No multiple tabs don't Preview in Windows 7 (worked well in 4.0b8)

In Windows 7, it has been possible in Ffx 4.0b8 to see an overview of all the tabs in the windows taskbar and select a tabs in the preview show.
This is useful, for example, just to check if the iGoogle page updates and there is new mail or anything like that.

The taskbar icons resembled several pages when several tabs opens.

Now, in 4.0b9, all that disappears, I see the preview of the real active tabs and not the other tabs. I can't select another tab of the windows task bar. The icon in the taskbar does not resemble several page when multiple tabs are open

You can get it by changing a preference.

  1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Search for browser.taskbar.previews.enable preference and double-click it to change its value to true

  • 'New window' does work well across multiple screens

    OS X 10.11.3 (15 D 21)

I have two monitors connected to my rMBP with Thunderbolt ports.

To facilitate the description, I want hereby the two views under A and b.

Assuming an application (for example, chrome, finder) window was launched in A display. So I want to open another window display B. I right click the icon in the Dock on display B and click on 'new window '.

What I expected, it's a new window opens in view B because I clicked on 'new window' display B, but the reality is a new window always opens in display has.

On the other side, the same operation between different spaces (desktops) has no such situation. New windows are open correctly in places where they are "printing".

Is there a bug in 'new window' between multiple screens?

    Hello is.

I understand that you are wanting to open new windows of applications on the screen that you are working on. It is perhaps because of the way in which several screens are managed. Revisit some information to get this working for you.

When you open a new window of an application, it will open in the active view. Even if you have the dock on the other screen, look at your taskbar to see if it is translucent. If this is the case, then it is not your main screen and your applications will be opened on the main screen. See the image below for what I will speak about reference.

Take a look at the article below for more information on the use of several screens. I know the article refers to the Mavericks, but the information extends to OS X El Capitan as features are concerned.

  • Tabs above the address bar doesn't work well with the QuickLaunch Dock - do I have to return to FF3.6 for tabs on top?

Although there are other minor problems with FF4.0, I guess a lot of people are going to get worked in the future updates (I'm confident Mozilla will be as great as they were in the past with these problems).

The main problem I have (I don't think that will look) is to have the tabs at the top of the window. I have a quick launch Dock that is displayed when the cursor is at the top of the screen for ~1.5 seconds more, and if I hesitate on a tab, it appears and I have to click here to dismiss my QuickLaunch Dock.

Under the address bar tabs were not distracting - the address bar is much more annoying. At least the legs have a description text of the page, rather than a drawn URL...

I don't want to go back to FF3.6, as other changes of FF4 - doesn't bother me, but if the tabs should stay at the top, I'll have to switch to Chrome or Safari.

Right-click on a toolbar, and then click the entry "Tabs" at the top to deselect the it.

  • First tab missing in the second window

I have a multiple tabs open in 2 browser windows. Whenever I left Firefox by choosing File - Exit so the tabs can be opened when Firefox is started.

It works fine on version 9. After the upgrade (since 10.0.1), the first tab in the 2nd window is missing. It can still be opened by selecting groups of tabs, but not visible on the tab bar. In addition, the "Open a new tab" button appear to the left of the tabs instead of the right, which lies between the missing tab and the rest of the tabs.

I have seen these problems myself.

In such a case new tabs I have open appear to the right of the button tab.

This looks like a bug to me.

You can usually fix this by the closure of the (last) with Ctrl + W tab and the restoration of this tab via Ctrl + Shift + T

Hello, by default the firefox session restore feature only allows you to save last 3 windows open. to change this, type on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo. Double-click it and change its value to 4 (or more).

When I shut down windows and firefox works with several tabs, it pops up a dialog box and prevents the closure of windows. Last Friday, I shut the computer down before leaving work and found that it was still on when I went back to work Monday. Reason - Firefox.

  • How can I close Firefox (closed) if properly run two windows with multiple tabs in each and I want to save them all?

How can I close Firefox (closed) if properly run two windows with multiple tabs in each and I want to save them all? I tried to close each window by clicking the X in the top right, and then restart Firefox only loads the last closed window. Is it possible to close Firefox so it restarts with both windows?

Hi osenochen, some additions to the first response:

    • You can display the classic menu temporarily bar by pressing Alt or F10 to access the file menu
    • There is also an icon of 'power' at the bottom of the graphic application menu (the one which is displayed by the button "3-bar" menu) If you prefer
    • If you closed a window and you want to re - open, go to the history menu and see a list of recently closed windows (by default, up to 3 windows closed are stored and can be re-opened - not applicable to windows private)
  • Personas Don't preview or wear. I "authorized them" under the tab dry, I need the range of IP addresses because I used /IpBlock.

Personas Don't preview or wear. I have "authorized" in exceptions getpersonas.com . In my opinion, it will take maybe on a white list through my firewall. I used /IpBlock on Ubuntu 10.10 and I had other problems with other sites before whitelisting them. I need the IP address and the beach.

Are you using the Personas Plus extension?

Have you tried a new profile?

See basic troubleshooting: a new profile

If it takes long (several minutes) to download images of persona to carry a new character, then you won't see unless you hover effect also to wait that long. Personas are not so big to justify such a delay.

  • tabs are moving into new windows when I don't want to do!

Is it possible to disable this feature, because it's really annoying?

Firefox 3.5/6 versions have a feature called tabs.

You can detach a tab in the current window and open in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.

You can drag the tab to the tab bar in the original window to cancel this detachment.

They are all gone, and I have to start over. The only discovery of FAQ Ican ask how to REMOVE several tabs... I want the opposite. Help, please... I don't want to go to Internet Explorer.

    Thank you.

    Amy Klokner

Hi Amy, one or two things immediately come to mind.

First of all, you have Firefox start with your windows and tabs from your previous session value? This article described in dialog boxes can be set only: to restore previous session - configure when Firefox shows your most recent tabs, windows and. (Go to "Configuration session restore")

Note: even if you start on your home page, you should be able to use the restore previous Session in the menu background.

Second, how do you close Firefox? The best way - from the perspective of pick-up where you left off - is to use the exit on the menu (File menu in the classic menu bar, or the compact menu displayed by Firefox orange button). If you close windows individually using the Red Cross, or if you right-click on the taskbar icon and select close all windows, and then when you start, Firefox can display the last window or the last tab that was closed.

To view your troubleshooting information, if that is not displayed in the menu help, you can type or paste Subject: support in the address bar and press ENTER.

Firefox session restore feature is a bit fragile: sometimes updating software will launch a new Firefox window session and if you shut up without restoring your session, poof, your windows and tabs have disappeared. If you rely on session restore, consider using Session Manager extension to allow you to return to its previous sessions: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/

  • When I close FF4 I not give me the ability to save multiple tabs open on my next session

When I upgraded to FF4, I was sad to see one of my favorite features was no longer there. With a mile long bar address and the home button which is almost off the screen. I also noticed that there is no history button next to the front buttons and back why does. I like FF4 but I have about these features I'd seen on.

One of the changes in Firefox 4: by default Firefox 4 does not display the warning "Save tabs and exit" then to the closure of several tabs, but it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    • Record of the tabs was not removed from Firefox 4, but it works a little differently.
    • By default, Firefox 4 will not ask to save tabs, but instead it will always save your tabs on the output unless you're in private browsing mode. You can restore the next time by:
      1. by clicking on the Firefox button > history > "restore previous Session ', or
      2. type of Subject: House in the URL bar and press the Enter key, then press the button "restore previous Session."
    • Note: This was a decision by the developers. On this forum, we are all volunteers without compensation here to help other users. Develop them and employees of Mozilla/Firefox rarely, if ever visit here.

To display the message "save tabs and exit" when closing multiple tabs, you can do the following:

    1. Type of topic: config in the URL/address bar and press the Enter key
    2. Accept the warning message (promise to be careful)
    3. Open the preferences/list page
    4. Filter = browser.tabs.warnOnClose
    5. If its value is set to false, double-click top (in the lower panel) to toggle its value to true
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the 3 following preferences also:
      • browser.warnOnQuit
      • browser.warnOnRestart
      • browser.showQuitWarning
    7. See:

Things to check if the tabs are not saved:

    1. Browsing history must be saved

      • Button Firefox: Firefox button > Options > Options > privacy > [X] Remember my browsing history
      • Menu bar: Tools > Options > privacy > [X] Remember my browsing history
    2. Also, make sure that you do not erase "Browsing history" when you use clear recent history or when Firefox is closed
      • Using clear recent history

        • Button Firefox: Firefox button > history > clear recent history
        • Menu bar: Tools > clear recent history
      • When Firefox is closed
    3. Make sure that you are not in private browsing mode or in private browsing mode permanent:
    4. If you have the Tab Mix Plusextension, and then clear the built-in session restore.
