New folder on my D drive, consisting of 22 letters and numbers.

I bought a new computer, a couple of weeks with Windows 7. I have a hard drive that is partitioned into C and D.  Today I noticed a new folder on my D drive, consisting of 22 letters and numbers.  In this folder are the following of the $shtdwn files $ .req, 3 files with FAEF7E2F-A0E..., mpasbase.vdm._p, mpasdlta.vdm, mpengine.dll, mpengine.dll_p and MPSigStub.  Are these windows files? I ran my antivirus and software spyware no virus or spyware has been found.

Hello

The files that you are talking about are temporary files created during the process of updating Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials. You can delete these files and folders off, it won't be a problem.

Do, or you have installed Chrome? It appears that an update of Chrome, (mid April 2013), is responsible for the loss of the option new folder. Even if Chrome has not been installed, here are two patches.

  • How to create a new folder on the C drive

    I have Windows XP

Although you can follow these instructions, usually the place to create documents and folders is in My Documents (just so that you have all your documents created by the user in the same place).

I suspect that the reason why the instructions you have put my site in the root of the drive is to make it easier for the person who writes the directions when they eventually save you from things here.

Click Start, click My Documents.  This opens a Windows Explorer window, displaying the contents of your My Documents folder.

Depending on how your computer is set up (and which version of Windows you are using), you can see a blue column on the left side of the window with the title "file and folder tasks.»  See this image: http://onlineitpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/mydocs.png

If you have the blue column, simply click on the link that says "make a new folder".  A new folder appears at the bottom of the list in the right pane with the mention "New folder" highlighted.  Just type my website and press Enter and the new folder will be renamed my Web site.

If the blue column does not appear, simply click on file (upper-left), and then New and then folder.  It is exactly the same only by clicking on the "New folder" link in the column of file and folder tasks.

If you want to follow directions exactly, after you click Start > My Documents, just type C:\ in the address bar and click on the Green Go button.  This will change the display of your My Documents folder to the location where the instructions as you put the folder.  Then follow the rest of the instructions above.

  • Creating the new folder to external hard drive

I've searched the forums and found many discussions on this, but I'm in a quandary.  I have an external hard drive Seagate 4 TB with about 2 TB of data backed up to it.  I was obviously saving data on this external drive without any problems.

Today, I tried to move my MacBookPro some data on the external drive and was unable to create a folder.  Reading the forums, I checked my permissions and it shows now that I have "Read only" permissions  In addition, it displays the disk formatted in NTFS.

How is that possible?  Everything was going well, 8 weeks ago.  How can I fix?

Reformat the drive for use on a Mac, NTFS for Windows machines, the drive to Mac OS extended (journaled) format

  • After you have moved a large number of emails in a new folder, number of emails that are unrelated in time and the topic themselves grouped into son

Recently, I moved a large number of emails (filtered by sender) in a new folder I created in Thunderbird.
The emails themselves arranged in threads that are independent of any discernible factor. Some e-mails with 7 years in dfference are strung together. Also, date / reception function triage is not properly sort, IE the new emails are not at both ends of the sort, nor in the nets. Once again, no visible trend.
I checked on gmail, where emails are hosted, and none of these issues is apparent.
It's important questions to find emails, especially since when I enter a search term in the filter and it has no result, but then generate results when I use the search function.

OK, right click on the folder, select properties and then repair. Just in case that helps.

  • How to "create a new folder on the hard drive?

I have a printer Hp 648 with a W98 CD, that will not work for XP.  To download the XP driver on the HP site, the first step is to create as above.  Do not have any idea how I can do this and can't find anything in help.  Must be a folder that begins with c:\.

On C:?  In run, type in "c:".  Explorer will open and you will be in the root directory, alias 'hard drive' c:.  You can then make a record here.  You know how to do this, right?  Thus, the file will be located at c:\hithereiamafolder.  Very easy.  Type c:.  Make the folder.

  • I moved the files in Lightroom 5 from one drive to another (created the new folder and dragged).  Now I see warning of metadata.  What has caused this?  Can I import or rewrite the difficulty catalogue?

I am reorganizing lots of photos in Lightroom 5.  Some who were on my hard drive, I moved to an external drive.  I did all this in Lightroom.  I created a new folder on the hard drive, external, selected all the images in the folder on the hard disk, trained to the new folder.  Made sure they were there.  Then deleted the folder on the hard drive.  When I looked in Windows Explorer, the (empty) folder was still on the hard drive, so I deleted it there too.  Now, I get the warning on the images in the new folder metadata were changed in Lightroom and an external program.  The options are to import from disk or rewrite from the catalog.  I would like to know what caused this and how to fix it.

Thanks for the clarification of Nancy.

The warning of "metadata conflicts" is an indication that Lightroom "sees" a discrepancy between the data in its catalog and the data in the image file (or in the xmp file) on the real situation which could be due to permissions at the new location.

You should choose the option to replace the parameters, that is, rewrite in the Lightroom Catalog can write changes to metadata of the catalog itself.

(Import of the disc would cancel the metadata changes that you did until now)

  • Not able to make a new folder

I have a laptop HP Windows 7.  I tried to create a new folder in several locations photos and Documents, as well as on my Sandisk Flash Drive and it does not allow me too.  I click the button new folder on top of the box of windows Explorer and nothing happens. I even try right-click and scroll down to New but it shows new folder here.

Thank you very much. I had to try more than one thing, they provided, and finally it worked. I was going to give up, but I'm happy that I kept scrolling down and reading the other posts to see if there was something else that might work.

Now, type mkdir  folder_name, where folder_name is replaced by the name you choose for your new folder. Press ENTER. Remove and check.

I'm new to Photos and you want to export an album of about 120 photos on my desktop but their export in the file instead of being on my office individually. Any ideas how to do this?

Use the Finder to create a new folder on your desktop. Then open the pictures and click twice on the album, and then use the command A key combination (or Edit menu Select All) to select all the records in the open album. Using the file menu, export command and in the second window (after pressing the export button in the first window) select the folder that you have created with Finder - or you can skip the first sentence of my instructions here and click the button new folder at the bottom left of this second window of export and use it to create the new folder.

    Create a new folder

Folders are a convenient way to store and organize files on your computer. For example, you probably want to create folders in the Documents and images to help you manage your files. You can create an unlimited number of folders and even store folders inside other folders. Folders located inside other folders are often called subfolders.

    1. Navigate to the location (the desktop or a folder) where you want to create a new folder.

    2. Right click on an empty space on the desktop or in the folder window, point to new and then click folder.

    3. Type a name for the new folder and press ENTER.
