New XPS 13 (9333) noise Constant

I recently got a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB ssd and windows 8.1.

I like much this laptop, but it makes a really weird noise. It happens constantly as soon as its power, sound like a high-pitched hum from somewhere under the keyboard. It seems also pretty inconsistent as she sparkles in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g. Navigate Web pages), it gets stronger.

Can someone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

So here is my last update to this thread for as long as I can foresee.

Currently, if you are looking to buy a laptop and taking into account the XPS 13, look elsewhere.

I talked about this for 2 weeks now with different members of Dell technical and customer support. Let me Preface no matter what else I say beyond that point by saying that all the world that I spoke was courteous and respectful. I'm not knocking the person I spoke to everyone, but the experience of the customer service that I had always left me frustrated. Let me explain:

My question is more that Dell continues to sell a broken product that they have no solution for, and as far as I know, do not know how to fix\when it will be fixed by. I went through two XPS 13 years last week that both have the problem of whining reel, even after asking specifically to send is not a second 13 XPS without having someone at Dell it check the problem before you send it to me. I ignored, and now I have two laptops, I don't want that I must return.

The thing is, I was ready to forget about all that. Despite the headache so far, I'd give it a go with another XPS 13 as long as she was not the problem. There must be at least ONE XPS 13, which now produces Dell which is not bad, right? Nope. They couldn't even promise that they have one machine do not suffer from problem reel whining. When I described all my results of various experiments of troubleshooting and problems symptom, it seemed to be largely ignored as they gave me generic answers that were not really related to the conversation, I was trying to have with Dell. With the exception of one or two of the Tech I spoke too, most individual seemed to just shoot me the phone\chat or didn't really care to help me (and their company) solved the problem. It is not sure at all and does nothing to help me telling me that I should probably buy computers more of.

Dell, this post is a wake up call. Your top-of-the-line laptop is broken, and you continue to sell everything, knowing that you cannot produce a computer laptop today that does not have the problem of lamenting of coil. I practically begged you to take my money and give me a phone works without problems, and you can not do even that. For the love of everyone here and your own, HARDWARE of YOUR DIFFICULTY!

  • Hum/stuttering during audio playback on xps 13 9333

    Recently I had a few problems reading any kind of media.  At regular intervals the audio will gel/jump for a second and make a buzzing noise, and then resume.  This happens with the music and video streaming. If I'm watching a video, the screen will freeze for a second, buzz, and then resume.

    I use a xps 13 9333 with 8.1 Windows 64-bit.

    I tried everything I could think, update all my drivers, reinstall codecs, running anti-virus and cleaning on my system.

    Any suggestions?

    I found a solution 2 days ago Dell installed an update for dell support assist and dell support agent, when I removed these programs from the Control Panel, the problem disappeared.

    I have windows 7 64 bit (dell XPS L720X).

    General information, I originally had this problem two years ago and it was related to McAfee Anti-virus. My guess is his do a periodic analysis or something like that.

    I just got a new 8900 XPS running and ordered a Sandisk X 400 1 TB SATA III M.2 drive for her.  I know, adding that a PCIE SSD with adapter would be much faster.  But I'm not a gamer and concentrate more on edge backup and storage.  And the new Sandisk card gets good reviews and should give a nice speed boost.  This will be my first attempt at cloning of a new boot disk and install an SSD.  I went through the forum and found some good information.  A few questions...

    One of the sons said that an SSD with the B and M keys (like this one) may not work.  Searching the Web I found no comments from anyone who has tried this particular SSD in a new XPS desktop.  No compatibility issues?

    Another thread has been posted problems with starting the XPS 8900, when you add a new disk, but the updated BIOS to 2.1.3 seemed to be the solution.  I confirmed that my machine already has this version of BIOS.  Once again, any concerns?

    My plan is to clone again SSD in the computer using Acronis or other software, then set as the boot drive in BIOS.  Is there a reason to delete the operating system of the C: drive, thereafter, or can just stay as a backup if problems occur with the SSD?

    I have already installed a few programs including MSOffice 2007 and Windows Essentials, so I can use the machine, but otherwise it is always very clean.  When I do the clone will be these OK execution since the SSD without much messing around?  And they will have to be uninstalled from the HARD drive?

    I'll answer some of my own questions.  The M400 Sandisk SSD drive arrived today and I found a screw M2x4 at Ace Hardware to install it with.  Installation was super simple.  I used a pair of pliers to hold the small screws in place and then a Jewelers screwdriver to fix it.

    He seemed to take more time for the first start that made me nervous, but all loaded without any problems.  I rebooted and that you press F2 to get into the BIOS and the new SSD was there!  And then let the computer loads Windows and checked Device Manager and it's still there!

    As expected the reader not yet appear in Windows because it was not formatted.  I used under Computer Management disk management to initialize the disk.  And now I have a new drive I: 935 GB free.

    So far so good.  Seems like the M400 Sandisk should work perfectly.

    Next step is to clone.  Always blazing new territory for me... when the drive is cloned it will remain I: or it will be C:?

    I've not seen a chart explaining flashing power on the 8900 XPS button codes. And there is nothing in the Manual.

    You need to contact Dell tech support immediately. You have 21 days from the date of billing (no delivery date) to pick them up. And then you can order another.

    Otherwise, technical support should work with you to solve the problem under warranty on this system.

    If you are comfortable working inside the case, it is possible that something got its place potted during shipping. Then you can try reseating the RAM and PCI-e cards modules and cables between motherboard and drives and connection etc. Don't forget to read the instructions on the inside of your PC use in the manual before opening the case.

    Hello. It is under the screen. If you look at the top above the screen, in the Center is a group of camera and its light and sensor. Off to the right and to the left by an inch or two are 2 small holes. It is the pickups. They are part of the camera - all one unit.

    If you go to the XPS 13 9333 assistance page and click on manuals you will see links to 3 documents. Quick start guide both specifications indicate the location of the physical characteristics of the laptop. (The other named document manual is the service manual for the replacement of parts).

    I can't turn off Adaptive brightness on the i5 HD 5500 1080 p on new XPS 13 version.

    Once I consult a dark page, the screen turns off, and when I discover a brilliant page, the screen will get brighter. It's extremely embarrassing, and all the options I've tried have not fixed this issue.

    Disabling the option of Adaptive brightness to activate in the advanced power settings does nothing. I have on all levels of electrical energy.

    There is no option to turn off what should be in the Intel Graphics Driver.

    Disabling the sensor monitoring Service doesn't fix or the other.

    I have the latest version of the Intel graphics drivers. Uninstall, it doesn't fix or the other.

    Install another operating system doesn't fix either, so I guess that it is some kind of hardware problem.

    Does anyone have a solution to this annoying problem?

    To be clear, there is no solution to this problem. No amount of software configuration will fix it. Dell engineers have confirmed that this behavior is controlled by the firmware of the screen.

    Last I heard, Dell is working to expose a switch in the BIOS that would disable the Adaptive function contrasts, although they would not give an ETA on when the BIOS update would be available. (source)

    I have tried everything to sleep, work on my XPS 13 (9333) running Windows 10 but I can't get it to work reliably: sometimes he sleeps OK, sometimes the machine blocks at the launch of sleep, and sometimes it crashes on a wake from sleep.     OK, I think I've made some progress - a full day of use of laptop with multiple tests of sleep and no crashes. Googling 'sleep of intel management engine' offered some indications that the problem with the Intel ME driver. It was version 11.0.0.1157 on my machine (1607) of Windows 10 anniversary update - I've upgraded to the latest version (11.0.6.1194 at time of writing) and it seems to have solved the problem.

    Provisionally this marking as the suggested answer.

    I'm kind of a nube to the Windows world, I use Macs for 25 years and I go to Dell. A new XPS 15 9550 should happen on my porch every day now. Many people suggest reinstalling windows on the new machine, but I don't know why. I have the desire to remove bloatware but there must be some useful software on a new computer Dell that I really needed. What is the consensus here, what I would, that I let go?

    You will hear the pros and cons to reinstall Windows on a new computer. Some people do not want a lot of the software that is installed on a new computer. Personally, I think that it is better to make your own decision once you receive the computer. If you find that you don't like or have any use for some of the software installed on the computer. feel free to uninstall it. I bought a lot of Dell computers and have uninstalled programs that I don't use. Regarding the reinstallation of Windows on a new computer without any problem seems to be a waste of time. Unless of course you have to practice installing Windows, Drivers, and software. It is best to take your own decision, given that you are the person who bought the computer.

    This is a brand new machine with Win 8.1, a SSD boot drive, etc.

    I need to get in the BIOS so that I can prepare for the recovery with Acronis backup program. This program will generate a recovery disk or flash drive. If my boot drive does not start, I will use the recovery point, but I need to have the BIOS first try to start from that before the C drive.

    Reading messages on the Acronis forum, I heard for the first time on UEFI - I barely understand what it is - but apparently, a replacement for the BIOS?

    Is it likely that my new machine has UEFI rather than a BIOS? and how do to it? Press a function button for the system to start? A person on the Acronis forum suggested to win 8.1 to restart and hold the SHIFT key while doing.

    I do not experiment on my PC unless I am sure it is the right method. This is my 4th Dell-all previous versions came with a manual that could give me the answer to a question like that.

    The "missing manual" is perhaps on the Dell website?

    Your system is UEFI.

    As the UEFI systems start very quickly, you start typing (do not hold) F2 as soon as you power on open configuration. Otherwise, it will just start normally from the hard disk.

    Alternatively, you can start to type F12 as soon as you turn on that should give you a start with options menu to boot from the optical drive or USB. Note: To boot from USB FlashDrive bootable is connected before you turn on the system, otherwise it does not appear as an option in the menu of F12.

    Another problem with my new Dell XPS 13 (model 9333) - for any reason, during loading or no, changes in brightness screen without saying me things to do (she just made right now by writing this sentence!).

    I found a setting called "enable adaptive brightness" which seems to turn off this nonsense.  On Win8.1, it is:

    Power options > change Plan settings > change advanced power settings > display > enable adaptive brightness

    I have a new-(9550) XPS 15 - 10 Pro Windows

    I'm getting problems with the Wi - Fi connection, dropping intermittently.

    I have an another two other laptops from dell and the wifi connection is rock steady.

    I have updated drivers wifi at latest on the dell site Communications_Driver_NYN84_WN32_1.519.0.0_A01. EXE

    I have also flashed the bios according to the dell website:

    XPS_9550_1.0.7.exe

    Finally, I removed the wifi devices drivers completely and reinstalled

    However my wifi connection drops always. The only way to restore is to switch off wifi on the laptop, then on again.

    Please can you help me?

    Looks like I found the solution.

    Turn off all power saving for the wifi card.

    More specifically,.

    1. go in control/material Panel and power sound/options/change of setting.

    2. click on advanced power settings.

    3. scroll the settings of the wireless cards

    4. mode of energy saving, located on the battery for maximum Performance.  All hooked up to a maximum return

    As I set these options 3 days ago, my wifi was completely stable. Hope it helps guys too.

  • Adding an SSD to a new XPS 8900 - the games begin

    I recently bought a new 8900 XPS of Costco. I bought an Intel SSD 240 GB 535 and wanted to use it as a boot drive and I was going to format and use the 1 TB came with the PC as a storage device. Initially, I cloned the drive OEM to the new SSD. This worked not so great - slow time - about 35 seconds of startup.

    I did a clean install of Windows 10 and tweaked the settings of the UEFI. Computer started without the OEM disc hung at this stage. Current start time is about 26 seconds. A little more than 18 seconds of playing with BIOS/UEFI. None of the changes to the BIOS seemed to make any changes. I was going to live with that, but I have 2 laptops to win 10 that are to start in 11 seconds and 8 seconds. I had just about everything responsible for appropriate programs.

    Then, I started with the hanging OEM drive and the boot SSD drive. I went to the OEM drive format and startup I'm met with screen ePSA error error Code 2000 - 0723 - hard disk - drive detected... (which apparently is not a code that recognizes Dell?) Continue to hit, I'm on the desktop. I already had the installed Intel SSD Toolbox and optimized the SSD drive. I did a quick diagnostic analysis on the SSD and it reported no problem.

    Restarted the PC and press F12 to run the tests in the Dell Diagnostics. I now see an error code 2000-0142. It indicates there is a hard drive with the new SSD failure. I have restart beyond the error message and make the Intel Full diagnostic Scan. Intel shows no problem. Hmm? I turn off the computer and unplug the SSD and starting on the OEM disk. I get the same screen ePSA that already displayed, press to continue and I'm at the office level. Reboot, then run tests, the hard drive now and it passes all other tests. I turned off the computer, removed the power cord, the CMOS battery and the power button. Back together and clear the log files. I'm met with the same screen ePSA error code 2000-0723.

    I have an another SSD - 240 GB of SanDisk. I unplug the drive OEM and plug Intel and SanDisk. I cloned the Intel on the SanDisk and only to the SanDisk card. Same screen ePSA opens, but now the diagnostics Dell passes all the tests. I run the Intel driver update utility, which displays no update. Device Manager displays all operational systems.

    If you have done so far, I appreciate it. :-)

    Questions-

    Reference Dell sees something he does not like with the Intel SSD, but Intel said it works fine. I could return it, but I think that there is nothing wrong with the hard drive. I don't know what to do next.

    How can I get rid of the warning of the ePSA? It appears little matter what hard drive boots.

    Is there an other BIOS/UEFI which is available? I've pretty much exhausted the changes and 18 seconds a looong time appears.

    SSSANTI - good news! error code 2000-0723 has gone through an update of the bios dell version 2.1.3. Check the support page for the download file.

    A word of warning - update not gotten too smooth I would have thought. I ran the exe of the BIOS and let it do its thing - when he finished update, the computer is for restarts itself, and it seemed as he took in a loop - it would be marketing and then shout down before the splash screen. He made several times - I almost unplugged the machine. Finally, it starts at the start-up screen and then end the initialization up to windows - everything was fine. I rebooted a couple of times and even made a cold start to ensure there are no problems and everything seems OK.

    Disconnected a hard drive test, rebooted and no mistake - FINALLY comes

    FYI - it seems that it starts a little faster.

    Bought, new system XPS 8900.  After less than a week, already affected by HARD disk errors.  Checked with Seagate, downloaded the tool so that the updates of the firmware.  None is available.

    Yes, the system is under warranty and support, but the point here, because I hear repetitive as of late problems with faulty Seagate hard drives, I'm not the only one?

    After installing an mSATA SSD and try to configure Intel RST to use as cache SSD, I found that the installed version of RST was causing system problems and establishment of acceleration would not occur.

    After a brief visit to the Intel Download Center, I found an update for Rapid Storage v14.8.0.1042.  I installed it without problems, and since all the software and hardware problems have disappeared. Then, I was able to complete the configuration of acceleration for the SSD cache drive.

    In addition, HARD disk errors have also stopped.  I would recommend this updated version.

  • New XPS 8900, restarting itself

    I just bought a new desktop XPS 8900 computer rendered 25/05/2016 and restarts itself.  No new hardware installed or the program with the exception of World of Warcraft and Ventrilo.   Just really started using this machine last week because I've been very busy after his arrival.

    I search the web and he says that he may be PSU related issue.  It's under warranty, but no idea why a new computer restarts it self?

    Windows 10?

    There are several reasons possible, hardware and software: PSU, RAM or HDD problem, overheating, corrupted the OS or other software...

    Just restart? All the errors on the screen? You can look in the Windows Event Viewer for errors at the time of an accident that could point you in the right direction.

    If you bought directly from Dell, I think you have 21 days from the date of the invoice (not delivery date) to return to contact Dell Tech Support as soon as POSSIBLE.

    If you got in a big box store, you can probably return/exchange it under whatever policy they have. So go.

    Whatever it is, don't forget to reset Windows to the factory image, before return you it.
