No problem for Verizon/Outlook and Windows 8?

We have Verizon fios.  We bought a new computer which has Windows 7 preinstalled, it came with an offer to upgrade to Windows 8 for a discounted price.  The Verizon email has been visualized via MS Outlook and has worked just as well in the sending and receiving until the upgrade to Windows 8.  Now, when applying for a mail through Outlook, it tells me that it cannot find the server - this error pops up to try and send and trying to receive emails.  I looked online and I see the problem is the Verizon uses POP3 and Windows 8 does not work with POP3.  I'm no expert just someone who is very frustrated and on the point of go back to Windows 7.  If anyone has some insight on how to solve this problem - you'll save my mental health and my brain cells.

It is true that the built-in Windows 8 Mail app is not compatible POP3 for now, however, you indicate that you are using Outlook.  What that is the version of Outlook that you are using should have no problem with connecting to a POP3 server.  Windows 8 himself doesn't know or doesn't care about messaging protocols.  It is entirely the e-mail client software that you use.

Since I don't know anything about Verizon (I'm not in North America), I leave it to someone else to suggest details of connection appropriate for your services.

    Hello!

For the life of me I can't figure out how to get my machine to boot successfully. Nothing changes when I choose Safe Mode, last known good Configuration, enable VGA Mode, booting, Directory Services Restore Mode or Debug Mode logging.

It's very stressful, because I'm right smack dab in the Middle a semester at the College. I have most of what I currently need access to supported illuminates... but not quite all :( It is also very reassuring to be able to take care of the school of work away from the library of the University. Yesterday, my computer was working fine... I think that Windows has completed an update, if I can't remember now. As I woke up this morning, I was not able to boot all the way to Windows only once.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6000 running XP Media Center, and I have not installed new hardware since I bought the machine about 3 years ago.

Here are more details, where they can help in the diagnosis of my problem:

    • ID of the system board: 30BB
    • Type of processor: Genuine Intel(r) CPU T2250
    • Processor speed: 1730 MHz
    • Total memory: 1024 MB
    • Video memory up to: 128 MB
    • BIOS version: F.06

Here's the entire message to the blue screen:
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Make sure you have enough disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video cards.

Check with your hardware vendor for updates to the BIOS. Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical information:

    STOP: 0X0000007E (0X805C49B8, 0XF7A172B4, 0 X 80000003, 0XF7A16FB0)
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I also learned to a blue screen that says something about "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". I think that this happens when I try to start safe mode.

Also, I never did much with computer problems beyond what could be repaired with the restoration of the system... so not being is not able to boot at all me has to stop. Please, I beg you! Help me?!

With great appreciation for your time,.

    Quick suggestion

Some HP partition the hard drive. have you tried to type F11 or F12 during startup (before that he go to the option mode start screen)? It might take you for a HP recovery program in that partition (because windows don't be loading not to use that recovery)
    Good luck

    Hi fernandomventura,

Step 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...) Except the keyboard and mouse and then start.

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.  Then get any drivers\software update for the device.

Step 2: Follow the steps mentioned in the articles below which deals with a similar question

  • We can establish a common partition for Mac OS and Windows Boot Camp

I'm new to Mac, so please excuse my ignorance.

I have a MacBookPro 11 mid-2015 with 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM.

I have Mac OS X El Capitan and that you have installed 10 Windows using the Boot Camp utility on a 150 GB partition. I wanted a common partition on exFAT which could serve as a repository for my data either of the OS. My intention - 150 GB for Mac OS - 200 GB of data - 150 GB for Windows 10. How can this be achieved?

Earlier, after the Boot Camp, I reduced the Mac OS to 350 GB partition to 150 GB and released 200 GB. Formatting this turned me expensive because it stopped my Windows to start. Repair it was a waste of time and effort. I draw the hard Windows on a Mac is sensitive to changes in the partition.

In addition, is using Virtual Box better than Boot Camp? I don't have as much virtualized environments.

    Please advice.

You can connect an external drive of ExFat formatted. The OSX and Windows can read/write on a disk formatted ExFat.

A virtual machine has its advantages, as does a Boot Camp facility. A virtual machine allows the simultaneous OS, any necessary initialization to change operating systems. Data can be shared between operating systems more easily. Computer such as memory resources are shared in a VM for applications environment to run slower.

Installation of Boot Camp allows Windows to run in native mode by using all of the system resources, so apps will go faster. But to change operating systems, a reboot is required. It is more difficult to share data.

  • Microsoft Outlook and Windows Mail (Outlook Express)

I think about going to use Windows Mail using Microsoft Outlook.  In addition to the management of contacts and calendar features, you can specify the main advantages of using Outlook on Windows Mail (formerly Outlook Express)?

Right now, I use XP and Vista on two separate computers, but I think to buy the new Windows 7 computer.

    Thank you

Well, you will not be able to use Windows Mail on Win7 without do a hack job, and you cannot use Outlook Express on Win7 except in XP Mode, (Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate only), so the biggest advantage would be the possibility of using the same client messaging on all your machines.

  • is the number of identical series for a mac and windows version

I bought CS6 standard in 2012.  This is the mac and windows version. Is the number of identical series for both?  I started with windows and now have a mac pro.  Adobe does not accept the serial number.  I already have activated 2 computers.  I can't tell if Adobe does not accept the serial number because I reached the max activations or the mac version has a different serial number.  It just says: the serial number is not valid.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

IIRC, they are different - you must contact technical support directly to solve this - we cannot do anything here to questions of activation.
