No entry just wiped MacBook Pro for resale, sign on reboot.

I recently crossed the steps online to sell my MacBook Pro 2012. It took 11 hours I chose the safest option to have no problem for the customer who purchases thereafter. However, I went through to make sure everything has been deleted, but was met with a grayish no entry sign. I tried restarting and using the keyboard but no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

No entry sign is no indication that the Mac cannot find an operating system.

Make sure you have an Internet connect and restart Recovery online (Command + Option + R). You should see a rotating globe and it will take a few minutes (~ 5) to start the Apple servers and their HD recovery. Once the completed progress bar, you should see the OS X Utilities menu. From there, you can use disk utility to erase your Macintosh HD, and then close THE and select reinstall OS X in the menu selections. This will reinstall the latest version of Mac OS X that was preinstalled on your Mac. When the installation is complete and you are in the configuration screen, power off your Mac and it will be ready for the next user.

There is no such thing as disabling Lightroom 5.7. Just uninstall the software.

Looks like you have installed 6 Lightroom on two of your computers (including the MacBook Air). In this case, you must find and launch Lightroom 6 (not Lightroom 5.7 or any other version of Lightroom 5) on the MacBook Air and then in the menu help, select logout.

  • Update of the MacBook Pro for iPad Pro?

I'm looking to replace my MacBook Pro (MBP) for a new iPad Pro. Apart from the obvious differences that exist between operating systems, i.e. OSX El Capitan vs iOS (9)

Are there specific functions or tasks that cannot be performed on an iPad Pro, which can be done on the MBP?

When it comes to streaming music (Spotify) and video (Youtube, Netflix, Amazon, BBC iplayer etc), will all these without downloading additional software, Flash drives or iOS apps for the iPad?

Any constructive comments will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Most OS X applications with versions of iOS will have reduced functionality located in iOS (for example. (Pages, Numbers, MS Office applications).  iOS is now supported split screen for some applications (not all), but it offers no true multitasking. iOS supports NO FLASH - never has and probably never will be.  Some 3rd party browsers or proxy subscription services offer alternatives to that, but it's not exactly a replacement for FLASH native.  It's the same for Java applications.

iOS is not addressable accessible file system or cross-app of the user, as OS X.  iOS apps are sandboxed to sand and largely unable to interact with eachother or every-other data.

Honestly, even though I love my iPad Pro and use every day for staff and job tasks, it is NOT a true replacement for a desktop computer / laptop.  If your use is very specifically limited to certain iOS apps or certain types of applications that are very conducive to a tablet OS, you should be fine with just an iPad, but if not, you will find you want always a laptop or desktop computer, at least for certain tasks or the types of applications.

Please also note, that iOS devices, like any electronic mass storage, must be saved if you care about your data at all.  Without a computer, your only backup option is to iCloud online backups.  Solutions available iCloud for photography, however, NO do not replace true or complete for archiving your photos elsewhere for guard - should photo be archived elsewhere (computer, another Cloud Computing service) regardless of your choice of iCloud photo service (s).  A computer is a perfect solution for a backup of redundant iOS device using iTunes and iCloud for backups.  A computer is also required to restore an iOS device in the case of a corrupt system, update, install or some other potential recoverable occsionally disaster.

  • iTunes (for laptop MacBook Pro) for iPhone

Until now I was able to maintain a significant library of iTunes on my computer (laptop MacBook Pro) and transfer only the files currently, I wanted to play on my iPhone 5s, but now he has completely developed a mind of your own.  Even with 'Manage music manually' checked, he insists on the importation of (or at least the poster on the phone) ALL your iTunes library!  (But I would say it's actually being imported into the phone).  She adopted a very attitude "all or nothing".  When he downloaded everything on the iPhone, I was able to remove everything by going to settings > general > storage and use iCloud > storage to manage and simply remove all pieces of music.  Before when I did this, the icon of music seemed always with 'No Data'.  Now it has disappeared completely, perhaps because the phone is disconnected from the computer.  The songs seem to have disappeared, but it has developed two problems:

    1. it displays everything when connected to iTunes - I can't tell which are actually on the phone, unless they are all.

    2. some files iTunes, when I slip and fall, apparently correctly appear on the phone, the other files created identically, which did not play on the computer, and who were on the phone before, now does not transfer to the phone, and others sometimes and sometimes not.  Then when I stop to think or straighten, iTunes spilling everything on the phone and I need to remove again.  Summer in circles for hours and no end in sight.  Go to bed and in the hope of waking up with a usable answer.  Thanks for any help.

    < re-titled by host >

Trying to import from iTunes to my iPhone, I checked "Manually manage music" and tried to check and uncheck "Sync only Checked songs."  At best, it is not good as all songs are checked for "Songs", while the single view where I can keep collections at halfway straight albums.  (Seems not a way to alphabetize or elsewhere to organize the albums - you just have to scroll through everything in a random order, select those you want, and then have iTunes maniacal laugh as it does not account of your choice or simply synchronizes everything.)  At worst, checking or unchecking "Sync only checked Songs" doesn't make any difference because there seems to be no way to check entire albums and ONLY the albums you want.  Whatever it is, with "Sync only checked Songs" checked or unchecked, iTunes will not a * thing until I started to drag an album on the phone and then it drags the WHOLE LIBRARY WITH HIM, AND IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE to GET JUST THE BIT I want AND NOTHING else!  She was torturing me for three days.  It is horrible and evil and is determined to make me drag my computer everywhere and never listen to more audio on the phone.  I hate it and they must be destroyed.

  • preparation of a Macbook Pro for return to society

Hi am back my company Macbook pro that has been with me for a while and to check that I followed the correct procedure with respect to my personal data?

    so far, I have:

deleted my folder of the computer

updated the software to El Captain (from Snow Leopard)

then a HD full erase of the utility disk in boot mode and re install the OS

CC-Cleaner to clean the Caches etc.

then for good measure, I did an erase secure free space through the terminal and transformed file Vault 2 on

    couple of questions though:

I can see that the OS has import old bookmarks for Safari so I was wondering what else may have migrated to the new operating system with regard to my data?

(I put Safari in developer mode to clear the cache of the preview)

I'm almost tempted to just put in a new HD and back to Leopard as I have the original disks, but I'll be able to re install if this disk has been used before?

    Thanks a lot to adv

    D

Unless you used a company Apple ID(or one of Apple's Lion install thumbdrives) to install the operating system, you may not return with a more recent than 10.6.8 on that OS. Otherwise, Yes; you will be able to use the original disks if you need to.

  • El Capitan on a Macbook Pro for mid-2012?

In other words - my OS upgrade needs badly. Slowdowns of Safari and page gel side, I start to have problems of compatibility.

I stuck with the Lion of the mountains (OS X 10.8.5) for a while now, and as much as I love him, I decided that I have to upgrade.

In other words, how can I expect to run on a Mid-2012 medium-to-high range Macbook pro (chart below)?

    My main concerns are running speed and battery overall utilization;

I do a few games, nothing too big (Guild Wars 2 and Civ 5 are the heaviest), and my use of safari is quite heavy, so speed it would be a good thing. I have the laptop plugged in most of the time, but I would like to know just would get worse how the battery life.

  • Best new MacBook Pro for Fusion 3 + Windows 7 designs?

    Hello

Thinking of getting a new MacBook Pro: probably the 13 inch with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD drive, model so that I can run various test VM in quickly for the work.

Is the NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M graphics good enough to chip for Windows 7 with Aero under Fusion 3?    Or is the MacBook Pro 15 inch worth getting just for the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 M chip graphic GT card?

Is there any point of paying more for a slightly faster processor?  Model 13-inch offer 2.26 GHz or 2.53 GHz.  The 15-inch model has several choices, up to 3.06 GHz.

I'm not really a player, but it would be nice to have a machine that was fast enough to play the occasional 3D game correctly!

    Any thoughts?

    -Martin.

I own a fine 2.26 Ghz 13 '' MacBook Pro 4 GB and Aero factory with a 9400.  I'm a regular reader of pin no SSD, though. If you want I can run the Windows Experience index so you can compare my specs against other models.  Most of the latest models from Apple, including the latest minis can run Aero very well, if all you want is confirmation, if not, you make a subjective decision here.

Get the computer. iPads are portable accessories for use with a computer. They cannot replace the computer.

  • A macbook pro for a top model of trade

Hi everyone, I bought a Macbook Pro a few months ago, and I wonder if I can share this computer for a top model with a financial supplement?

Not with Apple.  They do not take in trades.

Sell the MBP on ebay or Craig's list and apply funds on the MBP you want.

  • What is the best way of reformatting my MacBook ssd for resale?

I'm preparing my 2015 12 '' MacBook 1.3 GHz 512 for resale.  What is the best way to erase and reformat the SSD drive?

    Thanks in advance!

Before you sell or give away your computer, and more the steps listed in this article to support, please follow these steps:

    1. run the Diagnostics from Apple or the Apple Hardware Test. The buyer will do (or it should), and you won't be surprised by the results.

    2. reset the PRAM and the SMC, which may contain personal information.

    3. If you set a firmware password, remove it by running the utility in recovery mode firmware password.

    4. If you turn on FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.

    5. If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted.

    6. If you have created another partition of data on internal disk, remove them in disk utility.

    7. If the machine has an internal hard drive, erase the remaining data partition with the possibility of putting the data to zero. An SSD has no need to be set to zero.

    8. remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it is still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the warranty to the new owner as described in the terms and Conditions AppleCare (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

    Note also:

You can legally or transfer almost any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. This includes OS X, so if you've switched to OS X 10.7 or later, you need to reinstall an operating system older, either from the installation media, if any, or by commissioning in recovery mode of the Internet (option-command-R start ringing.)

The new owner will have to re-download everything software that came on the App Store, as appropriate, including updates of OS X, under her Apple ID. If you never updated applications bundled iLife (iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band) through the App Store, you can not transfer these either. The buyer must buy them. Note that iPhoto has been suspended and is no longer available for purchase.

  • Error: "Windows could not update the configuration to start the computer. Installation cannot move forward"during the installation of Windows 8 64-bit OEM System Builder on Macbook Pro for help using Boot Camp

    Hello

I have a brand new Macbook pro and I bought the OEM System Builder of 64-bit Windows 8 driver in a store. My problem is that I have not only not able to install it using Boot Camp. At the end of the installation, a message appears with the following text "Windows could not update the configuration to start the computer. Installation cannot continue.

I'm not really a tech guy but I also tried to download virtual box and the same error comes back.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you!

Original title: Windows 8 64-bit English OEM System Builder

The thread is old now, but it is for those who always have this problem.

When I got the error, I cancelled and restarted the machine. I pressed the 'option' button when starting upwards and he grew the boot partitions. You should see a 'EFI Boot' partition. Choose that and you restart the installation process, but this time it works.

Supposedly the boot EFI and WinInstall partition should do the same thing. Manually, select one or the other.
