New Dell ships with no. install disks

My new 8900 XPS came with pre-installed W7SP1, more a disc of 'upgrade' to W10 (like that will happen) (until they do a XP style extortion, in other words). Given that MS has rendered impassable to XP, and
Vista and 8 were written to destroy productivity and modern trade, I intend to stay on 7.

So I have no OS install discs, no keys etc, produced for the operating system, I'll be with for a long time. I ran the recovery of the factory, so I did that at least. Still get installation disks?

I created the Windows 7 SP1 backup on USB key with Dell backup and recovery software.

However, I also used Clonezilla to create an image of my entire hard drive. From scratch means many hours wasted installation of software. I don't want to have to do it.

  • Is it possible to live this terrible software that was installed on my new Dell laptop with Microsoft Windows 8? He cut my productivity in half.

He is an incompetent unusable system.  How can I get out of it?

Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves to release these BONES a terrible on desktop users. Unfortunately, you're in for a rough ride even if you use the classic interface to replace the Start button. While you may feel momentarily more at ease because some menu familiar elements, the fact is, he falls in and out of Metro with a total disregard for your user experience. You'll never make windows 8 return to windows 7, but here are some tips that might help you to "live with it", as you suggest. Gordon http://Reviews.cnet.co.uk/Software-and-Web-Apps/How-to-Make-Windows-8-look-like-Windows-7-50009546/ is quite correct, Yes, there is a big button in the metropolitan area called "desktop", but it's a joke. She teases you with only a glimmer of what was once the standard windows desktop. It's not at all like windows 7 because MS has this optimized for Tablet users and completely omitted to take into account when developing desktop users it :-( To ignore them, how many people do you think ran a program (or is it an app?) and I was wondering how the * out? Where is minimize it and close button gone? UH... how long they sit there scratching head here wondering how to get out. How many people hold the button walk / stop and restart, as the firm is missing. Oh, forgive me, microsoft. I should just guessed to grab the top of the screen and drag it down! M! M! If they found it hard to make at least a small showcase intro while setting up Windows 8 in the first place, it can have registered 'some' of fighting for people. Windows 7 is a good OS. It is familiar and very solid, although there are many things that I love yet (invasive restarts my main pet hate). Personally everything that windows 8 has done is to alienate users of office and pushed to OS much better as OSX and Linux distributions like Ubuntu. Yes, the mobile market is supported, and people using mobile phones and tablets, BUT not everyone. I have an ipad and an iphone but I can't work on it. I need a desktop computer to do my work and a lot of people do. I am using Windows 7 on my main PC, but I have 9 computers running Ubuntu, Mac OS x and XP. All rooms offer a decent user experience. I've been using windows since 3.1 and I saw a few exits doubtful as ME and Vista but this deserves no respect at all. Very well, if could be allowed on tablet devices or touch and their TV marketing is purely tactile conduit, but how many Office users are there? Hope the link helps you and I hope you can get on. I suspect that you will struggle until they release "Blue" which is the code name for "damage control for emergency OS"... and even then...

    Hi megawhite,

  • New Dell laptop has a white square of 4 "on my desktop

I just bought a new Dell laptop with vista. When it shows the office, a white square of 4 "replaces the screen. l ' turn off or restore does not cure the problem

    peewelt,
Since the white box then emerged on the Internet, I strongly suspect malware.  Anytime something happens while online, it is the prime suspect.  Try running a good scan online even if you have security software such as yours could have been compromised.  Here are two options:

    Windows OneCare: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm?s_cid=sah/?s_cid=sah
    or
    Trend Micro Housecall: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Also download, install and run Malwarebytes from Malwarebytes.org.  It of free and is one of the most reliable sources for malware protection.

If who does not find any, try to restore the system to a point in time before the problem started:
To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    Click Finish.
The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Let us know if you need more assistance.

  • Dell R730xd with mode PERC H730 and RAID/HBA

    Hi all

I have a new Dell R730xd with a PERC H730 card. I have six 4TB readers connected to it. It works very well in RAID mode, but the map also has support for the 'HBA' mode In other words, the card works like a basic HBA and disables the RAID functionality. When the HBA mode map software can see the disks, but they never make it through the operating system. Readers are not detected in the MESSAGE as no RAID and there is no option to convert them to no RAID.

I talked about this through with technical support, which have been really helpful, but we can't find a solution. It seems to work on their server, but not mine.

So I write here to see if anyone else uses this configuration, or to find out if anyone has had the same problem and maybe even resolved. Let me know!

    Thank you
    Tim.

We had the same problem as well. I was able to solve the problem but doing a factory reset in the HBA. After the reset and reboot retype again HBA configuration and activate the HBA mode and your good.

  • Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on Dell XEON with SSD slow initial Pagemaker graphics file loads, very quickly thereafter

I use Pagemaker 7 on a mixture of Windows 7 Pro, 32 & 64 bit Dell i5 and i7 PC hard drive to work with complex graphics files.

These computers all display the chart pages quickly Pagemaker - about 1 second for each complex page.

A new Dell Xeon with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with 8 GB, 250 GB SSD and 1 TB hard drive works Pagemaker 7 OK. Logically, it should be useful faster than our other PC.

However, the initial display of complex graphical pages can take 20 seconds per page. Later, as I work in forward and backward through the pages of the same document, the graphical displays become instant - as if they were now in fast memory.

The Xeon pilots have been verified also updated.

SuperFetch and Windows Search are both "started"... but it makes no difference if they are 'off '. Manager tasks indicate > 6 GB 'Cached' and 'Available' with Pagemaker 7 and a graphic 128 MB .

Pagination is "managed automatically for all readers" with 8 GB allocated on SSD.

Please, no guidance on why the initial graphic display should be so slow when later it's instant?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Install Windows 7 x 64 on a new Dell Inspiron N5110 with NoOS

Hello! I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron N5110 with NoOS. Now, I am trying to install Windows 7 Professional x 64 on it from a USB. I made this a hundred times, but now I'm stuck with a problem. After the beginning of the installation it shows me a message:

A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. I f you have a driver disk, CD/DVD or player of the USN, please insert it now.

I tried to google for answers to this problem, the only thing I found is that the laptop does not all SATA drivers installed and asks me to install some. However, I can't figure out how to do this. The system doesn't see another Flash DRIVE with drivers on this subject and if I copy the drivers to the root of the USB which I am startup also fails to find the drivers.
How can I solve my problem? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

I fix this plug in USB2.0 flash boot, when the plugin USB3.0 discovers same error message.

    See you soon

The site is authentic.  You have two options when you do your relocation:

    Method 1

    1. Download SP3 form the Microsoft site and burn it to a cd or copy it to a flash drive.
    2. Reinstall Windows with your original Windows XP CD.
    3. Use the copy of SP3 that you burned on the CD or copied to the flash drive and update the machine to SP3.  Note that if you have an original CD of 'gold' of Windows XP without service pack that you install SP1a or SP2 before you install SP3, SP2 is available here , download and save it with SP3 before making your relocation.

    Method 2

    1. Download SP3 from the Microsoft site and it wake to your Windows XP CD.
    2. Install Windows XP with your slipstreamed CD and your installation will be in SP3, when installation is complete you will not need to install service packs, you'll just have to do some other updates that have been released after SP3.

The http://lifehacker.com/386526/slipstream-service-pack-3-into-your-windows-xp-installation-cd is legitimate, it only gives you instructions on how to create and burn a CD of SP3 slipstreamed Windows XP.  If this seems too daunting then use method 1 to install Windows.

Both methods are very good but method 2 allows a nicer cleaner installation, everything is installed to SP3 level and there are no remnants of previous service packs.  While creating the slipstreamed CD may appear to be a time consuming task, in the end, it will be a time saver and afterwards if you ever have problems with the installation of Windows you may need this cd SP3 slipstreamed to all repairs on the installation.  You can create the SP3 cd now and do it ready and at hand for future needs.

    Hello

You can not legally use a license of Vista OEM Dell on your Gateway computer.

Dell license is linked to the original Dell computer it was installed on and is NOT transferable to another computer.

Microsoft sells more Vista; they sell now Windows 7.

You can find Vista sold online, but run you the risk of buying pirated software.

You can also try the local computer for the left stores more copies of Vista.

    I suggest you reinstall XP
