• Email from a friend appears in windows mail and then immediately disappears. I'm showing all files in all folders and do not find the message. I use Norton security.

  Norton and any program Windows Mail have major conflicts.  So it could be due to Norton, or it could be because of the message is marked as read and you have set it to hide read messages.  So make sure that you have configured in sight. Current view | Show all messages.

  Hello, I'm trying to create a script that returns the details data Configuration/Storage/Datastore/store info. The thing I want the script to do is list my ESX:s, data of list store names, list mpathpolicy and the details of the data store paths section in the VI client.

• Why each Storage device I plug my usb slot shows all files as shortcuts? Help, please!

  I am foreigner working abroad. A co worker lent me his portable external hard drive, as soon as I connected it to my laptop to access ALL the files were in the shortcuts. I thought oh OK, this is how he has her but, when I went to reach my own HHD is also in the same format (all THE shortcuts) now each storage device I plug into my laptop computer does the same thing. I know it is a form of virus, but I do not know how to fight. Some people have suggested Kapersky and various other anti virus programs. I don't want to lose ALL my data either which I said anti virus programs. Any advice would be extermely useful.

  I have a 250 GB HARD drive on my laptop - Toshiba Satellite A300 1 5. When I click on properties on my C partition, I used 16 GB but when I select all the files in the C:\ shows me that I used 8GB. Where is the rest?

• newbie question on audio file that plays while the attached object is always visible

  I know how to link a sound file to an object, but is it possible to have the audio file set when the object is always visible (but not continuous, as an embedded sound file)? The object in question is the partitions and the sound file is the recording of the music, so you can see why I would want to see the old and hear the latter at the same time.

  . TIF isn't a standard web image file type.  TIF is mainly used in print media.   Open an image in your favourite graphic application (Photoshop or Fireworks).  Save for Web as optimized JPEG, GIF or PNG in your Local Site of DW folder.

  In addition, AIFF will be a problem because not all users have a Media Player installed on their machine that can handle this type of file.  On the web, you will reach a wider audience with a built-in MP3 player and MP3 audio files.  I highly recommend the Reader Pickle - play button.

• My Start Menu shows all files, when I click on the button "all folders".

  I was recently clean my laptop from programs & I no longer use records & uninstall unused programs. One day, while removing some unnecessary files in the Start Menu, the menu suddenly got rid of all items & records, even the Accessories folder. I tried a system restore to go back & fix the problem, but Windows will not end the function, it says cannot change the files/folders.
  My main focus now on what I can't find one of my regular maintenance programs or other programs, such as calculator, which I use daily. Is it possible to restore these files, or possibly be able to find & manually add of these return programmes?

  Check the Recycle Bin to see if the folders are there - then you can add them to C:\Users\\Start Menu.  Another option is to add in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu for C:\Users\\Start Menu and who should fill up your Start menu.  If the Start Menu folder is already filled, then see the next paragraph.  But I think this process works in your situation and I would give it a try.  C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu is empty if you really have a problem (I don't know how you would have deleted this file in the start - menu which should not be possible) and you will have to do it manually as described in paragraph 3 below.

  If the records are not in the trash, try to connect as a different user and see if you can get a start menu.  If you can, treat this situation as a corrupt user profile.  To fix this use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile.  If that is the only available Administrator Profile and you can't use it to do this (you need to be an administrator to fix this), enable the Hidden Administrator Account (HAA) using http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords&p=1&tid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055&mid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055.  If you don't remember the password, try nothing because that's probably what you (or seller) did during the installation.  Once that is done, don't forget to disable the HAA to save it in case it is necessary once again and for safety reasons (since people often try to hack into systems using this account).  Do NOT use the HAA as your administrator account because if you lose the only administrator on the system account or it is damaged again, then you're watered.

  Of course, you can always add them manually to C:\Users\\Start Menu by searching the executable files for the programs that you want in the start menu (it is true that a daunting task as they could be almost anywhere, and it is difficult to remember all of the programs that you have installed).  Unfortunately, if you deleted the main folder of the Menu start then there is really no choice other than a facility repair/upgrade of the system (which can give you the icons associated with Windows, but probably not the ones you have installed).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. • Two types of newbie questions if all goes well

  I have a simple movie that I import into Flash as a .flv.

  I have a text that appears on a layer above it.

  When I publish the .swf shows the fine text.  But when I try to see through the .html page, the text does not appear.  Any idea what is going on there?  Of course, we do with HTML code, Flash generates when it publishes, but I know not enough etc. of Javascript to decode.

  UPDATE: if I put the text in box 1 and put it a keyframe empty in frame 7, the text continues to stay there for the duration of the film.  But only when I play the published html file.  Not when I play the SWF directly.  ???  What on Earth is happening there?

  It would seem that your file is stopped at frame 1 when you play in a browser.  Make sure that when you publish that you have nothing to say the file to be stopped.  The video is planted in the timeline?  If so, the way it will not be a problem since it is in the file.

  Quite honestly, the easiest would be to jump using any program to do and simply copy the files directly.

  Open the C:\Users folder, and you will see a folder for each person.  Copy and paste these folders to the separate USB that you need to copy all their files there and you're done, safe and simple.

• Since worm 36 and perhaps earlier, I have bookmarks under the stars, but not when I ask to show all bookmarks

• Finder shows do not all files after upgrade to El Capitan

  I've recently upgraded the OS on my iMac to Snow Leopard to El Capitan version 10.11.4.

  Since the upgrade Finder shows all records.

  I used to have a folder called 'Music', containing a large number of MP3 and WMA files, I had transferred my collection of CD so I could listen to them on my Sonos system. These files are still there, I can see them in "My files", but the record they were in shows no more, so the Sonos software cannot find them.

  Finder displays 'Favorites', but not records such as users (understand me and the under 'Music' folder) no longer appear.

  If I right click on a music file and select 'get info', I see that the old structure of the file is still there, but the Finder does not systematically.

• Windows Media Center does not display my photos. I tried to re-setup my album and it shows my files but no pictures in them. I can see my photos in all viewers

  all my photos are in JPEG format, I download my photos on several websites and on my Windows live.com page, I also see with Windows Live Photo Gallery, I use Adobe Photoshop 7 to edit and save my pictures in .jpeg format, I can visualize in Picasa, PhotoStudio, ZoomBrowers EX etc.. I can spend my photos to one of my other computers and my pictures by e-mail, and they can be consulted. I open one of my photos in Photoshop and saved in a folder on my desktop in .jpeg and .bmp and it does not display. I sort my folder in date and make sure that hidden files is checked. I know I'm missing something, but still nothing.

  All files compatible photo in your library in Windows will appear in Media Center, including whatever it is stored in the folder my pictures or public photo. If you store images somewhere else, like an external hard drive, you can add them to the Media Center as well. To learn how, see Add files to media in Windows Media Center.

  The following is a list of reasons why an image will not display in Media Center, as well as suggestions for correcting the problem.

  • The picture file type is not supported in Media Center. For example, some digital camera photos are saved in the RAW file format, which is not supported in Media Center. If you have a photo editing software, try to open the picture in that program, and then resaving in a file type that is supported (for example, JPEG). To see what types of files are supported in Media Center, see file types supported by Windows Media Center.

  • The file is corrupted. If this is the case, try to open the image in another photo editing program, and then save it back into a different file type. For more information on the damaged files, see the files corrupted: frequently asked questions.
