  • How can I disable the caps lock indicator/notification? -Lenovo Ideapad y700

Whenever I have press NumLock or CapsLock Maj, a useless and annoying indicator appears. I was extremely frustrated with this indicator, it is often close me out programs in full screen (videos and especially games) just to tell me that I pressed the caps lock button. If possible, I'd love to permanently disable these indicators/notification for caps and numlock.

    The online instructions indicate:

    1. Click Search, and then type Control Panel , and then click the appropriate search results.
    2. Click the icon to display , and then click change display settings on the left panel.
    3. Click on the Advanced settings, and then click the display tab.
Note: ThinkPad is displayed on the screen tab, should install the Hotkey driver.
    4. Check enable on-screen display.
    5. Under the "NumLock and CapsLock indicator settings" section, look for 'while the digital lock or caps lock is on"section, choose the option 'display the indicator for a few seconds'.
    6. Click apply, and then click OKand click OK to close the window.

I did not tab display on the screen, and I don't know what is the pilot "Hotkey". I have tried to download a driver related to display the parameters of the Lenovo download page, but that generated an error message. One of my friends suggested that the way to remove this could be through the registry editor, but I am not convinced that I could take without seriously damaging the software in some way.

Please, if anyone has solutions, suggestions or advice, I would appreciate you sharing! Thank you for reading.

    Hello

  • Change the source of entry with the Caps Lock key does not

It should be possible to change the input source with the Caps Lock key on macOS Sierra.

and I checked "Toggle ABC of input source with caps lock shift" in system preferences > keyboard > input Source.

However, it does not lock shift still only works as long as CapsLock

I tried to reboot, reset the keyboard shortcuts, deactivation of Siri, reset NVRAM and reset the SMC, but still does not.

I use only the default input source and have not installed and related programs to the keyboard or input source.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings slwsbl!

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that you want to change the input source with the SHIFT key on macOS Sierra. I understand the importance of wanting to use a specific key when changing inputs. I'm happy to help you with this.

It is possible to do. Please take a look at the User Guide helps Mac, specifically, this section:

    Switch between input sources

To switch between input sources, do one of the following:

    • Use the menu entry: Click on the menu entry in the menu bar, and then choose the input source. If an input source is dimmed, the current application does not support it.

    • Use the Caps Lock key: Press the caps lock shift key to switch between a non-Latin input (such as the Chinese or Korean) source and an input source Latin (for example, French or English).

To use this method, you must select the option "use Caps Lock to toggle to and from" in the stream of input methods. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click keyboard, and then click input methods.

    • Use keyboard shortcuts: Press control-Option-space bar to select the source of the following entry in the menu entry, or control-space to select the previous input source.

    Best regards.

  • Disable the CAPS LOCK key.

I did some research on the web on how to disable that pesky caps lock key, but I thought you guys could provide more reliable answers. I'm reasonably proficient with computers, but my fat fingers keep hitting the SHIFT KEY AND THEN EVERYTHING LOOKS LIKE IT UNTIL I have to REALIZE it AND REVERT BACK and re - type. I do it a lot and it's driving me crazy! Help please!
    Thank you very much!

I understand that you have found some suggestions on editing the registry - they aren't so bad. If you don't want to download all of the files that allow you to disable the LOCKING of the capital LETTERS, you can create it by yourself:

    1. Press the Windows key + R > type notepad , and then press enter
    2. Paste to Notepad:

      Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
      "Scancode Map" = hex: 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 02, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 3A, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00

    3. File > record under...
      • Select to Save as: all files
      • Enter the file name : disable_caps_lock.reg
      • Click Save
    4. Right-click on the created file > merge
    5. Restart your system

In case you want to turn CAPS LOCK on again, you must remove this registry entry, so you must do the following:

    1. Press the Windows key + R > type regedit and press enter
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
    3. Right click on the Card of Scancode > delete
    4. Restart your system

I guess that it is perhaps the only way to turn off the CAPS LOCK.

In case you still don't want to do this, Windows 7 offers something different to disable the LOCKING of the upper CASE. You can turn the ToggleKeys, then you will hear a beep when you press CAPS LOCK. To do this follow these steps:

    1. Press Start > Control Panel > access > easy access Center > make the keyboard easier to use
    2. Check the box to enable the ToggleKeys

    Hello

Windows 7 does not have a caps lock notification, default on-screen.

The screen caps lock notification comes from the software utility installed by the manufacturer of the computer. You will need to contact them for instructions on disabling this feature.

There is no native parameter.  Is your keyboard led (if she has a) can be used, OR use a third party program if your keyboard does not have cpome with indicator software (probably it didn't it.)

  • How to release the CAPS LOCK with Shift in Windows 8

Older versions such as Windows XP, 7 included an option in the language settings and area extended to release the caps lock with a simple pressure to shift instead of hitting the Caps Lock again.

I can't find this option in Windows 8 and I regularly hit the CL accidentally. :-(

    Hello

This option does not seem to exist anymore.
But there is a method that still does the trick:
    1. Open regedit
    2. Go HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ keyboard layout
    3. In the right pane, modify/add DWORD32 attributes value
    4. Choose the format Hex and enter 10000
    5. Confirm the value, disconnection and it should work!
  • How to detect the Caps Lock without pressing any key

I try to do the login password and would like to add this feature to my site and don't know how to do it.

I wrote the following code to detect the caps lock, but it couldn't detect the cover opening to the top lock.

    if(flash.ui.Keyboard.capsLock){trace("CAP WAS ON")}else{trace("CAP WAS OFF");};

The result of this code is always return "false" unless I put this code in the eventlistener and press the keyboard

You must wait a moment for your step initialize.  Use a delay of 1 ms, or to check caplock.

  • No indicator dedicated the CAPS LOCK key.

They old keyboard, there was a green indication light on the key itself, which is not present on the keyboard. Now, I realize account the new keyboard to affect all similar thinkpads, but I am posting this here is because my Thinkpad Edge (E530) has a digital keypad dedicated, thereby making me use the NumLock much more often

I am aware of the software-sided fix often suggest windows 7: screen resolution > avancΘs > on screen

However, the problem with that is that is that it groups the shift lock and numlock together. What if I want the NumLock to default and not is NOT shown on screen, but still want to be recalled to the screen if I [accidentally] caps lock on?

Is there a solution to this, or is this another problem Lenovo neglected during the upgrade of the keyboard?

    Hi gleipnir,.

The only solution I could offer would be to check online for 3rd party software, I did a quick search on Google for "caps lock indicator software" and found a few programs that offer on the screen recalls. I can't say that works best or even if it is an acceptable solution for you, only that it is the only workaround I can think.

    See you soon!
