No video input for monitor and powerless keyboard - computer has the power

My computer of girls, with the XP system, has the power (power light flashing & the fan) but the monitor receives no video entry and keyboard is dead.  I tried another monitor, but still no video input.  Suggestions for remedy to appreciate.  Thank you, Pat J

You are more than welcome to help.

I don't want to throw another curve ball, but I was working on a computer the other day who had the same symptoms as your daughter. The computer would turn on but nothing on the screen. I replaced the graphics card and still no dice. I don't know what made me do but I removed one of the sticks of ram and bam! The graphics was back. This isn't the way that computers are supposed to work. Either the graphics or the ram of the computer must issue codes beep on startup when a component fails. Beep codes each model represents a different problem. I guess what I mean here is you can try to remove one of the sticks of ram and then start the computer. Repeat for each stick. If you intend to go inside a computer, unplug the power cord to the computer before opening the case to work inside. With his unplugged cable press and hold the button for 10 seconds. Make sure that you do not work in an area with carpet covered floor. Repeat these steps each time that you turn off to check a different key. If the icons still do not appear, you are left to try a new graphics card. The one I linked to is a decent card at a fair price. However, if check you with you parts used computer repair shop (not these geeks of department store) you can find out who sells. Tiny most computer stores sell these items and they are generally tested before being put on sale.
