• PERC 6 / I imported foreign configuration is incorrect

  Hi there, we have PowerEdge 2950 with ESX 3.5. Until our problem, we 4x750GB RAID 5 config. Week ago, we found that drive in location 1 is down, as usual remove us it and replaced again, next day there show that is to die. OK, in the PERC BIOS utility, it has been disconnected, next day we started backing up the data of the ESX Server, but during this process storage had disappeared from the ESX Server, after reboot THAT PERC told us that there is no RAID config and he held foreign config. We open the PERC BIOS utility and then import foreign config, but RAID level is now 10 (ie use discs 0,2,3) total storage size is 1.3 TB! We restart the server, ESX is running but with VM storage is missed :(

  My question is, can I delete current VD of the PERC BIOS utility and create new VD with disk HARD 0,2,3 (1 is offline) RAID 5 without initializing it?

  With Raid 5, after offline due to enter a foreign configuration, you should have wiped out foreigners. Now with the table as it is currently, what we need to do to get it back would be to start the Perc BIOS and "Retag" of the table. To do this, we recreate the table as it was configured initially, but less initialization. If you initialize the array after you configure, it would remove the data. So you have to hit F2 on the main page. Select Create VD. From there on, configure the Raid 5 with the same discs. Once you set up, and DO NOT INITIALIZE the array, then you will equip the server. While in offline mode, remove the drive which did not. Once the original failed drive is removed, the power of the server and see if it will boot the operating system normally.  If so, then I suggest to get a complete backup of the data. After that then make sure the Raid Controller is current on firmware and update if necessary. Once it's over, then reinsert the defective drive and see if it rebuilt. If this is not the case, then replace the drive.

• I don't seem to have you show them on your drop-down menus help page. For example, I have no option to import under 'file '.

  your help page refers to the menu option that I don't seem to have. There's no option 'Firefox' on the top menu line or on any menu line. I checked all the option toolbar for the menu drop down. Also, I try to import bookmarks from Safari, but there is no option to 'import' in the menu drop down "file".

  You can find the entry menu import into the Manager of bookmarks (library)

• Could not find the option to import bookmarks into Firefox 7

  I want to import my Internet Explorer Favorites. Firefox Help said that there is an option called "Import" in the menu drop down "file". This command does not appear in my newly installed FF 7.0b2. I also took "Import my favorites" during installation, but it didn't happen. I was already running Internet Explorer v 9

• ESX - Option of expandable virtual disk from VM

  When using converter to import my old Server Virtual Machines VMWare ESX Server, I noticed that the option 'enable to display virtual disk files' seems to be missing. Is it just me or this feature is not available with the virtual machines in ESX 3.5? If so, all the virtual machines in ESX need to have space disk allocated in advance? (I know that the question relates to the converter, but it relates more to ESX).

  Moved to the forum of the Virtual Machine and the guest operating system because this issue is more about VMS ESX itself.

  VMware ESX by default uses a VMDK resetting thickness because it works better and provides better security than any of the other formats. Consider that when you're a disc you will suffer SCSI reservation requests, and these can cause havoc within the virtual infrastructure up to the stop. Granted, it's usually very busy systems, but they should be avoided at all times to increase performance.

  You can use vmkfstools once the VMDK's in ESX to convert other formats as you want, but VMware Converter does not allow it.

• No option to import/export in the contacts folder

  My CONTACTS folder has no Import / Export options display. However if I create a new folder under the folder CONTACTS these options are there in this new folder.

  If I delete the CONTACTS folder, create a new folder and rename - no still no import / export.

  If I right click in an empty space in the right pane of the CONTACTS folder as suggested on the Microsoft site there is no "customize this folder" as I am told to wait.

  It seems that there is only a permit CONTACTS folder and deleted if its properties are lost - but reappear in any regeneration. Weird.

  Any help welcome.

  Problem solved.

  I had a shortcut on my desktop in my contacts folder.

  I deleted the contacts folder and the new subfolder.

  I created a new folder under my user name and renamed him CONTACTS.

  I then consulted the file to the shortcut on the desktop and... LO AND BEHOLD the import / export options are back!

  As I had a recent .csv file I imported which and I'm now a happy chappy.

  Well, you can not remove the space on a hard disk, you can delete the partition, but

  space still exist (raw)... However, in Win7, you can extend the partition

  Good reading, at least, of this section, "How to disable or enable all AutoPlay in Windows 7 and other operating systems" of this document - http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/967715 to see if that would help its. Although the document starts saying its for XP and later for Vista, it then expressly mentions W7 in this section.

  Not sure if this can help, or not - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/161443-autorun-inf-files-completely-block.html (the bit to unblock). I have not tried it myself, just found by a search. Backup your important data (photos, documents, emails, etc.) first JUST to be safe.

  I just started using LR CC and imported from a camera card and my Aperture library before I knew enough to know better.

  SO now I have these stray files in the destination options. Under the Masters folder which is my highest level, I have to 2015 and 2016. They are also on the structure of folders on the hard drive operating system.

  If I remove the HDD LR says that it cannot find the 2016 folder, for example?  But there is nothing in this record, and it does not appear on the list of folders. See below.

  Hi alani,

  Please check if there is no image in the file, you can right click (Ctrl + click) on the folder and delete the folder Panel.

  Like wise you can do this for any folder that is empty and not mandatory.
