New E7470 Latitude and 2.5-inch SSD

Does anyone know if an SSD to 2.5 inches can be added to the new Latitude E7470 14 inch portable computers? I could do that on previous models (E7440). Looking at the owner's manual there seems to be enough space next to the battery, but there is no mention of a 2.5 slot.

A Dell sales representative assured me that I could but could not provide me the reference of a shopping cart / cable to cela (and seems to be more inclined to sell me the phone to answer my question). Dell support won't talk to me unless I already have one.

Reader m2 are nice but limited to 500 GB.

I apologize for the misunderstanding.  Looking at the user manual I see no place for a disc more and have to say that you won't be able to use a 2.5 inch drive outside using an external enclosure.

    You can put 2 x 4 GB DIMMS in the empty slots, this will give you a total of 12 GB. iMacs are very sensitive to the RAM, it is best to buy RAM from reliable sources like Crucial (direct purchase) or OWC OWC RAM

  • Compatibility M.2 SanDisk SSD X 400 with new XPS 8900 and cloning issues

    I just got a new 8900 XPS running and ordered a Sandisk X 400 1 TB SATA III M.2 drive for her.  I know, adding that a PCIE SSD with adapter would be much faster.  But I'm not a gamer and concentrate more on edge backup and storage.  And the new Sandisk card gets good reviews and should give a nice speed boost.  This will be my first attempt at cloning of a new boot disk and install an SSD.  I went through the forum and found some good information.  A few questions...

    One of the sons said that an SSD with the B and M keys (like this one) may not work.  Searching the Web I found no comments from anyone who has tried this particular SSD in a new XPS desktop.  No compatibility issues?

    Another thread has been posted problems with starting the XPS 8900, when you add a new disk, but the updated BIOS to 2.1.3 seemed to be the solution.  I confirmed that my machine already has this version of BIOS.  Once again, any concerns?

    My plan is to clone again SSD in the computer using Acronis or other software, then set as the boot drive in BIOS.  Is there a reason to delete the operating system of the C: drive, thereafter, or can just stay as a backup if problems occur with the SSD?

    I have already installed a few programs including MSOffice 2007 and Windows Essentials, so I can use the machine, but otherwise it is always very clean.  When I do the clone will be these OK execution since the SSD without much messing around?  And they will have to be uninstalled from the HARD drive?

    Thank you!

    I'll answer some of my own questions.  The M400 Sandisk SSD drive arrived today and I found a screw M2x4 at Ace Hardware to install it with.  Installation was super simple.  I used a pair of pliers to hold the small screws in place and then a Jewelers screwdriver to fix it.

    He seemed to take more time for the first start that made me nervous, but all loaded without any problems.  I rebooted and that you press F2 to get into the BIOS and the new SSD was there!  And then let the computer loads Windows and checked Device Manager and it's still there!

    As expected the reader not yet appear in Windows because it was not formatted.  I used under Computer Management disk management to initialize the disk.  And now I have a new drive I: 935 GB free.

    So far so good.  Seems like the M400 Sandisk should work perfectly.

    Next step is to clone.  Always blazing new territory for me... when the drive is cloned it will remain I: or it will be C:?

  • Question of BitLocker with new models E7270 E5470 E5570 Latitude and precision 7710 7510

    Hello

    I got all these new models last week and I have a problem with them...

    Deploying Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit with SCCM 2012 and bitlocker is configured during the task sequence by a PIN at startup.

    This process works for all models until there... Latitude and Precision of previous generations, but now, with new models, there is a problem with the PIN code. At the end of the sequence of tasks, the drive is encrypted and there is no error BUT the PIN is not recognized and the recovery key is requested.

    This recovery key is correctly stored in AD. TPM and owner is ok. Version of the TPM secure is 1.2...

    I already tried to manually decrypt and encrypt again after you secure the TPM reset, but no way.

    I also tried Windows 10 companies, and the issue is the same.

    Is this a known issue? Someone here already experienced the same thing?

    Hello

    This question is one that is being developed and there are updates of BIOS coming out that will fix it.

    At the moment the latest BIOS for the E7270 will fix the problem (BIOS 1.2.2)

    For the E5470/E5570 of Latitude and Precision 7510/7710 updates of BIOS to fix this will be published soon. I will not give dates at this stage because they can change.

  • Screen of C850 - 1 H 8 satellite flashes and turns off using SSD and win 8

    Hello, I bought a C850 - 1 H 8 of Ebuyer and I removed the hard drive installed windows 8 on it and installed my SSD, and then a clean installed Windows 7.

    The laptop was working perfectly, and then after a little more than a month, the headphone jack has become defective intermittently. I contacted Toshiba, they picked up the computer laptop, fixed and returned.

    When the returned laptop, I still pulled the hard drive provided with Windows 8 and replaced by my SSD with Windows 7 top.

    The laptop screen started flashing on and outside. So I thought ok, they must have changed the material. Using the SSD even I formatted it and then reinstalled Windows 7.

    I find that contrary to front - that my laptop according to the system information for Windows - is manufactured by LG and not Toshiba.
    I also find that the desktop screen and startup splash turned into a screen LG and not an a Toshiba.

    I contacted Toshiba and they gave me, told me to ask for a replacement from Ebuyer. I was passed between the two companies constantly. Then I took the hard line with Toshiba and said that they have damaged my computer and I want a replacement or I will not buy another Toshiba product.

    I then return a petulant response from Toshiba, actually insinuating that aside from the faulty earphone Jack, it was my fault. Incredible.

    I had not used my new laptop at all really after all of this, because I'm sick of all this. But today I started to use it again, and after some time of use, the screen flashes again. Even after using a new installation of Windows 7 and the clean use of Toshiba Windows 7 64 bit drivers for the right model.

    What can I do?

    See you soon

    > When the laptop returned, I still pulled out the hard disk provided with Windows 8 and replaced by my SSD with Windows 7 top.

    It was not good because headphones is part of the motherboard and I think they replaced the motherboard. In such cases, the bulk of the material is changed and do not use the same system pre-installed due to the compatibility of the driver. This can lead to physical problems.

    But the screen flashes at the beginning with 8 win preinstalled?
    Have you seen the LG sign turn on/off the unit after replacing the mobo?

    Maybe service guy (ASP authorized service provider isn't Toshiba but independent company) I forgot to update the DMI and therefore LG sign appears on the screen.
    But in my opinion this should not affect the screen but this should be verified using Toshiba original image (Windows 8)

  • I have a HP envy j000 and I installed an SSD.

    I have a HP envy j000 and I installed an SSD. If I look at MYPC, it doesn't have the installed ssd. If I look at the Device Manager it shows the installed ssd. What's new?

    The SSD is probably not formatted and mounted as a drive in the system. In other words, it is empty. Right-click on MYPC and choose manage... go to disk management and find the SSD. Make a new simple volume and ntfs format and then assign a letter reader and you'll be good.

    ATTENTION: This is my first endeavor material addition Introduction experimental set-up in Introduction to the laboratory of engineering computer science and make a cable crossed in Introduction to networking laboratory.

    Computer type: 10:00

    I am trying to install a secondary drive. It is an essential M550 2.5 inch SSD. I'm looking inside the box for the second disc, I see (1) power cord with two plugs and (2) a cord with a plug of SATA data transfer.

    (1) a CAP is currently hung in the main HARD drive. The other is not plugged, but use very close to the second drive Bay which is - I guess - is available for the secondary drive.

    (2) the CAP is currently hanging in the main HARD drive.

    Therefore, I am confused. I'm blind and lack a second plug for the SATA cord to go to the SSD data transfer? Data transfer on the power supply cord is like a cable POE? Do I need to buy a cable to connect to a place for the SSD? All the guides basically say, ' insert the disc, disk, put on the bevel, put the cover, model in turn computer connects, launch the installation of the firmware through windows, "which is not useful when it seems that I'm missing a data transfer cable.

    Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    Problem solved. My SSD did not come with the appropriate cable and I found where to hang the cable again up to. Don't know how to close a post here...

    I don't want to use the service provier signal for lattitude and longitude.

    Please suggest me the error I made in the above code and assistance.

    Thanking you

    Standalone GPS works best outdoors, with a clear view of the sky.  At the very least, near a window.

    You can experiment with the timeout.

  • How can I get my current coordinates (latitude and longitude)?

    Hello world

    I want to choose the current place of residence and then display in a map.

    Something like:

    MapView mapview = new MapView();

    Ask my current location lat and LNG somehow and save them in the lat, long variables.

    mapview.setLatitude (lat);

    mapview.setLongitude (lng);

    mapview.setZoom (4);

    Invoke.invokeApplication (Invoke.APP_TYPE_MAPS, new MapsArguments (mapview));

    (I mean, I want to show a different mapView depending on where I am)

    My problem: can be found my current latitude and longitude? How can I do?

    I'm completely lost on how to start looking for information, then I'll be happy to receive any help.

  • Problem during recovery latitude and longitude

    Hello

    I'm trying to get the latitude and longitude using LocationListener, but every time I try to seek always returns 0.0. I've implemented the locationUpdated method, but there it always returns 0.0 for i.e. latitude and longitude. After when I started with Blackberry Maps and start the GPS Navigation in Blackberry Maps menu, so I start receiving the latitude and longitude after awhile.

    Can someone tell what I am doing wrong? Am I missing something?

    Hello

    I have solved the problem.

    I was not any operation in the providerStateChanged method and I think of what he would always return 0.0 always. I modified the code today and as shown as below:

    class LocationListenerImpl implements LocationListener
    {
        public void providerStateChanged(LocationProvider provider, int newState)
        {
            if(newState == LocationProvider.TEMPORARILY_UNAVAILABLE)
            {
                locationProvider.reset();
                locationProvider.setLocationListener(null, interval, timeout, -1);

                //Make the thread to sleep for some time.
                try
                {
                    Thread.sleep(2000);
                }
                catch(Exception e)
                {
                    System.out.println("Exception while making the thread to sleep");
                }

                startGpsNavigation();
            }
        }

        public void locationUpdated(LocationProvider provider, Location location)
        {
            if(location.isValid())
            {
                double latitude = location.getQualifiedCoordinates().getLatitude();
                double longitude = location.getQualifiedCoordinates().getLongitude();

                //set the latitude and longitude values fetched here.
                setLat(latitude);
                setLon(longitude);
            }
        }

        private void startGpsNavigation()
        {
            try
            {
                locationProvider = LocationProvider.getInstance(null);

                if(locationProvider != null)
                {
                    locationProvider.setLocationListener(new LocationListenerImpl(), interval, timeout, -1);
                }
            }
            catch(LocationException le)
            {
                System.out.println("Location Exception : ");
            }
        }
    }

    Once the LocationProvider is temporary unavailable I am reintializing it in startGpsNavigation.

    I hope this is the right approach because it solved my problem. Now, I'm getting latitude and longitude without having to start Blackberry Maps.

    Hope it would help someone else too.
