New Vista 64 bit, Office 2003 crashing Word

I have a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium.  I had dropped the old laptop XP one too many times :)  I installed Office 2003.  Excel and Access have worked without any problem, but a problem with the word which seems to begin from Outlook.

Word will work very well.  It seems not to matter that I opened in Word for this problem to start.  Most things just go bad after I click on "Reply" to an e-mail message.  When it takes too much time to open the mail of answer, I know that the following will happen:

Outlook will tell me something about the word is only not available while Outlook will be used as the e-mail editor.

I opened the word document will look normal, but I won't be able to do something for her.

Any word document I opened after that will open Virgin.  It opens, I get a number of characters in the lower part that is appropriate, but the page remains blank and I have all the letters of type I do not appear.  If hit keys, I will be prompted to save the changes when I close the file.  I have not tested to see if they save the good thing.

I can open a new document, but with the same issues as opening an existing document.

I looked in the event viewer right after the last word failure and found an event corresponding to the Type of the error event.

Failing application WINWORD. EXE, version 11.0.8169.0, time stamp 0x465f2a40, module WINWORD failed. EXE, version 11.0.8169.0, time stamp 0x465f2a40, exception 0xc0000005, offset 0x00801c66, process id 0 x 1040 code, start time of application 0x01c9a0d849758b30 the fault.

There are a number of these recorded events, and they might just match whenever I had this problem.  I didn't look there before.

I used "repair" probably 3 times and uninstall/reinstall 5 times in 2 weeks.  (Uninstall/reinstall is faster, btw!) Everyone gets Word works again, but it's only a matter of time until the problem recurs.  The problem occurred with the "as installed" version updates (including SP3) Office 2003 and once installed.

My computer is a Dell Studio 1537 with Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2 GHz.  4 GB of RAM, 64-bit operating system.

This can solve the problem.  I am running XP with Word 2003
Winword.exe 00801c 66
AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 11.0.8169.0 AppStamp:465f2a40
ModName: winword.exe ModVer: 11.0.8169.0 ModStamp:465f2a40

fDebug: 0 Offset: 00801c 66
I struggled with the crash "Word has encountered a problem" whenever I tried to apply a style or apply a list to chips/numbered.  It was already edited by someone else in Word 2007 documents, I am using Word 2003.
I tried to open the document with the option "Repair" in the open dialog box.
I tried to repair my installation of Word.
I tried to paste the text incriminated in a Notepad document, save, close and re-opening, paste into Word (works initially but finally got the error after additional changes)
I tried to remove my normal.dot so a new would be created.
I tried to delete the temporary file that is automatically saved in the same folder as the document in question.
Read the documentation for MS on the resolution of problems with Word and followed their instructions to search the modname and offset (in my case winword.exe 00801c 66)- and not found an answer, just the thread you found above.

.. .and FINALLY the frustration deleted ALL temporary MS Word files in the folder where the document resides, and that solved the problem.

    Hello

    1. When you get this blue screen error normally, while using the computer, or work on a specific application?

    2. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

There are a number of causes of BSOD BAD_POOL_HEADER, the most frequent causes are bad drivers associated with the video/sound/network problems HARD drive, memory problems and also card motherboard/BIOS can sometimes cause it.

I suggest you try the steps from the link below, which you would have to resolve stop (blue screen) error in Windows 7.

  • virtual serial port? Vista 64-bit, usb, palm 755 p verizon dongle

I have a new Vista 64 bit operating system and I'm having problems that everyone else is still.  Can't hotsync using the cable.  I bought the dongle bluetooth (Kensington) that many have said works.  My phone recognizes the PC.  My instructions on the phone that warm using bluetooth synchronization tells me to set up a virtual serial port.  The instructions are not very clear.  This is where it falls apart for me.  Can someone explain how to configure this virtual serial port?  Thank you.

Well, I'm pleased to announce a successful solution.  On the recommendation of some other son that I left and piece and ioGear GBU321 Bluetooth USB key and Setup was a snap and it works (although SLOOOWLY compared to a connection cable, a while and plug your treo during your first sync).

To setup you do the following (and this can also work for your Kensington):

    • Insert the driver CD
    • Insert the dongle when asked.
    • Install the drivers
    • Pair your device.  Basically, go to the configuration Bluetooth on the Palm screen and select "Trusted Devices".  You will find the bluetooth adapter, select it, and then the Palm or PC will provide or ask a pairing code.  The instructions will guide you through, but basically, you'll want to make sure that the same numbers are registered on both screens (this prevents you from accidentally pairing with some random near the computer)
    • This will actually set up your virtual port for you.
    • You can go to the hotsync Manager and click on "serial" and select the port created in the pairing process.
    • If you don't know which port has been created "Control Panels" and select "Phone and Modem" (assuming that you are in "Classic view").
    • Click on the modem tag and you will see something like 'Standard Modem over Bluetooth link' and next to that it will be the assigned port.

I hope this helps.  I know that I was relieved not to have to trash my Palm or my PC (although when the Pre or iPhone with a physical keyboard comes out all bets are open)

The malicious software removal tool does not use an installer. As a general rule, when you run the malicious software removal tool, it creates a temporary directory named at random on the root of the drive of the computer. This directory contains several files, and it includes the Mrtstub.exe file. Most of the time, this folder is automatically deleted after the tool to the end of execution or the next time that you start the computer. However, this folder may not always be automatically deleted. In these cases, you can manually delete this file, and this has no adverse effect on the computer.

  • get windows pro 64-bit and loading in office 2003 old xp pro it will work?

I intend to get a new HP and want to save all my files and programs on it.  In particular the office 2003, Excel, I want to spend another $200 on new Office I use particularly excel with it.   A question going to work because it is 32 bit and I will a 64-bit.  Second question, why can't I just use the free office software on the net, instead of desktop with some of my co-workers who have the Agency to share excel spreadsheets and letters of the word?  Thank you.

    Hello:

You can transfer your files and they will be open in an operating system to 64 biot.  You cannot transfer your programs - none of them, not because of the thing to 64-bit, but you can't just.

You will need your installation of program diskettes or if installation files they are stored somewhere on your PC and on your new loading.

If you have the Office 2003 installation disc or the installation executable file on your PC, you can copy that and run that he and you should be OK, as long as it is a retail version of Office 2003.

If Office 2003 is installed on your PC when you bought it, most likely it is an OEM version and the license is not transferable in any case.

As to your second question.  You can certainly use an Office suite open source to run on your new PC that will view, edit and save Microsoft Office files.

    I recommend this one:

  • Office 2003 and 2007 coexist in vista, but updates for 2003 do not settle

I am running Vista family (64-bit) and have the two 2003Pro Office 2007 Pro and installed. Windows Update tries to install 4 updates to Office 2003 including service pack 3 but install still fails without an error code. Someone also told me that they don't think that Office 2003 and 2007 can coexist on my installation, is it true? I have not installed Outlook 2003 and 2007. I installed Word, Access, excel & Power point.

  • Vista 64-bit update crashed my computer

My office has a great until last night updated (December 13, 2011) auto Windows Vista 64-bit.  At the stop, I noticed that I had the option 'install updates day and then stop' to highlight.  I chose this option, and he told me that he was installing a large number (12? 16?) of updates.  I left the computer to do its thing.

This morning, my wife turned on my computer to discover that she was crashing on start.  It is just at the point where it recognizes my Raid 1 profile (has a yellow 'Verify', I noticed), and then gives me the screen error-'Windows doesn't have to correctly install the drivers' or words to that effect.

I am now trying to 'fix' by booting from my drive to Vista 64.  However, it was posted the same page/message for about 30 minutes now:

    Startup Repair

Your computer could not start.  Startup Repair is checking your system for problems... etc etc.

Is there anything wrong with this machine before updates last night.  I use McAfee Anti-virus, which is updated.  Grrr!

I seems that the Raid array was the issue.  As a final attempt to solve the problem, I physically unplug one of my two hard drives and rebooted.  When restarted, the computer scanned the remaining drive, fixed some data corrupted, then started successfully with Vista.  I reconnected it the reader who then 'checked' himself to another.

Still and all, it's a real "IN." these updates to Windows for this to a computer running normally.  I can't be the only person in the world running under Vista 64 that has a Raid 1 configuration.  Microsoft needs to do a better job with these updates.

Thank you for taking the time to help me with my problem.

  • Office 2003 does not work on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - Bit

I have two new computers that came pre-installed with W7HP 64 bit and both are pre-installed with the product obviously not commercial office 2007 which we do not want to use.  I own copies of Office 2003 and use these products on new computers.  I tried loading Office 2003 on a PC and had a lot of errors especially trying to run Outlook 2003.  I am now using Thunderbird as it works and really miss Word/Excel 2003 - (Office 2007 ribbons wah! what were you guys thinking!)

I have also 16 bit score test programs written and compiled years using Quickbasic 4.5 specific use in my practice.  Any ideas on how I can get those pennies W7?

I understand that there is a professional version of Windows 7 that integrates WOW64.  This will allow me to run Office 2003 (Outlook esp) without errors?

    Can I run programs QB4.5 with W7Pro?

If Yes, please indicate how should I proceed?

    Gordon and Marilyn, thanks

  • After the installation of Office 2003, Word hangs on a Tecra A3

    Hello

On my Toshiba Tecra A3 (1.86 GHz Pentium, 1 GB RAM) I had until yesterday Office 2000 it emits the ideal way.
Now, I installed Office 2003 and I am unable to work with Word.

The program hangs on each file that contains a single piece of simple photo or clip art. I can't believe it. A re-setup of Word did not help. Now, I installed again in parallel Word 2000 and it works flawless.

THX if someone can give an opinion

    Antonio Giarrusso

    Hello

You must perform a new installation of Office 2003.
First remove all files and the former software office 2000 registry keys and then perform a new installation.
After the installation of Microsoft Office 2003 Download all patches and updates on the Microsoft site.
The use of the CCleaner is very useful, because this tool checks the programs and the entries in the registry for certain shortcomings

  • INSTALL OFFICE 2003 ON NEW COMPUTER, NO DISC

    Hello

My computer crashed with office 2003 against it and bought a new laptop. I would like to know how to install office 2003 on the new computer, I have no cd or touch more.

    Impatience on your part.

Simple you can't... you need... installation source such as a cd or a USB key with the installation files. Then you need a code.

If you do not have access to these more you need to buy office or you can try to use openoffice. It's a similar to ms office free office suite.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
