Norton firewall and windows defender runs does not on

Hello, I just bought a desktop computer with windows 8, I get a solve Pc issues pop up in the task bar saying windows defender is turned off and my Norton is off, but when I check nortons everything works fine and it is said, I'm sure, but I can not turn windows defender on or Firewall Norton via the Action Center , has disabled Norton my Defender a just cause of a conflict or should I not worry and just deal with the pop up through the Action Center

Hello Dakks007,

Generally, the Norton Security software will automatically turn off Windows Defender. You don't want two different security programs, performing the same job running on a PC at the same time, which can leave your PC less secure.

    Hello

Yes you still need an antivirus program and you are right that Norton tends to cause problems.

    Norton Removal Tool
    http://Service1.Symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

You want to remove Norton and old and even uninstalled antivirus can leave remnants then download and run
the Norton Removal Tool. Also, I would get Avast and Prevx and you should be in good shape.

Download the 3 to get back to after removing the McAfee antivirus.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT after each.

    --------------------------------------------------------

    Here is what I use:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

    Windows Defender

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.
    http://www.prevx.com/

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

An Antivirus is a fundamental need for security to prevent malware being installed.

Malware to disable your firewall and your safety programs.

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.

  • Problems Windows Security Center, firewall, and Windows Defender.

This problem started about a month in December when I had Windows Vista Home Security 2011 Virus. I followed the steps described in the Guide here:

While trying to fix this, I realized the Microsoft Security Center and firewall have been disabled. I could not turn them back on. In Services, I neither Security Center or a firewall, and all of the other solutions I tried did not work. Help?

In addition, after checking, the registry values for the Security Center and Windows Defender firewall disappeared. Help please? All the Fixit on the Microsoft Support site failed.

  • White screen of McAfee and Windows 8 apps does not

    Hello

I had problems with a variety of applications of Windows 8 does not properly. For example, shows weather tile up to fine as a tile, but then when I click it there just has the rotating balls (replacement of the hourglass) and does nothing. Same for the store Windows, rotation of the balls and nothing else. Skype also does not work.

Not sure if it is related to the McAfee internet security suite, because all I get when I load which is a white window.

It is on an AO756 an Aspire bought end of 2012, and whose serial number is incredibly not recognized by the Acer support site (I posted about this yesterday, but heard nothing back).

Not impressed with Windows 8 or Acer at this stage.

I ended up buying a new McAfee product, like Security Suite Internet which has been preloaded on my netbook has been exceeded. The installation was not easy and I had to contact McAfee support. I ended up having to 1) remove and reinstall Java, 2) remove all McAfee software and 3) reinstall McAfee.

Who eventually solve all the issues I had with McAfee and Windows 8.

I'm always interested in hearing, why the serial number of my netbook is not recognized by the Acer support.

  • Windows Defender problem - does not open

    Dear Experts,

Recently, I bought my computer with Windows Vista installed. It worked perfectly, but two days when I installed Microsoft Home Premium, McAfee licenced and registered all products including Windows online, I noticed that Windows Defender could not open by asking the following:

«Failed to initialize: 0x800106ba.» A problem caused this program service stop. To start the service, restart your computer or search help and Support to find out how to start a service manually. »

Please note that neither restarts nor search help has helped me solve this problem, whenever I turn on the laptop the session begins with the above given the message.

Could you please provide me with the instruction on what I should do to fix this persistant problem with Windows Defender.

Thank you very much in advance,

  • Explorer Windows and Windows Live Mail does not.

If I try to create a new folder, Windows Explorer stops responding. In other words, when I create a new folder and name it, after farm the naming dialog box, Windows Explorer stops to answer and the name of the folder has not changed (it is still new folder). If I use the task manager at the end of the Windows Explorer, to the revival, the new directory name. A second problem is that Widows Live Mail has also become insensitive, since its launch. I went back to two restore points, but no help. This happened when I tried to download an update of map on Garmin website (may be a coincidence). Delete all files takes a long time. For awhile, the dialog box indicating that the substance was sent to the trash was insensitive, but I have not seen that for a day or two. With assistance from a restore point will not work in normal windows, but it seemed to work in Mode without failure.

    What really was the problem:

    Mick,

Because you offered advice so quickly, I tried you can see how I solved my problem. I did all that you suggested, but nothing helped. However:

I've done some thinking on this windows live mail and the creation of a new directory have in common. The answer I came up with that was indexing. I tried to change the "indexing options" but this dialogue has also been insensitive. So I went to administration-> Services tools and attempted to stop "looking for a window. It would not stop. I disabled it and its entries to try again and restarted. I have Windows Explorer back and will then attempt my email.

OK, this has solved the symptom, but does not solve the problem (I don't have work indexing).

    Thanks for your help,

    Mark

  • HP Envy 23: Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11 abgn 2 x 2 Wi - Fi and Windows 10 adapter does not

I did an upgrade on my HP Envy 23 Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Needless to say I had to "downgrade" to Windows 8.1. Once I upgraded, neither my ethernet or my wifi adapters were present. I tried all the drivers that HP was available on their website to support but I had no success. HP? I mean where these drivers even tested in an environment Windows 10 because they DO NOT WORK. What we are supposed to do?

I found a solution. I don't have any ideal why it exist problem or why it worked but it did. This site will explain everything.

I did method 4. So my problem probably wasn't with the material, but with the operating system itself because the devices stated that they are working properly in Device Manager. I just don't see the network connections.
