  You understand the reasoning behind the creation OS files (or directories)? They are used to group logically related files. The advantage to this is so much easier (you can move the entire folder and its entire contents from one place to another) management and administration. It's the same is the concept of the tablespace. Tablespaces group files in them which are supposed to contain logically related content. For example, a tablespace named that HR is supposed to contain tables that hold the data related to employees.

  That said, it is very well explained in the documentation online as well.

  Q1. An Undo Tablespace is required in a database? I thought that only agents were SYSTEM and SYSAUX of TEMP?

  I did not notice that it is not mentioned in the documentation, or at least I couldn't find if its somewhere. But when 9i has been released, I'm sure that stated explicitly that the number of segments that would be created is 10.

  However, what determines exactly how much is created in the first place? In my case, my database has 61 segments!

  But are you sure that 61 segments belong to a single undo tablespace? My best guess is that you have several Undo tablespace created and the number of segments is of each of them. Can you check and confirm please?

  I understand that the parameter UNDO_RETENTION will determin when these segments can be replaced, but I am trying to get my head round how my database has finished with 61 undo segments and will be he never ever get rid of the any of these segments? (i.e. is it just continue to add but never remove all know is that as a concept of the high water line?)

  Not to my knowledge at least. I know that the number of segments can be less than the number 10, but more which would be created at any time and that too in such a number of top, no, did not meet any reference that has never mentioned it.

  LSO a number of segments are offline - why should it be?

  Yet once, which just goes to confirm my doubt that these segments are displayed including tablespaces offline are not defined by default for your database. A tablespace can be set to the default db only its segments, and it would have also shown online. Again, check parameter undo_tablespace and see dba_rollback_segs as if the segments that are shown as online, belong only this tablespace or more.

• Newbi question which is more annoying to understand...

  Hi, the only experience I had using Premier Pro was in college to export videos, so I don't know what I'm doing here.

  All I want to do is to bring in a bunch of images and do run all together for awhile.

  I have 600 exported from Maya JPG images and I've done first to export as a video, but when I put them in, each image is too long. Select all images and the right click and bring up to 1 so it works essentially 0.1ms per image (or so I thought it would do), past the speed/duration of course did not work. Each frame there is take this amount of time, but with big gapes between each picture. I looked in the way to remove this and came to the ripple delete. It works only 1 at the right time, and by selecting all and right click and delete the ripple near the top of the menu only at random deletions framework never leaving me with nothing? This seems like a simple thing to do, but it is difficult to understand.

  I also tried to change the fps during the start of the project of 25 fps to something higher, but it woudn't let me.

  Please help, it would be greatly appreciated!

  Go to Preferences > general... and set the default duration of still images to 1 frame.  Then import your images and add them to the sequence.

• PS6 Newbie, 4 things I could not understand how...

  1. How do take you a shape to the center of the document? Is there a way to do this than just to the eye?
  2. How do you cancel something there is more than a single click? seems to only let me do it once - (this is not the case in the elements )

  I could help with a couple of your questions...

  1. as far as I know there is no component feature snap in PS to align something in the center of a document, it is what I do. First make sure that your leaders are under tension, then click and drag it on the ruler to drag a vertical guide. There will be some what wink when he gets to the center of the document. Then do the same for the horazontal guide. After you have the guides you can hit command T on a Mac on a PC command T to find the center of your object and place it in the center of your guides.

  2 cancel or command Z will cancel only one step, but the PS has what is called a "historic" window Go to window > history if you don't already. Then you can save as many steps as you wish. The default number of steps set up for history to remember is 20, I think, but you can go the prefrences a together it too high you want up to 200 I beleve. Beware this can slow the PS or what they say. I have my put PS in place to retain the 100.

  3. as far as I know that there is no search feature in the layers panel. I've never really thought about it, but this might be an improvement of the program if they considered doing. And I'm not also beleve it is absent to enlarge the thumbnails, but I'm not 100% on what I'm not in front of the PS now.

  4. Once you merge layers is final there is no unmerge. You may not return in your story as I've mentioned before.

I have a question that I do not understand why the "articles_rdf_data" table is not under the created tablespace "rdf_tblspace", but in the default tablespace "SYSAUX? I created a table space named articles_rdf_data and a network of semantic data using this tablespace. After I created the table "articles_rdf_data" and a semantic model 'items' which uses the created tablespace, and then I logged in the OEM to check it out, I found that this table uses the default tablespace "SYSAUX" rather than created tablespace which I thought that it should use.   When you created your table in the application "articles_rdf_data" have you set the tablespace?
  for example

• Deletion of a tablespace

  I am a total newbie so forgive the questions.
  
  I have a development system that I need to drop a tablespace on. It runs Oracle 10 g and the tablespace contains a data file. We need more this tablespace and it takes a lot of space, so we were eager to get rid of him. We have removed all of the tables, etc. of the storage space, but it is still great as if the stuff was still in it.
  
  It has an option to remove storage within the em, but I read online that it is not always delete the OS even if you select this option. So I thought I would run the command drop itself.
  
  So far, I found that I should be able to run the following
  
  DROP TABLESPACE WHATEVERITSNAMEIS INCLUDING CONTENT AND DATA FILES;
  
  It is my understanding that this will get rid of the storage space, whatever it is always in it and the data file associated with the space of storage (including the OS file).
  
  Does this sound correct?
  
  
  Also, the documentation suggests I a full backup before I make the drop. We did a hot incremental backup last night at 04:00. Which is good enough, or do I have to do another? And if so, is it ok to just make another backup (incremental) hot or do I need to do differently and if so, what type of backup (be specific I'm pretty new).

  You should be ok, if you deleted all the content of the tables already. Anayway you have taken a backup already, what you should have done made a backup of the storage space before you delete the tables, but still if you don't need them then you should be ok.

  Greetings

  After nearly 40 years, using Windows, I ordered an iMac 27 "(renovated)."  I had an Apple II at the end of the 1970s beginning in the 1980s and had an iPhone 4 and still have an iPad 2, but my office has always been a windows box.  So I'm really a newbie on the Mac.  My main job is as an image maker and photographer, using Adobe products. I am become familiar with the software and the new terms and had a few questions.

  My Windows workstation had 4 screens and would like to have 3 screens, on the iMac.  I understand the port Thunderbolt is what I would use, but don't know if I should get some sort of converter hub and put a Thunderbolt port or run each monitor on its own Port. I don't know, what other material may be used on the stroke, if you want advice from other users.  Even if my PC monitors are near the resolution of the iMac, and most of my image work will be done on the main screen, other screens will be used for e-mail, research on the web and others.

  I also use a mouse from the ball on my PC (usb) and I was wondering if it will work on the material of the iMac.  I have a little of magic, as seems to be quite an easy and intuitive interface.

  In any case, I'm sure it's frustrating for users of long-time Mac products to meet a beginner, but advice, links or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  You can use any external screen mini display port. Plug the cable from port mini display on the Thunderbolt on Mac ports, and then you're in business. Connection of external monitors an iMac is extremely simple to do. Apple explains in OS x: how to use several displays with your Mac in Lion mountain and even before - Apple Support. Although this letter of advice is a bit outdated, it should still work properly with your new iMac.

• do not understand the tag edition - someone explain please

  I have been advised to get the titles in order by editing tags, but cannot understand what it means.  I installed MP3Tag and navigated to the folder with my podcasts in it, then clicked on 'Select folder'.  The 'tag' says the same thing for the whole column, and I do nothing make changes except 'remove tag '.  I can't understand the instructions - they assume that I know already a little on the tags.  What should I do so that the files in this folder will be displayed in alphabetical/numerical order on my Clip instead randomly?

  If you ever have a newbie with this problem, tell him to check properties\details\ #.  I never assign numbers track to my podcasts, and various had 0 or 1, give me a random order when I copied them on my Clip.  I feel stupid, but it's good to have learned this.  Thanks for mentioning the order of songs.

  Storage spaces are a subset of the ASM starts they are created in.

  Segments in storage are a subset of the Tablespaces.

  You might have a DG ASM to 100 GB with a 32 GB that has Tables and the indexes Tablespace that adds up to 10 GB.

  Looking to 68 or 22 GB as free space?  The 68 GB means that the tablespace can * growth * by an another 68 GB by adding new data files or the extension of existing data files.

  The 22GB guess never add new data files or expand existing data files (resize).

  68GB becomes more complicated when you have Normal or high redundancy and several FailureGroups of the DG of the DSO.

• Defragmentation of the tablespaces?

  DB version: 11.2.0.4

  Platform: Oracle Linux 6.5

  3-node RAC DB

  We have a TB 23 DB, and we met some performance issues lately. Sound mainly due to poorly written queries, large volume of data in the result set,... etc. But, this application was asked at a meeting if I could check that storage space (not tables) are fragmented. Apparently, in his old store DBA there did some 'Defragmenting' of tablespaces for the same application solve some performance problems.

  To resize the data files, move to another tablespace DB objects so that the HWM in a particular data file is reset and then we could run the RESIZE command. But this isn't "defragmentation".

  In the thread below, Justin cave explains that "a managed tablespace locally cannot effectively be fragmented."

  That Justin is meant by that? Why have we not need "defragmentation" to locally managed Tablespaces?

  Since I worked on 11g, I don't know the history. Done, DBA do a sort of defragmentation for older versions?

  In general, you don't need to defragment of LMT because they re - operate segments more effectively.  That assumes a particular definition of the fragmentation that don't understand what some people call "Gruyère" fragmentation, which means free space holes, spread across the tablespace.  Sometimes it is wise to reclaim this space, generally do not, since generally the trend is to use space.

  Many more details are in the link given Aman, but there are a few somewhat obscure situations where you would not automatically exclude the defragmentation:

  A tablespace that has been migrated from DMT could have a few deferred maintenance on the lookout for defragmentation.

  You might still have DMTs.  You shouldn't, but there is nothing no longer this deferred maintenance upgrades of version (I do not forget something hope).

  Some applications do stupid things like add and remove tables and if done in a strange order (as drop any other individual and adding more), can travel on limits of segment requirements (as Jonathan explains in some links on the moving objects until the beginning of storage spaces).

  It is also possible to be unlucky and have performance issues based on the distribution of physical data get worse by moving data autour.

  In general, Oracle did some good things, but be prepared to do an investigation of mind, when it is not.  It allows to be confident and knowledgeable on the bases then.  For the 'fragmentation' in particular, a Manager may well have been seduced by myths or the specific practices that don't apply generally. "Best practices" may suffer, too.

• Newbie: control the automatic progression

  I'm new to Captivate 9 and I'm trying to come to terms with the reading head automatically progresses.

  The course that I build a custom navigation and therefore I hid the standard playback bar.

  I need to progress to the next slide occurs only when the user clicks on my next button (which becomes active at the end of the slide).

  I have install interaction when the user is required to select / click 4 items on the slide after which progresses the playhead at the end of the cursor. I have advanced configuration action that causes the playhead to continue after the 4 elements have been selected.

  It seems to work until such time as the user interacts with another element on the slide, and then the playhead progresses to the next slide. Use any standard action that I specifically don't let the slide to progress.

  So I have 2 questions. First of all, how can I monitor progress of playhead constantly? Secondly, where are the pieces of online tutorial for the user to get a better understanding of captivate 9?

  One of the main features of Captivate you have to do enter with is the timeline, which is (very sad decision) hidden in the Newbie UI. I write an article once on the timeline, but should be updated because delays in effects are not integrated in the main timeline.   I'm sorry I can't direct you to a most recent tutorial, because until now I never found this well explained in any book or training calendar. When I supervise a training I always spend at least half a day trying to explain the chronology and the way in which it allows interactions.

  It would be better if you posted a screenshot of the chronology of this slide. Here's some advice for your use case:

  • I'd do the next invisible button until all elements are clicked. This means a tip two-decision action conditional to trigger the event of success of 'clickable' things (I don't know if you are using a form button, a normal button or click box). The workflow has been postponed several times here, but I don't mind to repeat once if you wish.
  • Remember that all clickable objects take a break right now. You can check that in the timeline panel (look for the hanging next to the thin vertical line that is the break itself) or in the synchronization properties.

  If you have an advanced action or shared, triggered by clickable objects, you don't have to worry about the playhead progresses automatically. Now you have the chance to start with CP9: for action 'simple' (from the drop-down list in the Actions tab) is not the case, you will need to uncheck the option "continue playing project." In previous versions, this option was not available and you need to replace the simple action by a standard action to avoid the progression of the PlayBar. Take a look on:
