autodetect)

-launched VPN to work, and then launched Fusion - no network

-tried ipconfig/release, ipconfig / renew - not always no network

-tried NAT - do always no network

Thanks in advance. For any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

The NAT value and then restart the virtual machine.  Works for me with the VPN client built into a cisco router.

Do not work the real on 10.6.4 cisco software unless you really need to.

  • Cisco 1532E standalone (bypass + Access Client)

    Hi all.

I need to connect two places separated from 300 meters and I also need access to the wireless client.

My idea is to use two Cisco 1532 (in stand-alone mode) with antennas directional 5 GHz to fill and Omni 2, 4 GHz antennas for wireless in both clients.

My problem is that the deployment guide does not refer to this implementation (standalone + bridge + wireless clients); the deployment guide is located in the following link http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/7-6/b_1532_dg/b_1532_dg_chapter_01.html#topic_5C2E00D8A63A462AAC6F0A0DC629FBDF

Can anyone confirm if this is a supported scenario?

    Thank you

    João Carvalho.

Each radio is configured separately one from the other, so you re the 5 GHz as bridge and the 2.4 ghz as the root of station, the client access role.  You can refer to any stand-alone for bridge (root and non-root) configuration and client access guide.

Here's an older doc, you can refer:

  • How to add 2nd network of MS 2 k 3 Guest OS

I've migrated MS 2 k 3 servers to ESX.  When they came to a physical server we had configured the NPI as NIC is associated.  After the conversion, the NIC team has been disconnected... I have configured the address IP address (on one of the two network cards) and the server works very well.

.. so here are my questions...

Even if I can configure/add multiple NICs at the prompt, what is the purpose?

How can I enjoy the physical use of the ESX multiple NICs on the guest operating system?

Improve the guest operating system network IO?

BTW, I have 6 network interface cards physical on the host... all are NIC 1 G. Only the network MGT is configured with 2 network cards and a static IP address.

    Thank you!

I couldn't find anything on the Association in the comments. They only talk about consolidation level vSwitch (Switch as a whole or by port groups).

What should be the benefit of grouping within a guest? There is no restriction of bandwidth on the LAN speed. This applies only to the vSwitch when there the physical NETWORK adapter and a vNIC so breaking fault tolerance is also unnecessary.

That in the comments is not supposed could also be the reason why the drivers for VMware Tools for the vNIC seems no longer to support the team. At least I saw a facility where it runs successfully.

  • Problem guest network

I've recently reconfigured my network as follows:

Modem > router Netgear FVS318G > two airports in mode bridged (by Ethernet cable) another joined the network for AirPlay.

The guest network problems DHCP configuration. My first thought was to turn it off. However, when I turn off the toggle, the network remains around. Ideally, I would like to configure a VLAN 2 so that the client's network could still be used (primary wifi I want on the VLAN 1) but if this cannot be done, so how can I turn off the radio comments!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The airport network comments feature will not work properly unless your router 'first' AirPort is set up for DHCP and NAT.  The comments feature does not work when the first or main airport is configured in Bridge Mode.

Once the 'main' airport set up to do DHCP and NAT, then it is possible to build another airport 'downstream' of the first and extend the functionality of comments like that.

If your two airports must remain in Bridge Mode... (they will probably stay in bridge, since you already have another router upstream, and you probably don't want to mess with the complications of a NAT Double error on the network), then you can disable comments on the routers of the airport.

'How' you do this depends on the version of AirPort utility that you use to administer airports.  Please open AirPort Utility, click on the menu of AirPort Utility in the upper left of the screen, and then click the AirPort Utility.  After back with the version number that you see here.  Example is below:

  • Build a private network between two physical hosts in ESXi 4.0 for VM guests

    Hi all

I am a newbie in the use of VMWare ESXi for my company testings and I have a question on networks

in ESXi. In fact, I always do my tests in my VMware Workstation, and it's pretty easy to build a virtual

private network between two guests of computer virtual and it needed to do more real testings on ESXi environment.

But now I have two Dell servers mounted and with two ESXi 4.1 installed on these servers.

Each server has two network cards connected to the same network switch.

In this essay, I have to install a RAC Oracle 11 g as guests of virtual computer on two separate server Dell for

    two RAC nodes.

The installation Guide for the PAP, I need to build a network between two nodes.

My superficial knowledge network, the private network address is not the same as

the public network address, in this case, the IP address provided by the network switch is

10.1.10.X and it should be public network address.

In this case, how can I do the private network of ESXi settings?

I do the settings of the network switch? I'm not the guy of networking and really

want your expertise in this area.

If you have an idea or experience to share, please kindly help.

    Thank you very much

Yes, that's correct. It would have made you have a private network layer 3 between the two guests in the 192.168.1.x address range.

In general, you also want to isolate a layer 2 (ethernet) with the VLANS on the physical switch, but if this is not possible at this time then it could be implemented now and you could later add VLAN in the switch.

It is also the reason why I think you should create a new portgroup on the same vSwitch as other existing exchanges. If you later configure VLAN to the physical switch, it will be very easy to activate this on the "private" portgroup
