North America DVD

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with a simple enough question?

I want to buy a DVD on Amazon, but it had the following message: requires a North American or multi-region DVD player and a compatible TV NTSC! I have vista PC with windows Media Center, I'd be able to play this on my PC or I need a patch/download anything?

Thank you in advance x

Hello AmberDuffin,

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum.

Your question really depends on which country you are and where you bought your computer. If you bought your computer in the United States, and the DVD is intended to play on the territory of the United States, chances are that the DVD will play very well.

If you have additional questions on whether or not your computer is going to play this DVD, you may need to contact your manufacturer.

  • Play European DVDs on a computer in North America

    Hello
I am a Canadian who is in Belgium for the study of the year, and as always, I have my trusty in tow. It is a Toshiba Satellite and has no trouble playing DVD in North America, but does not recognize those of Europe. I was wondering if there is there a software that I need to get, or if I have to buy an external DVD drive in order to use my computer to play European DVDs?
I would be happy to advice from someone who knows about it.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Anna,.

    To change the region on your DVD-ROM;

    1. click on MY COMPUTER
    2. right click on your DVD player
    3. click on PROPERTIES
    4. click on the HARDWARE tab.
    5. Select your DVD drive and click PROPERTIES
    6. click on the DVD REGION tab.
    7. Select your current country or manually enter the region you want (region 2).

Like Flo said rightly, you have only a limited number of changes before the selected region is perpetuated.

Hi, I have an iMac 27 "(mfg mid-2010) bought in Singapore." I travel in North America. The computer is still in good condition and want to know if I can take it. For most electronic devices, the different current/voltage in North America that makes them more or less useless, but laptops, for example, have the adaptability between the two parameters of current/voltage. The iMac has this capacity? The food fits North American power?

  • Using the Satellite Pro L550-17U in North America

    Hello

Hope this is the right place. I go to the Canada in a few weeks and I'll bring my laptop with me. My question is how can I know if I need a voltage converter. I asked around a few places and keep getting different answers. I was told that I would need to buy a converter by one person while another said that most laptops have built in converters. Also the frequency in Hertz, there here is different as well. Does that affect anything?

How can I check if I have a built-in converter?

My laptop is a satellite Pro L550-17U.

    Thanks in advance.

As far as I know you don t need this converter. What you probably need is the power adapter. Check on Amazon for your country. There you can order this adapter for the USA or the Canada trip.

  • Can not play my UK DVD on my US bought satellite L875-S7108

Hi, maybe this is a stupid question, but I can't play my UK bought the DVD on my US bought satellite L875-S7108 laptop. The word of user manual in the following "TECHNICAL NOTE: your optical disc drive is called upon to play region 1 (North America) DVD-ROM.» If you play a DVD from another region, the player goes automatically to play in the format of the other region. »

This does not happen, all I get is the following message "the disc is from a different region. Can not read' and that's it.

What can I do so that he can play a different region? Thank you

Problem is that laptops are the products of these countries, and if you want to use it to watch movies there is only one solution for you: buy new ODD in the United Kingdom and exchange it. Maybe it sounds silly, but I think it's the best solution for you.

In general the country code can be changed in the DVD region settings. Open properties IMPAIRES > DVD region tab > click on United Kingdom and confirm with OK.
That's one thing, you can do if you want to change the region code.

  • Travel in America of the North-help purchase iPhone 7 Australian

    Hello

I happens in Vancouver in a few days and roamed in Banff, Jasper and probably Calgary, then probably South in parts of the North of the United States, possibly including Montana and Oregon before returning to Vancouver.

In addition to beautiful landscapes, I'm hoping to pick up an iPhone 7along the way, as it will be much cheaper than the House, especially if I can minimize or even avoid any sales tax. I'm not very anxious to get and obviously it is not a value to travel through several States to save a few dollars in tax, but if one of the points on my route will be significantly cheaper than others, so I would like to take advantage of this.

    So, a few questions:

    1. as far as I know, no iPhones purchased in an Apple store in the United States or the Canada work at home in Australia with my SIM House? That is to say that they are not locked or have any other question bother me?

    2. my understanding is that places likely to be on my itinerary, Oregon and Montana have the sales tax down it is to say 0%. I'm more likely to go to Montana as Oregon, but apparently there is no Apple store in Montana? What would be good stores of spare for your purchase of an iPhone unlocked without any subscription network etc in Montana?

    3. as I do a bit of travel, I think to make one of the CDMA models capable, just to have that little bit more flexibility. However, I am currently using a t-mobile sim in my Australian bought iPhone while traveling in North America. It will cause additional problems if I try to use the sim card from t-mobile in the new cdma phone, either while here, and when I come back home? Certain passages on the apple site concerns me... in particular, the ILO "Once unlocked. "Sprint and Verizon Wireless.

If Sprint or Verizon Wireless is your mobile phone provider, your iPhone will work on AT & T and T-Mobile once unlocked.  An iPhone activated on Sprint or Verizon Wireless also has the ability to travel internationally on GSM networks. »

    Thanks for tips or tricks

    Phil

The only difference between the models 'CDMA' and all the rest is that CDMA parts have been active and registered with a particular carrier which still has a legacy CDMA network. In the United States, is Sprint and Verizon. Those phones work on LTE and GSM networks as well.  Phones for sale of various carriers may also have different bands LTE. Phones for sale on the Verizon network are unlocked.

However, it is particularly unwise to buy a phone outside your country of residence. The warranty on a phone bought in the United States would be valid only in the United States expected your phone needs maintenance, you would need to return to the United States or to ship the phone to a friend or relative who can fit in an Apple Store.
