  The product key on the bottom of your laptop is specific to the OEM of VISTA that came bundled with your noteook version. If you have installed a different operating system, then you must use the product key provided with the operating system that you have installed. It will be normally provided in the CD itself or on the packaging.

  You could not lost the product key because the recovery disk is already activated.
  So you n t need any key to install the OS by using the recovery disk.

  As you can read in other threads here in the forum, the product key on the lower side of your laptop can t be used with other versions of Windows. It is only for Windows preinstalled Toshiba.

  If you install Windows on a Microsoft disc, you must use the product key you got with the Windows disk.

  Hey guys, I recently restored my computer toshiba laptop to factory settings and at the end of the factory restore it takes me to the screen too activate my windows vista. It gives me the option to activate windows now or wait 15 seconds and activate later.   If reinstalling Vista using a Microsoft installation disc you n t need this product key on the underside of the laptop. This key belongs to the preinstalled OEM version and t can be used with a version of Vista that you can buy in a normal store of the computer. This is why you must use the product key that comes with the version of Vista.
  OEM versions are available for manufactured goods.

  If you don t have a Toshiba Recovery disk you can order directly into a new Toshiba. Akuma already post the link to the workshop.

  The product key on the lower side of your laptop belongs to the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba. This key peut t be used with Windows 7 normal disks, because it touches s an OEM. If you install Windows 7 on a normal Microsoft disk, you should use the key supplied with the disc.

  For the original version of OS that you got with your laptop, you don't need key product for activation. Whenever you install original recovery image Windows is automatically activated.

  In the past product key label was placed on the bottom of the laptop. New model do not have it.
  Unfortunately you can not do more. Valid product key is part of the original image recovery only and cannot be used for any other activation.
