    Thank you.

    Okay, so I thought about it and it's ugly and not intuitive.

    The REAL CAUSE of the ROOT of this error is that you CANNOT add a new kid in the Family Safety (FSS) Web site.

    But as a solution, you can add a new kid on the Section of the Windows Phone website My family.

    FIRST STEP remove account the offending child of family on the site of the FSS under the management of the list of the members of the family section. Once this has been completed, follow the workaround below.

    WORKAROUND

    1. Then from the sign of site Web of Windows Phone with your Microsoft Account (MSA) (parent).
    2. Hover over your name just below upper right of the search box and you will get a context box.
    3. In the context box, select My Family.
    4. In the Section My family, you will have two lists. PARENTS and CHILDREN, and especially an ADD A KID to the right of the list headers.
    5. Click on the link. Now, you will get a login screen of the MSA.
    6. Register your child or have them enter login and password. They will appear as a kid under the section of your Windows Phone my family. Even if they do not have a phone you can add.
    7. Ask them to connect in hotmail\outlook.com with their MSA will complete the configuration of security for the family.

    REAL SOLUTION

    There must be a link on the site of the FSS for KID A ADD (add a child would be more enjoyable unless of course you are a family of goats) identical to that of the Windows Phone my family section. Seems like a logical place to have this option?

    I hope this helps anyone else having this problem.

    Hi wimuggss,

    Step 1: Disable UAC (User Account Control) and check the result
    See How can I change the behavior of user account control by using the cursor?
    Note: You must restart your computer when you enable or disable UAC. Change levels of notification does not require that you restart your computer.

    Important: Enable UAC after you complete the steps.

    Step 2: If the problem persists, try to set the parental control in safe mode and check the result. If you are able to apply settings in safe mode, this means that some program is causing this problem, mainly the security software.

    The VirtualMachine object is available through the Extensiondata property. So, you can call the ReconfigVM method on this property.

  • NetBackup for VMS in VCENTER instead of VMs, Questions

    Hello

    We test netbackup to get all the (incremental) days for machines virtual configuration the Vcenter

    but your comments:

    (1) the administrator says it seems slower than the normal backup against for servers prior to conversion, is that correct? is it because vmdk is used here?

    (2) the VMWARE administrator admits it takes each time the same size when the snapshot, which should not be correct, right? and if yes, they will use the same datastore-> may cause problems so complete, that will make complete

    (3) if install us the agent on the virtual machines, which will have backup of disks, which will be a problem if restore us for example?

    (4) I have some vm but ending the backup snapshot is not deleted, I'll check that again today to see, this is a common problem for some hosts? the virtual machine is with brute map features, will exclude us or change something when the backup for this virtual machine? or is not released

    (5) what is the main differences between this way and have agents on the virtual machines? wise management? problem restoring vmdk or? or what exactly

    Please notify

    Thank you

    (1) the administrator says it seems slower than the normal backup against for servers prior to conversion, is that correct? is it because vmdk is used here?

    This could very well be the case, depending on how you made the prior of backups and what type/speed storage you have.

    (2) the VMWARE administrator admits it takes each time the same size when the snapshot, which should not be correct, right? and if so, they will use same datastore-> can cause problems if it is full, which will make full

    A snapshot CAN reach the same size as its parent disk, in order to fill in data warehouses is possible. However, in the time it takes to create a backup, you should not usually see this kind of growth in the Delta. Overprovisioning of data warehouses can be ok, but their follow-up is crucial. VMFS needs free space - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003412

    (3) if install us the agent on the virtual machines, which will have backup of disks, which will be a problem if restore us for example?

    It works exactly the same way as physical servers. There should be no problem here.

    (4) I have some vm but ending the backup snapshot is not deleted, I'll check that again today to see, this is a common problem for some hosts? the virtual machine is with brute map features, will exclude us or change something when the backup for this virtual machine? or is not released

    Photos should be deleted once the backup is complete. It is not uncommon for this sometimes fails. Tools such as the free RVTools reports can be useful to quickly identify these: http://www.robware.net/ Check out http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO70902 for more information on RDM and NetBackup. The client/agent is often useful here.

    (5) what is the main differences between this way and have agents on the virtual machines? wise management? problem restoring vmdk or?  or what exactly

    The biggest difference between the OnDemand and the approach of the policy of VMware is that it gets you files (agent) and the other gets you an image full virtual machine (vmdk) and you can also get the files in some operating systems. Alternatively, you can restore these backup files in many cases CBT/BLIB with VMware political is a great approach you can get images of computer virtual complete with increments

  • Register VMS in vCenter inventory data store

    All of the scripts of the guru out there, Hi

    I am putting together a DR solution for our virtual machines, we currently use the IBM midsize V7000 with Remote Copy to replicate some data warehouses.

    Now I have done some extensive testing and found that, when you make a switch of PROD to the doctor there is a bit of a process to get the running virtual machine.

    1. I have to do a full sweep of the HBAs again. Under storage cards, you can see the assigned as mounted storage devices, however you should always access the storage and go the the Wizard "Add Storage" to readd the data store with the option volume resignaturing. So this part is not painful except it adds a different naming convention in the name of the data store, example a data store named prd_lun100 is named snap-5a18365a-prd_lun100 , so I have to rename the default data store.

    2. I have to go through data warehouses and add each virtual machine in the inventory which is very tedious, and the part very I need to automate.

    I tried that one line, I found here-> http://www.wooditwork.com/2011/08/11/adding-vmx-files-to-vcenter-inventory-with-powercli-gets-even-easier/

    New-VM-VMFilePath"[prd_lun100] SERVER01/SERVER01.vmx"-VMHost"VMHost01.local"

    If possible, I would like to expand on this point, in the following way:

    1 Add the warehouses of data with the correct naming convention, using the identifier for naa to the LUN or LUN ID # to automate, possibly pull this info to a CSV list.

    2. Add a lining above, but a VM list CSV, however add is a DRS rather ESXi Cluster host, if possible priority add virtual machines by a kind of Pavilion of groups in the CSV file.

    3. turn the VMs based on a priority.

    I would really really appreciate if someone can help with this, I know that probably a big ask, but scripting is not my forte and don't know where to start.

    This shouldn't be too difficult.

    Read file names from a CSV file and then checks each VMX file you will find if it is in the list.

    Something like that

    $targetVMX = Import-Csv C:\vmxnames.csv -UseCulture
    $Cluster = "LON_PROD1" $Datastores = "lonservers*" $VMFolder = "LondonAppServers" $ESXHost = Get-Cluster $Cluster | Get-VMHost | select -First 1 foreach($Datastore in Get-Datastore $Datastores) {
       # Set up Search for .VMX Files in Datastore
       $ds = Get-Datastore -Name $Datastore | %{Get-View $_.Id}
       $SearchSpec = New-Object VMware.Vim.HostDatastoreBrowserSearchSpec   $SearchSpec.matchpattern = "*.vmx"   $dsBrowser = Get-View $ds.browser   $DatastorePath = "[" + $ds.Summary.Name + "]"   # Find all .VMX file paths in Datastore, filtering out ones with .snapshot (Useful for NetApp NFS)
       $SearchResult = $dsBrowser.SearchDatastoreSubFolders($DatastorePath, $SearchSpec) | where {$_.FolderPath -notmatch ".snapshot"} | %{$_.FolderPath + ($_.File | select Path).Path}
       #Register all .vmx Files as VMs on the datastore
       foreach($VMXFile in $SearchResult) {
         if($targetVMX -contains $VMXFile){
          New-VM -VMFilePath $VMXFile -VMHost $ESXHost -Location $Folder -RunAsync    }
       }
    }

  • Modify the script to manage multiple VMs in Vcenter or host - IOPS / s IOstats

    Native of:

    http://derek858.blogspot.com/2011/06/PowerCLI-script-to-dump-VM-IO-stats.html

    This script works very well for a VM that is unique to collect iostats, IOPS max...

    I would like a version which will create a CSV file for all the VM on Vcenter server, and I couldn't quite make it work with only 1 output file (and not a bunch of them). Another option would be to each HOST server.

    I think that it will be converted into a function called for each active guest VM.
    Then I would like a way to plan his schedule to start the collection of statistics. I hope WIn 2008 on-demand tasks can do this for me.

    Any help appreciated.

    If you change the line #28 to

    the CSV file contains the data for all virtual machines.

    If you want to limit the virtual machines, you can easily update line #5 to have a selection of virtual machines.

    For example,.

    $vms = get-VMHost-name MyEsx | Get - VM | where {$_.} PowerState - eq "Receptor"}

    will produce a CSV file with only the virtual machines that are running on the server MyEsx and are powered.

  • Need a list of MAC addresses for all VMs in vcenter

    How go on sending a query to vcenter, and he pulled out a text file that contains all the mac addresses for all of my VM and vm name. Any help will be welcome. Thank you

    Hello, RadarG-

    You can do this quickly with something like:

    Get-View -Viewtype VirtualMachine -Property Name, Config.Hardware.Device | `    Select name,        @{n="MAC(s)"; e={($_.Config.Hardware.Device | ?{($_ -is [VMware.Vim.VirtualEthernetCard])} | %{$_.MacAddress}) -join ","}} | `    Export-Csv c:\temp\VMMACsInfo.csv -UseCulture -NoTypeInformation

    "It was essentially my post vNugglets.com" find VM with PowerShell - Fast as NETWORK card MAC address!.  If you are wanting just a list ivnventory of MAC addresses of your virtual machines, will be good.  But, if you are looking for a virtual machine by MAC address, or are perhaps looking for duplicates, there are other easier ways.

    Recently, I did 3 three MAC address of related messages (see to The MAC address of label to vNugglets).  There are to find virtual machines by MAC address, find MAC address duplicated and configuration of the MAC addresses on the VMs.

    Enjoy.

  • To VMS in Vcenter standalone esx

    Hi all

    Can someone please give leurs.02 cents on this issue. I currently have a few VMs that are under Vcenter cluster that I would go to a stand-alone server. This server cannot be managed Vcenter, the server will be on a remote site that will not be connected to the hub where the Vcenter.

    Use imaging tools to take the image or move the virtual machine to the data store?

    You can install and run from the prompt in question and convert propelled him into the machine, 'this local machine' or you can install the standalone client on a remote computer and do it this way as well.

  • Run the Workstation VMS in Vcenter 5

    Hello

    I'm trying to run a virtual machine in workstation, which is nested within the virtual machine created in Vcenter. I try to start the virtual machine, but get the following message is displayed:

    Running on a virtual machine VMware Workstation requires the external virtual machine is configured to run a VMware ESX guest operating system. You can not power on a virtual machine until the external virtual machine is reconfigured.

    I know that you need to configure a file, but I couldn't see all the documents on the Workstation 7 configuration details.

    Any help is really appreciated. (Workstation VM's linux, Vcenter vm windows 2003)

    Kind regards

    Older versions of workstation have a conflict between the of the VMware Tools on the level of comments and libraries of VMware Tools on the level of the host.  Ideally, you do want to run both on the external virtual machine, since it is the guest of the physical machine and a host of nested virtual machines.  With Workstation 7, it was not possible.

    The monitor_control option I suggested earlier will disable VMware Tools comments for external virtual machine level.  However, it seems that you have installed, which will pose problems for VMware Tools at the level of the host.

    You should put off the virtual computer, remove the monitor_control option, turn on the virtual machine, uninstall VMware Tools, power off the virtual computer, add the monitor_control option, turn on the virtual machine and reinstall the workstation.  Then, I think that things should work.

    10 workstation doesn't have these problems.
