I've just updated to the new Firefox, and now when I try to create a new folder of bookmarks, the option is gone (I see all of my folders of old, but the "New folder" option, which was on the bottom of the dropdown menu, disappeared. Or I see it anywhere else.

  • New folder: "All bookmarks" appeared. Cannot get rid of

It contains a live copy of all my favorites. Inside, there is another folder "All bookmarks" and another and another.
What is it? How can I get rid of him? I'm afraid that if I delete it, all my favorites will disappear.
I can't move it like I can other bookmarks.

If you delete the places.sqlite files then you don't end up with bookmarks in bookmarks.html file and Firefox will automatically import bookmarks.

For problems with the file places.sqlite (bookmarks, historical) database, you can check in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Add the new entry name of folder of bookmarks does not

(There's a reason I'm fool the previous thread on this subject, as well as my response to this: I couldn't find a way to add FireFox 10.0.2 to the tags of the thread.) If the thread tags may be edited/added, I wouldn't highlight problems with FireFox 10.0.2 by launching this new thread.)
RE add new bookmarks folder, can not enter the name of the new folder:

I am now having this problem with FireFox 10.0.2, 11/03/2012

When I click on add a folder, a new folder appears in the tree view and the folder name field is highlighted for the entry. But when I start to type characters in the field, I can only type 1 or 2 characters at the most seized stops accept input. I then go to the bookmarks menu, locate the new folder, right-click it, click Properties and complete the registration of the name of the folder.

At worst, the folder name field will cease to accept entry as soon as I type the first tank, in which case the name of the folder will remain as "new folder." I find the new folder in the bookmarks menu to change the name, as described above.

It is very annoying because it adds a number of additional steps just to add a new folder in the bookmarks menu. Add the new folder through the "Show all bookmarks" and navigate through the folder hierarchy are an alternative workaround, but that records all the steps.

    Any ideas or solutions?

    Hi John99,
It has worked well in Mode without failure. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm going offline a bit to understand what add-on, plugin, etc., could be causing it. In the meantime, I have marked your suggestion to use Mode safe as useful so that anyone else coming here could get the clue.

I should probably drop another line in the thread for the guy who in (or has been) using FireFox 7...

I'll post my results if I can understand it.

    UPDATE:

I went after any add-on which had nothing to do with bookmarks.

It was the first add-on I tried, SortPlaces 1.9.1 that automatically sorts bookmarks in various ways according to the parameters. When I disabled it, the problem disappeared.

I re-enabled it and checked the options to see if I could understand why she was stop to add the new folder. In the 'Options' tab, there is a time limit for how long interval SortPlaces will wait before you sort a bookmark changed or added. It was set to 3 seconds.

It is not long enough for old men by typing the new name of folder. I put it in 10 seconds. Then, I created a new folder of bookmarks and start typing a name long nonsense, while I looked at the clock. After that 10 seconds it stopped accepting the entrance, right on the mark. What this hidden for me earlier, it was that when he stops to accept input, you don't see the new folder to place in the position of sorting on the menu add a folder. You will see that if you expand the folder later. It's probably why I didn't connect the two.

Anyway, problem solved. I'm leaving the delay to 10 seconds. If I ever need to be longer, I'll just increase it.

Thanks again for the suggestion of Mode safe and enjoy the next season of mud.

  • Why can't I drag a file from the desktop to the folder of bookmarks?

I am trying to sort my bookmark folders in El Capitan, so I drag the folder on the bookmarks file (after the edition of bookmarks in Safari) on the desktop, open it on the desktop and the sort.  When I try to drag it to the folder of bookmarks in Safari, the file returns to the desktop.  I tried using the side bar and the window, using option, command, control, fn and SHIFT while dragging, and nothing works.  When I output folder, it returns to the desktop.  To work around, I create a new folder in bookmarks, rename it, and then copy the bookmarks to the new folder.  Looks like I used to be able to just drag the folder to the Favorites folder.

All solutions?  I have something on or off prevents him record a fall in place?

When you drag a folder of bookmarks in Safari Bookmarks.plist location on your desktop, folder and its content is converted to different formats that Safari has no way to convert in the original structure of Bookmarks.plist.

  • How to add all the tabs opened in a new folder?

I have 10 tabs open on a single topic, and I want to bookmark all at the same time, creating a new folder of bookmarks. Firefox 3 has this feature, but now I can't find in version 4 (I just upgraded).

You can go to bookmark all tabs by right-clicking a tab, or use the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + D

  • Cannot save a bookmark to NEW folder - FF wants me to rename the EXISTING parent folder

I can't save a bookmark in a new folder. This is the way that I take from the main menu:
    Bookmarks | Bookmark this Page
Click on the drop down arrow to the right of the folder
    Select Choose
Navigate to the folder parent in which I would like a new subfolder
    Click new folder
Then, rather than create a new folder, as it has always done in the past, it will highlight the folder parent for editing. If I type a new folder name, the parent folder is replaced by the new name. A new subfolder is created with the name of the new folder.

Things, I already tried that does * not * solve the problem:
-Remove and then restore bookmarks from a file backup saved favorites.
    -Execution of the add-on "housekeeping."
    -Rebuild the database of "places".

I have not yet reset Firefox or created a new profile but may try it if you gurus think it would help.

I use FF 32.0.2 on Win XP SP3.
I have hundreds and hundreds of bookmarks, but what I've read, there is no maximum size limit.

    Thank you in advance!

I thought about it! I kept scratching my head... whenever I tried to update, move or save a new bookmark, it moved very, very slowly. Sometimes, if I waited long enough, he would perform the action I wanted. But if I tried to push it along, it would have hard work (as described in my first post above). While it does take so long to manipulate and save the bookmarks file? It dawned on me... I recently set up sync with my mobile phone. So whenever I was saving a bookmark, Favorites file was also updated in Google sync account. Work with bookmarks has slowed down for an analysis! And it has destroyed my bookmarks file. No thanks, I can do without it. I disconnected Sync and immediately, my bookmarks and bookmark behavior are back to normal! Yay!

Of course, I don't have my synchronized Favorites in Firefox on my cell phone, no more, but I can live without this until the process is improved.

  • When you make a new folder in the "Page Bookmarked" pop up, it won't let me name the folder.

Usually, when you to bookmark a page, by selecting the drop down next to the 'file' box, you can press "New folder", and it create a new folder and allow you to name it.

Now, it often does nothing when I press the button, and when it does not have a new folder, it won't let me name. I have to go to my favorites, right click and go to properties and then change the name from there. It is very annoying.

You use Sync to synchronize bookmarks?

If you then try to disconnect from sync to see if it has effect.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • By clicking on "New folder" to save a bookmark, it changes just the current folder instead of create a new folder. This seems to be a bug.

Here are the steps I did it worked before and the unwanted results:
    -Click on the bookmarks menu
    -Click on "Bookmark this page".
-Click on the arrow pointing down in the folder field
    -Click on "select".
    -Click on "new folder."

          • No new folder created.

-So, clicked on one of my folders
    -Click on "new folder."

        • Here is just to put the file that I had previously selected in edit mode.

I wish to have a new folder, do not change the name of an existing folder.

Counting that I have 13 folders, I see two named "new folder", so maybe that's more a problem with the selection of the folder for the edition is that the folder has not been created. Whatever it is, it always seems to be a bug.

I followed the suggestion to disable the theme. Not sure if this has solved the problem or if restarting my computer (from hibernation) it is resolved, but it seems to work now...

Except, it is used to put the new name of folder directly in edit mode. A little annoying, but I can do this simply double-click the name highlighted.

I was able to rekindle my theme and it still works.

Links to secondary suggestions talked about issues I've ever lived.

    Thanks for your help.

  • How can I move multiple bookmarks to a folder in a new folder?

    Re: safari yosmite

How can I move multiple bookmarks to a folder in a new folder?

Go up that favorite-> edit bookmarks.  Then go up to that favorite-> add bookmark folder.

Right-click on the new folder, and then select "Rename".  Name you want to reflect the bookmarks that will be in it.

Then, go to the folder that contains the bookmarks that you want to move, click on it while pressing the command key.  Drag them out of this folder and the new folder.
