No external drive no free space, or if it is said

Hi all

I have a Sansa 8 GB fuse with an extra 8 GB external

On the external hard drive, I have 1 already loaded audio book.  I tried to add my latest acquisition.

When I go in the "info" screen under settings, I am told that there is some 7572 MB of remaining memory,

Yet when I try to add to this external hard drive, even the smallest file (as a test) I tells me memory is full.

I probably need to reformat the external hard drive, but I'm not sure if that's what I have to do, or even

How to do it without creating problems if I jump in without notice and that you're wrong.

What's happening in the files, how I recreate, etc..  Is there firmware for then reload?

Any help would be greatly appreciated... I am a real novice at this!

Thank you...

Hello again, I have some successes to report, and for those who have the same problem, here is what happened:

You are in Mode MSC (under Settings/Control Panel)? He should just drag - move. The update of the firmware goes to default auto-detection or DPW.

I have in the past used the PSG to drag / move.   In this mode, I removed the book audio which was on the external hard drive, if it was 'empty', no file showing, yet 'Properties' showed a PCI full height.

You can also run on that error checking (right-click on the card in the computer or workstation, properties / tools/error checking) to see if a bad file hurts.

In MSC Mode, did not recognize the external card.   Thus, while there, I made a Volume control on internally and found no errors.   The volume showed 3.3 GB used; 4.23 GB of free, so both sets of memory were not recognized in MSC Mode, only the inside.

If you do not need to format the micro SD card, do it through the windows. (In mode MSC, detonators, find the drive, right click, Format.) There is no firmware to reload the card.

I did a format of external drive while I was in MTP mode, it was not recognized as a MSC.

I apparently managed, after refreshing, MSC, audio books and Podcasts files reappeared.

So no worries on this concern.

The internal memory of own Fuze can be formatted under Settings/Control Panel, without disturbing the firmware of the rocket.

I'll keep this tip for another time, I seem to be upward and work and I thank you for your advice.

I don't know how this mark as resolved, but it is, hooray... and thank you!

  • How to import pictures to my library of Photos on Macbook Pro if I moved the library to an external drive to save space?

Recently, I copied my library of Photos (Yosemite version 10.10.5) on an external drive, so I can then delete it to free up disk space. I've read some older articles (a few years), because I can't find the newest, who speak of creation and management of affairs to a new library, but it does not appear to match the drop-down menus, I work with that.  I myself as much as to rename the Library copy, I still have on my Macbook Pro, but don't know what to do to go from there, since I seem to be outdated instructions.  I have not removed the library still existing on my Mac because I fear that I won't be able to undo everything I do.  Can someone enlighten me please?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Pictures always open and use the last use library - hold down the option key while launching Photos and choose the library on the EHD (note the EHD must be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled), be connected via a fast wired connection and should not be used as a backup volume Time Machine)-a complete test it and then you can remove the library on the internal disk (test once more before emptying the Recycle Bin)

  • Store of data for a single data Windows drive must free space for snapshots or any other reason?

I have a machine virtual it is partition C: is on a data store. I have a data store separate 500 GB and I want to give all of the 500 GB for this virtual machine as a D: partition. I think that for this virtual machine snapshots will reside on the data store that is home to the C: partition. Is this correct or should I leave little free space on the data of 500GB store?

In addition to the vmdk, a small header file (a few bytes) is created in the data store. You may need a few (a few MB) of additional space if you use the modified block followed for example backup and replication. So I recommend that leave you little free space.

Make sure that the database VM store is configured with at least a 2 MB block size so you can fix the vmdk on the virtual machine.

  • Free space on the C drive. How big should the Windows folder (normally) be?

I have a HP desktop with a 90G hard drive for drive C with 74G of real ability.  Drive C is now available 1.02 G.

I've already moved all documents on an external drive to free up space and I have more left to move.  The Windows folder has 54G with 35253 files and 3437 files.  I have Disk Defragmenter and disk cleanup which reduces the Windows folder by less than 1 G.

What is 'normal' for Windows size, if there is such a thing?  How can I make smaller windows?   I have no idea of what files are in the windows can be deleted.  Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    This is not true.

The %windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS file is supposed to contain jobs waiting to be printed.  This is the print spooler.

This suggests two things: either you have malware files in that folder (which seems unlikely), or you send print jobs to a printer to be connected to your computer, but now is not.  When you realized that a job does not print, you re - sent to the correct printer.

In all cases, follow these steps, which will empty this folder (and make your system perform better).

    A. Clean on print jobs pending

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line

    net stop spooler
    del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
    net start spooler
    output

Once you do this, go to printers and faxes and uninstall all of the printers that you no longer need... and remember that the default printer (the one with the box) is the one which is effectively connected to the computer.

  • Why the files are stored on an external drive not appearing in the "other" classification on my iMac HD?

I'm running OS X version 10.11.4 on an iMac, retina 5 K 27-inch/3.5 GHz Intel Core i5 with 24 GB RAM/1 TB HDD and I have had for about a year, although I migrate some files over my old machine, but most were on an external.  I have almost all my larger files on an external drive 2 TB - for the most part hi res .eps, .jpeg, .png.

I run CleanMyMac 3 as a utility. When I saw recently that I had more than 600 GB of 'others' I decided I have to spend the day to clean my files and machine - and have therefore been sucked into this rabbit hole.

After cleaning duplicate files, empty the caches, removing unused applications and clean the external hard drive, I have still 570 GB of "other".  When you click on the bar in their own my Mac, it gives you a list of what is included in each of the classifications of file storage.  I understand, including all Documents to plain text, PDF and even files .docx, ect...

what I don't understand is why:

1 .pages (documents created in the clean Apple program) are not classified with documents, rather than as 'other '.

    2. why each of my .eps files that are stored on an external drive also claim space on my Mac?  It would potentially be the preview images displayed in the Finder? And if so, why it store a snapshot of the same size as the actual file?

AND, most importantly, I can recover some of the disk space consumed by the huge amount of .eps files?

    Thank you

'CleanMyMac' is a scam and a frequent cause of instability and poor performance. Depending on which version you have, the developer's instructions may not completely uninstall. Please follow these instructions, then do as below.

Back up all data before proceeding.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select this option:

    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Agent.plist

Right-click or Ctrl-click on the highlighted line and select

Services ▹ reveal in Finder (or just to reveal)

the contextual menu.*, a file can open with a selected item. If so, move the selected item to the trash. You may be prompted for administrator login password.

    Repeat with this line:

    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Agent

Restart the computer and empty the trash.

You may also delete one or more of these elements in the same way:

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac.helperTool.plist
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac.volumeWatcher.plist
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist

Never install "CleanMyMac" or something like that.

    * If you do not see the item context menu copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. In the Finder, select

Go ▹ go to the folder...

from the menu bar and paste it into the box that opens by pressing command + V. You won't see what you pasted a newline being included. Press return.

For the other category in the display of information storage, see this support article. If the display appears to be inaccurate, try to rebuild the Spotlight index.

Empty the trash if you don't have it already done. If you use iPhoto, emptying his trash internal everything first:

    ▹ iPhoto empty the trash

    In pictures:

▹ Show of the recently deleted ▹ file delete all

Do the same thing in other applications like Aperture, with an internal feature of the trash. Then, restart the computer. Temporarily, which will free up space.

According to the documentation from Apple, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the boot volume (as shown in the Infolog) for normal operation, not the mythical 10%, 15% or any percentage. You also need enough space to allow the growth of the data over. There is little or no advantage in terms of performance to get more free space than the minimum Apple recommends. Storage space you'll never use is wasted space.

See this support article for some easy ways to free up storage space. A common waste of space is old backups iTunes to mobile devices. As shown in this support article, select the devices tab in the iTunes preferences window, select the backup that you want to remove and click on delete the backups. Keep at least a backup of each device you use yet.

You can use a tool such OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and discover what is take up space. You can also delete files with it, but not unless you don't know you know what you remove and that all data is stored safely. This means that you have several backups, not one. Note that CESO works with OS X 10.8 or later.

Deletion of files inside a photo library or iTunes will damage the library. Such a library should be changed within the application that created it. It is the same for e-mail files.

Go further than if the problem is not resolved by the steps above.

ODS cannot see the whole file system when you run simply by double-clicking; He sees only the files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you must run it as root.

Back up all the data now.

Install the application in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it runs.

Triple-click any where in the text line below on this page to select, then copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

    security execute-with-privileges /A*/OmniDiskSweeper.app/*/M*/* 2>&-

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing command + V. You will be asked for your login password.

The application window opens behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will finally show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.

I do not recommend that you make a habit of doing. Do not delete anything as root. If something should be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then remove by safer alternatives. If in doubt, leave it alone or ask for advice.

When you are finished with the app, he quit and also to leave Terminal.

  • Move the folder of Photos on an external drive

Hello my MacBook Air is near capacity. I'm going through iTunes and Photos on an external drive to free up disk space on the internal drive. I searched the threads and found the right solution for iTunes. I moved the entire iTunes folder to the external drive. Then, in the Advanced tab of iTunes preferences, I made the file to the new location on the external hard drive. That worked very well.

Now, I'm ready to try the same process with my library of Photos (which also includes years of photos iPhoto migrated). Can I move the folder full of images (as I did with iTunes) or simply pictures library on external drive? My suspicion is the entire pictures folder, because it also contains the migrated iPhoto Pictures folders, Lightroom, Adobe and Photo Booth also. After searching for the discussions, it is not clear to me how to do it with pictures.

    Thank you

    Jon

You can move either; Once completed, launch Photos with the key Option key, click library and choose the one on the external hard drive. ITunes library should be moved in the same way rather than change the setting in the preferences.

  • How to view the old libraries of iPhoto on an external drive without importing it?

In iPhoto, I used to keep all my libraries of photos on an external drive to save space (a different library for each year).  I would just choose which library I wanted access at the launch of iPhoto and it would launch from the external hard drive.  In the new photo app, I can't understand how to display these old libraries without actually importing them I won't do for space-saving reasons.  Anyone know how I can do to check/change photos from an external hard drive via the Photos app?  Thank you very much!

I took the hard drive of my MacBook Pro running OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 and pulled towards the high disk utility, but for some reason, that it does not resemble the disk utility it is to see the free space, so I can't create a new volume.

I'm a new Mac user. My company recently gave me a Mac, so the first thing I want to do is to create a new partition on this external USB drive to put backups Time Machine figures on it.

In the research I did find a way to do it on a mac computer without erasing the drive and starting over. But you can go to your windows computer and partition the free space of disks. Then use the mac to set the free space as mac os extended journaled. Here's what I found. http://www.PCWorld.com/article/2066191/how-to-partition-a-hard-drive.html the only other way would be to copy the file on the external drive, somewhere, so you can delete it and re partition for windows and mac. Then reinstall windows files. I'm not familiar with windows systems.

  • How long should it take a backup of your laptop (windows Vista) on an external hard drive (Lots if free space.

I'm writing this, it took well over 30 mins so far and it's not even halfway through the.

    Hello Stephen Murphy,

It really depends on what you save. Small files shouldn't take more than a few minutes (or seconds), plus large (1 GB for example) files may take 4 or 5 minutes or a bit longer.

If you back up your entire drive you might be looking at hours for backup.

Another problem, of course, is the speed of the USB connection on the external drive. 1 USB, for example will be much slower that USB 2 and USB 2 will be slower than the USB 3.

In many cases, it is necessary to "play the game of waiting" until the data transfer is completed.

  • Free space disappear in internal drive

    Hi you all...
I have a weird situation and I'll be glad if you could help me,
I had 2 big projects on my Macbook Pro 15.4 with reader 512SSD retina ((milieu de l'année 2013)) for a long time and today I finish them and copy to external hard drive to free up space on my laptop, projects, both took like almost 350 GB of my 512 GB SSD, so I had to remove , after I delete this 2 files and move them to the trash and empty the trash, I still don't see this empty space
in one hand the player seems to be ok and show me I have 383 GB available but on the other hand I see that nearly 300 GB taken my backup file (don't know where it comes from, or what it is) and I can't find my disk and when I tried to copy the new project to the laptop It is said that there is not enough space for it (and the new project is "only" 120GB)
How can I fix this please?

PS: I add some screenshot to understand what I wanted to tell u

    Please answer the following questions:

    1. What is the hard drive?

    2. how much free space there earlier (before the change suddenly)?

    3. do you have access to an external hard drive? (If not, get one!)

    4. do you have Zone Alarm installed? If so, which version?

    5. do you have enabled hibernation?

    6. have you emptied the Recycle Bin and temporary files? If this is not the case, see the following page:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/app_disk_cleanup.mspx?mfr=true

When I run Disk Cleanup, I only check the following points:

    Downloaded files Progran

    Temporary Internet files

    Web pages offline

    Recycle Bin

    Temporary files

    WebClient/Publisher temporary files

    7. in addition, for the restoration of the system, do the following duties:

Make a right click my computer and select Properties. Click the System Restore tab. Make sure that the disk with XP is highlighted (probably C :). Click on the settings button.

Under "Use of disk space", what is the value? (Percentage and MB)?

Yes, joel S suggestion should help you recover the part of your disk space.
