  You should check your setup of the keybord layout so it has not changed mapping.
  One thing is to write the password in a notebook to see that it is correct.

  There is no universal way to reset the administrator password.

  Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

  If you contact HP Business support, they may be able to file a custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

  Insert a clean USB flash drive.

  Then run USB Image tool.

  Choose the flash drive, and then click RESTORE.

  Remove the flash drive after the restore.

  Insert a locked portable flash drive and boot. "" If the HARD drive is installed, remove before starting.

  At C:\OUTPUT, type CD...   "And then press ENTER.

  HPBR of type "and then press ENTER.

  First thing is to save your settings.

  Select 3 # re-program.

  Press "S" to save the system information.

  Type HPBR and press ENTER.

  Select 'of FIRST BROADCAST.

  Then select the model.

  After the restart to repeat, same as above but this time SELECT 'SECOND RUN.

  Thanks for your reply and suggestion.

  In the meantime I found and 'old' Acronis Image from January 2013.  I installed it and now my HP Elitebook 8560p is 100% operational.  I have reset the BIOS administrator password, and all the configuration options are now open for me.
