  • new owner, old computer: how to change the property?

I get back from a near-fatal brain injury. A friend gave me his old laptop and permission to try to help in my rehabilitation. I am trying to appropriate, without losing access to his files (which I'm currently collecting and unload on other media), and without sacrificing the software so that it is already paid.

  • I have install update Adobe Acrobat reader on my computer a few weeks ago. I was not able to print my documents, new or old. I use win 7. I tried to uninstall the program and re - install, and that has not worked. I went to the HP tapes

I installed the update of Adobe Acrobat reader on my computer a few weeks ago. I couldn't print my documents, new or old. I tried to uninstall the program and re-install and that has not worked. I went to the HP website and from the down loaded the latest printer drivers, and that did not work. I went to tools for the production printing package that reads 'Add' tab. I clicked Add and got a (1-800-915-9430) number to call if I want to pay other services that offer Adobe. I called the number in the hope of getting my answers to the question and that has not worked. I've gotten has been a long wait (1 h) for a person to respond to the call and when they meet a poor service. I went to different forums looking for answers and found my question but not response. The messages I get are: "the document could not be printed" and "there is no page selected. Is there a solution to this problem? The version of window is Win7.

    Hi Abhishek,

I followed your instructions and none of it worked. I had to uninstall Acrobat Reader and then update my version of the window. After that I downloaded Acrobat Reader again and it worked. Thanks again for your help.

    Hello

The HP Solution Center program is affiliated with your old printer, it have nothing to do with the most recent 8610 printer.

I would say running the 7310 below installation selecting uninstall, which will remove all the components of your old printer such as the driver of the printer, the HP, the features of HP digital imaging solution center to avoid such confusion:

  • Computer XP versus, Brother printer with the IP address of the old computer inside info.

my daughter has a 'new' xp windows computer, but still has its old brother mfc printer.  the printer prints the computer because its IP address is from his old computer. I have tried everything and you can't change the numbers mask IP, gateway or subnet on the printer in the menu.

can someone help me?   PLEASE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, THANK YOU

I contacted the brother who was a 6 hour ordeal to get no. WHERE.  online, it says hit the + button until NETWORK appears, there no + key!

I can copy documents without any problems.

also the scroll on the mouse does not scroll while she has to slide to the bottom of a page to read slowly.

    Thank you!!!

If the computer is connected with a USB cable (which is what you describe), then IP addresses of the computer and the printer are simply not relevant to the printer connection.  The printer's IP address is used ONLY if the printer is connected to a network using an Ethernet cable (which is the picture above in my previous post).

Now that we know what is wrong, we will try to understand why the printer does not print.

Probably the easiest way to proceed is to uninstall the printer (assuming that it has never been installed, which seems dubious) and then reinstall it.

I'm going to assume that you don't have the CD that came with the printer (if you do not have the CD, see pages 16 to 18 of the Quick Start Guide).

The following instructions are "Article One" of Cori Bright (http://www.coribright.com/windows/Article_One.htm) which unfortunately seems to be offline at the moment:

    1. Unplug the printer from the PC
    2. Go to the control panel and click on Add/Remove programs.  Highlight any printer software that is listed here.  Select Remove.  (Note that simply delete the Brother here software)
    3. In Control Panel, click printers & faxes.  Right click on the printer in question and select delete
    4. Look at the toolbar.  Select the file, then server properties. Look in the tab drivers.  Highlight the printers drivers listed here and click on remove for each one.  [(Notez que vous n'avez pas à supprimer les pilotes pour les autres imprimantes).]

      4. Note that brother has a 'Uninstall tool' which should perform steps 2 to 4.  I have no experience with this tool, that's why I gave you the manual steps above.  I provided the link to be complete, not because I think that you need to use this tool: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/dlf/000000/002700/dlf002701.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc440cn_all&type2=2&os=7&flang=4&dlid=dlf002701

    5. Restart the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer!
    6. Go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer.  Search for new XP drivers for your model.  Download the correct software.  If there is no Windows XP drivers for your printer, try to watch those for Windows 2000.  In most cases, these will do almost as well.  For the Brother MFC-440CN, go here--> http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_index.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc440cn_all&dlid=&flang=English&os=7&type2=-1 download the file named "Full Driver & Software Package."  Make sure that you are connected as a user with "Computer administrator" privileges before you do the next step.
    7. Run the exe that you just downloaded.  He has auto-démarrer Setup
    8. The software will tell you when to connect the printer.
    9. Once the software is installed and the printer connected, try a test page.  He should feel great now!
  • I have the new Windows 7 computer. Also have the HP office jet 5510 printer range. Printer does everything except printing color photos.

Windows 7 Professional Dell computer. HP Office jet 5510 printer all-in-one. Just had to plug in printer for it to work because the drivers are automated by Dell and HP.

Printer does everything but images printing color. Pics. out in black and white. I think I tried everything. This has happened since the new computer.

Nothing to do with the printer that used to be useful on the old computer is left as the amount of ink etc. I printed everything in color. It's just the pictures.

Hope this is enough information. Thank you. Muriel

  • Transition from old computer to a new Windows XP computer

I brought a personal computer and you want to install Windows XP Home Edition from my old slow computer to the new computer. Also, I don't know the old computer. Please advice how can I do?

If the license on the old computer is an OEM license, sure you can not because it is linked to the original computer its installed. If it is a full commercial license, you can. Just make sure you have all of your required drivers for when you are installing.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to fix "invalid Id"then produced transfer XP from an old computer to a new one?

My old computer was damaged by lightning so I bought a new one and am now trying to load XP on it;  but the product key 25 character on the certificate of authenticity at the entrance is met with: ' the kid of product you have entered is not valid.   Assuming that the code has been transcribed exactly where should I go from here?

If you are using a version of OEM Windows XP product key only lights up on the original computer it was installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer.

If however you have a "Full" version of XP, then you can try phone activation.

Not that some new computers not support XP, so check the web site of the manufacturer of the computer XP device drivers for your specific brand and model.

  • Photosmart 6515 - how to remove old computer in network list on the screen of the printer? Thank you!

Bought a new laptop to Windows 8.  Software problem so had to 'recover' back to the original configuration.  When I setup, I have assigned different "computer name" to it.  Now my printer HP 6515 is still ad old computer as the connection name.  How delete/erase this old name?  Thank you!

    Hey,.

I want to assure you that I understand the problem you are experiencing.  You bought a new laptop from Windows 8, but had a technical problem.  When you restored the PC you have created a name different from the PC to the laptop.

«Now my printer HP 6515 is still ad old computer as a connection name.»

This quote is the part where I'm a bit confused.  For starters, it is a Photosmart HP 6515?  And when you say it is listed as a connection, what do you mean?  Do you mean that the old name of PC is still on the menu of the computer analysis?  Or do you mean that the SSID (network name) of your router is the same as the name you had this laptop originally named?  If the second is the proper case, then the SSID of your router is separated from your PC and is possible that the 2 simply shared the same name at some point.

I would like to know a little more detail on where this name is seen and what you mean so I can better tell you your problem.

  • I got a new computer (an old dies) new a windows vista and I have to disable the old computer before I load the same copy of Vista on my new computer. If yes how can I do this?

I got a new computer (an old dies) new a windows vista and I have to disable the old computer before I load the same copy of Vista on my new computer.  If yes how can I do this?

If Vista is preinstalled on your OLD computer, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

A single license is a single Installation.

If it is a retail Vista license, read the information on the clean install and then reactivate it:

  • New Win 7 computer cannot access the IP address of the network printer. Help, please.

    Greetings,

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: we have found the solution to this problem, we, and that I posted an explanation as well as two ways to solve the problem in my 2nd post on May 5, 2015. Scroll down to it for the solution. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not allow the OP to mark one of their own messages as 'the Answer' so this thread continues to be listed as "no answer" when he actually answered me.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    The original message follows...

We cannot sign a new Win 7 (64-bit) computer to a printer ethernet established in our local network of 'working '. We have reached the limit of our troubleshooting skills and expertise assistance.

    Our Local network
    ------------------------
The printer is a Dell 5100cn workgroup laser that is connected via an ethernet cable to a 10/100 workgroup switch 5-port Cisco/Linksys. The switch is connected to the built-in cable Motorola modem / 4 port gigabit router / WiFi access point. There is no server between the printer and the network.

Other computers on the network run also Win 7 and have no trouble seeing and using the printer. Some computers are connected via a gigabit ethernet cable to the router Motorola. Other computers connect wireless WiFi (once again, by the same Motorola device). All computers, including the new ones, are attributed to the same workgroup.

The printer has a static IP address. It also has an integrated Web page accessible within the network via a browser to view the status of the printer. All previous computers can view the status of the printer Web page by entering its IP address in a browser.

    The new Win 7 computer
    --------------------------------
At the Windows command prompt, we successfully ping the IP address of the printer and received a return signal. However, we are unable to connect to the IP address of the printer (and status Web page) with a browser. And we cannot find the printer when install us the printer driver. We have tried to turn off the Windows Firewall and it did not help.

When we install the driver, move us as a 'local' printer and create a new "Standard TCP/IP Port" for her. We enter the static IP address of the printer and name the port. Define us the Protocol to "LPR", enter the name of the queue ("lp") and activate SNMP State with name of the 'public' community and the index "1". These settings have worked very well with our previous computers.

When the time comes to 'choose printer', we select 'have disk... '. ' and use the Dell 64-bit for this printer driver. But it does not work and do not print a test page. We even tried to install the printer as a 'network' printer driver, but it does not, either. In addition, the 'local' method always seemed to work best in the past.

The new computer has no harm to see other computers and devices on the network. For example, there is a NAS connected to the same switch Cisco/Linksys like the printer and the computer can access the NAS via its static IP address. The new computer can also access the internet. He can't use the IP address of the printer. We even tried to change the address IP of the printer, but that did not help either.

Despite the fact that the work - the network troubleshooter Windows command prompt ping indicates that the printer is not responding. What do we lack? Help, please.

    Greetings,

I hope that this will be our last post on this subject. We have discovered the source of the problem and can offer two 'fixed' in case someone else runs into the same situation.

With the help of MSConfig and a process of elimination, we have disabled non-Microsoft services that were running on the computer until we discovered that "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service V2" was the source of the problem.

    Explanation

    ----------------

Our new Win 7 computer contains a communication module ethernet/WiFi/Bluetooth e2200 Qualcomm Atheros. The manufacturer provides a '' Killer Network Manager '' for this system. Its purpose is to monitor and control the flow of data over a network connection in order to optimize for. For example, the user can choose to give the program A high priority and program-B low priority. This ensures that the program-A is less lag in the network traffic.

The primary market for this function, so far, has been the online game (where the name of 'Killer'). It allows players to channel the bulk of the bandwidth available to their game and away from other programs and services that are running at the same time. A response faster online gives the player the advantage it needs to get "kill him" before someone else.

This system of control of bandwidth has interfered with data packets of return of our network, clearing communication between our computer and our printer printer.

    Difficulty 1

    --------------

The simplest solution for us was to disable 'Qualcomm Atheros bandwidth control' for the ethernet NIC that has been accomplished by going to: Windows Control Panel > network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > change the settings of the card (in the sidebar). Then we clicked on our connection to the LAN (our NETWORK ethernet card) and select the 'Properties' command Finally, on the Networking tab, we have disabled 'Qualcomm Atheros control bandwidth' and clicked 'OK' button to close.

All that was needed after that was a quick restart and we were able to access our printer even with the killer Network Manager and functioning of Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service V2.

Either way, we left the control function of bandwidth enabled for wireless (our) network connection because we do not plan on using this network printer when the computer is untethered to ethernet.

    Difficulty 2

    --------------

If you don't want the killer running Network Manager on your computer, you may be tempted to uninstall. Do not! Uninstall will also uninstall the drivers needed for your ethernet, WiFi and possibly your Bluetooth as well. We heard that some users have communicated with Qualcomm and were able to coax, on their part, the necessary drivers comm without luggage "Killer". But you don't need to do it, either.

All you need to do is: (1) remove the 'Killer Network Manager' of the '"start up" folder of the start menu of Windows (under "programs") and (2) using MSConfig, uncheck "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service V2" under the ' Services ' section. Then reboot and you're good to go. The killer Network Manager and his service will not work.

Moreover, the reason for which we did not chose this method, ourselves, is because we see one deserves that available Killer Network Manager so that we can block network traffic to select programs. Solution 1 converts this easy thing because the Ethernet bandwidth control can be quickly activated again if she is ever desired. And we're leaving it enabled for our WiFi.

    Best regards, David-EH
