No option to change the brightness on laptop HP 2000

Hello!

Until yesterday, I had no problem changing the brightness on my laptop.

Last night - I tried pressing the brightness function keys, the bar should go up and down, but brightness has not changed. Then, I went into options power and changed the brightness slider on the plan that I used, no change.

Today - now when I press the function keys, does nothing and the bar does not appear on the screen. When I go into the options of power plan, the slider for brightness is no longer present. When I go into the settings of charms, the brightness option is faded and says "not available: Windows cannot adjust the brightness of the display. Enter the options of mobility, the cursor is present but it does nothing to move vertically.

Things I did so extreme - checked the driver (who had not put to day for a month, since I bought this laptop), uninstalled and let the system reinstall when I rebooted, got a few older versions and manually installed them as a return to the basic display adapter, all to nothing does not. The only thing that works (almost) is the graphical control panel intel. There is a 'brightness' option, but it isn't really light... its more of a relief of the colors used rather than a burst of real light. I downloaded the so-called Hp My Display in the same direction.

Can someone help me? Please, I don't know what the reason even the ability to change the brightness being removed... I have not updated anything manually (until later, I noticed the problem). I am the administrator and the only user of this laptop.

And it is the current driver, that I installed it, which I believe is the most recent. However, I begin to doubt that he is still a driver problem...

Please, I'm getting a headache... Thanks in advance for any help! I'm not super computer savvy, but I'll try all the solutions!

I seem to have (finally) solved the problem.

I had installed Splashtop Streamer of office about two weeks ago... To the people who read this with a similar problem, Splashtop lets you remote access to your desktop from another device (phone, Tablet). I chose Restore my computer just before the hour, it is installed.

I couldn't restore first because windows said-

"System Restore failed, files, and your computer's settings have not changed.
Details;
System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an antivirus program is running on the computer. Temporarily disable your antivirus and restart System Restore.
An unspecified error occurred during the restoration of the system, (0x80070005).

Tried about five times (gad!) before finally being able to restore by (sorry if my instructions are vague) go to control panel - system and safety - administrative tools - services - microsoft software shadow copy provider - right click - properties - change type of automatic manual start - stop and start the service again.

I also uninstalled my antivirus (AVG) because just disable initially did not work. I don't know which of these two solutions have finally made it work, but I'm just happy that I am finally able to change my brightness again. All the options in the charms and the power plan options and my function keys work again.

I guess that changes something Splashtop in the display configuration (logical when I think about it now, but he has not touched me for two weeks, I guess why I did not both together)

  • Computer laptop Sony VAIO on Windows 8 may not change the brightness

I have a Sony VAIO VPCS11X9E and my screen brightness is at the lowest setting for some reason any. In addition, my FN keys for brightness setting do not work. All the means to change the brightness do not work, this does not include the brightness bar when you go into the settings.

I tried both installation driver, checked for any drivers missing or out-of-date drivers, but the only one who seems to be obsolete is my Intel HD graphics that I'VE updated, but the Intel driver update checker says otherwise.
I deactivated AND activated (just in case) the Adaptive brightness, but it doesn't work.
I got Windows 7 Ultimate running before but decided to upgrade to Windows 8. Windows 7 has never had any problems with the brightness. Also when I load upward, even thought I have replaced Windows 7 with Windows 8, it still load the dual boot screen, asking me what OS I want to start with. Starting with Windows 7 goes down several times, then it will take me to repair VAIO system. Windows 8 of course takes me to Windows 8.
When the laptop starts up, the large letters or "VAIO" is bright and normal and sometimes, but not always, when it comes to dual boot screen, the brightness is normal. However, when this happens, as soon as I move the mouse or click on a button, the brightness goes immediately back down to very dim.
When loading upward in another system or startup program, the brightness is fine. For example when I go to Sony VAIO Recovery Center, the brightness is ok. Also, if I boot in something like miniXP or a separate operating system on a bootable floppy or USB, the brightness is fine as well.
I tried many patches of driver, but NONE of them work! I tried to boot in safe mode and try to install some drivers manually because that apparently works, but it makes no difference at all.
If you could help me, even if this does not work, I would be very happy!
    Thank you very much.

I found how to adjust the brightness on my Vaio that uses Windows 8, I went to

    VAIO Control Center
    Image quality
Off the brightness of the display
I hope this helps everyone with this problem.

What is the operating system installed?

For most operating systems, installation HP Quick Launch buttons software will return the feature for special function keys on your portable computer. You should be able to increase and decrease brightness after the installation of this software.

I recently loaded a Windows 7 64-bit OS and there seems to be no option to set the brightness of the screen. I tried in the power option and the f3 f2 keys. I tried a few things mentioned in some forums as uninstaling the monitor, but there seems to be no way of setting it. Am I missing some drivers? I installed the drivers in the link

    It's interesting that nothing works.

These files are from the ac122 support page!

    Try this one...

This package provides the driver that allows graphics Intel high definition (HD) in the notebook models that are running an operating system supported. If the video output high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

    File name: sp72592.exe

If this does not work, try this one...

  • Impossible to change the bright screen on Satellite Pro C50-A-143

I run windows 8.1 and I could not change the brightness of the screen for a while now.

It happened a few months before, but after a random number of days that it worked again, now it is stuck in about 60% bright max, which is not enough when the sun comes through the window.

According to the Toshiba Satellite Pro C50-A-143 datasheet this laptop has been preloaded with Win 7 64 bit and Win additional 8.1 own drive was part of the package.
I assume that you have installed own 8.1 win but have not installed all the drivers Toshiba win 8.1.

    Is this correct?

Visit the page of the Toshiba UE driver, install all the drivers, tools and utilities (graphic card drivers display tool, driver Toshiba system, etc.)
Utility function key Toshiba is very important if it is to use the key function (Fn, F1-10)

Then you should be able to use the function key to decrease and increase the brightness of the display.

  • Satellite P855: cannot change the brightness of the screen under Linux

    Hello, guys... and girls :)...

I bought my PC Toshiba laptop fourth - P855, there windows 7 pre-installed, but I'm a fan of Linux, so I installed Kubuntu 12.04 on it and have the dual boot menu at startup...

And I have a very annoying problem - I can not change the brightness of the screen somehow, so keep it up... for the brightness function keys do not work, and the slider for brightness change anything...
It works on windows, so I guess that's not the hardware problem...

So, can you help me? ... I tried many things, tried different distributions also, but on none of them, I am able to change the brightness. And also - I tried the same distribution on the different laptops, and it works great, even from Live CD, no installation...

I was able to change the brightness on previous phones I had... so why is this one so well done for Windows? ...

    > It works on windows, so I guess that's not the hardware problem.

It's okay is not hardware problem, it looks like a bug in the Linux kernel or driver problem.

Given that Linux is not officially supported on Toshiba laptops, I would recommend checking the support forum for the Linux distribution you use check also system Linux bugs for a possible solution on some linux support pages.

I have a problem with the brightness on my Satellite A200 - 14 d in vista, the default settings have very high brightness and when I change the brightness after a reboot there are default settings... (VGA is GeForce 7300 go)

As far as I know there is nothing strange. The same thing was happening to me. Please select your preferred profile (symmetric for example) and set the LCD brightness to the lower level.

    It works for me.

  • X 1 yoga - cannot change the brightness

I just got my thinkpad yoga X 1 by post a few days ago and he is stuck with a maximum brightness. I tried to change the brightness by using the shortcut keys and controls for brightness in the bar of tasks and settings. The brightness meter will change the percentages, but the brightness of the screen does not change.

I did a factory reset, as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers to display/video and moniter. I did a back roll of these drivers to the generic version as well.

I called tech support and they said it is probably a hardware problem, and I have to send it in for repair, which is frustrating for a new laptop. I could rather Lenovo to send me a new replacement?

In response to the customer reports that the brightness of the screen can be controlled via a key entry on X 1 Yoga ThinkPad, Lenovo has released a fix. The patch is a registry change to restore this function.

The patch can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118463

A permanent fix will be delivered with the Intel driver in a future release.

    Thank you

    Hi telford_boi,

Can you notice other work of Fn keys or just the screen brightness doesn't work more?

In your case I would try reinstalling the package of value added. It controls the FN keys you want to say and all these special functions. You can download it here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Before installing the latest version, delete the old first, please.
