My folders and files stuck in read-only

It would be useful that you told us how you know that they are stuck in "read only".
For files, right clicking and selecting 'Properties' will reveal a "Read only" checkbox  Unlike what seems obvious, this box has nothing to do with a property read-only on a folder

"You can not view or change the read-only or the attributes of system files in Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7"

The files are another matter.  How do you know that it is read-only and what you have tried to change it?  You have XP Home or Pro? Is active Simple file sharing?  What is the location of the files with that you have problems?  Error messages?

  • After XP to upgrade file Windows 7 stuck in read-only State.

Upgraded from XP Home to Win 7 Home Premium. Number of records is stuck in read-only State. I tried what is obvious: clic click on folder, uncheck the read-only and apply to all folders/subfolders. Also, went to security and gave to all users and groups full control to the folder and all its subfolders. But still the read-only State. Only one user has been setup on the computer, and the user has full administrative privileges.

Same problem for me, I have tried everything suggested above, except that the suggestion of WilliamJE and was still stuck. (I don't really understand the suggestion of WilliamJE.)

I think I've solved the problem for me but by following these steps:

-Open 'properties' on the higher level folder to edit attributes

    -Click on "security" tab.

    -Click on "advanced".

    -Click on "change permissions".

    -Click on 'Add '.

Enter "Everyone" in the dialog box "enter the object name to select.

    -Click on "check names".

    -Click OK

-Click on "full control" under the "allow" column

    -Click OK

-Click on the box (turn on) 'replace all permissions of child object with permissions inheritable of this object.

    -Click OK

-confirm the type "are you sure" messages that appear along the way

and you should be set! Phew!

  • Files on a share network stuck as 'read only' to put the computer to sleep.

By necessity, I use my 98 computer windows that the file server since tempting to access any shares of Vista will cause Windows 9 X to crash. It is already used as a print from the Vista computer server does not have a parallel port.

I worked on a Microsoft Word document and subject to frequent interruptions. When I put the computer to sleep before walking away from the keyboard, it isn't properly disconnect the Win98 system. Wake up to the computer, I am unable to save office documents, because they are locked for editing.

In addition, sometimes even after I close Word or Excel, the system is not disconnected. Even when I stopped all other computers, the Win98 system reports that there are still users connected to the system when I go to stop him so. Is it possible to force the Vista computer to disconnect all network connections before you put it to sleep or stopping then the Win98 system recognizes that no one is online and that all the files will be closed?

I really don't want to have to close a document that I am in the middle of working on when I have to walk away from the keyboard, but this seems the only solution to the problem. Leaving open is the main reason that I put the computer to sleep rather than stop it. Recording locally is not really a good option because I want files stored in one place, and Vista Home Premium does not support synchronized folders.

Any suggestions? I already use the Briefcase feature to save documents on a flash drive, do I have to use the drive in question and transfer it to the server through network disks? This seems to beat the goal of a network.

The affected systems are Windows 98 Second edition and Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium =.

    Hello

Win 98 is a former client OS, server to call (or any other OS cleint) is nice, but this does not mean that they can be found on a peer-to-peer network and behave like a real server.

Under this situation (using Win 98 for a server) it is not advisable to change the files over the network. First copy them to the Vista Edit computer and then synchronize. Return using one of the many free synchronization applications that work on most of the windows releases.

    Example, http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Allway_Sync/allwaysync.html

There is no judgment of network functionality, if the Application is enabled and go to sleep while a file is open on Win 98 it will stay open. Closing the file needs to be done by the application.

  • Does not connect to internet, stuck on "identification". Help!

So I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.  Dell Studio XPS since a few years back.  Great machine.  Don't know what caused that the internet disconnected the other night and I can't get on the internet, wired or wireless.  It says 'identification' when I opened for the network and sharing Center.  I did a restore of the system, disabled and re-enabled the network card and read a lot on the internet and nothing... Nothing seems to work.  Reinstall the ONLY fix I found on the Web pages that seems to work is a complete system, which I would really rather not do!  Thank you!  I'm not very good with these machines, but HUMANS rely on them, and I'm kinda screwed until I get this puppy operational return.  Any help you can lend would be greatly appreciated!

  • lower right window stuck with sound only

Hello! I am a novice with first. I'm stuck with it: I don't know what happened, but I don't see the 'sound' in the lower right window. How to return to film sequences?

(visually, it's only two large green bars that moves under the sound effect)

    Thank you very much!!

Find your sequence in the project Panel, and then double-click it.

  • Pavilion dv6700: white screen permanently after connecting to the projector (stuck in "projector only" mode)

    Hello community,

    Here is what happened:

I have connected my laptop to a TV via HDMI and set the display option to show the "projector only" in the Panel.

The fn functions do not work and have never been, probably because I, at some point, off the never installed or quick launch buttons driver after the transition from Vista to Win7.

With the TV still plugged, I closed the laptop.

Now, when my device is restarted, the screen remains black.

Connect to the same or other TV sets via HDMI won't show 'no signal' on the TV.

Connection to an external display or projector via VGA will show either no signal.

So I presume this must be the source parameter, which would need to be changed back, but I have no idea how to do that blindly. Anyone got any ideas how I could solve this problem?

I thank very you much in advance!

Fixed drawing of one of the two RAM Modules. Just like that.

Hope this can help others to solve the problem.

    What has not helped:

    • Permutation of these two RAM modules and then start.
    • Reset the BIOS by pressing the keys Windows + B while pressing the power button.
    • From the BIOS menu by (several times) by pressing f8 or f10
    • Pressing on the power while pressing fn + f4 button
    • Let start normally and then by pressing Windows key + P
    • Choose different start-up options blindly with the arrow keys and enter

  • HP Deskjet 2540 - documents stuck in print only

I have a paper stuck in printing on my HP Deskjet 2540. I am running Windows 8.1 and this printer works wirelessly. I tried to remove and cancel and nothing happens. I can't print anything. How can I fix?

    Helen

    Hi Helen,

From the desktop, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run window, type services.msc and press to enter.  Scroll down to the print spooler service, right click and select Properties, then click the Stop button.  Now search for C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS, then delete the work inside this folder - you may need to click a command prompt to get the authority to open the PRINTERS folder.

Restart the computer and you should find that the document has been deleted.

    Kind regards

    Hello

Your S50T-a Satellite seems to bear a Touchpad with some additional features such as click pad with gestures multitouch control supporting the different features of scroll, zoom and launch at hand.
You can disable this and other features
    Control Panel-> mouse-> setting-> setting button tab

  • Unable to connect, 'Local only' for a few days now

Approximately every 2 months home my computer Windows Vista unable to connect to my network.  I get the Local only and in the area of the network it is stuck on "identification" and will never stop.  I rebooted, reset the router and the modem, etc..   This usually lasts for days then it pops up right back on and it's fine.  Any ideas I can do if I don't have to wait days for it to reconnect?   Thank you.

    > Ken - Support Engineer: you can try another card network (wired) to this computer?
I contacted my OEM. The Ethernet chip is based on the motherboard and cannot be replaced without replacing the motherboard.

My OEM suggested to reinstall the drivers or a system restore before SP2 or wipe the laptop and re - install Windows.

I tried reinstalling the drivers, nothing works. When I have more time, I am considering a system restore before SP2. If I wipe Windows I'll probably install XP Pro instead. I am completely sick of Blista.

Another difference I found between Networking in Safe Mode and Normal Mode is the failure of the (spldr) security processor loader driver; It fails in the former mode, but is OK in this last mode. I sent the error report to Microsoft via the reports of problem and Solutions for your reading.

I have problems streaming music to my Sony Home Theater System.

Streaming in Windows media player 12 is on and I can see the Sony theater system in my network map but when I look at my Media Player properties, there is no IP or Mac address.  Is this normal?

Also the Sony identifies only my Vista computer as a server available.
Ideas to solve the problem would be very appreciated.  Thanks in advance

    Good afternoon

I'm really happy because I found a solution to my problem WMP/DNLA.
It is then a home cinema DLNA see a computer on the network and Windows Media Player 'play to' gives the message: unable to extract information about the media on the media server.
Where there are people who have always had the same problem, I suggest you follow the following instructions, that work but I don't know why.
    Select:
    1 Control Panel
    2 system and security
    3 administrative tools
    4 services
Now in the list you must stop:
    1 WMP network sharing service
    2 Service UpNp device host
    Next reboot:
    1 Service UpNp device host
    2 WMP network sharing service

The system now gives a try.  It worked for me.  My home theater can see my laptop Windows 7 and I can use the feature of "play to" WMP to push music for home theater.

I found this solution after a lot of internet research, but I lost the link so I can't credit the author. But you know who you are.  Thank you.

  • Connects to my router Dlink D110, but do not print

First, I changed the settings on the Dlink WAP2 of WEP. This has allowed at least the printer connect to my network. However, the printer does not appear in my network places.  When I try to print, the document is in the queue.  In the Panel, it shows offline. Also, the wireless on the printer button turns only from time to time when he tap, and the LCD seems to be stuck on language only.

The printer works if I use the USB connection, but this isn't what I want. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

You shouldn't have to not either if you use WEP.  It isn't safe.  If you cannot connect to your router, try this first before replace WPA2:

    1. make sure that your router has updated firmware and a fresh reboot.

    2. make sure that you are broadcasting your SSID and not using MAC filtering.

    3. ensure that 802.11 g is present and configured to use channel 1 or 11.

If this does not work, change from WPA2 to WPA.  Don't use WEP.

  • Wireless Mouse 5000 does not work correctly when moved away from the transmitter.

I have the mouse as shown in the title with new batteries.
    Link: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/wireless-mouse-5000/MGC-00017
My installed OS Windows 7 x 64 SP1. A clean installed on the computer without additional software in the meantime.
When I connect the transmitter (2.4 ghz v7.0 model 1423) the mouse to the computer, it identifies only, and the mouse works.
In devices and printers, the transmitter is under indefinite and after installing IntelliPoint 8.2 64-bit for Windows 7, it remains the same.
Sometimes the mouse does not react on the screen, as it got stuck and moving in parts rather than sequentially. Including the mouse buttons that do not meet at the moment.
If I bring the mouse close to the transmitter, the problem goes away and it works fine.
After the test, no relation to the load on the processor, the problem appears randomly.
I tried to replace USB ports but no change, the problem goes away only if I put the mouse close to the transmitter.
