No cursor in Windows Media Center

Whenever I am in the Media Center the cursor disappears.  This is a laptop, but the built-in mouse or an external mouse works.  Do you think I should remove and reinstall the program? Is this possible? I'd get the new Windows program? My computer is out of warranty so no go there.

Hello Estebanio,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

If you use Media Center in full screen, your mouse cursor should be hidden. If it does not appear when you move the mouse again, you may need to update your video drivers to see if they have updated drivers for your video card.

You can also try and press the Windows keyboard button, it should give you back focus to move the mouse.
The following article was written for Windows XP, but always relevant for Windows Vista Media Center because you have the same problem.

  • Windows Media Center on a bi-ecrans system

    Hello

I just started using a second monitor with my computer.

I tried to watch TV with Windows Media Center on the secondary monitor while I work on other things on the first monitor but when Windows Media Center is in full screen my mouse will not go back to the first monitor. Why? Is there a setting that can change this?

Please let me know a solution.

    Hello

It of a pain and has not been a problem up to what MS upgraded to Direcxt X 10.1 under Vista SP1.
To escape the other screen is possible.  The first solution is that in the answer of MS, but for some reason windows Center media are all 4:3, regardless of the setting of the screen, so you can't put a 'window' almost full screen.
To escape the "Windows key" success and move the mouse to the other screen and keep clicking somewhere who will not have side effects, etc. Empty office.  When all the windows are installed the cursor will remain on the other monitor and you can work.  Closing windows or any click on Media Center monitor can resume the slider.  Not a perfect solution, but it works.  I got a X 9 compatible graphics card and windows flashed for up to 45seconds (occult, is come, it exploded...) so I've upgraded to a compatible card X10.1 and now it's only a few seconds.  Note your remotes, the active window so most but not all buttons have a local effect, bizzarely some still work the Media Center program.

    Hello ddanhrt64b,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

You can check and see if you have selected Windows Media Center in programs and features.

    1. open the control panel configuration/programs and features.
    2. click on "Turn Windows features on or off" in the left pane.
    3. expand "Multimedia functions", check if you have selected 'Windows Media Center'.
    4. open "Turn Windows features on or off" again. Activate the 'Windows Media Player' and 'Windows Media Center' features. Turn it back on.
    5. launch Windows Media Center, initialize the program.

Then go to start, all programs and see if Windows Media Center is now displayed.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows media center network (WMCN) uninterrupted actions - 97% of CPU!

    Hello

My characteristics: Win 7, IE9, 4 GB RAM, 320 disc only half used.

Media players: Windows media center, iTunes, RealPlayer.

Me: above the knowledge of the average user, but certainly not a techie.

Problem: Windows Media Center network shares nonstop and uses 97% of RAM memory. Norton kept alert me to very high CPU usage caused by Media Network Sharing. One or 2 cores, no clue. I ran diagnostics (msconfig, all the performance tools, etc.) I don't know what is sharing with or what. I have somehow cut off the connection. No luck. Finally, I disabled the WMCN, he eliminated as a player option and finally my cursor could pass with a little more enthusiasm. Yes, it was so bad. He is crawling and then he almost died.

Problem: at least I can now access this site! I ran a full system diag and it mentions the player once again, and superfetch. Reading the comments on MS Answers, there is a certain files with a good amount of info in the prefetch folder. Should I really delete this and then turn the superfetch? All my other effors failed.

Problem: She also said something too Exchange. Yes, much too much of a good thing I guess. It seems that 1 solution would be to select a paging size, instead of letting windows decide. Do you agree?

Problem: iTunes access is no longer the store and it no longer displays my library! I have contacted Apple and we talked for an hour, traded emials, but not luck. Libraries are there, may be moved, but I have used both iTunes & Real regularly for about 18 months. What gives? This happened after that windows media was synchronization/networking in all directions.

    André

Thank you very much. All of these events occurred this week. When I have a bad week, it's really bad.

    Hello

What is the current status of the issue?

If you encounter any problem with your computer as bluescreens and unexpected restarts, you must delete all files using disk cleanup from time to time.

Check out the links to learn more about restore points.

How much space does System Restore disk requires?

  • Windows Media Center "to listen or look at a conflict"... does not recognize the TV tuner

I have completely exhausted the forum Windows Media Center for response to the resolution of this problem. I replaced my unit ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Ready, as well as my graphics card tuner, and WMC still says 'No TV Tuner Found"and the message" listen or look at a conflict - no tuner available to meet the current demand "when I try to watch live TV. I have also a "no tuner hardware detected... Please ensure equipment is installed correctly...» "if I try to set up the TV Tuner again.

I don't think that my answer lies in Windows Media Center or hardware from ATI. I'm now trying to figure out if it involves this feature installed at the factory of HP listed on the bottom of my computer: "GENUINE WINDOWS VISTA HOME Premium TUNER DIGITAL". I understand that it is the software and hardware.

I would be grateful if anyone has answers. If anyone knows what this function is that was installed at the factory, and how I can uninstall and reinstall the software and replace the hardware, I understand that too.

    Thank you

After unsuccessfully trying everything I could find that had the potential to solve my problem, I finally solved the problem myself.

It's actually a corrupted Windows file that allows my TV tuner, which caused all my problems. I reinstalled my Vista operating system to its original state, and now the ATI TV tuner works fine. Easier said than done.

  • No big screen in Windows Media Center on Qosmio G10-133?

    Hello
I just set up my Qosmio G10-133 to watch the TV via a set-top box Freeveiw. However in Windows Media Center, I can't see it on the big screen. If I veiw the same programe in the Toshiba drive I can veiw on the big screen OK.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Windows Media Center - why it cannot detect TV?

I used Qosmioplayer and it detects the TV from my Sky Digibox very well signal. However, I would like to record TV with my laptop and when I try to set up the TV using Windows Media Center, it cannot detect anything. I tried every possible permutation and the manual does not give pointers...

Why the Qosmiplayer works for the entrance to Sky TV, but not the media library?

Please help it's driving me crazy!

I assume you are using a lead of areal coaxial standard to connect to your sky box? If so, you need to know which way the sky is coming in the. To do this, use the Qomsio drive to search for channels and when it detects the signal from Sky, it will tell you which way it is passed on. Something like channel 36. OK, now you have this information, start the machine and go into Media Center. You must manually add this channel. As Media center works with the EPG, all channels such as the skyinput must be added.

So, in the main menu, go to

Settings > TV > Guide > add missing channels > add channel

Now enter the channel name you want displayed when viewing. IE SKY.

Now you enter the channel number 36 IE that you got the Qosmio engine. This will now be held on the next available channel. IE 6/7/8 etc. Everything do you now is go to the channel and it appears at the entrance to heaven.

    Hope this helps

    Hello

I recently bought a 10th G40 and I was wondering how to set up dual Tv Tuner in Windows media Center to watch and record the Tv at the same time.
I tried to download the new driver from the Toshiba download page, but it seems to make no difference that Media Center does not give me the ability to configure 2 tuners.

    Hello

    Found this useful Microsoft page:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/products/windowsvista/footnotes.mspx

Take a look at the chapter * M *-> on MCE

    You can find this info:
+ Reading and TV recording features require a USB TV tuner or external. Supports up to two TV tuners +.

So in my opinion, you cannot record TV and watch another channel at the same time using only the internal TV tuner.
