Newbie question of color management

Hi people

using cs4. just finished a CMYK job on a new press. colors on the final print job were pretty loyal to what I saw on my screen when you design, with a few exceptions I want to tweak if possible. I'm new to color management, so looking for some advice.

According to my research, the right thing to do is to ask a colorsync or icm or icc of my press profile. I did... but my press was a little confused and sent me a bunch of .icc files and I don't know that one to load. people in the press are great people and it's a good press, but I had the feeling that they have not been asked this question a lot. so I ended up using U.S. web coated (swop) v2 profile, which is what they recommended in the end.

so if I can't get one of my press icc profile, the other approach according to my research wing and adjust the color on my own profile so that what I see on my screen match the printed output. in other words, I take the printed output and hold it up to my screen and manually adjust the color profile settings. I think that this is done in photoshop under edit-> assign the profile and/or edit-> color settings, and then synchronize the color management for all applications using the bridge. Maybe it is possible in indesign? I ask the question on this forum because of the excellent answers that I'll be back here.

I don't want to screw things up and I'm a newbie with this, then advice out there? My basic situation is that the colors were reasonably loyal but there was a very curious thing where a c = 0, m = 0, y = 35, k = 15 color looked very green on the printed page even if it was a soft yellow on my monitor. I want to try to adjust that.

Thank you...

You have a colorimeter and monitor profiling software? It is the starting point of all color management workflow. You also need a pretty good monitor that CAN be calibrated. If the monitor isn't showing you exactly the colors, then nothing do you will to matter.

Matching the print monitor is an old technique that works only when you have a closed loop where all the work is output on the press even under the same conditions. The purpose of the peripheral use independent publishing spaces, such as Adobe RGB, which is in theory everything correctly calibrated monitor will display the same image, and you can convert any space of output known at the time.

Terms like watching soft yolks are quite subjective, so I don't know what you expected, but I do not expect 35y, 15 k to be very clear, nor very yellow. While I would not characterize as green color on my monitor, it is certainly not resemble a banana, and beside a clear yellow could be called it greenish in comparison. It's really a yellowish gray clear, in my view.

I put up a comparison here to see what it looks like, but the colors won't be accurate in a browser.

  • Yet another question of color management

    Hi people,

I have read several of the very detailed color management messages/discussions here already but that you did not find the answer I'm looking for. So I hope that some experts might be able to save me time and the entry...

I'm under a Windows 7 (32-bit) environment with a Dell screen Ultrasharp u2711 attached. I left the monitor prepare to close on 30 minutes and ran an 'Easy' calibration with Lacie's eye - one device using the Gretag Macbeth 3.6 software. (I guess I could have used the calibration of the "Advanced" option but thought that I would allow me to save time and has always been pleased with the results on my older Sony CRT).

I'm under LR3.2 and CS4. Viewing images in LR RAW skin tones are much too saturated, but when I export images as sRGB JPEGs results seem very nice when displayed in the (much less saturated) Windows Photo Viewer. If I open the same image in Internet Explorer, it is identical to the way she looks in LR. (I haven't installed so have not compared to Firefox). If I open the image in CS4 by default it has the same appearance it does in Windows, but if I change the format of RGB monitor test it corresponds to what I see in LR and IE.

I guess it is somehow related to the new wider gamut range that the monitor can display (compare to my previous CRTs). I read in one of the messages of Jao that LR is always right and other unmanaged applications will do weird things on high range screens. IE is not color managed then why it display very similar colors to what I see in LR, when the standard Windows image viewer displays much less saturated color (which seems to be the opposite of what others are experiencing)?

I usually always export to JPEG sRBG images usually go online, but this series is going to a customer who will be most likely took to printing and viewing on a PC.

Looking forward to your comments on this.

    Kind regards

    Chris

Can anyone confirm 100% if the Windows in Windows 7 Photo Viewer is color managed?

    This is the case.

Check out this thread on the calibration range as your monitors. Adobe RGB is perhaps not the best starting point, and certainly the luminance to any monitor that is used for the treatment of the image must use 120cd/m2 as an absolute maximum. The best results will be obtained my ambient light control (monitor hoods etc) in order to use around 100 cd/m2 luminance values or less. A decent calibration device should be able to measure the ambient light and the recommendation on the lowest luminance setting allows you to calibrate.

  • problem with printing: color management question

I've been printing this document for some time now without any problem, but now when I go to print this error happens to say something about the color management is inconsistent. I tried to create a new one using an old document but nothing allows me to print. Also tried updating illustrator by CC.

Need help as soon as POSSIBLE.

It of just a guess, but try to assign a color profile of the document first. It is under Edit > assign profile.

  • Pavilion 14-n204sf: Radeon 8670 current driver does not allow for color management

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. The problem, I do face is quite simple: after I've updated 8670 M Radeon driver for my computer in August I immediately found that color management system was not working. Cannot use an ICC profile, impossible to calibrate a monitor (I tried X-Rite and the built-in Windows, both failed tool), any feature dealing with color management had simply disappeared from my machine and was replaced by an error message - aaargh!

At the time I found that all the problems have disappeared as soon as I rolled back the Radeon driver to the previous (IE. July 2015) pilot and learned how Windows 10 not not trying the upgrade of this driver more. Of course, the problem was caused by a major bug in the new driver, but a simple tunraround should just continue to use the previous driver. So far so good.

But now things have only become worse. Due to a problem with a software, I tried to find the current driver Radeon, which turned out to be the dreaded August version, with the result the same mess as before. When I tried to roll back this driver again for the July version working, I had the very bad surprise as (1) "Roll back driver" in the control panel is gray now as if there was no previous version, and (2) it is not possible to find the version of June on the website of HP - or elsewhere also.

So: How/where can I get the driver of 8670 M Radeon dated July 6, 2015, so I can use my computer for my work in photography again? I can't believe that it is not possible.

And of course, I have a second question: how is it that no new version of the driver has been released since August to set a such obvious flaw? I hope that someone will take the time to solve the problem and deliver a pilot fully working soon.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    HI @jlb21,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

I understand that when you install the graphics driver updated for Radeon 8670 M in August you have lost your color management system did not work.  Once you cancelled the driver in the device manage everything was good again.

Because of a software problem, you must reinstall this driver. When you checked the Device Manager there is only the version of the driver available August and you do not have a roll back driver option.

You can try to uninstall the driver and then search for the driver, try a Windows driver if available to determine if it would help.

As you have 10 Windows installed I don't know if you still have the recovery partition. If not and you have recovery media, you can try following the steps described in the following document.

Computers HP - using Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 8)

If the driver in question was provided with your original operating system and you have no support for recovery, you can get a kit of HP support recovery.    You can ask if they can check if all drivers have been updated on the recovery kit that I don't know.  I don't know if they can verify this information, but it does not hurt to ask?

Please contact HP to Contact HP Supportassistance.

Please let me know the results.

  • Satellite A210-171 - how to check the color management

I work with the software digital painter on my laptop (satellite A210-171)
Because my colors are not the same when printed (with the help of a printer of Dell A.I.O.) told me to check my Colour Management on laptop.

I go to control panel and click on color management
Then I see a generic PnP monitor - when I click on the drop down menu next to it I found that my printer is listed.

    What should I do next?

As stated in my other ads, I know only a teeny weeny bit about the computer so please if someone is kind enough to answer, step by step instructions gratefully appreciate

    Sue

    > If there is someone who can fix this error please do, so I hope that I will get an answer to the question
Why you n t he correct yourself? You can change the own message!
But it looks like someone already did

I guess that your laptop uses the ATI graphics card. So, the ATI Catalyst Control Center should be available.
Usually, you can set some parameters of color in ATI Catalyst Control Center-> color

  • Re: What update display driver affect color management settings?

    Hi all!

I received a message on the new update of the display driver and I have a few doubts about the installation. When I installed an update of the BIOS driver, all the parameters of the BIOS returns the value default ones, but in this case, it wasn't a big deal to put once again according to my needs. But I spent, probably, half a day, adjusting the color using color management, and I really want to keep the settings I've done. So, please, tell me, if updating the nVidia driver assigns these parameters and if there is no way to save them? Thank you very much!

    Hello

If you install a graphics card driver, your bet will be set by default. To be honest, I see no reason to update the drivers if the system works well. I always use the same drivers that I downloaded before and do not update again. On the backup of the settings, I don't know how to do it. Anyway, I've never thought about this.

You are welcome, if have any other questions.

  • Color management

I posted a similar message with the title of the color Balance, but because my question is basically the color management - I repost with a new title and an additive - the problem I will quote below IS with the Photosmart B8550 PHOTO printer.  As I just posted, I tried my C6280 Photosmart printing and the colors are much closer to what they should be.

The problem I have is there is too much red in the color balance in my impressions.  The colors in the pictures I see on the screen are NOT the same as the colors in the photos that print.  I tried every setting in the printer (perceptual, saturation, absolute colormatrix, colormatrix relative) rendering - all are bad.  I printed several different photos and the colors are disabled on all.

I've seen posts on the color balance in the Officejet 8500 but the answers do not apply and the Photosmart B8550 PHOTO printer.  There is no funciton copy so I can't use this solution to increase yellow.  I'm using Photoshop CS4.  I put it in place so that Photoshop manages colors, but the output of the printer remains too red.  I checked my ink level and they are all very well (just over 60%.

And, as I said earlier - the colors with the same photos printed on the PS C6280 are much more real they are printing the PS B8550.

    Hi Cbdcs,

A question for you, never have you calibrated your screen? Both printers were offshore, but one was "closer" to be what you saw that you mention.

When you print, make sure you select 'Application manage colors', both in printing from Photoshop, don't forget to select like color Manager.

  • Impossible to apply an ICC profile to display. can not understand instructions for color management

I just upgraded again own computer with Windows7 from my old XP machine.  I have icc profiles for my two monitors.  Under XP, I had nothing wrong with 'apply' or 'associate' or 'use' of these profiles by using the MS color, and both monitors would change appearance when starting a State fully calibrated and profiled.

Now, in Win7, I followed fairly confusing instructions, go to the color management / devices / select one of the screens / click "use my settings for this device" / add a profile box "Profiles associated with this device" using the add"" button.  Then I click on the correct profile in this box and click "Set as default profile".  Nothing happens.  I can put any weird profile as a default, and nothing happens.

I don't even know instructions during the effective application of this profile is supposed to happen, but guess it is when you click on "set as default profile."

"It may be a clue that the color management dialog box fails to identify my poster other than in the form ' generic PnP monitor - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT" while the control panel NVIDIA and Windows 'Screen Resolution' box both manage to identify the poster correctly and use their own name i, e, Eizo L768 and Samsung SyncMaster.

In addition, 'Identify display' in the dialogue box CM works exactly the opposite of how it works in the other two boxes that is Samsung (left) is number 1 in color Mgmt, but number 2 in the control panel Nvidia and Windows 'Screen Resolution' box.

I'm stuck until I can address this issue, so would be very grateful for any help.

    Thank you

Thanks the geek for your help.  No thank you somehow to anyone from Microsoft.  None of this reflects well on Microsoft; No to the current Windows 7 CM interface design, not the fact that after years of complaints and messing around with color management that they could have finally gotten the mechanics in place, but still cannot explain, or make it possible for mortals to use it, and certainly not the fact that they create these monsters and offer no support to any well-founded None.  Not a response to a MS person here, not a good answer to similar questions scattered throughout the Web, no after sales support during any period after the purchase of a new operating system of MS qualified (it's supposed to be provided by the OEM, but of course, none of them knows this kind of thing, how can you keep waiting if Microsoft don't?).  So - NO support.

I can't believe I fell for the hype and purchased a new Windows System.  I swear to you that this is my LAST purchase of windows.  Microsoft, despite the amazing improvements in Win7, still do not understand.

Here's the answer to my problem, thanks to some photographers and no thanks to Microsoft...

1 ASSOCIATE YOUR PROFILES WITH DISPLAY AND SET as a DEFAULT value

To apply an existing ICC profile (ICM file created by any process of calibration), follow these steps.

Control panel / display / change display settings / advanced settings / color management / color (new!)  / Devices / select one of your displays * 1 / click "use my settings for this device" * 2 / if necessary adds profile applicable to the area of "Profiles associated with this device" using the "Add" button (if your profile is not already listed but is available somewhere on the network or the computer) / click on the correct profile in this box and click "set as default profile."

    * 1 the dialog boxes CM do not label your displays just like the other dialog boxes, they seem to lose the manufacturer and the model number information that is available elsewhere, so your display ABC model nn appears as display: 1. Generic PnP monitor .  Also note that at least on my system, display "1" was in fact display '2' in the other dialogs settings display and vice versa.

    * 2 that could think by selecting 'Use my settings for this device' would mean the Windows using your settings for this device (screen), but apparently it isn't.  That means... Well, I don't know what that means.  Perhaps it means that if you do select not her, even the next step (see below) will not help you.

Good work so far - unnecessarily complex - and tortuous, but has a certain logic.  Unfortunately it is not nothing at all, until you train the secret key.  Well it seems that the above should do what you want, you need to do something that is quite obvious and not mentioned at all in the General discussion of the help and apparently not known by the 67 people who have read my question.  In fact, it is listed in the section to help Ms... at the bottom of the "Description of the color management settings" and after a largely incomprehensible mass of things that appear not to be relevant, there is a link that is not listed in the content at the top and almost impossible to see... To enable or disable calibration loading Windows

2 ACTIVATE THE CALIBRATION BY WINDOWS LOADING

Here's the little hidden from the help file...

    1. To enable or disable calibration loading of Windows, you must be logged in with an account of a user with administrator privileges.

    2. Click to open color management.

    3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click change system default values.

    4. Click on the Advanced tab in the color - default system, dialog management, and do one of the following:

      • To allow Windows to load and display calibrations, check the box use Windows display calibration.

      • To prevent Windows from loading screen calibration, clear use Windows display calibration check box.

    5. Click Close in the color management - default settings dialog box of the system.

    6. Click Close in the color management dialog box.

Not only it obscure, it confounds even by the fact that you are in the same dialog twice, but the second time is the reference color - default system management instead of the color management as it was the first two times.   But only on the second time is the required box enabled to allow you to check or do a system wide setting.  Easy to miss.

Experts of either MS doesn't know about it and can not find in the help files or the other, or that they couldn't be bothered to answer my question.  In any case a) I hope this helps someone else, and b) I hope that Mrs. lift their game to support and actually meets the future to frustrated and powerless people that I was.  Thanks Microsoft for losing a day of my life.

  • "Color management" don't keep calibration on reboot

I was recently a pretty annoying problem with the "color management" settings found in the control panel.

The problem is very simple, yet confusing at the same time. Whenever I start my computer, the login look perfect screen, the Blues and the Greens look not at power off. I connect to my computer and everything seems fine until a few seconds after starting, a "switch" how it turns and everything gets a yellow-ish tint. In order to correct this problem I have to load the control panel and access the setting menu "color management" and press Advanced, then click on "calibrate" and then on the 'color standard of exhibition' is launched. This is where the problem becomes very weird because I don't have to go through the dialog boxes to remove the yellow tint. All I have to do the "Stallion of the color of the display" is click Cancel, which means that I won't actually through Pentecost of the calibration. But, low and behold when I press cancel everything seems perfect (just like the login screen).

It is worth noting that I am in the classic windows theme. I am not prepared to change that because blurry transparency is more aggravating than the yellow colors. Also, I have not upgraded to xp and rather stuck with the old windows 2000 if I prefer to keep the old look.

Now, I have installed no other color management, I don't want any other color managers, in fact I didn't know that "managers of colours" not really existed. I thought that all this was done by the monitor commands themselves... but apparently these days, there is always "an app for that."

I am currently running windows 7 Home on an ASUS U47VC (http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/U47VC/). I connect via an HDMI cable on my monitor. I turned off the laptop screen using only the utilities Windows ('screen resolution').

    Things I've tried:
    (1) delete each color profile, that I could find.
    (2) again a "calibrated" profile and set it as default value.
    (3) "coupled my settings" what ever that is supposed to mean.

A possible solution would obviously change the monitor color settings (which means fiddling around with the physical buttons on my monitor) to counterbalance the yellow. However, I can't do this for two reasons:

    (1) I can never get this right. I spent a lot of time trying to get it exactly, but the threshold of my monitors color settings do not work
    (2) I dual boot Linux (where no problem color monitor). So I have to redo all the settings on my screen color whenever I booted to windows. Something that is worse than clicking a few buttons

    To forestall the obvious questions:
    YES I UPDATED MY DRIVERS
    YES I UPDATED TO WINDOWS
    YES, I PRIVALGES ADMIN
    YES I RESTARTED THE COMPUTER

    Thank you in advance!

    I solved the problem!

The solution was to create a new user account. In the new account is no longer the problem. There must be a kind of corruption of setting in the old account.

    Thank you for your help.

  • A LOT of Newbie Questions blackBerry smartphones. (Must be the easy answer!)

Good, please excuse my ignorance... guys xD

I just bought two s BlackBerry Curve 8530 from Sprint. I'm pretty tech savvy, but there are some things about this phone, I can just enter in two or three days I got em:

Deleting photos: Well, then I'm in my media folder, in the images. I selects a photo and press the BlackBerry button and select Delete. Then he said: it is read-only, and when I remove it, the icon is still there. I tried to turn on/off the device, and it's still there. Thought this one myself. I plugged it up to the Desktop Manager and all of a sudden all the photos I had taken appeared. I was also able to delete using the "BlackBerry" button and then "delete". It doesn't give me that read this option.

Saving images: So, for some reason I can't save more photos. I don't know even how I saved the first 12 photos I have taken... but now it won't save any more. What the hell happened? xD I have a 2GB card in my phone... surely these 12 images didn't fill in this card... Thought this one myself. I plugged it up to the Desktop Manager and all of a sudden all the photos I had taken appeared.

Buy ringtones: On my old phone LG, I used to buy ringtones RealTone Jukebox... where they had extracted from songs that I could download for a crazyhigh. Where can I buy the real music ringtones for BlackBerry? What I do myself?

Media moving to my PC?: I went through the music store of Sprint comes with my camera, and two purchased songs. I want to know if I can get these songs out of my BlackBerry smart phone and my PC. Also, if anyone knows what format they are in (if they bought before Sprint music store).

To buy another memory card: Where the best place to buy one of these mini memory cards? One of my friends like, a 24 a concert... and I currently have a 2 gig (who, I should mention, is more fricken memory I have in the computer I do not write about this time xD) how can I find out if the card is compatible with my camera?

WTF @ Redlight?: From time to time (we can always do that, I'm not sure), the little red light at the top of my unit starts to blink even if I do not have a weak battery or not new messages. It first happened lastnight when a friend sent me 3 IMs at once. I had to reboot my device and I think that he is stopped. Earlier, it happened again (I had several new messages) and this time whenever my display is on, the light was red only flashes do not. It can always be like this now, but I'm not sure. My camera is in the other room and I'm too lazy to check xD. Why would he do that? How can I get him to stop?

Turn off the sound of the camera?: My camera makes the shutter of the camera, even when noise silence. Is there a way to stop this?

Auto keyguard: I have EPIC hand-dial to people purse. In my view, it has a keyboard lock button in the dashboard of BlackBerry (that is the correct term for this?) But I want to get to the place where the keyboard auto-lock after a certain period of time. Is this possible? I saw somewhere about pressing the button mute will lock it... who is the top/center of the unit button?

Key blackBerry?: Well, don't laugh, I know that I'm retarded. But, the key to the left of the beach towel... than the devil who called? He got the BlackBerry logo on it... is what he called the BlackBerry button? I know, I know, I'm retarded and could probably flip through the manual to figure it out... but still. I might as well ask now xD

Choose the icons to display on the main screen: When I added an e-mail address, he put an icon on my main desktop, in the row of icons at the bottom of the screen. (where is my background image and all that). Can we choose the icons that we want to display on the main screen? I have really now, my calendar icon that I know that I use. I'd love to move the keyboard lock button here though... is it possible?

Speaker?: How can I get speaker? xD

Theme Studio (software, no associated device): Anyone used this? It is quite easy to use? I am tech savvy, but I don't want to just download a ton of programs on my PC that I won't use xD I'm working on the Desktop Manager and it takes forever. I want to make themes, but I'm curious to know how easy to use this program is... graduate to use design or if it would take a graph xD

Well, then, I think that... Think THAT that's all. I can change this highest position (if we are allowed to edit) to delimit what questions have been answered. I hope someone sees this soon enough, that I don't know how "living" these forums are.

Thanks for looking, and I warned you... they have been the newbie questions! xD

There may be an icon on the home screen of your camera to buy ringtones. Or you can open the browser and go to http://mobile.blackberry.com. There is a link of ringtones that you can click

It is recommended to buy a microSD card to store your multimedia files, if you run out of memory on your device.

Depending on what OS is your BlackBerry tells you what size you can buy a microSD card. You can check under Options | Topic (will appear as v4.xx.xxx). Look at the table on the following link to see what size you can get - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461

On the BlackBerry, go to Options | Media Media Card recommended parameters are:

    Media card support: WE

    Encryption mode: NO

    Mass storage support: WE

Auto enable mass storage Mode when connected: YES

Mass storage mode allows your BlackBerry to act as an extra drive when it is connected to your PC. It will appear as an extra drive letter in Windows Explorer. So you can just drag/release the multimedia files on your memory card

If you select an icon, click the menu button and choose move. You can rearrange the icons. The icons in the top 5 on the list will be those along the boittom when not looking at the full home screen.

Speaker?: How can I get speaker? xD

Can try to hit the key ' $' as a shortcut to activate speaker. During a call, you can click the menu button and choose the speaker phone option in the menu

    Not sure about that sorry.

Well, then, I think that... Think THAT that's all. I can change this highest position (if we are allowed to edit) to delimit what questions have been answered. I hope someone sees this soon enough, that I don't know how "living" these forums are.

Thanks for looking, and I warned you... they have been the newbie questions! xD

  • How to have different color profiles on screens cloned with color management

    Hello

I have calibrated two monitors (in fact, one is a standard monitor and the other is a projector that is connected to my computer) using the third-party program. I'm so done with ICC profiles two different, one for my monitor and the other for my image to the projector.

These two are connected to a card double head (Quadro 4000).

I am able to use my two different color ICC profiles with an extented of office using the color management settings in Win7 without problem. I can't disable them without problem also.

But I can't do it with a clone view (dual display). Even if I am able to select two different profiles for each of them in windows color management settings. Alone can apply for each of them. In fact, when I'm in an office clone, even when I tried to deactivate the profile of each color, nothing changed. Color management doesn't seem to update more as soon as I'm in a clone desktop mode.

Anyone know if there is a way to apply TWO different colors on monitors CLONED profiles? In my case, I can not use extended desktop and I really need to apply the calibration profile two different.

    Thank you very much!

  • Dell U2413/U2713H (or maybe Windows 8) issue of color management

    Hello guys!

I am an excessive user of Photoshop / graphic designer and I just bought Dell U2413 to obtain, in combination with my graphics card Nvidia Quadro K2000, a true wide range/10-bit working environment of color which is very important for what I do. (Nec or Eizo was not an option because I've already spent so much money on other materials and I opted for Dell because I heard it is the best display in this price range - in my country, with taxes, it cost me 566 EUROS).

Previously, I was working on iMac for almost a decade then separate pieces of hardware or Windows operating system was a new (and, I must admit, pretty scary) territory for me. However, after everything has been put in place, I tried to calibrate my monitor for the first time and then I was very unpleasantly surprised! Namely, I have X-Rite i1 Display colorimeter Pro and some optional software for it (ColorEyes display Pro and baslCColor display 5 was much better/appropriate for me because of their L * option for TRC so I never used it original i 1 Profiler is a software which is a LOT less than the previous two compering), but because Dell in it's manual said to use a calibration color UltraSharp Solution software is exclusively I decided to give it a go and try with it. But, to my (as I already said, very unpleasant!) surprise, I was EVEN less of i1 Profiler which, as I have said, was never an option for me.

Not the end of the world, I thought, I'll re - calibrate it with ColorEyes Display Pro and everything goes well. But, after doing so, my unpleasant surprise become even more unpleasant, when I discovered that no matter what profile I chose in Windows Color Management and press "Set as default", nothing happens - my screen remains the same! The only way I can get a color change is if I create a profile using Windows built in utility. Profiles created in this way change the appearance of the screen, but all the profiles downloaded or created make no difference. And now I literally don't know what to do... The worst thing only of this, I can't blame WHO:

    1 Dell - that has a 'high end' view gives you ONLY a few factory presets + 2 custom profiles (Cal1 and Cal2) made by software calibration nowdays more inferior and useless;
    2. Windows 8 - who did a terrible color management which, in the same way, not a color at all management;
    3. me - who is unable to see put in place something that is more than simple & obvious?

THANKS in ADVANCE for everyone is willing to help me solve this question and forgive me for a long (and perhaps confusing-) as you can say English is not my language kindergarten post!

First of all if you use the eyes color pro with GBLED and i1DisplayPro and you're not invited to a sort of spectral correction for your type of backlight screen, you're hurting. No matter how visually pleasant it is, the profile is not accurate, playing WYSIWYB (what you see is what you believe) not WYSIWYG.
Second, unless you have purchased/updated Basiccolor Display 5 after may 2013 (NEC GB LED suppor for PA242W, 5.1.2 version) with GBLED and i1DisplayPro, its measures are wrong, no matter how nice of calibration is.

    With your questions:
    You have 6 presets:
-CAL1/CAL2, please read questions configuration on the Dell color calibration Solution in this instance. Please install the latest version 1.0.1.0 (67MB) and disable all color adjustments in yor GPU nvidia (bright colors, digital vibrance... all OFF). Most of us use in Windows 7 without problem (after a few configuration settings: spectal correction for GBLED files)

    etc.
-Factory-sRGB/AdobeRGB which are probably with a white point off the coast of the D65, recalibrate in GPU LUT with ArgyllCMS/DisplayCal. Works very well.
-Standard with a usually arround WP 7000 K (native GBLED WP), if calibrated in GPU LUT with ArgyllCMS/DisplayCal ' nearest the locus of the daylight "of your native WP should give about your contrast of 1000: 1. It is perhaps unnecessary to your workflow, but it is better to know it.
-Custom, native, fully customizable range WhitePoint, blackpopint and luminance of D50 D70 and beyond.
Work with color management applications just you Custom, CAL1 and CAL2.

You may have a problem with Windows (from Windows Vista from) color management. By default, Windows does not allow profiles (but applications can) rewriting GPU LUT of calibration. You need to configure.
    In W8, it's done:
-From the right panel-> Search-> color management
-Go to the tab advanced options
-Click on "change default settings...". ', the button down with administrator privileges.
-Go to the tab advanced options in this new window
-Toogle check buton (bottom) "windows use on screen calibration" (sorry I don't have an English version of Windows and I don't know the exact text)
    -Reload button calibrations (bottom)
    -Close
-Go to the "Devices" tab and select your screen in the upper drop-down list
-check the box "use my record for this device".
    -Select your profile

Your screen SHOULD be the same printer Dell preset OSD in which this profile was created, without other changes in contrast or brightness.
If enabled, please disable the "AUTO" mode in the Dell Display Manager tray icon, use the manual mode with "enhanced video" (last tab) OFF.

BTW and I know that this is not your case, but without workflow 10bits or gamma in 3DLUT (NECs & eizos) L * gamma calibration is not necessary.

For those who have worn with 8-bit or DA better sRGB gamma CRT and let Photoshop or GIMP color management to make corrections for images ECIv2 (or with similar profiles of gamma)

  • Color Management Confusion - Canon PRO 1000 printer

Users of Photoshop CC out there working with PRO-1000 printer from Canon?

Obviously, I should have a handle on my colors, but despite the download management workflow and by applying the right profiles of icc for the documents, have a calibrated EIZO monitor, the colors are downright bad and inconsistent at best.

    The dilemma:

In my printer set up, I have a color management options) let the printer manage colors, or b) let Photoshop manage colors.

The big problem I have with the PS, it is that if I let Photoshop manage colors (what I want), I get a warning that says "Please use Adobe Color Printer Utility If you need to print with no color management.

    printer setup.jpg

There are already 2 problems with this:

    1. I DON'T want to print with color management

    2. the utility of Adobe Color printer not only is not manage the colors, it is apparently not yet supported by Photoshop CC, that was told to me through some Adobe support chat. The utility itself seems pretty useless.

The question becomes HOW am I supposed TO MANAGE COLOR using the CANON PRO 1000 with ADOBE CC?

With an exhibition that I'm supposed to be set up in less than a week and no Adobe or Canon support site, I passed the point of despair and entry in full-on panic. Someone please help! Thank you.

In fact, there is no much to experiment. If Canon profiles are good, and there is no reason to think that they are not, there is only one way to do it:

    • The document in a standard color space
    • Photoshop manages color (if ensure that color management turned off the coast in the printer driver, you don't want the color management double)
    • Choose the right profile for your paper in the PS print dialog box
    • Also choose the type of media in the printer driver to set the total amount of ink

The printer driver is that you get to when you click on 'Properties' in the dialog box print in Photoshop.

There's a review here, separated what corresponds to your objectives of calibration of monitor the density of white ink and paper max (this is to monitor the white and black points). If you get prints that are too dark, your screen is too bright. Not the other way around.

  • Color management against older versions

I recently started a new job that made me a simple design work and printing these flyers on a Xerox Workcentre 7225. However, in printing, this work became not so simple. I printed a series of pamphlets and the colors are coming very saturated for two colors in vector shapes and pictures, especially compared to the files of the person who has the habit of doing that. She uses InDesign CS3 and I use Illustrator CC 2015 in Windows 10.

I have calibrated the printer, always the same question. I printed one of old PDF its compared to a copy laying around and it fits, so the question is somewhere in my Adobe settings.

    • I checked color profiles in Acrobat preview output and both are like us Web Coated SWOP v2.

    • I tried to recreate the document that I did in Illustrator in InDesign for the images to keep the RGB information

    • I tried to use spot colors in RGB in a CMYK document as the previous person had (who would not explain the variation in the photos)

    • I brought the old PDF and my new PDF in Photoshop for a test and control values of color matching spot

    • I printed the old Photoshop rather than Acrobat PDF and it has more printed sample I had any until I started or that I had printed earlier the same day from Acrobat using the old PDF

    • I changed all the settings in my export PDF, file settings, nowhere elsewhere I could think

Nothing works and I'm starting to get frustrated. I worked prepress for awhile so I thought I had a good handle on color management, but what makes me feel that the answer is with myself.

Anyone have any ideas? I have a PDF file, I can provide if necessary. Thanks in advance for any advice.

For anyone who has the same problem in the future... I thought about it. Postscript driver technology that the new computer network never installed.

  • Folder "Global colors without a name" of Pantone Color Manager ASE

    Hi all

I'm not sure if this - or something similar - has been answered before, but I couldn't find any suitable thread/message /...

All first of all system information:

OSX imac running 10.8.x and macbook OSX 10.9.1 running

    * Illustrator CC

    * Pantone Color Manager

I try to use the Pantone Fashion and home / color paper library provided by Pantone color Manager, clean for the use of the radiant missawi 18-3224 TPX (color of 2014). I saved the library named in a *.ase file and opened it in artificial intelligence. The number of colors, I guess, that all colors are imported, but I can't find the 18-3224. BUT there are a lot of 'no name Global Colors"with some of them who could be in question. Using 'pantone.ase xxd' in the terminal I can find at least the name "radiant 18-3224 TPX Orchid", which means, it is saved in the given file. Does anyone have an idea where start or - even better - how to solve this problem?

    Looking forward to any suggestions,

    Stephan

    Dear Scott:

Your copy of PANTONE Color Manager is seriously out of date, because this problem has been fixed for a long time.

To correct this, you will need to register at myPANTONE if you have not already done so - it is a free registration and will allow access to the PANTONE Color Manager update installer.  If you need to register you can do it first at https://www.pantone.com/pages/MYP_myPantone/mypMemberProfile.aspx.

So here are the steps needed to correct this problem:

    1. delete all exported PANTONE FASHION + libraries HOUSE of all Adobe applications.

    2. log into your myPANTONE account and go to tools/downloaded software.

    3. download the PANTONE Color Manager for Mac or Windows Installer as appropriate.  It is the first product on the software downloads page.

    4. run the installer of PANTONE Color Manager directly on your current installation, which will update to version 2.1.

    5. the re-export the PANTONE FASHION + HOME of PANTONE Color Manager libraries for your Adobe products.  All exported PANTONE FASHION + HOME colors will now properly appear in Adobe Illustrator.

Please note: when you start the PANTONE Color Manager Update, you will be asked to perform a "PantoneLIVE" update on the cotton F & H PANTONE library.  This update will remove the cotton F & H PANTONE and PANTONE F & H cotton - libraries of new colors and replace them with a single cotton F & H PANTONE library with all the colors of 2,100 in chromatic arrangement.
