New account

I got a computer that belonged to a deceased person.  I have an email address but no password.  Can I set up a new account so I can use this computer?

(1) while you are on the login screen, hold down the SHIFT key while you click on the start icon and select restart.

(2) keeping the SHIFT key until you get the following screen.

(3) when the next screen appears, select troubleshooting/advanced/reset to reset the computer in the factory conditions, ready to install with your own password

  • Can I change a POP3 account existing IMAP account without setting up a new account requiring a new e-mail address?

The instructions in Thunderbird help advise that it is necessary to get a new e-mail address to set up the new IMAP accouint. I would use the existing e-mail address.

It is simply not true. I have Setup several times the same duplicate in Thunderbird, a POP and an IMAP account.

There are ambiguities about what means 'email account '. In this context, it will be the same email account, but using a different connection to negotiate with the server.

Once you have set up, your email account exists, whether you use it or not. The default value of 'existence' is likely to be in your email provider's website. You have an email address and there is that a supplied server somewhere who is willing to accept messages for you. If this account is added to Thunderbird does not affect its basic existence.

In Thunderbird, we talk about setting up e-mail accounts, but here you make an entry to allow Thunderbird to access your account. So tell you him about your e-mail account and where to connect to the server to use. Thunderbird can make this connection using POP, IMAP, or even both at the same time.

The 'final paragraph' is intended, in my opinion, for those who have had an e-mail account with a single supplier and I now turn to another provider and a new account e-mail (address). This is a warning that if they just delete the old account in Thunderbird, its content will fade. You must keep the content by copying them elsewhere before deleting the account. In fact you don't need to remove the old account , but you will be regularly harassed by Thunderbird complaining about his inability to connect to the server.

Go to file | New | Existing e-mail account, add your account again but let Thunderbird select "IMAP".

Now copy (select, drag-and-drop or use the right-click |) Move to) the content from your old account POP-connected to the new. I'm assuming that you change in IMAP because you want to access your messages from more than one device, so want some, if not all of your accumulated messages visible.

If for some reason you are not able to set up IMAP-connected version until you have deleted or closed the older POP login account, then you can instead store messages from the account based on POPS in Thunderbird local folders, delete the old account POP, then add your account to e-mail again but this time it allows to select an IMAP connection. Then you can move your messages to local folders into folders to the new account.

  • I have reinstalled the OS on my computer and Firefox wouldn't let sign me in sync, I created a new account and have lost all my info previous synched - help!

I just reinstall the operating system on my computer. I downloaded the latest version of Firefox and tried to connect to synch - I have no other devices connected outside of the computer, I just cleaned so I was unable to pair. I tried using the recovery key, but it would not allow me to continue. I tried to log in again, and then he said that my email didn't have an account. I created a new account with the same email that I used before and now none of my info (bookmarks / prefs / plugins) are here! Please help me to recover my previous Info!

Sorry, but the action to create a new synchronization with the same account caused e-mail address your data from the server. In addition, 'coupling' and the 'Sync' button has not been used in over a year, with 28 Firefox being the last version to use the old version of Sync. Then it uses Sync on a device as a backup, something that Sync was not intended to do service

Any chance that you have an old Time Machine backup?

  • Will be the new account sync Firefox (PC) with my old Firefox Home (iPhone), if yes how?

Will be the new account sync Firefox (PC) with my old Firefox Home (iPhone), if yes how?

I have to update my sync Firefox Home for iPhone app? He is currently using my old account.

    Thank you

Firefox Home was removed from management, while the new sync system has been developed, so no, it will not work with the new system. However, we are currently working on a new product for iOS, which will be able to sync with Firefox in the future using the new system.

As is the case, update your Firefox to the new synchronization method (synchronize your bookmarks from Firefox, history, passwords, etc.).

  • I deleted my account and lost all my emails, contacts and saved records. I need to recover and start a new account.

I had a problem with my password and so deleted my old account before starting a new. I didn't know that I would lose all my contacts, files and e-mails. I need to get their back and then set the appropriate settings and passwords on the new account. So the question is "how to get back the old account information?

    lets start at the beginning.

How do you delete your account. Uninstalling and reinstalling do not affect the data, if your actions are needed to determine if something could stay.

  • My older version of outlook express has several problems, will be these imported into a new account in thunderbird

My older version of Outlook Express has acquired several problems. It is time for a change, these errors will be imported into a new account in Thunderbird. I hope that everything is based on the conviction that the two programs are completely different.

You don't say what problems you have with OE, then how everyone has to guess?

There is no such thing as a "Thunderbird account. You do not have an account with your email provider. To access this account, you can use OE, or Thunderbird.
But Thunderbird isn't your e-mail provider.

The Apple ID, you saved your Mac with, is the Apple which has all the applications provided with the Mac ID. By creating a new Apple ID, you can buy Apps. I know, I have two Apple ID myself. It is very important to know your Apple that you used for the registration ID, install and download all your apps in the App Store.

    Bravo!

  • How you can uncheck "digitally sign messages" when you add a new account? I don't want to use it.

When I try to add a new account (or even to modify an existing account) "Digitally sign messages" is checked by default and it is not accessible to uncheck

I check through all my accounts and they have no tick signatures. you were previously signed emails to get the value in the first place?

Now, I assume that you have no e-mail account that you want to digitally sign messages.
Go to the menu (alt + T) tools > Options > advanced > general and type in the search box

    sign

You will get a list of entries below, including the .sign_mail of mail.identity.id# where # is a number

Each account has a number, but are you not signing mail then put all on false is not a problem.

find one that is set to true, right click and select toggle.
Close the configuration editor once your done and restart Thunderbird.

If you sign mail on an account, you will have to go back to the latter for account settings and turn path on any that you have bad out here in the configuration editor.

  • When I opened TB, under 'Accounts', it only shows the option "create a new account. Option: "view settings for this account" does NOT appear.

When I opened TB, I don't see no information on the TB account that I used for years. Instead, the main menu shows only 'accounts'-'Create a new account - Email, Chat, newsgroup, feed'. Option: "view settings for this account" does NOT appear.

Also the main menu does NOT appear "Email - messages, write a new Message" or "Advanced functions", etc...

Real emails regarding the TB account I used for years are still present in the "users-> xxxxyyyy-> AppData-> Roaming-> Thunderbird' folder."

  • I've forgotten my pwd sync and the email I used is like. How can I copy my old info, acct (setting, Add - ons, ect.) without sync settings, a new account?

I recently had to reset my computer to factory settings. After you install firefox, I realized that I had forgotten my password synchronization. Unfortunately, the email associated with my original account is now gone, so I can't just change my password. From now on, I copied my account from my laptop information and substituted default account on my desk information, so at least I have my favorites and other features the same parameters.

Is it possible to create a new account and copy all my old settings (excluding the synchronized data) and create a new synchronization configuration? Or the method I've implemented will be effective to synchronize any bookmarks or changes that I do from one computer to another?

You can feel free to simply create a Firefox Sync account.
    Follow this link: https://accounts.firefox.com/signin
and click on "create an account".

NOTE: If you are always connected to Sync, you must sign in first.

Connect all your devices to your new account and you should be in business!

    I hope that helped!
