No Genius playlist more :(

I have an iPod classic 160g. I use the function to create a Genius playlist from the song I am listening. It worked great for a long time! However it is suddenly does not work. I hold down the Center button while the song and the menu appears, but 'Start Genius' is no longer an option. I checked the settings on the device and iTunes and synchronized - nothing has no effect. I have a lot of mainstream music, which must be easily recognizable. Any ideas? Clues?

Hello GregWA,

Thank you for asking your question here in Apple Support communities. I know how much my music is important to me all day, and the importance that the function is to put the songs that you come into a playlist. Here are a few things you can check.

The first thing I recommend is to simply put the power off, then on again. Sometimes he gets everything started working again and may be all you need. You can turn off the iPod classic holding the Play/Pause button. To turn it back on, press any button.

If you are still unable to find the option for a Genius playlist, iPod Classic Manual States: "the Genius cursor does not appear if the Genius information is not available for the current song. It's the manual linked here: iPod Classic User Guide on page 25. I noticed this also "so that the iPod classic to create a list of Genius, genius playlist must recognize the song selected, and there must be enough songs on iPod classic similar to the selected song.".

If you are able to check there are several songs with the title and the artist recorded properly in the device and the option is still not available, the manual I provided has very few settings to check who can solve your current problem.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

I just installed iTunes on my new MacBook Pro 15 "2.2 GHz and included in iTunes game as permitted him to play everything."

When I put in place the action menu to make a Genius playlist out of a selected song list, I don't have the 'create playlist Genius"that I'm used to. All Genius playlists I had already created in older versions (which are many) are available to play but when I try to update them I get a message saying «Genius is unavailable for the song...» »

As a matter of fact, the only mention of 'Genius' that I can find is "Genius Shuffle" and when try to use that I am presented with the "cannot start Genius Shuffle" message.

  • Difference between the departure station and the Genius playlist

I think I understand the difference, but it's still a bit vague for me. I can click with the right button on a song and select 'start the Station '. What I think he does is it takes the song and finds similar music music Apple (which I am a paid subscriber to). So I guess that similar to Spotify? Then, there is also list of Genius playlist, which after complaining that "Genius is not available for xxx...". Update? "and the update then generates a playlist of my music with similar songs.

    I understand the difference?

My understanding of the two, yes it's true!

Departure station is linked to the artist / song you are listening to in Apple's music library

Genius uses your music, which is linked to the artist / song you are listening to

Genius has been around since well before Apple music, why she uses your existing library to make a playlist.

  • iPod classic stuck on the genius playlist

I have a 160 GB iPod Classic 6.  Somehow, 'Genius - On-The-Go' got selected in the Playlist menu and nothing else.  So far, I was unable to remove it.  What escapes me, please?

Both of these are "integrated" software shipped from your iPod.  They are two of the "playlists" that you can create on the iPod.  To use these features, play a song.  On the now playing screen, press on and hold the Center button.  A menu is equivalent to using the song with the Genius feature or On-The-Go playlist.

  • Failed to create the Genius playlist on iOS 9.2 on iPhone

I found a lot of screen showing me that I should have this choice, but I have no shots.  Find the instruction to go to settings/music and toggle Genius on.  There is no choice.  Settings/music gives the Music Show Apple, use of cellular data, high-quality cell, sorting Albums and iCloud music library.  Aside from a link to the (re) subscribe to iTunes game, that's all.  Can anyone help?

  • Please bring back the 'Genius' of Apple TV playlist creation

Us do not subscribe to the Apple's music, but we love music and have a large local library to which we can access the home sharing.  In our House, we frequently use the Apple TV to play music when entertaining customers.  The Apple TV 3 and earlier versions, we used to pick a song that fits the mood and then now a pressure for the submenu where we would choose the option to create a Genius playlist.  It used to work great (and still works beautifully on my Mac in iTunes).

But on Apple TV 4, I can find no option to create a Genius playlist.  I hope that they add it in an update.  There must be a lot of users like me who don't agree not to music from Apple, but have a great local music library with which they want to create Genius playlists.

What do you think are the prospects of the genius feature brings Apple to Apple TV for us?  (because it still works very well in the eco-system)

What we think is irrelevant. Speculation and rumor are banned by Apple Support communities terms of use.

  • Genius has "disappeared".

    iTunes 12.4.0.119

I can see is more options for

    (in the menu)

    enable/disable genius

    the results of engineering update

and in the context menu of the song, the option to "do the genius playlist" disappeared

It was there as recently as a week ago

This part of an update or y at - it a bug?

The only option I see now is what we call "shuffle of genius" which is not what I want as it just seems to take things at random

Oh I see now in an "update" that Apple have removed this feature

So instead ideally be able to click on a track and "the genius playlist.

I have now to select the track, go to file, new, genius playlist

It is a TERRIBLE interface design and any obvious

Please bring back the original 'genius in the context menu' as soon as possible!

  • Delete the playlist

Somehow, I ended up with a Genius playlist, containing songs more 8 million in my iTunes. Whenever I go into iTunes and the attempt to delete the playlist, it will freeze iTunes and does not delete the playlist. Is there a file somewhere this playlist where I can remove it without using iTunes? What I've read, it seems that the playlists are all related in a file any? I don't care if deletes every playlist at this point, I just want it gone.

The songs have duplicated themselves many times over in this playlist, which is initially to show as many files. I do not have a lot of songs LOL

  • iOS 10 Genius disappeared

What happened to the Genius playlist feature in iOS10.  This was one of my favorite features to rediscover my large music library while sitting on a plane.  Update to iOS 10 yesterday and Genius disappeared.  Bad move, Apple.  Start working on your next update to reintroduce the feature.

Make sure you have your iCloud iTunes setting. That's what I did. iCloud library music to be precise. Only try.

  • iTunes 12.4 how to "start Genius" of evolving song?

Updated to iTunes 12.4 yesterday. I like the look of a large number of changes and, as with every change, getting used me to the new location of some of the existing features/functions. A point I've used frequently enough that I can't find in the new user/Contextual interface Menus is the ability to 'Start Genius' of the currently playing song. I know how to create a Genius playlist and it seems that "Engineering Shuffle" is in the commands Menu, but it seems that I completely lost the ability to simply start Genius based on the currently playing song.

Cela has anyone yet figured out?

This latest update, they killed just iTunes on many aspects. Genius doesn't work anymore, they want to push users to use Apple music | Create Stations (I do not use and do not plan to use the Apple music). So you don't try to understand, they simply removed. The shuffle of genius on this new version will just mix whatever he wants, not to take into account what you are listening. I was listening to Metallica and requested a Genius Shuffle then it starts playing Carly Simon.

Now you have to hold the active sidebar (they removed the upper right to change display options) for you to change the album, artist or Genre. And when you create a smart playlist, County music always gives the wrong count.

In short, this last update, is clearly the worst update ever created for an apple product.

I want to use the previous version... I will remove the auto-update on my MAC, so these new CRAP they deliver does not affect my apple experience at all.

    See you soon,.

  • How to see all Flickr of Mix Genius?

Mix Genius provides a set of mixes, but is it possible to see what tracks are included in each mixture? (Please note that this data is on Mix Genius Playlists not.)

After having searched and searched for an answer to this, it seems that it is indeed impossible to see thracks which are included in a Genius Mix. Well, not directly, in any case: it isn't a function provided by Apple. Some sites offer the use of iTunes DJ to create a 'normal' from a Genius Mix playlist, but this feature was dropped from iTunes a few releases, so there is no longer an option. However, Doug AppleScripts for iTunes comes to the rescue with a script called Dumb Down Mix Genius playlist, which can be found at http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=dumbdowngeniusmix

It's a work-around, of course, strawberry, it does the job. It creates a playlist from the currently active Genius Mix; You can specify the name of the playlist yourself and once created can look at its contents.

  • The visualization of the Playlist files push me to GO LIST

The equipment is E280 version 2, latest firmware by Sansa Updater. I use MTP mode because it works for me and for a year.

Until yesterday, everything worked fine. I would create a folder in the MUSIC directory, load my songs in it and after the file transfer, would do a right-click on the folder and select CREATE PLAYLIST. I rename the file selection .pla and then move it to the PLAYLIST folder. This process has worked since I got the thing for more than a year.

Yesterday, I added 6 more files in the MUSIC folder. I added 6 playlists more in this folder. All the music is in view in Explorer and all the playlists contain the correct files.

When I go to MUSIC - PLAYLISTS-(name of the playlist), most of them show the correct files, however, some go directly to the GO LIST, which on my drive is empty. It's weird. I tried to rename some of the playlists. The next time playlist who went to the GO LIST suddenly shows the correct music files and another list of reading which previously showed the right files suddenly shoot to the GO LIST. This baffled me.

The battery is fully charged and there is no problem with the data cable. I have 56 records music, 56 playlists and only 3.30 GB 8.00 used.

    Ideas anyone?

Well, combining playlists and music records, I found that I can view all the files in all my playlists, if I keep the number of playlists to 42 or under. On that and a playlist will show randomly the GOLIST instead of the files in the playlist. Frakin' pain-in-the-buttocks... might have to get a Zune...
