New Win 7 64 bit PC delivered. Questions: upgrade to CS5 to CS4.

Just got my new Win 7 Pro 64 bit PC. My old PC which is still up and running is a XP Pro 32 bit OS and Photoshop CS4 installed. I will be upgrading the 'new Win 7 64 - bit PC' for CS5 64-bit.

It is true that the PS can be installed and operational on 2 PC? Can I have PS CS4 running on the old 32 bit and be able to install PS CS4 (64 bit) on the new PC? I know that I will be forced to install CS4 on the new PC to get the CS5 upgrade to install. (Even if the CS5 upgrade is a complete installation, you should check the installation of CS4)

I have seen different answers to the question above and would like to know the procedure that I have to take to get PS CS5 64-bit installed on my new Win 7 PC. CS4 would probably be uninstalled on the new PC after checking the CS5 works ok.

Should not have an impact on the issue, but the new statistics system are:

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

ASUS P6X58D Premium Mobo

I7-980 X Extreme

12 GB OF RAM

GeForce GTX 260 Superclocked

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide!

Check your license agreement (I think that it is also available @Adobe)

As far as I know, you can install on 2 computers... the idea being an office and cell phones for travel

You don't usually need installation to upgrade... everything you need is your old Serial # to enter when asked

  • Satellite Pro L550 - 17U PSLW9E - question of the HARD Win 7 64 bit disk recovery

    Hello

Basically, when I got the laptop it had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit installed.
I created the backup disks, as asked it the first got scratched and gets stuck on the installation, I can install the 32-bit version (the CD it came with) and I tried to create a new 32-bit system recovery disk but it creates just a 32 bit recovery disc (which I already had the appropriate drive).

Just to see if there is a way to restore the 64-bit system without having to buy a new version of windows?

    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 32-bit (Toshiba-Recovery DVD)

    Hello

You reinstalled the operating system using the Toshiba Recovery disk which contained the Win 7 32-bit operating system. The recovery of 32 bit Win7 has formatted the whole HARD disk and has deleted all partitions (recovery partition HARD drive containing too many Win 7 64 bit OS)! and replaced with Win 7 32 bit.
This means that Win 7 64 bit is no longer available on the HARD disk.

In my opinion, there is nothing to do you will need to order new Win 7 64 bit recovery disc.

  • Legal upgrade (and activate) for Win7 64-bit Windows XP 32-bit WITHOUT overwriting current (replacing) Win XP 32-bit install?

I use version OEM Windows XP HOME 32 bits on a Gateway desktop computer - with no problems.  However, the hard drive is to reach the end of its planned life expectancy, and approaching the period of support for XP.

To solve the problem, I installed a new (small capacity) hard drive, with the intention to install Win 7 Pro (64 bit) on the new drive.  I read and reread ALL instructions on different help pages (for installation) (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/)... and avoided all of the common problems.

Currently I have the old (Win XP) and the new hard drive physically assigned to DH0 DH1 - as a CUSTOM, run Setup. -leaving me with a choice of dual-boot to initialize the top between "Earlier version of Windows" (on DH1) and Windows 7 (on DH0).  They both starts without any problem.

HOWEVER - during inspection, I see that the folder "OLD Windows" on Windows 7 drive in a VACUUM.  This indicates that installation of Windows 7 does not recognize the existence of my current installation of Windows XP on the other hard drive?  Upon activation, I get the dreaded
    "Windows 7 activation error: 0xC004F061.
because "a previous version of Windows wasn't on your computer when Windows 7 was installed. To install an upgrade version of Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP must be installed on your computer. "

The new Windows 7 must be installed on the same drive as the old Windows XP  In order to activate the 'upgrade '?

I have no problem with the drudgery of migrating my data and install applications from one drive to another with an empty directory "OLD Windows" - as long as both car are mounted.  My only question is to know if the 'new' Win 7 64 - bit OS SHOULD replace the old XP 32-bit operating system in order to Activate the newly installed operating system Win 7 64 bit.

Is there an 'Official' Microsoft document that answers this question?

    Thank you

  • New Win 7 computer cannot access the IP address of the network printer. Help, please.

    Greetings,

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: we have found the solution to this problem, we, and that I posted an explanation as well as two ways to solve the problem in my 2nd post on May 5, 2015. Scroll down to it for the solution. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not allow the OP to mark one of their own messages as 'the Answer' so this thread continues to be listed as "no answer" when he actually answered me.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    The original message follows...

We cannot sign a new Win 7 (64-bit) computer to a printer ethernet established in our local network of 'working '. We have reached the limit of our troubleshooting skills and expertise assistance.

    Our Local network
    ------------------------
The printer is a Dell 5100cn workgroup laser that is connected via an ethernet cable to a 10/100 workgroup switch 5-port Cisco/Linksys. The switch is connected to the built-in cable Motorola modem / 4 port gigabit router / WiFi access point. There is no server between the printer and the network.

Other computers on the network run also Win 7 and have no trouble seeing and using the printer. Some computers are connected via a gigabit ethernet cable to the router Motorola. Other computers connect wireless WiFi (once again, by the same Motorola device). All computers, including the new ones, are attributed to the same workgroup.

The printer has a static IP address. It also has an integrated Web page accessible within the network via a browser to view the status of the printer. All previous computers can view the status of the printer Web page by entering its IP address in a browser.

    The new Win 7 computer
    --------------------------------
At the Windows command prompt, we successfully ping the IP address of the printer and received a return signal. However, we are unable to connect to the IP address of the printer (and status Web page) with a browser. And we cannot find the printer when install us the printer driver. We have tried to turn off the Windows Firewall and it did not help.

When we install the driver, move us as a 'local' printer and create a new "Standard TCP/IP Port" for her. We enter the static IP address of the printer and name the port. Define us the Protocol to "LPR", enter the name of the queue ("lp") and activate SNMP State with name of the 'public' community and the index "1". These settings have worked very well with our previous computers.

When the time comes to 'choose printer', we select 'have disk... '. ' and use the Dell 64-bit for this printer driver. But it does not work and do not print a test page. We even tried to install the printer as a 'network' printer driver, but it does not, either. In addition, the 'local' method always seemed to work best in the past.

The new computer has no harm to see other computers and devices on the network. For example, there is a NAS connected to the same switch Cisco/Linksys like the printer and the computer can access the NAS via its static IP address. The new computer can also access the internet. He can't use the IP address of the printer. We even tried to change the address IP of the printer, but that did not help either.

Despite the fact that the work - the network troubleshooter Windows command prompt ping indicates that the printer is not responding. What do we lack? Help, please.

    Greetings,

I hope that this will be our last post on this subject. We have discovered the source of the problem and can offer two 'fixed' in case someone else runs into the same situation.

With the help of MSConfig and a process of elimination, we have disabled non-Microsoft services that were running on the computer until we discovered that "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service V2" was the source of the problem.

    Explanation

    ----------------

Our new Win 7 computer contains a communication module ethernet/WiFi/Bluetooth e2200 Qualcomm Atheros. The manufacturer provides a '' Killer Network Manager '' for this system. Its purpose is to monitor and control the flow of data over a network connection in order to optimize for. For example, the user can choose to give the program A high priority and program-B low priority. This ensures that the program-A is less lag in the network traffic.

The primary market for this function, so far, has been the online game (where the name of 'Killer'). It allows players to channel the bulk of the bandwidth available to their game and away from other programs and services that are running at the same time. A response faster online gives the player the advantage it needs to get "kill him" before someone else.

This system of control of bandwidth has interfered with data packets of return of our network, clearing communication between our computer and our printer printer.

    Difficulty 1

    --------------

The simplest solution for us was to disable 'Qualcomm Atheros bandwidth control' for the ethernet NIC that has been accomplished by going to: Windows Control Panel > network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > change the settings of the card (in the sidebar). Then we clicked on our connection to the LAN (our NETWORK ethernet card) and select the 'Properties' command Finally, on the Networking tab, we have disabled 'Qualcomm Atheros control bandwidth' and clicked 'OK' button to close.

All that was needed after that was a quick restart and we were able to access our printer even with the killer Network Manager and functioning of Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service V2.

Either way, we left the control function of bandwidth enabled for wireless (our) network connection because we do not plan on using this network printer when the computer is untethered to ethernet.

    Difficulty 2

    --------------

If you don't want the killer running Network Manager on your computer, you may be tempted to uninstall. Do not! Uninstall will also uninstall the drivers needed for your ethernet, WiFi and possibly your Bluetooth as well. We heard that some users have communicated with Qualcomm and were able to coax, on their part, the necessary drivers comm without luggage "Killer". But you don't need to do it, either.

All you need to do is: (1) remove the 'Killer Network Manager' of the '"start up" folder of the start menu of Windows (under "programs") and (2) using MSConfig, uncheck "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service V2" under the ' Services ' section. Then reboot and you're good to go. The killer Network Manager and his service will not work.

Moreover, the reason for which we did not chose this method, ourselves, is because we see one deserves that available Killer Network Manager so that we can block network traffic to select programs. Solution 1 converts this easy thing because the Ethernet bandwidth control can be quickly activated again if she is ever desired. And we're leaving it enabled for our WiFi.

    Best regards, David-EH

  • Questions KB and mouse wireless Microsoft with Win 7 64 bit

    Hello

There could be other messages like mine, but I find it here, with exactly the same problem.

I have a problem with my new Setup: Windows 7 64 bit and a Microsft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v3 and MS Wireless Mouse 6000 v2 (he came as a set).

Now it works perfectly with my Windows XP system. I have now on a new computer, Win 7 64 bit. The mouse and the keyboard are now 'Skip', where they seem to ignore the entry for a second or two from time to time. As a first step, I let Windows 7 load its own drivers for these. After the mouse wheel input strange (no scroll bar on an active window would scroll to the bottom with no way to stop it) I downloaded the Intellipoint for the KB and mouse drivers and disabled the intellipoint Control Panel scroll wheel.

I have changed the batteries, moved the receiver to different USB ports, but nothing helped. I have antivirus running. Wi - Fi KB and mouse works fine on this same machine, in the same USB ports.

    I would appreciate any input.

    Thank you

    Hi gamma,

    Thank you for your message.

What is your make and model of computer?

What are the sounds like interference might be the issue.

Other wireless devices and certain appliances can interfere with wireless KB/mouse.

Is there a wireless router near the receiver for the KB/mouse? This also will cause a microwave oven.

Even if the mouse is located in front of a computer and the receiver is at the back of the computer.
interference of the metal casing of the PC can connect properly.

In order to better clarify, if you move the mouse backward through the office (left to right continuously for a minute) is the stop of pointer or freeze at any time?

If so, I suggest to perform a clean boot to see if a startup program may conflict with the resources of mouse/KB:

  • Question of memory about the implementation of win 7 64 bit

I have an Acer 8920 G Intel [email protected] running win 7 64 bit.  under Vista, I had a limit of 4 GB, with Win 7, I can increase my memory to say 8 or 12 GB?  I think the limit is 16 GB right?

I've updated a lot of systems.  I suspect your new Vista machine, was a 32-bit version.  32-bit systems can not 'see' more of about 3.25 G of memory, no matter how you equip with.

64-bit systems can theoretically see a lot more.  The limitation will be with the chipset and BIOS of the particular model.  Yours has 2 memory slots.

According to my experience, two systems of 4G equipped that are identical in all directions but is 32 and 64 other results in 15% performance improvement.  In addition, Win7 is about 10% faster than Vista SP2.

Problem is the manufacturer produces a model, provides updates of the software of the chipset and BIOS that allow these improvements, but never reissues sheets.

I found many systems including the specs say 2 pcs 2G each are at max.  In many of these systems, I discovered that they handled 2 PC 4 G each without problem.  Make sure that your BIOS is the last before trying this.

It is essential that the 2 PC's are matched.  If they do not match, the memory does not work in mode Dual DDR2 is capable of.   Also, see if you can find the specifications for the memory CASE latency rate.  Some systems will not accept a higher speed and strips of larger memory than if they are provided with the right latency memory.

Your probably provided with 2 PC 2 G DDR2 667.  I would not be surprised if DDR2 800 is not working and thus produce improved performance.  I found that this was the case in many systems.  You will find some DDR2 800 and 667 cost the same.  If the system will not work at 800, your 800 memory works well, but speed 667.

No, there is no way to do it. You can move the data to the new computer
but you can't do anything with the installed Windows 32-bit or the
installed program. Everything must be installed from scratch.
