New computer and old editions

All,

I'm sure I don't am not the only one to ask something like that, but since I have this has messed up on my first attempt, I thought I would just post it here. I have a new Macbook Pro I used for six months. Previously, all my editing has been done on my older iMac with Lightroom 4. I've always used an external hard drive as part of my workflow, so all my RAW files are located on the external drive. Naturally, when I connect it external drive to my new Macbook Pro I can see my RAW files, and of course I can import into Lightroom 5 (I have a subscription of CC). So, how can I transfer my changes to my Lightroom 4 old iMac running for my Macbook Pro running Lightroom 5

I think it's a matter of 'library', but when I tried to transfer my library I really messed up things (thankfully I was smart enough to make a contingency plan before I attempt to move the library)

In advance, thank you for any assistance.

Marc

You want to use Lightroom 5 to open your catalog in Lightroom 4. 5 Lightroom will recognize that the catalog needs to be updated and will create a new catalog in the proper format. All the adjustments you have made using Lightroom 4 will still be intact in the new catalog, Lightroom 5. The old catalog will remain unchanged so that you can use with Lightroom 4 If you have installed on your computer.
