After you have installed the Windows XP updates a week ago (10/22/09 - while others seem to have gotten 0x000000E7 BSOD), my computer hangs when you try to use the floppy drive.  Neighbor has same problem.  However, another neighbour, who did not install the updates since 1 September doesn't have this problem.  We use Windows XP.  I even created a file on the diskette using the player of the 'good' of the neighbor and tried in my computer and the neighbour - always crushed the two machines.  Saw post to that topic or similar problem the other day, but he lost it when I hit the wrong button and cannot find him. Help!

He is now 10/29 (5:20 pm EDT), and after three days of trying to solve this problem, I'm really frustrated.  Carefully removed eight updates installed since 14/10/2009. I removed them one at a time in reverse order, they were installed (LIFO) and I tried using the floppy after each removal drive, but still get BSOD. My BIOS/CMOS watch floppy drive and my device manager says its working. I even deleted the physically and in the BIOS, floppy drive deleted the contoller of floppy and drivers floppy drive in Device Manager. restarted and other devices working properly.  Reinstalled drive, reset the BIOS, restarted and Windows loaded automatically (as checked in the Device Manager) drivers - always get BSOD when trying to read the disk.

I would have completely uninstalled CA, except that this user really liked the CA email spam filtering. So, I disabled the antivirus and antispyware of all parties and uninstalled the CA Personal Firewall, and here, the floppy drive has started working. I then installed the new Microsoft Security Essentials to prvide a / v sp and psyware protection.

  • How can I block access to the hard drive to windows when the computer is blocked?

When I leave the computer on and 'blocked' option it accesses the hard drive and "work like crazy. Simple I want to block all the software to access the disk hard until I connect again.

I want the computer to be available on the network, but does not.

    Thank you

Sorry, but that is simply not possible.  Each computer doing something, if you're connected or not, each tick every millisecond it's on.  If you could freeze the process somehow, you would also freeze the processes and services that would allow you to access the network. Better, we advise to leave it alone, lock to prevent others from accessing and then do what you need to on the network.

  • How to disable access to the cd player while windows is locked.

    Hello

Does anyone know it's possible to disable access to the cd/dvd drive while windows is locked?

That is, I would like to press Ctrl + alt + delete to lock my pc, then while I'm away, someone presses the eject button on my cd player and it will not eject.

I have looked in device, properties of D: drive management, security settings, etc., but have been unable to find such a control to this day.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    J

    Hi JC_226,

This isn't the Windows feature. Can not disable access to the cd player while windows is locked. However, there is an option to disable the CD/DVD device. To do this, you can follow these steps:
    a. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click ok.
    b. in the list of objects, expand CD/DVD players.
    c. right-click on the sub element and click on disable.
    d. follow the instructions in the wizard to disable the device.

Important: If you disable a device that is required to start the system, such as your floppy drive or CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive, these devices will not work, and your system might not start.

  • System crash when I install the bluetooth driver in windows 8.1

    HP Pavilion 15-e034tx

When I install bluetooth driver in system failure windows 8.1 with this error "unhandled Thread Exception system.

    Bluetooth hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1814 & DEV_3298 & SUBSYS_18EC103C & REV_00

Sir where is Bluetooth for Windows 8.1 driver?

    can someone help me please?

Hello everyone I found the solution to this problem of Bluetooth. First of all, I want to share the essue of Blutooth hand in windows 8.1.

History is actually a bit interesting: Microsoft has fixed a bug in the rollup of November which exposed a bug previously hidden in Bluetooth drivers for Ralink/Mediatek, resulting in all the world with a fully-updated Windows 8.1 and Ralink bluetooth (very common in low price/low-end systems) to BSoD unless the bumps users to a system restore point before updates of November. So yes, there are sometimes dangers for fixing bugs.

    Basic requirements:

    1. all drivers for HP laptop, BIOS and windows 8.1 implemented to date with the latest updates.

    File Requirements:

    1 8.1 Windows file update kb2917488 - x 64 (download link)

    http://www.4shared.com/RAR/CP-Ov9Hv/blutooth_update_fix.html

    2. Ralink software Bluetooth driver (windows 8 or 8.1 Windows)

    Basic steps:

First check windows update, download and install any updates. Also download and install the latest driver for windows 8.1

Download file update 8.1 for Windows kb2917488 - x 64 in 4shared link. (File name: Bluetooth fix)

kb2917488 - x 64 Windows 8.1 updated in.cab(cabinet file) If you need to know how to install the .cab file installation.

    The .cab file installation steps

Open the administrator command prompt and run the following command to install and integrate the Archives of Cabinet:

    Pkgmgr/ip/m:.cab / quiet

    Or,

    start/wait pkgmgr/ip/m:.cab / quiet

Replace with the path (location) for the file .cab and with the file name of the cab without parentheses. If the CAB file is in the current directory (same directory where the command is executed, the path can be ignored.

    Example: pkgmgr /ip /m:C:\Users\User update fix\windows8.1-kb2917488-x64_43f3b89601d407a00cbf87297ab1ddb0ba1c4619.cab/quiet

(If you do not understand the method of installing the .cab file search for it on google)

This command silently install the Windows kb2917488 8.1 update file - x 64 in your system... complete installing the automatic system successfully reboots (wait automatic reboot)

Now you can install your old windows 8 Ralink Driver Bluetooth software or update the latest driver with HP Support Assistant in windows 8.1.

(Note: install all the drivers to run as Administration) (Sorry for the bad English)

What is the deadline for this driver?

In addition, if there is an alternative solution, I would be very happy to know!

    Hi dcmdtna,

We do not have time for these updates. We are more than happy to send your comments to the appropriate Department. We place a very high value on feedback from our customers because it allows us to continue to improve. Alternatively, you can try to download the update from this link. I can't guarantee that it works. If this does not resolve the problem, we can always return the computer to its default settings. Just a quick note, please do backup all the files first and possible please create recovery disks for your unit before update you the driver using the download link. I hope this helps!  Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

    Hello

This afternoon, I tried to install the home group. When I did, I got a message that windows could set up homegroup for this pc. (I'm not sure if this is relevant, but it's the last thing I did with windows before my problems started).
-At the moment when I try to go to c:\, I get an access denied message.
-When I go on c:\Users\Patrick then it shows my files and the directory.
-When I opened a word from this directory document, it works (so I have read access).
-I can't make a new folder in my home directory.
-When I start for the mmc instance get Windows cannot access... 0x800704b3 error code after diagnose I get an error that convenience store could not start error code 0 x 80070005. (it happens with all windows utilities.
-When I start safe mode it restarts after a few seconds (after he show users)
-When I try to activate the account administrator to the command prompt it says access denied.
-When I try to access the settings with the UAC, it does not.
-When I start a normal program (like VS2008) it starts up, when I do as an administrator I get the same error that when im from the mmc.

I have my PC from Vista

Homegroup only works for Win7, Win7. So I don't know what you were doing. Try a system restore to before that you did whatever it is that you did. You can start with your Vista DVD and access to restore the system from there. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
