'not on the local disk file' warning when it is absolutely

Use DreamweaverCC2014 for the first time. Work on a MacPro running old Yosemite.

I define a new site, specifying the directory in which the files of my site are stored. The site has a single page named index.htm, in the root directory, which has a link to a CSS style sheet named 'main.css' in a directory named "_css". The CSS file is contained in the directory and will appear in the Dreamweaver files as expected tab. The link to the style sheet is properly trained on the index.htm page.

In the top left of the workspace, I see two buttons: one for 'Source Code', which, when selected, displays the source code of the page, I'm working. Next to it is a button that says 'main.css', which is EXPECTED to open up the CSS page and change it. However, when I click on this button, I get an icon of the caveat, as well as the message that says:

"'main.css' is not on the local drive."

Next to this is a link that says 'Get', which I suppose, when clicked, would allow me to find and recreate a link to the style sheet. However, such is not the case. Instead, I get a warning window that says:

"' main.css isn't in a defined site.

When I look at the page in Live View mode, the style sheet appears not, rather just the sheet without style. Looking at it in a browser, however, don't.

The code is correct; I checked one re-checked it. The files are all in place and appear as expected in the files Panel. Any thoughts on why Dreamweaver think this CSS file does not exist?

As this question decreased my confidence in using the software for a project of criticism, I contacted Adobe technical support for assistance.

It is a known problem.

The problem has to do with DW 'confused' if there is another file in the disc root of site that may have the same name. In my case, there was (I tend to name the CSS files for my sites with terribly generic 'main' designation). The representative suggested that I create a completely new site root, which put my file structure and see if the problem resolves. I did two things:

First, I installed a brand new installation of DWCC2014 on my MacPro laptop. Existing site no file any on this machine. Then, I created a new site, using a copy of the files in my original troublesome site structure. Except that it's on a machine that has no other sites or files, I repeat the test using the exact same files and the structure of folders. When I click on the button Source Code, I see the HTML source code. And when I click the CSS button CSS file displayed as expected!

Next experience... back to my MacPro desktop. I copy the site files on a hard drive that is completely different from the one I used in my failed attempt earlier to make it work. Once again, even the files and structure, only difference is the different physical location of files on a hard drive. The HTML source code is displayed, and when the user clicks the button, CSS, CSS page also displayed as expected. Problem solved!

So, I hope that my experience (and the solution) are useful in case others run into the same issue. Yet once, it is a problem known to Adobe, so chances are good, one of you will have this problem. The solution is to place your files into a whole new site root out any who might have similar file names, not to "confuse" DW.

  • Problems downloading a file of muse for the first time. Museutils.js is not on the local disk on the file index.html.

    Hi all

I hope someone can help because I'm a little desperate.

I started to design a page with a muse of Qooqee model: SENSE.

I worked for a month on this issue. When I was about to finish, I got a message that there is a new version of Muse to update. I did the update when I was still working in the design.

When I finished the desktop version, I downloaded using the "upload to the ftp host" button. All fine until he has gave a "error on the index.html file.

So, I was unable to complete the first uploaded to the online page.

My husband, who knows a bit about coding, opened the index.html file, and we have seen a warning: MUSEUTILS. JS IS NOT ON THE LOCAL DISK.

Reading questions similar to the forum that I can guess that the problem has been built with I started with the earlier version of the Muse and updated the Muse version in the workplace, when I finished the page.

Now, the page is not alive because I am not able to download the file.

I don't know if that's the problem, however. I downloaded a fresh sense of QooQee model and erase all content and pages name I will use them (he has added a few pages and I moved the contact page somewhere else on the site map). Then, publish the page Go Daddy and have the same problem. Error on the index.html file. For that I am lost again, because everything has been done with the same version of Muse and the latest model of sense (I don't know how they update the models).Screen Shot 2016-02-18 at 12.12.01 PM.png

Can you please give an idea on how to solve the problem? What I have to redo the entire page?

Thanks in advance, you are my last hope.

Good to see that we can exclude a Muse for the functioning and the collection of production. The problem must lie in the specifics and/or requirements of GoDaddy, hosting provider. The Muse team is very aware of being a very popular hosting provider GoDaddy , so they want to learn all the occasional problems or quirks that might appear with Muse in combination with these suppliers. It might have to do with the current version of Muse, but it could also be a coincidence that GoDaddy has begun to change some things on their side as well. Or it could even be a Gremlin (colloquial term for a software bug temporary and inexplicable) blocking a circuit which seems to happen from time to time...

Are you sure that you follow all the advice and guidelines in this FAQ: download an Adobe Muse of the site to a third-party hosting service ?

  • I just installed DW 13.2.  Linked files (all CSS, scripts...) "are not on the local disk" - all works in CS6. Help..?

I just installed DW 13.2.  Linked files (all CSS, scripts...) "are not on the local disk" - all works in CS6. Help...

When I insert one of the page of the Web site, it shows in the design window.  But when I try to bring any document linked in the left window, code, it is empty and the message says: "whatever.css is not on the local drive.  Also, when I click on LIVE, the file looks like she does not see the file CSS, no images.

The same site looks and works OK in the DW CS6.

    I'm on Maverick - 2012 Mac Pro - 2 x 2.66 12-core, 64 GB of RAM.

I configured the same way as CS6 preferences.  Same location of the site, same links.

Am I missing something?  What should I do?  I uninstalled the DW CC, cleaned pref and installed it again.  Same question.

    Help, please.

I think, I solved the problem, but I still think that the Dreamweaver does not recognize the addresses.

I then drive CC_A BB_A Web sites (these are the actual names of the readers).  It's always the disk 'data', apart from the OS, but with a different name.  everything works.  Opening files referred to in the script window, 'live' works as supposed.

I can only speculate that readers 'CC_A' name has confused the program called CC.

I can find no other explanation, since, in addition to the name of the drive - everything else is the same.

    Thanks for trying to help.

  • DW CC - files associated with "not on the Local disk.

In Dreamweaver CM³, the files associated with, shown as tabs at the top of the currently opened file, now do not open their content in the file. So by clicking for example header.php would have brought the content to header.php, now a message pops up saying 'header.php is not on the local drive. Opening in the list of files shows the contents of the file perfectly. It started to fail today. The same file still open from the tab correctly CS6 for something in the CC is the cause of the problem. All the site files are on an external drive connected to a Mac BookPro and they have been for years without any problem. Any ideas why this problem started?

In fact, Jean Fritz II hit the answer.

There was a double file/directory of Macintosh HD under the main Macintosh HD and another Dreamweaver folder in there. Once I've trashed those, he started to work perfectly!

    Hello

looking for your source code, I see this:

    file:///C|/users/public/documents/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.CSS"rel ="stylesheet ".

This means that your DW 'think' your *.css and *.js your are on your hard drive. You must remove the wrong way for example:

You should see if you accidentally duplicated your Macintosh HD folder within itself.

I'm not a Mac guy more, but you should be able to double-click Macintosh HD on your desktop and see if you have a folder Macintosh HD in there. If you do, you have 2 copies of the root of your local, inside this double and normal Macintosh HD. You should be able to make a link to that of correctness with DW, or if he has moved to the duplicate folder, you could drag on the local root out Macintosh HD > Macintosh HD on your desktop and connect it.

Chances are you've duplicated accidentally a ton if info if this folder exist in itself.

  • Cannot find the locale data files. Please reinstall

I had a problem with Google Chrome, so I uninstalled via the control panel. I then reinstalled and I have this problem. I always present in my programs in the watched folder, but when I select to demolished, he said ' wait until the current program has finished install or changing.» I have no other program install or change. If I try to open Google, anywhere Progams, taskbar, all programs or directly from the .exe LocalApps it gives me the "could not find the locale data files. Please reinstall.

I found the answer to my question. It seems that you can build processes, I don't understand why. For example I had a problem with my windows Explorer crashing. I disabled all the startup process of msconfig.

In my view, there must be something in there that closes a completed process.
Then I had, unknown to me, when I posted this problem, six or seven cases Google chrome showing the the Task Manager process tab. When I quit all instances of Google, I was able to finish the removal process and re - install Google Chrome.
I just checked right now and I have six Google shown 3 rundll32.exe and two taskeng.exe bodies. I've never seen no more than one instance of anything in this tab before today.
Disabling all startup stuff does not solve my problem to explore some way so I'll allow them once again.
Thank you for helping me and I hope that someone can get useful information from my travels.

  • Why not place the Oracle data files on local disks

Hi, I want to ask a fundamental question.

Almost any Oracle installation I've seen, data files have been placed on Mount points, disk etc..

Is there a reason for this? Why no one does place for local disks oracle data files? I couldn't find the answer on the installation guide

I ask this because I will install oracle (10g) on vmware and trying to decide whether to put data on the vmdk (virtual computer local disk) files...
Is - this recommended? If not, why it is recommended to put data files to a disc of fixation for point/external etc..

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

People store data files on separate disks
    (1) bettter performance
    (2) the data can be in a centralized storage
    (3) if the OS crashes always files are safe
    (4) configurable with raid options
    (5) hot Swapping
    (6) easily can add additional storage

  • files appear in Dreamweaver, but not in the local folder

I have set up and set my site... I listed paintingfrance as my local folder where I would like my stored files. So when I opened Dreamweaver, I see all the files on the local folder... tab but when I go to my hard drive and look under the Files\paintingfrance program, the folder is empty. I can edit the files in Dreamweaver and download them - that everything works well, but it's a mystery why they are not in the local folder on my computer.

You have probably two folders named paintingfrance on your computer.

Do a search for files with the same name and when you have found the site folder, delete the empty folder in Program files.

The Program folder files is where the programs install themselves, should not be used to store documents.

    Hi Nick,

We had a few reports of this problem with the media as well.  You can try these workaround solutions and let us know how it goes?

    1. Make sure that you do not have other installers at the same time (see the "msiexec.exe" Task Manager)
    2. Make sure you have enough free hard disk space
    3. Restart your computer (installers are sometimes tricky if the installer from some other app ran earlier but is still saving a few tasks until the next reboot).
    4. Run the installer as admin, as follows:
      1. Click with the right button on the "Command Prompt" application and choose Run as administrator
      2. Use cd to navigate to the folder where you downloaded the .msi installation file
      3. Run the following: msiexec /i «2.msi Adobe Edge Code Preview»

  • Remove temporary files from the local disk c/documents and settings/user/localsettings/temp name

Remove temporary files from the local disk c/documents and settings/user/localsettings/temp name

By definition, this folder should contain only the elements you don't need.  If I understand correctly, this temporary folder is a place where temporary files are stored during program facilities and the facilities.  However, I have seen references other sites to help saying some programs can store folders and files.

I do my own temporary file elsewhere, name it accordingly and move all the files in the temp folder to the new folder. Use your computer normally for a while, and if nothing complains about missing files, you have a good indication that none of the moved files are important and should be safe to delete.
