No audio what-so-ever not using XP SP3 on a dc5100 hp with audio integrated

I use a HP dc5100 almost every day.  A week ago my sound came out.  I am running XP SP3... I ran the Microsoft Fixit and other options help to land with no result.  I don't have the original XP installation disk either.  I ususally use the built-in speakers on my same screen changed to a Harman/Kardon stand-alone installation without success.  Do you have all the controls 'device', typical audits, reloaded drivers, etc... nothing. I do not even audio patterns at the launch, stop, etc. in just a few clicks from time to time. but certainly not the sound.  Idid a restore from a week ago about... but still no change.

Any suggestions?  A way to use my backup Carbonite? OR?

I went through the Setup again and concluded that the Plantronics headset is somehow became my default device in the "sounds and Audio Devices Properties dialog box.  I went to my SoundMAX driver and independent speakers work!  Now I have to go back and see the Plantronics headset works as well as my stage monitors...
