New Flash 9 won't install on Mac PPC - 1008:5,-5000 access denied error

I tried to install the new version of Flash 9 on my Mac Power PC (a G4 running OX 10.4.10). I received the following error messages:

"Error creating file: 1008:5,-5000 access denied error.
"You don't have enough privileges to access for this installation.

I tried a correction posted on the forum yesterday afternoon and the fix published here last night:

http://KB.Adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=4aa64290 & sliceId = 1

but these failed. The solution requires multiple users with different permission levels, but my Mac is a system of a user, and I have permission throughout the system.

I think that the problem lies in the installer itself and not the systems on which users install the software.

There are two types of install on a Power PC Mac: I call install Passive and Active.

Passive installation opens a file on the desktop and asks the user to drag the program icon in the Applications folder. Once the copy is complete, the program is installed. No authorization is required - no password must be affixed - because the copy function assumes that the user has permission to make the copy.

Active setup is running an installation program or a script, which place the program and the associated files in the appropriate in the system folders. Active installs ALWAYS require the installer enter the user name and password in order to continue installing - it validates permissions and Setup can continue.

Setup on your new version of Flash 9 is an Active installation program, but he asks NO username and password before you continue with the installation. It's the FIRST time I've ever seen this behavior with a program install Active, and I think that's the problem that people have with the installation.

chmod commands in the Terminal are a 'excessive difficulty', if you will forgive the expression. Simply re - write your Setup program to require username and password as all installers Active, and I believe that the problem will be solved.

Until you do this, my Mac has more Flash of any flavor. is there a previous version that I can download to get this software on my system, until correct you the installer?

Thank you.

I tried for days install the flash player on my mac (which I am the only user) Finally, I went in applications/utilities/disk utility

I opened the disk utility and chose my main hard drive and the tab first aid, basically, I selected "repair disk permissions". Once the process completed I restarted my computer and when I tried to install the flash player it worked like a charm

I hope this helps some of you

You may need to restore the permissions on your user account. To do this, start on your recovery partition (hold down the command and R during startup) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In the Terminal, type: 'resetpassword' (without the), press return, and then select the admin user. You do not have to reset your password. Click the icon of your Mac hard drive at the top. In the list box below, select the user account that has problems. At the bottom of the window, you will see a box labeled restore Home Directory permissions and ACLs. Click the button to reset there. The process takes a few minutes. When you're finished, restart.

  • create new folder at the same time save as creates an access denied error message

Create a new worksheet in Excel 2010, and choose File - Save as.  As a folder for this work did not exist, I asked to create a new folder, and then open that folder and named the document.  He then told me that I'm not allowed (access denied).  If I close and file - save as again once I can save.  How can I stop this happening?

We found the following solution and it seems to work

-Open the 'File' tab and choose menu command "Options".

I know this question has been asked before, but since nobody seems to have an answer for that I have no other choice than to ask again.

I have problems reading scores on a gaming site. The game went very well and I could connect successfully, but my scores are is never were on the list of players. The help section of the site suggests to uninstall / reinstall Flash Player. I had problems with Flash elsewhere so I thought I'd give it a try. The uninstall was successful, but now will not reinstall Flash. Now instead of a malfunction of the Flash Player, I have no Flash Player at all.

The installation process takes place as it should - download setup in my office, I open it, I get the "Adobe Flash Player install" window, I double-click the icon, I wonder if I'm "sure I want to open it", I click on 'Open', I get my administrator password, then comes the problem. The next window popup has a black background for about 1/2 second you see the words 'Install to retrieve' and a loading bar progress, then the words disappear and you end up looking at the black box of the void. That's all.

I have Ghostery, Lightbeam and HTTPS Everywhere Firefox modules. I disabled Ghostery through this process.

    Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to turn off the monitor power saving mode?

I tried your suggestion to use an external USB key to monitor the connection. It works!  The computer and the monitor can now go to sleep at the same time. The only downside is that the auxiliary USB ports on the monitor is no longer connected to the computer. So, now I need a hub USB powered, connected to the computer, since I have more USB devices (card reader, USB stick or two, two scanners and two printers) that the USB ports on the computer.
