    Hello
I wanted to update my SP2100 with a WD1200BEVE. (120 GB of WD).

Copy of disk via USB + speakers worked, but after changing the disc nine does not start: the laptop hangs up with blinking cursor.
Already checked that the partition is active and even a new installation from a CD of XP has the same result! The BIOS seems to accept the drive (if not installing via CD should have failed) so where is the problem?

    Any tips?

    Hi Kannengiesser,

Which is really strange that you can t start up disk even it s recognized in BIOS correctly...

You have the Toshiba Recovery disk? If so, you can try this disc factory settings. If it works, it was just an installation problem.

But I couldn't imagine also that the new HARD drive is not working properly last week I had a similar problem. Made a HARD drive upgrade, but a few days later Windows didn't start because the HARD drive had a bad sector, now I'm waiting for a replacement drive.

    Monastir,

What happens when it stops it is have a Sata driver. It is on the drivers cd you received with your computer. You can also start the computer and press F2 to enter the bios. From there down to Configuration system - SATA Operation and change this to ATA. It is located to AHCI. Save the changes and restart the installation. Once you have loaded Windows and drivers installed, you will need to go back to AHCI.

  • Can't reinstall XP service pack 3 on the new hard drive, will not cross of EULA

Computer VOstro 220 (Dell) under the age of 18 months. Internal HD died and was replaced two weeks ago with a HD internal 320, the speed of 7200 Western Digital. (Micro Center, a computer store large installed the HD that I bought at the store)

I used the OEM "reinstall Windows XP service Pack 3" DVD.  With F12 I put the computer to boot from the DVD.

DVD boots, I chose the option to install the OS

Fisrt I see the message that the program checks the material. No error message

Then I see the screen with the words "Windows Setup". Five minutes later, Microsoft EULA (end-user contract) is displayed.  IT does not scroll, I used the arrow keys on the keyboard to get at the end of the EULA was waiting for some kind of "type option"I agree". But there is nothing.

Nothing more happens. No additional configuration.

What is the problem? What should I do to get the Windows XP installation to continue?

Why not install the operating system?

Anywhere between 5 and 20% (depending on the production) new hard disks are defective. Test your drive with the factory utility.

  • Re: Tecra 9100 - new HARD drive is not detected

I have a Toshiba Harddisk provide a Tecra 9100. Checking the BIOS it shows "Enhanced IDE", but you are trying to boot from the disc does not work HARD. Even trying to install a new operating system present, that the HARD drive is not detected.
From the laptop is also very long.
    Any idea?

Your new HARD drive is larger than 120 GB? The HARD disk controller supports the 28-bit LBA and large drives as 120 GB will not be recognized by the BIOS.

What you mean with Enhanced IDE? The BIOS recognizes the new HARD drive with model number?

  • New HARD drive is not recognized on Tecra M1

    Hello

I am new to this forum, so apologies if this is an old question.

My Tecra M1 gave a quality service for the past 6 years, but recently, the Toshiba management console has put a message saying that the HARD drive will fail quickly.

I loaded immediately turned off my main files before you remove the HARD drive. It is a Toshiba MK6022gax 60 gig IDE hard drive. I bought a new disc of gigabytes of 60 MK6022gax, but when I mounted this same I got the error message "error ide #0". Installation XP or the BIOS can see this new record.

I then reassembled the old HARD drive, which started OK. I then mounted the new disk in a USB enclosure, initialized, partitioned and quick formatted using the XP disk management. He picked up OK. Then I copied some files to it and read them back with no problems, then the drive itself works very well. But when I plug as the main 'C' drive, I get the error message again and is not recognized by the bios or XP put in place.

Clearly, there is some BIOS (?) or startup procedure I have to do to get this recognized record. Help!

I have Tecra M1 long with 60 GB HARD drive. Right now, I've updated compatible HDD TOSHIBA HDD 2184 B.
I can confirm that the HARD drive is recognized correctly and I actually have the new install of WXP Pro.

In any case, have you tried to upgrade the BIOS to the default settings?
As far as I know that nothing should be set before you put the new HARD drive and it must be recognized correctly.

  • Satellite M30x - new HARD drive does not work

    Hello.

I am installing a new ATA 2.5 "internal hard drive for my Toshiba M30X-166. The drive is a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 120 GB model. The laptop does not recognize the disc and no related error message appears, and in the BIOS, it shows as "HD not available."

I put this drive in an external USB - IDE enclosure and was detected by my desktop PC, and I was able to partition and format the Momentus, so I know the drive is indeed work, but my M30X still does not detect the drive.

What can I do to make the laptop recognize this unit? The BIOS M30X is: Phoenix EAL20 version 1.90.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello!

Have you tried another HARD drive? The new HARD drive is may not compatible with the laptop or does work does not correctly.

Normally, a 120 GB HARD drive should work because the laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits and so you can only use hard drives 120 GB.
In the worst cases, the HARD disk on the motherboard controller is defective :(

    Good bye

  • After the new HARD drive does not start installation Qosmio G15

I just got this G15 last week and one of the hard drives was bad. Put it in a new Bay 2 and it does not start. I took it back and it starts fine. I even changed the main hard drive Bay 2 HD and it starts up fine with a hard drive. It's something to do with the scores, I think. Any help appreciated.

    Hello
I think that the boot order has been the bad HARD drive in the BIOS.
At the new disk you do not installed any OS, and in my opinion, this is a reason for starting problems.
Simply access the BIOS and change the boot order

  • New hard drive does not appear in the disk utility

I am installing a new hard drive in my late 2011 13 "MacBook Pro. I started using apple's online retrieval system and went to disk utility. I tried to format the drive, but he is stuck saying "remove disc" for about a half hour, and then I had a rotation beach ball and could not move the cursor. I restarted the computer and now the drive does not appear in the disk utility. Any help is appreciated as I have no idea where to go from here.

    Thank you.

You will may be turned off and check that your hard drive is correctly positioned with all the screws tight.

  • New hard drive, need to install Windows. How to do?

I installed a new hard drive in my Toshiba laptop. I've had Windows 8 before and would like it installed again, but don't know how? Buy a disc?

You can download the files to install Microsoft here, but that will not include the special Toshiba drivers and software.  Without the special software of Toshiba, will not work a lot of things on your computer, such as your video driver and keyboard/trackpad.   You may be able to download the Toshiba drivers later on the Toshiba site.

It would be better to just get the official installation disc Toshiba Windows 8, Toshiba can send you if you call them.

  • G62: New hard drive does not start after recovery.

I installed a new hard drive after my old a bi dust.

I ran the recovery from the discs of HP.

After formatting the disk and copy files, it won't boot from the disk.

I changed the boot order and tested the drive in the BIOS.

    What Miss me?

The new hard drive sometimes requires to prepare first with utility cd from Cyberlink. Download and save the file. Once the download is complete, place a blank cd in your drive and click on the file to create a boot cd. Start with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicates the hard disk is ready. Remove the cd, insert the first disc of recovery and restart the laptop.

  • R51 new HARD drive will not restore factory correctly state with discs

I caught a HDD of 80 GB on old computer my gf, and I thought I would use it to replace the 40 GB hard drive in my ThinkPad R51.  There is not really important info on my old hdd, so I just created a factory recovery disks, put on the new hard drive (both are PATA) and ran from Rescue and Recovery.  After completing restore to factory state all the new hard drive will do is Rescue and new Recovery charge.  It does not load Windows.  Is there anything else I need to do?

Shot in the hip here, but ISTR that some versions of R & R restore the image of 'restoration' in HD, then you restart to R & R and run a restore it to complete the restore of the rest of the car.

As I said, just something I've seen elsewhere.  Worth, perhaps,

  • (brand new) hard drive 0 not found (Latitude D600)

    ======================================================

I know this has been discussed a lot, but I have not found a solution.

My laptop is a Dell Latitude D600, BIOS Version: A16

My HARD drive died last week, he was making noises that I made backups.

Of course, one morning I turned it on and it says '... ". hard drive 0 not found... »

So I thought right we'll buy a new one, no big deal. In this case.

But to my horror, the brand-spanking-new HARD drive made me exactly the same thing!

Costs of the antistatic packaging, directly in the cradle, with tenderness.

"First hard drive 0 not found '.

No bootable devices - strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for Setup utility.

Also, the BIOS reads my "main hard drive: ' as 'None '.

    I tried: -.

-Replace (re-attachment for cradle clamp, tighten, etc..)

-reset of the BIOS (pressing ALT - F)

-internal 'HDD' isolation in the "boot order" (BIOS)

-startup WinXP CD to format (says also that it cannot detect a HARD drive)

-stroked and tweaked every possible BIOS setting

-a ran the diagnostics (well Yes, tells me that it cannot find a HARD disk)

-check the temperature (not a problem at all)

I bought my D600 to opportunity without boot floppies or manuals, and private security has passed.

I'll try to take out the battery for a day to see if that will be "flash BIOS" but I can't help you as (to my knowledge) the motherboard settings remain stored with the help of a small battery attached to the actual motherboard that would be inside the envelope, so I think it's a misunderstanding in another post on the forum , but I'll try it in desperation anyway. Next step would be to open the envelope and checking the IDE and remove the battery from the motherboard for 5-10 minutes.

After that, my only option is to send to some local business PC repair. Ick.

Any help will be VERY appreciated! Thank you.

  • New hard drive does not start

I have a T61 with XP on it. The factory hard drive was beginning to show its age, so I got a 500GB WD Black drive for her. I used Acronis True Image to clone the old hard drive to the new. I used my counter top to do the cloning. When I plug the new disk in, the cursor just blinks and it will not start.

I thought that maybe the clone was bad, so I put the new drive hard back at the top of my desk and is able to boot all the way to the windows start screen. If I plug the old drive in the laptop, it starts very well, simply refuses to boot from the new drive.

    Guessed it.

Put the new hard drive into the computer, put the old hard drive in a USB enclosure and done a CD boot Acronis, and made the clone of the laptop. Runs like a champ and now flies.
