  last week my Dimension 2400 poop outside, orange flashing light power, no beeps, no ABCD lights, nada... A service technician (phone) told me that the motherboard was probably bad. I replaced it with a new one (http://ascendtech.us/Itemdesc.asp?ic=MB4DELL2400UNV&eq=&Tp=)

  It turns out that the mobo was very good and it was the power supply. Replaced, works very well. kept the new mobo.

  Everything runs great, the problem is that at the start of the wizard detects new hardware:

  -Ethernet controller

  -Multimedia audio controller

  at the back of the PC, a LAN led is green, a solid orange. Everything is connected correctly because the Verizon Fios connection is strong (I'm on my laptop using the WAN connection now).

  I read a few other threads need an ethernet driver, but nothing I have install seems to help.

  Can you? Is there something that I am missing? I need my LAN back!

  Question: Replaced mobo moose that crashed.

  Original HP mobo crashed.  Replaced by superior version 2.0 than the 1.2 that it came with, but same manufacturer.

  Getting two errors:

  1. at boot up -: incorrect serial number of chassis

  2. Windows 10 boots and works very well - did not need to reinstall the o/s - but does not activate Windows 10

  Solutions?  Is there a way to solve this problem without reinstallation?   Something in the BIOS/EUFI requiring an update?

  The Windows XP license is a license to the full retail version or did it come preloaed with the motherboard that you are replacing?

  If it came preloaded with the motherboard, you can not transfer it to the new motherboard. If it isn't, you can reinstall on the new motherboard and then use it as a qualification license in order to use the license of Windows 7 64-bit (if its an upgrade).
