"Never remember history" allows to always "recently closed tabs".

I use permanent private browsing (i.e., selected "history never remember ' with 'always use private browsing mode' selected (and"accept cookies")), and still under 'History' tab 'Recently closed tabs' is always a viable option that shows where I've been.

Granted, is that before I close Firefox, but what I want is for tabs closed is no longer be registered or my recent history. I have tried with no Add-ons (in which case they were interfering) but same problem.

In case it isn't clear, here is an example: 2 tabs open, one of which is Google. I Google search for XYZ. Get my results, close the tab. At this point, I have a tab open and when I look at 'Story' 'recently closed tabs' option will show "Google: XYZ." I don't want at any time. I don't like where I've been and do not want to have to close / restart Firefox (or go through multilayer of choice for 'clear current history') to clear this information.

A way to do this? I use Firefox 8.0.1 on Windows 7 (starter).

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

To disable recently closed tabs, please follow these instructions.

Enter about: config in the address at the top of the Firefox window bar

Scroll down to "Browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo".

Right-click and change to 0 (zero)

    Bravo and thank you!

Make sure that you are not Firefox running in permanent private browsing mode (don't remember history).

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "use the custom settings for history".
    • : Uncheck the [] "always use the private browsing mode.

You can check . browser.sessionstore * prefs on the topic: config page and reset the browser.sessionstore prefs that are correct (in bold) user via the context menu in the default value to make sure that the Session Restore is enabled and functional.

  • How to recover lost months stored tabs and groups of picking "never remember history" and lose the "last sitting".

I just lost the previous months of the tabs in 3 groups of tabs by selecting "never remember history.» I was in horror when I opened the browser again and nothing was there. It all works.

Caught around and I created a new profile if new changes be change or overwrite old data so I might be able to recover. It's still in the default profile and I use FF in the newly created.

Please help me to recover the lost tabs and tag groups? Thank you very much. I'm on WinXP so there is no record of recovery, but I saw some things in App Data, tried to copy the entire folder to a profile in there, he had a lot of things but does not. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. But it is doubtful. I have always my favorites and Bookmark Bar. Maybe I copied it on, but the tabs are not coming.

Update, I unchecked 'use closed' option just now and he tried to restart but it became "no answer", but I leave the program tries to stop. But at least its data. Now to restore it without the browser crashing.

  • Why Personas do not work after the definition of "never remember history"?

I recently downloaded a light theme for Firefox on my Windows PC, but after I checked "don't remember history" (in Options > confidentiality) it does not show me the theme. If I uncheck, I still see the theme. While the option has been enabled, I clicked in the Add-ons > appearance and the theme has been activated.

Hello, this is a known problem light themes not shown when firefox is set to never remember history (alias always run in private browsing mode). This will be corrected in the next 21 firefox that will be released tomorrow.

  • Firefox guard handed himself to "never remember history" even if I say "use the custom settings for history".

Firefox seemed to work fine until yesterday. When I used Firefox yesterday, my home page was changed to Firefox start page and did not open my tabs from the day before. I went to settings and changed the homepage back to google.com and told to "use the custom settings for history". I closed Firefox and opened it again and my homepage was google.com, as I put it, but it was back to "never remember history". I tried several times, yesterday and today, but Firefox keeps affecting himself never "remember history".

Choose the 'use the settings customized for history' parameter is not make changes to the parameters of the history and cookies.

Firefox displays the "use the custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one story and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that the changes have been made.

If all the history settings are default, custom settings are hidden and see you "conservation rules: (never) don't forget history."

Don't remember history"means that private browsing is active and"Always use private browsing mode"Gets a check mark.

  • I can't see the 'recently closed tabs' and 'windows' recently closed in Firefox-> history. Where are they?

I use Firefox 4 Beta 3 and I can't see the 'recently closed tabs' and 'windows' recently closed in Firefox-> history. Where are they?

They do not appear on the history of the Firefox button entry, but they are always on the menu background traditional, accessible by pressing Alt and S.

Checking through some models of the Firefox button, it seems that he is expected to add to the option in the history of the Firefox button. Although there are probably differences, see this image for an idea of what the Firefox menu final button will look like at- https://bug583386.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=461697

  • Life using private > never remember history, breaks with the disqus twits

Latest version Firefox 42.0 broke it. Disqus comments people link Twitter messages inside. The image of these messages no longer appear. There is just an empty space. I found I could do work again going in Firefox Privacy settings and turning "remember history" back on. When I never use 'remember history' twitter 'image' is not climbed. Here is an example.

Hi nschm873, what you see is probably the new tracking feature of protection in incognito in action.
However, since this is completely optional, you can easily disable it in the section the Panel privacy options: disable the Tracking protection

  • stretch image in html background working if "never remember history" is selected

I have a problem that did not exist in previous versions of mozilla. I found the problem after you have installed the latest version and after setting ever "remember history" of firefox

The problem is related to the CSS code to stretch a background image to fit the screen. The background image does not stretch if "never remember history" is NOT defined. That part of the image is displayed and the rest of the background is black. I noticed first with my website www.missionbayhighalumni.com and subsequently found that the same problem also occurred with this site:
    http://www.htmlite.com/faq022.php or http://www.htmlite.com/faqEX004b.html

I created several test cases with very simple code, all had the problem. The background image extend tests of code all work for other browsers and even firefox if "never remember history" is not selected. It also seems to be intermittent.

Looking very good for me and all containers have a height: 100%, which is also OK.

You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.

You can't recover from this "forget" unless you have a backup of the files involved.

It has no lasting effect, so if come back you on such a 'forgotten' site, then the data of this Web site will be saved once more.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • Can't set up Firefox (29.0.1) "never remember history".

Attempting to set Firefox (29.0.1) to "never remember history" do not work. It boils down to "not forget history."

It is perhaps a problem with a corrupet file, try to go to your profile folder and rename or remove the file pref.js.

  • How to re - activate the functions 'Restore previous Session', "Recently closed tabs" and "Recently closed Windows" in the menu of history?

For some time, four choices in the restore section (tabs of other devices, Previous Session Restore recently closed tabs and recently closed Windows) have been shaded. Keyboard shortcuts do not work, and didn't undo closed tab in the context menu of the tab.

I found and tried various patches to do this, including:

    • From Firefox in Mode safe without addons.
    • Firefox reset.
    • Change the values of browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo in all: config.
    • Check to see if I have a user.js in profile Firefox. (I don't).
    • Verify that the private browsing is not the default mode. (It is not).
    • Create a profile to see if it had the same problem. (He did.)
    • Running anti-malware analysis. (BitDefender and SpyBot).
    • Temporarily disable my anti-virus and anti-malware.

Any of these solve my problems.

Other devices tab is grayed out, but I've never used, and it might have previously grayed out.

The story works in general. Sites I visit are added to the log.

Preferences are saved correctly when I change them.

Any advice on how to solve the problem would be much appreciated, as I am very fond of these features and often served until they stopped working.

    ADDITIVE

After that looking through the list of preferences of change created by the resolution of the problems, I tried now also reset the following text:

    • browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion
    • browser.newtabpage.storageVersion
    • Browser.cache.Disk.Capacity
    • Browser.cache.Disk.smart_size.first_run
    • Browser.cache.Disk.smart_size.use_old_max
    • Browser.cache.Disk.smart_size_cached_value

    The problem persists.

I finally managed to understand this. In searching the Web, I found a thread detailing a similar problem on the Mozillazine forum. The problem has been identified as a missing browser.sessionstore.enabled set, so I went looking in Subject: config and couldn't find it. After creating the entry, by assigning the value true and restart Firefox, the functions of recovery/recently started working again. Apparently, some bookmark plugins and session-based can cause this problem, but in my case, it must have been something else, that I never had no such plug-ins installed.

If you have this problem, here's a detailed itinerary of the way I fixed it. Whereas there seems to be several problems that can cause restore/recently functions to stop working, it is not a guaranteed fix, but it is still a thing to try, at least.

    1. Open a new tab or window.
    2. Type of topic: config address in the box and press ENTER.
    3. Read reviews and promise to be careful.
    4. Copy this: browser.sessionstore.enabled - and paste in Subject: config'search box in s. press ENTER.
    5. If you copied the text at the top right, the setting should appear in the list. If it is not the case, you have the same problem, I did. (I would say that you copy/paste the text indicated and only this text before moving on to double check).
    6. If the parameter does not exist, right click on the parameters of the list and choose new-> Boolean. Paste the parameter name that you copied previously in the name box, click OK and then set the Boolean true. Once you have click OK, restart Firefox, and (hopefully) things should work properly again.

Thanks to everyone who offered help and thoughts!

  • Why should Firefox back to "never remember history" whenever I go to "remember history"?

I've seen many questions similar to this problem, but they are all about the custom settings and none of them does not seem to work for me.

I want to have Firefox value "Remember history" and to stay like that, but when I close Firefox, the next time I open that the setting has been restored "never remember history" and what I had done at the previous session has been lost, including my cookies and log-ins.

I am currently using the latest version of Firefox, and I'm running on Windows Vista. Everything worked fine until a few days after Adobe Flash of overload. Any help will be appreciated.

  • I don't want my recently closed tabs to be saved... Any way to prevent this?

It's been a long time I used Firefox (got a Macbook and for some reason any just used Safari for a long time), so please forgive me if I am just missing something in the settings of Firefox.

Anywho, I have Firefox put in place to remember not my story because I like the intimacy it offers. I think it is strange that I put him in place to delete my history, but when you go into 'History', it keeps a list of all my closed tabs... This kind of defeat is not the purpose of having the browser saves don't not my story?

Is there a way to prevent Firefox to keep this list of my recently closed tabs?

Hello drubacca117, private browsing (aka "never remember history") means that firefox will not write no historical data on your hard drive. as long as the browser is open it will store these tabs recently closed in the RAM in order to restore quickly if needed - if you don't like this feature, you can disable it this way:
enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) & look for preferences named browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo. Double-click on it and change the value to 0 and restart the browser once.

  • Is it possible to use "recently closed" tabs in the new firefox without a mouse?

In the old firefox, you had the option of clicking ONCE in the upper left corner and then using the arrow keys to navigate the menu of recently closed tabs, extremely fast and go to the tab you want. Now you klick three times, and you have to search the history button because there is no list more, and there is no possibility of using the arrow keys. Is it possible to use the arrow keys on the keyboard as before or is there anyway of downgrading my version to the old version of firefox?

You can also access this data via the menu of tory His(Alt + S)

    • Press the ALT key, or press F10 to display the Menu bar.
  • Recently closed tabs Shortcutkey does not work

When you press ctrl + shift + T keys, nothing happens. It is supposed to be back on the last tab, that I closed, but it is not that.

I checked the history > recently closed tabs and it seems normal with the display tabs, and I am able to reopen tabs here, but not with the keyboard shortcut.

It started this morning or last night after I have updated to version 27.0.

I found the problem. The Tab Mix Plus extension does not work too well with the new version.

    Installation of this version:
