Notification of Update ActiveX Flash (21), MMS.cfg, etc..

Hello, we have always deployed the MSI for PPAPI and NPAPI as a MMS.cfg file delete update notifications, etc. We're heading Windows 10 and now I see that there really PPAPI or NPAPI package as we don't do not deploy Firefox and Chrome auto-updates to date of its instance of Flash. We simply apply the latest version of ActiveX via WIndows Update and maintain with SCCM 2012 via the software update collection.

I need to know if there is still no reason to continue to use our MMS.cfg file to delete notifications of updated for Flash (> 21) ActiveX, or if the application is no longer warns of updates, or if there was another change to this feature. Thank you!

Hello

If you're upgrading to Windows 10 and you plan not to use IE or edge there is no need to use the mms.cfg file as all updates Flash Player for IE/Edge will be distributed by Microsoft via Windows Update.

If you do use browser that supports plugins NPAPI or PPAPI (for example Firefox, Opera), then you will need to continue deploying these plugins, and use the mms.cfg file to remove the update notification.

    Looking for a way of automatic notification by which we can be invited for pending releases update of Flash Player so we can pack the new version for the distribution of our advanced users.

    It's actually pretty easy, and we provide offers pre-packaged of ActiveX and NPAPI versions of Flash Player ready for distribution through AD, SCUP, KCP, etc

    We also provide an Extended Support Release, which is still patched with security and updates published in parallel with our generally available release, but the goal is to isolate the organizations against the risks associated with the development of new functionality, while keeping the security update.  For organizations that have requirements strict tests of updates of product feature-bearing, it's our way to provide the pain relief as the cadences of browser version and the security landscape have required much faster for Flash.

    Let's all start, you must apply a Flash Player distribution agreement.  It's free.  The license for download is not technically grant you permission to repackage and redistribute the player, so you don't get access to all of the prepared packages and view.

    We expect changes in the distribution of the House to increase the number of applications coming, so if you are redistributing current Flash Player within your organization now and that you do not have a distribution agreement, take a few minutes to fill out a new agreement until we have absolutely overwhelmed with new applications and our processing time takes a hit.

    Adobe Flash Player Distribution. Adobe

    Once you have been approved, that could be fast enough, I hope, you will have access to our distribution portal, and I think that you will get automatic notifications by virtue of being on the distribution list.

    Probably, you should also register for the Notification Service security Adobe, just so that you do not know to be notified of critical updates to any of our products that may be on your network:

    Here is the guide of the system administrator for Flash Player, who probably has something that you will find useful:

    Flash releases player on a monthly rate, aligned with Microsoft Patch Tuesday and more occasional releases out of a cycle, when we need to deal with critical security issues.

    Flash Player also includes automatic update service, which we strongly recommend that you take advantage, especially if you are already very busy.  If you are updated on an ad hoc basis, you let your users exposed to threats that we have already alleviated.  Given the level of sophistication, that we see with organized crime and State sponsored piracy, no time to do a binary diff to a new version and debone patches to use them against older versions.

    While we work closely with our partners in the research and security communities, and the vast majority of these updates are the results of the questions which are discovered and disclosed in a responsible manner, it is important to keep your customers put far, especially when we are issuing out of remedial program when an active fault has been identified in the field.

    Anyway, I think that the above resources will keep you abreast of everything that is essential and give you access to all the tools necessary to distribute Flash Player inside your organization, while minimizing the associated work.

    Good luck!

  • Automatic update of Flash 18 via mms.cfg?

    We initially deployed Flash 16 clients via GPO and configured the mms.cfg as

    SilentAutoUpdateEnable = 1

    AutoUpdateDisable = 0

    Flash has been updated very well throughout the minor versions of 16 and even updated to 17 without any problem.  However, Flash is not updated to version 18.  Since this is a major release we get Flash 18 msi?  We received the 17.0.0.190 update the other day, but none of the customers don't update at 18.

    Recently, I noticed this line in the FlashInstall.log file on our customers.    2015-6-30 + 1-26-0, 96 1221 1115 [error]

    Why not just add script, then push the script?

    It is not difficult to the bat to download, clean/uninstall and install new msi files directly generate scripts.

    Its very simple to get out.

  • MMS.cfg and Flash Player 11.2.202.228

    If someone knows why Flash Player 11.2.202.228 do not grey on 'Change update settings' and 'Check now' button in the Flash Player Settings Manager 'AutoUpdateDisable = 1'?  Radio three buttons are dimmed and the "never check for updates is selected.

    We use the SP1 of Win7 x 64 with IE8 x 32 (x 64 is there also).

    I'm moving from 11.1.102.63 to 11.2.202.228.

    I use the msi installer. (I am an admin first installation.  "I have a transformation that puts the file mms.cfg in place.)

    With installed 11.1, the buttons are grayed out.  When I update to 11.2.202.228, they are not.

    All I have in the mms.cfg file is 'AutoUpdateDisable = 1'

    When I take it on the radio three buttions are grayed out, but the setting is "notify me when updates are available. So it seems that it is reading.

    And, below the correct settings to turn off all updates and background updates?

    AutoUpdateDisable = 1

    How can I receive notifications new available update of flash?

    If you can, just activate the automatic updates (or use Chrome on any operating system, or IE/Edge on Win10) and forget about it.  It's really the fastest and most reliable way to get an update, and it is easier.

    If this isn't an option, Adobe security notification service will send you the information about the updates that are available on all of our products by e-mail:

  • Silent automatic update of flash player does not

    I was happy to read the news on the new Adobe Flash player silent auto update feature, but unfortunately this does not work on my machine. All the world had the same problems and was able to resolve?

    Some information about my setup:

    I had already installed Flash player, version 11.1.102.63, ActiveX version and plugins (installed in the .msi files, deployed through Active Directory/GPO - no additional configuration, simply .msi original files).

    To test the automatic update feature, I decided to install the 11.2.202.228 new version, but only the ActiveX version. I installed this via the installer .exe (install_flash_player_11_active_x_32bit.exe) manually, choose ' Install updates automatically when they are available (recommended) "in the last step of the installation, as shown here:

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/background-Updater-Windows.html

    When I open Control Panel-> Flash Player, on the 'Advanced' tab I see:

    • "Install updates automatically" is selected but grayed out (without right to admin with this windows user)
    • ActiveX version: 11.2.202.228
    • Plugin version: 11.1.102.63

    The "mms.cfg" under C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\ file contains:

    AutoUpdateDisable = 0

    SilentAutoUpdateEnable = 1

    The task of "Adobe Flash Player Updater" has been created and is scheduled to run every hour. I see that it is started ('last start time'), the result code is 0x0, which means "no error".

    So, just as expected. But the automatic update does not work, since the flash player plugin version is never updated!

    I edited the "mms.cfg" and added:

    SilentAutoUpdateVerboseLogging = 1

    After manually from the task, there are a few lines added to "FlashInstall.log" in the same directory:

  • How to allow remote option of automatic update for Flash on Windows 7

    On the 2/3 of our society is currently auto-updated to Flash Player successfully.  It seems that the rest of the installation of the Flash system are configured to notify when updates are available, and users are not updated.  Where the parameter is stored on a Workstation Windows 7 from Adobe allow to install updates?  Is it possible to configure it remotely (i.e. a setting or config registry file that can be copied to the workstation)?   I was not able to find what is change to the workstation when the Control Panel Update option is changed in the Flash Player applet.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi CapSpecMike,

    This is configured in the mms.cfg file.  The Flash Player Admin Guide contains information on this subject.

  • Not fully functional MMS.cfg

    Hey there!

    I created a mms.cfg file and it works for most of the machines. I have an environment with 3300 machines and all but 400 seem to work.

    I can see the file mms.cfg on machines (deployed via GP), but Adobe Flash is still not updated.

    Is this what can I do to troubleshoot the reason for which is choosing to not work on some machines? These machines all run Windows 7 anywhere Adobe Flash Version 10 to 18 (not the last 18).

    I've attached an example below.

    It's the files under 'System32\Macromed\Flash ':

    SNAG-0000.png

    Here's the mms.cfg file:

    SNAG-0001.png

    Hello

    Yes, the background updates rely on a task (Adobe Flash Player Updater) and Service (Adobe Flash Player Update Service) for the background update run and check for an update.  The task checks to see if it's time to check for an update, if it is not, he falls asleep.  It is time to check for an update, she calls the Service to check an update.  If one of them is missing, then updates background won't work.

    The task and Service are installed when Flash Player is installed and the user selects either "Allow Adobe to install updates" or "Notify me of updates" (Installer Exe). The MSI installer always creates the task and Serivce because it is not prompt the user to select an update option.  Note that, even though the MSI creates the task and the Service, it does not accept the user in the background updates.  The user must do this afterwards, either via the Flash Player settings manager in the Panel control, either by editing the file mms.cfg.

    Manager settings of Flash Player which contains a number of parameters, which is updated option.  If a user has disabled updates via the settings manager then it will delete the task and the Service of the system.  To re-create the updates must be activated through the same Flash Player Settings Manager.  Is it possible that someone has disabled updates via the settings on the affected machines Manager?

  • Management of the automatic updates for Flash Player 11

    Hello

    I know that the latest version 10 the mms.cfg file is always valid option to customize the behavior of automatic updates (even if the new applet of the control panel dedicated option is not grayed out, day is blocked anyway, I read).

    Is it the same with version 11? I just installed it with the same file mms.cfg that I used for 10 and still the Panel applet is not grey...

    Thank you

    Hi all

    This problem has been fixed in version 11.1.102.55.

    The section "Updates" of Control Panel, the Advanced tab, will be disabled (grayed out) when 'AutoUpdateDisable = 1' (without the quotes) is present in the mms.cfg file.

    If you have a 32 bit OS, save the mms.cfg file in \Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

    If you have a 64-bit OS, save the mms.cfg file in \Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

  • MMS.cfg [unsolved] not recognizing AVHardwareEnabledDomain

    Information and Versions

    Windows 7 SP1

    Firefox 19.0.2.0

    Flash Player 11.8.800.168

    Problem

    We have a SharePoint page that has a link to open the webcam and attach a photo. We want that all users of this device, current and future profiles, allowing access to the webcam automatically without being asked to allow. I tried to add the domain, URL for the page specifically and ip to mms.cfg in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\flash using the following, but it doesn't seem to be effective:

    AVHardwareEnabledDomain = [field, site or IP here]

    I tried to re - create my Windows profile, disable McAfee and Bit9 before editing the file and reinstalling Flash Player but the problem persists.

    Unfortunately, I don't think that this approach is going to work out for what you're trying to accomplish.

    AVHardwareDisable is intended for system administrators who want to disable the access of microphone/camera completely in sensitie environments where listening is a concern.

    AVHardwareEnabledDomain only works if AVHardwareDisable is true, and a mechanism to explicitly whitelisting a or several areas for what camera/microphone access should be allowed, as software society conference.

    As far we can tell, the original intent is do not delete user dialog box.  We, for example, would not allow employers to monitor employees via their webcam without their consent. We * would * want them to be able to block malicious ads to invite the user their users for access to the camera/mic, while allowing their access to services of society conference.

    More importantly, when we talk about browsers with modern plugin sandboxes, as Edge or Google Chrome, the browser intercepts requests for camera and microphone and presents a native permissions dialog box, who does not know the mms.cfg settings.  Displacement of the permissions to the native dialog boxes ensures that to constantly behave with HTML5/WebRTC features and largely solves the problem of clickjacking (it is easier to follow what is actually visible to the end user from the point of view of the browser compared to the display of an element in a browser page).

    As a long-term strategy, I don't see this being viable in the major browsers.  This really looks like a job for a native application.

  • MacKeeper attached to the update of Flash Player?

    I recently downloaded the update for Adobe Flash Player free. When I unzipped the file, I was encouraged to install MacKeeper, a program that I hate! Despite my request is not for her, and even without asking me to install it, I was shocked to see that it has been installed! I searched the internet for instructions on how to uninstall (it wee several!) I did it after a long procedure requiring almost 20 deleted files! I was very careful to follow the instructions, but now I can't find my photo library! Adobe is aware of this intrusion by the jolts which make MacKeeper? I don't know how that could have been attached to download without knowledge of Adobe. Looking forward to hear from someone because I'm not afraid to install the file, I have Adobe and, quite frankly, hesitant to ever upgrade Flash Player again even if that means I never use again.

    I hate MacKeeper!

    Hello

    I'm sorry that you have downloaded a malicious Flash Player installation program that has installed the software MacKeeper questionable.  Adobe does NOT bundle MacKeeper with the installer of Flash Player, so this is it not an official Adobe Flash Player installer.  The official site for download Flash Player from get.adobe.com/flashplayer East.  If the installer does not come from this site, or the update does not update the Flash Player early notification, he came not from Adobe.

    Regarding: "I don't know how that could have been attached to download without knowledge of Adobe."  In fact, this happens, and Adobe is going after these malicious actors who post malicious Flash Player installers.  Where did you download the update from?  I heard (recently) of MacKeeper cela but did not have a URL to pass on to the relevant Department to treat this.  If you have a URL, please private message it me and I'll pass it on to the team of fraud/privacy tracking on.
