No access access/Limited - no access Internet (Windows 7)

Hello

I was lucky enough to win a laptop in a competition and I'm having a problem connecting to the internet.

All I ever get is a limited access (which is basicallly no access) and need help.

If I enter the comnad prompt and type ipconfig I get

  • Autoconfiguration IPv4 address: 169.254.152.230
  • subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

I know that the addess ip of my router is 192.168.1.1, then I tried to set it as a default gateway but it makes no difference.

I have three cards. Connection mobile broadband (Qualcomm Gobi 2000), Wi - Fi Connection Netwrok (Atheros AR9285) & 2 wireless network connection (Microsoft Virtual Wifi). Of the three on the Atheros seems to try to connect (it shows an excellent signal strength) so I have that he has updated the driver and it does.

I don't know what else I can try. Can anyone suggest anything?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Hello

There is something that is blocking the connection to the router.

Please follow this process.

There is an inherent Catch22 to attempt to repair a computer wireless through wireless. Given that the without wire is not connected to the source, there is no interaction between the wireless source and the Wireless Client and no frame of reference to find what works and what does not.

As a first step, I will temporarily move the computer to a place close to the wireless router and plug with a wire.

When he works with a wire, switch Off the Wireless Security in the router, disconnect the wire and try to make wireless work. This must be done when the computer is always close to the wireless router to compensate for the weak, and or blocked the signal that could be part of the problem in the new suite spot work.

In the computer itself.

Most laptops have a physical switch for the wireless card. Read the manual of the computer and make sure that the wireless adapter is on.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Above everything is OK and it connects to the wireless router. Log in from any computer which is, or can be connected to the router with a wire wireless, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless streaming is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

When the work turns on the Wireless security.

Note * people sometimes make mistakes in writing and retype the password for security.

Another way is to copy in the menu of the router and then paste it when asked of the wireless card.

    Hello

My name is Tommy and I need help. My desktop computer shows that it is connected to the internet, but when I try to use any application that requires the internet (IE, firefox, chrome, League of legends, etc..) I get a 'connection error' / Web page isn't reachable. Internet works on my parents and my sisters computer, so I don't think it's a problem with the router (even if they're using wifi). My firewall will not turn on either. I tried a reset winsock, but to no avail.  I ran a few antivirus scans and eventually find a sitting trojan.muldrop in my System Volume Information folder, and I deleted it with by Dr.Web CureIt. After the removal of the virus, my computer will still not access the internet, and I can't turn on my firewall. Please help if possible!
    Thank you!

  • Windows vista local access only or limited to the Internet

I have windows vista on a dell insipirion laptop, purchased in January 2009

It came with mcafee anti virus already installed, that I removed after the test free and replaced with norton 360

for about 2 months, I had problems with connecting to and browsing the internet

the icon at the far right of the taskbar displays access: Local only

    Local IPv4 connectivity
    IPv6 limited connectivity

If I click Properties, click the Networking tab

    Hello Gemzy,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft answers forum for windows vista.

There are several things that we can try to solve this problem.

Let's start by disabling all other connections to try to force the wireless connection to request the information needed in the router.  So go to start > Control Panel > network and sharing Center > manage network connections.  Click on each link listed EXCEPT the wireless LAN connection, then click on disable this network device.  Then see if your wire will connect.  You may run the diagnostic and repair utility on the Network and Sharing Center menu to force the wireless card to request information from the router IP.

If all else fails, go back into the network and sharing Center, manage network connections and right click on the wireless network connection and select Properties.  Then click Internet version 4 Protocol and select Properties.  Click in the box that says "Use following IP address" and enter the information that has been shown in IPCONFIG report for your connection to the Wired Local network above.  Do the same for "use the following DNS servers."  Make sure that you type the IP address, mask subnet, default gateway, and DNS addresses exactly the same than the connection to the Local network was when he got the information from the router.

One of the solutions proposed in this thread is to reset the Windows TCP/IP stack. In another thread on this reset, several users have posted their newspapers which doubled indicating "access denied" you probably need to run cmd.exe as administrator to overcome that if this happens to you:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Insider/Forum/insider_wintp-insider_web/Windows-10-TP-cant-connect-to-Internet-through/97e1885e-790b-4D4F-92d4-6b1d97e8c85c

There are many articles on this for older versions of Windows, but it is not so well documented for Windows 10 again. Here are a few articles for reference:

  • After the Windows 8.1 update, can not access Internet in Firefox or Chrome, but IE 11 OK.

After the Windows 8.1 update, can not access Internet in Firefox or Chrome, but IE 11 OK.
I reinstalled the latest firefox, still cannot access Internet from Firefox.
    Microsoft is ridiculous?

    1. Run cmd.exe as administrator
    2. Type "netsh winsock reset" and then press enter
    3. Restart the PC
  • Unable to access Internet Explorer 9 using Windows Vista, Service Pack 2

I use Vista, Internet 9, desktop pc, cannot connect to Internet Explorer, get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."  I click on diagnose connection problems and he says: "Windows cannot find any problems with the network connection on this computer."  Using Netgear and router.  All the lights are on, all connections are secure.  Two of them have reset several times that I care to mention.  I access internet using my wireless laptop or directly related.  Lower right of the screen on the task bar, it shows double computer and Internet Explorer icons.  When I click it, it brings up the network and sharing, and it shows the lines between desktop computer, network 2 (home network) and the Internet. But I can not connect to internet at all of this office.  I could, until what I deleted temporary files, run MS Security Essentials, then defraged.  Help, please!  I am in desperate need!  :-(

    Thank you

    Hello

    Method 1:
Use the Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode, and check if it helps:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Internet-Explorer-Add-ons-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2:
I also suggest you to consult the Knowledge Base article and check if it helps:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/956196

    Method 3:
Check if you are able to ping Web sites. You can try the following steps:
    a. click on the Windows "Start" button, then select the 'Run' utility in the start menu.

    b. Enter the following command in the field 'Open', then click 'OK ':
    cmd

Command prompt opens in a separate window.

    c. Type "ping" followed by the URL of the Web site, you are trying to ping. You must leave a space between the 'ping' and the URL.

For example, ping Yahoo.com, enter the following command:

    Ping www.yahoo.com

    d. apply the command by pressing the key "Enter" on the keyboard. You should see the information on statistics for the address ping IP is entered, including the number of packets sent, received or lost.

If there is no packet lost, your Internet connection is working normally. However, if there are packages that are lost, you may have a problem with your Internet connection.

  • Cannot access Internet on Windows Update

I recently formatted my computer windows laptop. I'm using Windows 7 Home Basic Edition. After a day or two, I am unable to access the internet even if I am connected to the router. I even tried to access Internet through my cell phone using a hotspot. It too its display "NO Internet access. There is no problem with the router or my cell like everybody else uses it and its works very well. So I tried to system restore to a point where I knew I was able to use the Internet. And here it does not work... But even once after the windows update it stopped working. Again, I must use the system restore to make it work.

I can't find the source of this problem? Because of the windows update or something else?

The KB2705219 update could be the cause and uninstall that solved the problem for some users.

To uninstall an update - control panel, programs & features, [left side of the window] see installed updates. Wait until the system has finished the research for the list of updates. Select update required, then right click and Uninstall.

    But...

In another thread [my computer today installed windows 7 updates, but my internet has been lost.] But the network is visible. [what caused this?] a user has identified this notice - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

While it remains that uninstall the Win7 update than kb2705219 solved the problem for at least two users, you should consider the McAfee fix. At least two users had also reported having removed then reinstalled McAfee earlier in the day and their systems have increased back & run correctly afterwards.

I had to run the MCPRT deletion a few times before and it caused a problem with the license if the PC was not connected to the internet during the abduction. Due cat of McAfee support reset their files in order to allow the relocation-reactivation. Here is their link cat - McAfee - media contains the link to the cat

    Hi all

XP sp3 sometime, I can access of windows 7 (64-bit) professional sharing some time cannot be accessed, even I can't enter network, windows 7 to windows 7 is ok, no any problem can still access. What should be is the problem?  Total 15 pc accesses this share all windows 7 except a Xp machine, is that occur only a few times, this time I make restart the pc (Win 7) then xp machine can access.

    Hello

    ·         Do you have an error message when you browse to Windows 7 from Windows xp?

    ·         Is that what happens on all windows machines 7 or a particular machine?

I suggest temporarily disabling software antivirus (and any other security software) and firewall on the Windows 7 computer as a test and check if this solves the problem. Follow the steps in the link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

If disabling the antivirus software solves the problem, you may need to configure the settings of the antivirus as a result program.

Note: make sure that you enable the antivirus software, other security and firewall programs.

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Alternatively, you can follow the steps described in the links for Windows 7:

  • Network AD - HOC detected on ipad 2 but access Internet No.

I use a Windows Vista (Home Pre Version). I use a wired internet connection on my laptop & I want to share internet via wi - fi on my ipad.

So for this I did the following -.

    1. Add the Ad Hoc network using a WEP password and
    2. share the internet connection option.
    3. successful connection and ok.

I am able to detect the network Ad - Hoc Wifi on my ipad but not able to access internet. Or make a sign of the wifi on my ipad.

I tried to use various Wifi hotspot software as Virtual Router / Connectify etc, but still the problem persists.

    Help, please.

Did you connect your ipad to the ad hoc network? Or just to detect, it is, after you have entered the password, you were actually able to join the ad hoc network?
In your PC or laptop, you must:
1 wired or wireless Internet connection shared.
2 wireless ad hoc network, which means that you need a wireless DEDICATED ONLY to this AD - HOC network card, so if in step 1 you choos to use the wireless card to share your Internet connection, then you will need a SECOND wireless CARD to configure your ad hoc network.
Your best shot would be to share Internet via the CABLE connection dedicated card wireless ad-hoc network.
In my case, I chose to share-wireless ad-hoc (2 wireless cards) wireless, I tested with - wireless, both working just end, vista ultimate OS, iPad 2.
