No command send/receive in Windows mail as Outlook Express

My new Windows Mail with 7 doesn't have a way to order a way to "send/receive" when using Windows Mail.  Where is it hidden?

You mean that Windows Live Mail?
Send/receive is now called 'Sync '.

  • Send/receive in Windows Mail box is off the screen to the right

Outbox send/receive in Windows Mail (Vista) used to appear at the top left of the screen.  Now, she is partially visible and on the top right of the screen.  I would like to return it where it was.  It comes to the Outbox Send/REC/WAV with the Green shows the 'streaming' line in messages and not the send/REC/WAV in a box in the toolbar.

Right-click on the toolbar and slick on customize and control the order of the displayed icons.  Adjust them to send/receive is not the end, but where you want.  If the order is good but it still hurt shows, press the Reset button and that should restore icons in their right place (although if you have no customization, you will need to do it again).

After further review, I know that I have responded to the toolbar tells you not what you were referring too.  I've been looking for each menu option and toolbar option I could find and you can't find any reference to any other send/receive button available in Windows Mail so that I have all the answers for you since the feature that you are discussing seems to not exist in my copy.  My only suggestion is to try to grab it with the mouse (left-click on it and hold down the left button) and see if you can move whenever you prefer it to be.  Otherwise, I have no suggestions to offer.  Do you know how to activate this box on or off (do appear or disappear) - if so, please explain how it's done.  If we can get this dialog to appear in our versions, then maybe we can find a way to solve the problem.  Have you ever installed some software enhancements 3rd party Windows Mail which could include this as a feature?

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

Is there a way to get windows mail to export the email info IE PST file, so I can forward the e-mail to another computer running XP with outlook express

Windows Mail or Outlook Express uses pst files. Only use MS Outlook. A simple way to do what you want it to.

Create a folder on the Vista desktop. Drag a WinMail folder messages in this folder. Copy it to the desktop of the XP machine and drag messages from the desktop folder to a folder in OE. Make as many records as needed. Bruce Hagen MS - MVP [Mail]

  • I get the empty error message when clicking on "send & receive in Windows Mail.

Original title: I receive a blank error message when you click "Send & Recieve" in Windows Mail.

I recently asked a question in the Microsoft answer that I could access Internet Forum is no longer my favorites to Internet Explorer 8 (although they were always on display in the folder My Favorites in my user account folder.)  Several fixes to this problem have been proposed, but the one that worked was when it was suggested that I might have a corrupted user account.  I was directed to Microsoft link "How to fix a corrupted user profile." I followed the instructions and created a new user account and copied the files to the new account. Was done to correct the problem, and now I can access all my favorites still in IE8 in the new user account.

However. I am now no longer able to send or receive messages in Windows Mail. When I click on "Send & receive" I get the box that says "some errors occurred while processing tasks requested. Please see the list of errors below for more details. "However, the box below which is supposed to list the errors is completely empty. I contacted my ISP (Virgin Media) provider, who did various diagnostic tests. They told me that this isn't a problem with their security, and they checked my account settings to make sure that everything is correct. They seem to think that this could be a problem with my registry. They sent several messages test (arriving in my web Virgin Media mail box), but for some reason are not getting downloaded in my Windows Mail. On a few occasions did pass the test messages (but only after I closed Windows mail and then reopened.) However, Windows Mail has stopped working again.

Just once, I got details of an error that has been ' ERR protocol error. Port 110, secure (SSL): 0X800CC90. 0x800ccc18 error number. "However, it was the only time. All other times, the error box is completely blank.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me solve this problem.  I'm very IT limited knowledge.

    Cody

I looked in the links provided by Karena & Bruce, but they did not provide a solution to my particular problem.   I must say that I have noticed some improvements to Windows Mail but the button "Send & receive" still does not work properly. I can now send and receive messages.  If there is no message on my e-mail server of the Virgin, access automatically when I open Windows Mail. However, if a new message is sent to me and as I click on "Send & receive" Windows Mail is already open on my computer, I always get the empty error message. The only way I can access the message is to close Windows Mail and re - open once again, when the new message is downloaded automatically. I found a link that says this error could be due to a duplicate news account.  I found that I had two ms.news accounts in my Windows Mail account and remove one of them.  However, this has not resolved the problem, and I'm still only able to receive new messages by the opening and closing of Windows Mail.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

  • Unable to send movies via e-mail from outlook express

I use Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8.

    Original title: Microsoft Outlook Express.

I use Picasa 3 to my photo library. I recently created a CD with accompanying music track. I want to send an email directly from Picasa the completed 'movie'. To date, the recipient receives only the copy of the coverage on the attachment. They are unable to open the movie and play the slide show. I send the photos without problem. Is there something in Outlook Express that inviting me to turn to 'allow' send me a movie that will play on the opening reception?

    Thank you for your help

You need Adobe Flash to view the videos online like You Tube if that helps. I installed it.

  • How to make a template for windows mail as outlook express?

Hi, when you use outlook express we had models that we could use to send emails. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have this option with windows live mail. We would really like to have this option because it looks good, when sending emails. Can someone please help us refocus on windows live mail. Thanks much :(

Outlook Express is not a model option. Perhaps mean you MS Outlook?

If you want an e-mail with a standard text and may be recipients, create it in WLMail. When you are finished, click on the Menu button. Save as file and save it as a desktop .eml file. If you wish, you can drag the icon in the taskbar for easy access.

When you want to use this template, simply click on the envelope icon that was created and WLMail will open with your saved information. Add the extras and then send it.

  • Windows Mail or Outlook Express

Is is possible to change the Outlook Express instead of Windows Mail email client in Vista?  I just got a new computer with Vista, but many prefer Outlook Express with the big buttons.

Not possible, Outlook Express does not work on Vista.  You should consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, which has more features:

  • Windows XP SP3 - Outlook Express receives and sends mail but do not delete received messages. Can you help?

Windows XP SP3 - Outlook Express receives and sends messages, but do not delete received messages.  Can you help?

You have corruption of dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  • I can't send or receive e-mails via Outlook Express. I can access through my ISP webmail.

    Outlook Express problems

I can't send or receive e-mails via Outlook Express.

I can access through my ISP webmail.

In short and in laymans terms (I'm not a tech wiz) the automatic link between my ISP and Outlook Express does not work.

I also lost all my emails in the Inbox.

I run a Windows XP Home Edition.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Search for interference antivirus (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).  Then go to file | Identities and establish a new identity.  Add your email account and see if it works very well.  If so, you can go to file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.

Then, if you lost messages, check the trash and the message of the old identity store bak files that are backups of dbx files that you can retrieve (see point 2 on the page above).  If there is no bak file, then my DBXpress program (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) has an excerpt from disc feature that will analyze the entire hard drive for messages and if they are still there, it will recover them.
