Now see my USB key?

I have a Kingston 16 GB USB key. It was connected to my PC. Yesterday I watch a movie of this drive and suddenly the power outage. Now usb drive does not appear. Even the pc beep is not heard when insert a flash drive. Other work fine on my PC flash drives.  What is the solution?

Hello Abid,

(1) did you check the flash drive with another computer?

(2) did you check connecting the other flash drives in the same USB port?

If the flash drive is not detected in the other computer, then it could be a problem with the flash player, I suggest you to contact the support of Kingston.

If the flash drive is detected in the other computer, I suggest to refer to the article below and follow the instructions.

    Hey there.

I have the weirdest problem ever. I have a computer that does not see my USB, other computers but do not see my USB.
Now, we tried another usb key (with usbstick I mean a ^_^ usb flash drive) and he DOES not see that stick! My own stick is a SANDISK Cruzer without U3, just ordinary storage 8gigs. None of the firmware see-as-CD. And the other was a different brand, but I don't remember.

I also tried to plug a very specific device (A P2000 keystrokes recorder, it is a device that recorded incidents, I work for the firedepartment/police/ambulance and it records events), but he doesn't know that aswell of device, as if it has never been plugged in (we have installed the correct drivers for it).

Now, I did some standard troubleshooting (check drivers, drivers of reupdating) and I removed all the usb drivers, restarted, drivers were back as usual, is not yet connect mine but it connects the other stick. My usb key works perfectly well with all computers but this one (same for the recorder to P2000), reupdated and installed, checked and stuff. Ports SHOULD work.

I would appreciate help! Thank you!

    P. S.
More info; It does not take into account the USB and connects anything, even the little blue light inside the usb key does not illuminate. Its as if she was never plugged on. The other has worked flawlessly on the same port, however. And my USB works on other computers. (Ditto for the P2000, but is not on the P2000.)

    P.S.S.
I guess my computer-type is too relevant?

  • USB key used in iMac unrecognized by any other device

Hi all, I recently encountered a problem using USB keys with my iMac 2010 10.11.3 running OSx.

My iMac will recognize UBS sticks and allow me to save documents and files for them, but when I insert into any other device (e.g. a few friend PC and Macs, professional printers to Officeworks etc.) the USB stick is not recognized and does not see the same on their system.   Then when I insert the USB in my iMac, it is recognized immediately as well as its content.

Before that, I was able to share files and documents with family, friends and clients on USB with no problems at all.

I tried a variety of different USB keys (old and new) and what is happening to all of them, whatever the brand, age, size, etc.   Is produced only for a few months and at first I was in denial and thought that it was my friend PC, but now I see that it is certainly a problem with my iMac.  He may have started happening around the same time that when I upgraded to IE Captain earlier this year.

    Any ideas please?

    Thank you.

The fact that this happens with different computers suggests that the problem could be the configuration.

Go to Applications/Utilities/Disk utility. Insert your flash key and look at the settings. It may look like this:

Everything on this list must be verified. While you're there, see if your USB is correctly configured:

  • I would like to add a folder of photos on a USB key for time machine backups

I have a new time capsule, and I am attaching a USB hard drive that previously held some my time machine backups and all my photos. I would now add the photo of backups auto time folder machine on the time capsule. But in time machine preferences I don't see the folder or the USB key. Although I can see the USB in the finder as well as the time capsule window. I can copy and paste the photo time capsule file it's just I wanted to time machine for backup for me. Any help much appreciated.

The time Capsule is what we call a 'network' of the road, so when the USB is connected to the time Capsule, which would make it a "network" drive as well.

Unfortunately, Time Machine is unable to back up a 'network' of the time Capsule drive.

If you want to save the data or the USB disk using Time Machine drive, you will need to connect the drive directly to your Mac and then it will be saved with your Mac... assuming that the drive has been formatted for Mac to Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Then, the player will become a "local" drive

If you need to keep the USB connected to the time Capsule, the only way to back up data automatically on a schedule would be to use a commercial program like Carbon Copy Cloner or ChronoSync.

  • copy my favorites in a USB key

I want to copy my favorites on a USB key, so I can access one or more of them while I'm using someone else or a public computer. I don't want to copy my profile because it may be one time only use.

Thank you very much for the help.
I have not seen your response earlier, so I opened internet Explorer, use file > Import Export and imported in "Favorites"... so, now all I have to do is copy them to the usb port... I like the way they are listed in internet explorer, because I can see the individual pages, I have bookmarked (or added in Favorites) directly on the usb and simply click on the one I want to use.
Thanks again and have a great day!

  • How to get my pc to see my USB drive to boot from it?

I'm on a HP Pavilion G7 2251dx. I have created a disk UBS I want to start from to test an operating system (running on a live version directly from the USB key) I don't see the USB in the boot options when I hit Esc, then F9.

Thank you. Give me the right answer.  Unfortunately it's also the wrong answer.

UEFI is the new type of Bios has my system. Because it has Windows 8 installed via OEM there secure boot by default. I wanted to be able to continue to use this new type of best of the bios with operating systems, I have install to double, triple or quadruple boot with Windows 8. The answer you gave me drops disables the new UEFI bios functions and causes me to use Legacy Bios. (The standard Bios, we're all used) Now, many systems don't have this possibility to manually switch between the two types of Bios. Because I can disable UEFI mode, I'm lucky. This will give me the feature I want, but I wanted to compromise for not having many features UEFI.

I did research this problem for 2 days now.  When you buy a new HP with Windows preinstalled 8 UEFI and Secure Boot is enabled by default. Microsoft will not HP or someone else make a system with Windows 8 installed if these conditions are not met.

The problem is what fat you screw up if you want to dual boot with Windows 8 right now. There are ways around this.

You can be yourself to always go into the bios settings and manually switch between mode UEFI with Windows 8 and Legacy Bios with operating system not windows. It is a big pain.

You can hope that your operating system of choice has a work for UEFI boot loader and some do, but now, most are not. Or you can hope that your operating system of choice to get a secure Microsoft startup key that allows you to dual-boot with Windows 8.

None of these options are good right now at this early stage, and there are really only two options. (1) not to buy a Pc with Windows 8 preinstalled by the OEM. OR (2) Swtich Legacy Bios mode and do not use UEFI. This will allow you to use the other for dual boot operating systems as you served to in the past.

It's sad, they try to impose UEFI when it causes more problems than it should be at this stage. UEFI there really interesting features. We just have to wait until the industry grows and everyone gets with the program.

Personally, I hope someone hacks system key UEFI and start secure because I don't think it's right for Microsoft to have to deliver the keys to start safe for people who want to dual boot with windows 8. This is my system, it's my OS, I should be able to have complete freedom and do with them as I want. If I want to write an operating system from scratch and install it, I should be able to along the coast of any other OS, I installed it and no one should have to give me permission to do so. And Microsoft charges you $ 100 for this key also. Much better just to let UEFI disabled and use the Legacy Bios mode.

Welcome to the HP Forums! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

Thank you for posting. I read your post and I understand that when you create the recovery media, it stopped and gave you the message of the one copy can be made. I wanted to help with that.

Due to licensing restrictions, you can create one HP a computer recovery solution. This message appears when the recovery media has already been created. If you bought a previously used computer or store but the computer was already open, then recovery media has probably been created before you bought the computer and this message is normal. If the computer is less than a few years, then you will probably be able to get a HP recovery solution. There might be a fee according to the status of the security of the computer, the country / region the computer was purchased, and the condition that generated the message. For more information, see looking for USB HP recovery disc or HP recovery discs?

  • For some reason, none of my 3 USB keys on my laptop recognize any connection. Help, please.

It is a follow-up question. My external drives appear in the section work stations. I can access them by along w / the files on it. It's a question that when I'm going to try to send items to readers (all 3 ports) do not recognize that there is a link there. Then, when I click right on and down to ' send to ' drives external hard for these ports (3) none of them don't introduce yourself here indicating that there is a drive attached to it. Therefore, I'm unable to send files to / them. Any port I use at this time.
Is there a place in my computer, where I have a check to see if I have inadvertently disabled?

It is a supplementary question that I asked yesterday. Involving essentially the same thing. Then I asked how to send files to my external as disc it does not see the the "send to" when right-clicking. I received a reply and it worked. But it is simply to create a shortcut for the command in the file send to.

Since I have now come to realize that this is a problem w / all my readers and it's true, create shortcuts for each reader, that I finally hang up the USB hubs will work, it's kind of just put a bandage on the main issue. Problem being, why aren't my grateful USB keys when there is something related to them.

They have worked in the past. And the only way that they recognize that everything is connected to them is now for me to create a shortcut in the folder send to. Once again, the problem is with Ports USB works not as it should.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

  • How to: retrieve files incorporated in a Vista Easy Transfer Wizard USB key

Original title: How can I recover the files embedded in a Vista Easy Transfer Wizard USB key

I was trying to use the restore function (integrated in drive D) HP system on a laptop computer to restore the image to that at the time of delivery.  I had used Windows Easy Transfer Service to place all the files of the user on a USB key.  I'd just take the default value (I thought) selection which included files on the D drive.  Now, after the restoration of the image, I can't get the file transfer function works as it crashes when you try to replace D.  I need to recover the files to user directories in the old C drive, but I don't see an option anywhere in the process, to do this.  Surely a way, I can tell it to ignore the files on drive D.

I was not able to complete the full implementation of the solution Dell Direct USB key due to various problems.  .    Dell ended up sending me a new Windows 7 HARD disk image.   I have now the laptop up and running again with Windows 7 and have various applications installed.   That's all pretty well.  But now how do I get my data files restored?   Basically, I want to connect the external drive to backup and complete step 19 of the solution, as described below.

Here are the steps OS using the Dell USB key:

    1. Boot from the Direct USB Key by tapping F12 at the Dell logo, then select the
USB Memory Key option from the boot device menu.

    2. Accept the Dell End User License Agreement (EULA) by clicking the box next to
Accept, scroll down till the end of the license agreement and then click on
    continue.

    3. On this screen, the usb key gives an overview of the process it is about to
perform, click continue when ready to proceed.

    4. The Smart Repair solution runs a surface scan on the system to identify any
errors with the boot record or the startup files. If any errors are found, they
    are automatically corrected.

    5. Once the process completes, there will be an analysis summary, in this case,
there is no issue found by the smart repair, click continue.

    6. In this window the user can select what data they would like to back up, they
can either go with the default backup solution or they can click select more to
select more files for backup, click continue after selecting files for backup.

    7. If user clicks on select more, they will get the screen below, they can go
ahead and select the necessary data for backup by checking the box next to the
respective folder, sub-directories are selected by default once the root folder
    is selected.

    8. The user will be prompted to attach a USB hard drive to the system, user
needs to connect the USB Hard drive at this point and click continue.

    9. Once the solution detects the USB hard drive , it goes ahead with file
    backup.

    10. Once the files are backed up, the solution will back up the user personal
    settings.

    11. The Direct USB Key displays a summary of the data and personal settings
    backup. Click continue.

    12. The Direct USB key then proceeds to install the operating system image on
    the system.

    13. Once the operating system image is transferred, the drivers are also
    transferred.

    14. After the operating system image and driver transfer, a summary page comes
up giving the user information as to what process was performed successfully and
what failed. The user needs to remove the USB key at this point and click
    restart.

    15. The system restarts and comes to a flash screen on recovery and restore.

    16. After the flash screen, the applications start installing.

    17. Once the applications are installed, the user would see a summary screen
informing them that the Operating system has been restored, connect the Direct
    USB Key and click restart.

    18. After the restart the user will be prompted to connect the data backup hard
    drive and then click continue.

    19. The files and personal settings are then restored from the USB backup drive.

    20. After the files are transferred the system comes to the desktop with a pop
up window informing the user to check the device manager for any exclamation
marks, the tool also guides the user to download the drivers from the support
site and the applications from My Dell Downloads and Dell Digital Delivery. User
needs to select the check box to prevent the message from being displayed again
    and click close.

What program/utility can be used to run step 19 to restore my data?

    Thanks in advance!

  • BitLocker without TPM refuses to recognize the USB key at startup.

I have a Windows 7 PC, I'd need to BitLocker, but it fails to recognize the USB key at startup. I've resorted to skip verification and now enter the recovery key every time you start (this PC has a lot of data on what should be confidential), but it's not ideal.

What is curious to me, is that the computer will start perfectly fine from a USB key, or produce a message of type "non system disk or disk error", if the USB key in question is not bootable. So it is not a matter of lack compatibility USB BIOS. When Bitlocker should read, yet there is no actifvity on the USB key. It seems to just try to read the empty floppy drive then give up.

The PC is an all-in-one RM with an Intel D915GX motherboard.

I tried two different USB, 64 megabytes cheapo player drives I usually use as a Bitlocker key and a 2 GB Cruzer Blade. I mucked with some of the BIOS settings but not in a particularly organized way. And I checked the key file is saved on the disk. Everything I did, Bitlocker will not always see the USB.

  • 2.04 Ubuntu comments on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7 can't see ext4 USB drive

Comments from 2.04 Ubuntu on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7: on computer A trivially, I connected to an out-of-the-box 64 GB USB drive formatted for VFAT on Ubuntu in a VM. I re-init'ed the player for ext4 (mkfs.ext4), mounted, drop a bunch of stuff on him (which took awhile), he dismounted and walked away. The next day, identically configured computer B, I inserted the USB key. Natch, Win7 may not go up because it does not ext4. But Ubuntu don't see either, so I can't be installed. Do not see under removable devices, no small icon bottom left of the screen of VMware, nothing in the settings menus or properties, etc. I think it's just me being a noob to VMware, but it seems that Ubuntu under VMware Workstation 9 cannot see the drive unless Win7 can go up. Seems unlikely. KB searching, Googling, etc. produce many unrelated things. Ideas? AdvTHANKSance.

Here is the final answer: works great on an earlier version of VMware Workstation 9 on one of the Windows 7 of my client machines, it didn't work on my Windows 7 computer. I upgraded to VMware Workstation 10 on my Windows 7 computer, and now it works perfectly. If I call you this a bug in this version later 9 which was set at 10. Could also be had I simply uninstalled 9 and reinstalled which would have fixed it too. But I'll never know.

  • USB key came into read-only mode

    Hello

This morning my USB key came into read-only mode and I can't reverse this trend. I just assumed to come from the third party who helped me write on NTFS, but I have a drive HARD Toshiba (NTFS) that works and a USB key that is read-only. I changed the third party software and the same result. I tried the option 'get info' and I still do not see the permissions.

I tried to format the drive - because it is read-only won't let me not - it. And so on.

I tried disk utility - no result.

I need an idea, suggestion, something for it to work.

    Thank you.

When some Flash storage starts to falter, it locks in a read-only mode. So, it might be failing.

When you try to format the drive, you must select the drive itself in disk utility, not partitions. If that's how you try to reformat, so I guess it's a failure.
