New e-4200 signal strength

I went out and bought an e4200 today and the signal strength is worse that my WGT300n, are there settings that I can do to increase my signal strength? I have read the posts and cannot find anything.

  • WRT610N new firmware - capped at 150 Mbps with the excellent signal strength?

I've just updated to firmware 1.00.02.10, had no problem to upgrade.  I have reset the router default settings after update (via the user interface, not via the button on the back) and even he restarted for good measure.  It is covering the same way I got it before the upgrade, but my 5 GHz channel set up to 150 Mbit/s for some reason any.  I am less than 5 feet between the router and am fluctuating between excellent and very good signal strength.

Actually, the fact that it is even fluctuating force signal very good this distance is weird also, but I am especially interested in the 150 Mbps.

  • Yellow ' dot/star' on my internet (signal strength bar) icon in the systray.

Original title: yellow dot on the wireless icon

I have a yellow dot, or more specifically a yellow star on my internet (signal strength bar) icon in the systray. The weird part is that I seem to have a complete internet service. What is this and how do I get rid of him. (If all you have is a solution, it is fine, also.) The weird part is that, if the computer has served for a long time, she disappears.

    Thanks in advance.

  • WRT1900ACS - low wifi signal strength

Finally, I returned my reboot constantly and lock WRT1900AC V1 and got a new WRT1900ACS in Exchange.  (Thanks for the service of 2 year contract with bestbuy).

The intensity of the signal of the WRT1900AC V1 was regularly 3 to 6 DB louder than my Apple Airport.  It's one of the things that I really liked on the V1 WRT1900AC... good coverage.

The WRT1900ACS is more stable, but the signal strength is very low compared to the Apple Airport.

Here are the results of a test... in both cases I measured the signal strenth with my MacBook Air with the routers placed in the same position and from the same location.  I have reproduced this test of different areas of the House and in all cases, the airport was a signal much stronger.

This is the airport.  RSSI is - 68 DBm, which is a very good signal.

Now, here's the WRT1900ACS. RSSI is - 80dBm which is an almost unusable signal.

So here are my questions to the experts of the group... would you say that this WRT1900ACS is defective and must be returned?  Or y at - it something on the ACS firmware that has changed (I'm currently running with the last 1.0.0.172978 rev).

No amount of 4 on the WRT1900ACS antenna setting does make a difference.

Looking for some ideas to try before returning this unit to another Exchange.

    Thank you

For more insulation, we manually will reflash the firmware of the device. You can do the following:

    • Download the firmware.
    • Manually reflash the firmware of the device.
    • Reset and reconfigure the router. Furthermore, once you reset the router, all settings and configurations that were previously recorded will be deleted. You can save the setting of your router before the firmware update. Here is the link for the process.

  • Low signal strength, high-end hardware

My old adapter dead netgear recently. It has just stopped working. It worked fine until now, if a little slow, but he never gave me peaks of lag or sudden failures. I got a new Linksys adapter and went with the G because my old netgear adapter is a G. I noticed the signal strength is low, and when I played games online I was sometimes a hint of lag. I decided it might be time to update my router as well. So, I bought a N of Linksys wireless router. No change, still a power low signal and occasional spikes of lag. So I traded my linksys for Linksys Wireless-N router adapter. Higher speeds, but always a low signal strength. My router is down hard connected to a cable modem. That's about 30 feet of the card, with a couple of walls between the two. Should there be any reason why will not improve my signal strength, and I continue to experience spikes obstructive gal? I'd switch Netgear, because I never had this problem before trying to Linksys? Some advice, please.

Not even a Word. Thanks for making my decision, Linksys.

  • Tecra M2 and wireless network - signal strength problem

    Need advice buying wireless kit.

I have a DSL phone line connection and I am currently using a Speedtouch USB modem connected to my workstation down.

I have a laptop Toshiba Tecra M2 with construction of wireless support. I want to be able to share the internet connection which comes in the workstation down. I guess that my options for the workstation are to use a DSL wireless modem to share the internet connection or to use a PCI card in my computer. I tried them both.

I first tried to set up an infra mode network with the laptop using a LinksysWAG54G which was connected to the telephone line and a computer. But the problem with that I was t couldn't do accept the subnet mask that my ISP (Lixxus) provided 255.255.255.255 (PPoA). This modem has all the masks of SN in a dropdown list, but mine isn't in this list. I returned this modem.

I tried then set up an adhoc network purchase buy a PCI Wireless card for my desktop, and internet connection sharing etc. on the workstation. However, while it worked, and I could see the desktop of my laptop, the problem has been the wireless range. The signal disappear when I wore the laptop in the back room on the first floor. It would have been a distance of 10 meters in a straight line between the laptop and desktop. There are walls two bricks and a floor between the two machines. It seemed hopeless, so I sent the PCI card.

I'm not sure what to try next.

Any suggestions that I could try next?

    Suggested hardware?

Signal strength - could the problem be that the antenna in portable insufficient Tosh - it too small?

    Hello

I have the same situation at home. The best solution for this is to use the wireless router. Here you have the possibility to connect several computers desktop or laptop. In this case the configuration of wireless connection is very easy and it works fine. I also use it at home and in front of my house with no problems.

  • Tecra A8-143 - can I pushed the signal strength?

I have Intel Pro Set Wireless driver on my Toshiba Tecra A8-143 and signals I have recive in my neigborghoud is very week.

It is possible to push the signal strength somehow? There is an amplifier of signal to the Bay, or something?

    Hello

    > and signals I have recive in my neigborghoud is very week.
    Laughing out loud
Why do you want to receive the signal of your neighborhood?

Unfortunately, you can boost the signal t. This is possible on the router directly and there is no improvement for the wireless network adapter.

  • P70 Pro SAT - signal strength dropped suddenly constantly

I recently bought the Satellite P70 Pro (2 weeks ago). It has Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG adapter. During the first week, I was able to detect approximately 6 wireless LANs near my apartment and my own WLAN has always been the power of the signal full (I use a Belkin Wireless Access Point).

I updated my Windows XP with updates of recommended security and after reboot, my laptop only barely detect my WLAN with very low signal strength at best, and I can't see all other WLANS that I used to work with the very good signal strength.

I do not understand why this has happened - I tried tto updated drivers Intel cards with the latest version (9.0.3.9) and also to restore my system to the date I bought it (IE restore to basically its state before buying). None of these actions has changed the fact that he basically can't pick up my WLAN more unless I'm ontop of it.

I think return the laptop and get the card replaced Intel because it seems defective.

If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much
    Peter.

    Hello

I've read many users with different laptops, but with the same WiFi card have similar problems. Unfortunately have no explanation. I know that you can use the Agere or Toshiba WLAN card.

In my opinion, this card doesn't work properly with some access points or there is a problem with communication between them. I have the same card (Satellite M40) and WLAN Netgear access point. Since the first day, it works perfectly and without any update driver.

If you have time here to edge wireless you can find a lot of interesting topics on the similar theme.

  • How to test the signal strength of an Airport Express, which extends a network?

I am trying to understand how my Airport Express is actually help to expand my network, and if I should move somewhere different. Any help would be appreciated!

Current situation: my base station is an AirPort Extreme in our apartment computer room; for the internet, which is plugged into the wall. The wifi network is extended in the living room via an AirPort Express (version 7.6.4). There are on the same cabinet as the AirPort Express to Apple TV. The Airport Express has an optical cable connecting to a sound bar (which has an additional HDMI connection to the TV).

I don't really know if the AirPort Express Terminal, he does something useful. The network is set to be extended, best I can tell: Airport Extreme network Mode is "Create a wireless network", and network Mode of the AirPort Express is "extend a wireless network. But still, the wifi on my iPad and iPhone signal strength seem to fall much in the living room. Apple TV usually broadcasts music from my desktop computer (in the computer room) well enough, but if I try to play music from my computer via the Apple Express at the soundbar, the connection is terrible and fall. (Which could be a problem with wifi, or could be an aging Airport Express question, could be a cable problem or might be a sound bar problem...)

An example of what worries me: if I go to the Airport utility on my iPhone and a glance at the Airport Extreme, it has 4 Wireless, including Apple TV clients. But if I look at the AirPort Express, there sometimes a client wireless (iPhone), but never shows the Apple TV: even if the Apple TV is about 30 cm of the Airport Express. It's as if the 30cm distant to the Airport Express connection is weaker than the connection of two-rooms-distant Airport Extreme, but I am probably wrong that.

In any case, is there a way to test what speed is through the AirPort Express, compared to through the extreme? I tried to use applications like CloudCheck on my iOS devices, but those only measure the speed of my network, and it is unclear whether or not he uses the Extreme or Express.

Thanks in advance and all apologies if I used (almost inevitably) 'Express' when I should have used "Extreme", or vice versa, somewhere at the top.

One way to see the strength of the signal is the Alt (option) key while clicking on the WiFi icon in the menu bar.

But you see not directly related to the airport of arrival. Also the Airport utility does not give much information.

You can see a lot more with the free app (Appstore) called "WiFi Scanner".

The problem could be that the place you have chosen for the Airport Express can be better: it should be somewhere in halfway (in force) between the Real and where you sit with the iPad/iPhone.

  • I want to test my cell signal strength

I want to test my cell signal strength

I think that could be solved by your carrier - it is they who provide the service and to know where are the towers. Other than that, your phone displays the intensity of the signal with the bars.

  • The low signal strength with Ralink RT5390 on HP Dv6

I have two other laptops HP which connect to my wireless router, both have a signal strength 3-4 bar using Intel 5100 and 5300 AGN wireless cards.

My dv6-6145dx has a Ralink RT5390 and gets only 2-3 bars, but mostly just 2.  I use the laptop in the same place as the others and even tried to move get a signal louder, but nothing has worked.

I googled and it seems that the RT5390 had some problems like this.  I'm now thinking that maybe I should buy a wireless card replacement.  Intel made half wireless pci-e cards, but I have no idea if they are supported. Should I get the Atheros?

EDIT: for anyone suffering from slow response of Ralink RT5390 in their computer HP laptop, definitely try the latest pack of driver software from the HP Business Center.  I installed it on my computer and it has greatly improved responsiveness.  It is still not a great card, but at least I'm able to use it now without feeling like I'm on a dial-up connection!

"If you keep an open mind, life will give you more opportunities."

    Hello:

Have you tried the latest version of the Ralink driver (5.0.15.0 - March 26, 2013) for your current card?

  • The low signal strength WET610N

My WET610N is on a 5 GHz wireless network and is located about 30 feet from my router (Netgear C3700) with a line of direct sight.  The 5 GHz network uses channel 11 operation up to 145Mbs.  The WET610N shows a signal strength of 28%.  My laptop wireless, running "WiFi channel Scanner" is positioned near the WET610N and shows the signal strength 85% on the same 5 GHz network.

A Speedtest.net test on the laptop computer watch ~ 60Mbs speeds on a connection from Time Warner ISP download 100Mbs.  The WET610N, running the same test of Speedtest.net shows only the 5Gbs of download speeds.

The intensity of the signal would be the cause for the lower results of speedtest?  Wireless Setup is not that many configuration options.  Which parameters can affect the intensity of the WET610N signal?

BTW, I tried the same tests on the network wireless 2.4 GHz, with similar results.

OK, I just made a major discovery, but I'm still not sure on how to correct what I discovered.

On a whim, I unplugged my desktop computer, which is a system 8.1 of Windows, the WET610N and plugged my laptop, which is still under Windows 7.  When I ran the test, Speedtest.net, my laptop registered 97Mbps download speeds!

Thus, it seems that the WET610N works beautifully and it's something on my desktop does not work properly.  I recently upgraded to the Windows 7 Desktop to Windows 8.1, and I remember very well that the network provided quickly enough before the upgrade.  Maybe it's the network on Windows 8.1 driver.

Anyway, I guess I should mark this issue as resolved, since this is obviously not a problem with the WET610N.  If anyone has any advice about network speed using Windows 8.1, your answer would be approciated.
