I received the same mail only a few minutes ago and click on the Web to verify its content, which is how I found this thread.

Then I searched the Netgear site and found this page which describes how to enter the Web page of your router and check for any firmware (or the actual, since even business communications with typos sometimes escape in nature) updates for the router:

  • SOLVED: Slow wireless internet passthrough after firmware update

If I first bought a Nighthawk in July 2014 and it was great for a while. Then in the notice happened a few months my streaming services are jumping and more than usual buffering (which was almost never with the Nighthawk).

I have a connection of 110Mbps (Comcast and through a SB6141 modem), but all of a sudden was only getting 10 Mbps (or less) passthrough on 5 G wireless band (at the beginning of the speed test would sometimes up to 50 Mbit/s, but on a few seconds would fall to nothing..)

Cable speeds were very good. Always 110Mbps +. Tried several different channels and factory reset the router, wireless speed was still slow. Connected to the Netgear website and submitted a support ticket within 2 hours they sent me with an RMA number and the next day a new unit has been FedEx would be for me. Support rep Tech says it's a problem of material known in some units... I was super impressed with the customer service, it was seriously a no replacement of hassles that took every 15 minutes of my time.

EXCEPT when I got the replacement router in the next few days, he had the SAME PROBLEM. As soon as the new router is on and I'm connected, I've upgraded to the latest version of the firmware, done a factory reset and down Speedtest. And I had the same problem: speed internet passthrough on all my wireless devices has been terrible. Less than 10 Mbps when I have a connection 110 + Mbps. (Wired speeds were great, it was not a problem of modem or provider).

Again contacted support and they asked me to download the latest firmware on laptop and upgrade the router manually, do a factory reset before and after the upgrade. They also told me to try to disable WMM (made no difference speed passthrough, but lower my laptop connection between 433Mbps to 54Mbps speed!).

I tried this... still slow passthough wireless speed.

The only thing that has changed since I first got a Nighthawk in July 2014 (and I've run speedtests then and had a speed 110 wireless + Mbit/s at the time), is that the firmware has updated several times... makes me think...

I downloaded the Netgear support the past 5 versions of the firmware for the Nighthawk. http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/R7000#sear...

I then manually downgraded the Nighthawk to each previous version (do a factory reset before and after each installation) and ran Speedtest every time. Once I have got down to the R7000 Version - V1.0.3.24_1.1.20 (released 12/02/14) and ran a Speedtest, the PROBLEM has BEEN RESOLVED. Speed wireless devices (laptop, HTC a M7 and iPad Air 2) were all back up to 110Mbps or more!

Hope this experience helps someone else... If your are affected by the passthrough slow internet speeds and it is not your connection speed (i.e. radio parasites) that is the question, there seems to be a serious problem with the latest latest versions of couple... Try downgrading to the R7000 firmware version - V1.0.3.24_1.1.20

UPDATE: Yes, I actually tested the speed with several different devices (a laptop HP HTC a M7 and Nexus 9) each on 5G band, all compatible with the latest updates ac. I also used a few test sites of different speed (speedtest.net, comcast speedtest, cnet speed test), not had the same result all devices and hosts.

However, I actually got in touch with Netgear L2 support for the last month... beta test a few different versions of the firmware of the Nighthawk and even spend more than an hour on the phone one night with a nice guy who told me he was on an island in Southeast Asia, part of the Philippines... This is where Netgear technical support is to halfway between China where they build them and Taiwan where engineers are. After trying all tweak he could think for an hour and not get better speeds wireless, he finally dropped out and wished me a Merry Christmas lol. Not one of these beta firmware made a bit of difference, and I hate the hours that they made me screwing around with them!

    BUT today, they released vR7000 - V1.0.4.14_1.1.50 http://support.netgear.com/product/r7000

And to my surprise it actually worked! Not only my high speed wireless is returned (120 + Mbps)

    http://www.Speedtest.NET/my-result/4078979293 (laptop)
    http://www.Speedtest.NET/my-result/a/1131321713 (nexus 9)
    http://www.Speedtest.NET/my-result/a/1131332778 (htc a m7)

but also my Seagate SRD0SD0 previously incompatible (3 TB) USB 3.0 external hard drive works now, too. What a bonus! The reason I bought the Nighthawk was to use as Server DLNA and the monster external HD I picked up 6 months ago only was on the long list of those incompatible with this capricious router.

But now everything works (at least for now).

P.S. Maybe it's in my head, but I swear to you that since the last firmware update when running speedtest now or file transfer (while heavy streaming) I can hear the router doing a greater slope electric buzzing/hissing noise is a little disconcerting... I'm not sure my brain fried by overclocked wifi will be worth a high speed in the end...: eek:

  • Update firmware for wireless printer?

I recently bought a LaserJet CP1525nw.  It is NOT light and it is located in a central area of my house.  It has integrated wireless and I have a wireless connection to it.  One of my PC is an HP and its pilot of routine updates check revealed that the new firmware is available for the printer. The firmware update description says that it can be run successfully on a network or through a USB connection.  Of course, my "network connection" is wireless and I have heard in the past that the firmware updates should be made via a wired connection only.  On the other hand, I have never had a printer that has been designed to operate on a wireless connection.

So my question is... is it safe allow the update of the firmware to do wireless, or do I need to connect the printer via USB?

    Thank you...

I've updated my cp1525nw, wireless, no problem.

  • on printer_what wireless firmware update will allow to connect a cable to screw?

Instructions for JO 8600 Pro n911a HP says the firmware updates don't work for wireless connections.  Using Vista x 64.

That I have not found, this is what can happen when I plug a printer already implemented wireless with a USB cable or ethernet.  And how many ways can he screw up my installation of the printer?

Nothing is mentioned in the manual on this printer support page or the user on the CORRECT way to change from USB wireless or ethernet - TEMPORARILY, updating of the firmware; then return wireless - w/o problems.  Which is not a common question?

In addition, I don't see a way to say positively what firmware version is later.  The versions are different, but not like xxxxx100 & xxxxx105.

First characters of the firmware & a to d/l are the same; last digits of the current FW are 1150CR. There is no date for the installed FW, anywhere, I looked.

Version more recent d/l is 1304AR.

I've seen a lot of files / names of the drivers where the last 2 characters - CR & AR - would be more wrinkle is that the 4 last digits are higher on the d/l version; as this is a new printer.

    Thank you.

    Hello lostsowl,

I think that we are on the same page.  I was using different terminology for the same thing.  I use the word 'install' to mean 'add printer' or 'other connection of installation.  A printer can be connected to a computer through different types of connections.  Each type of connection would require a separate installation, although you can use the same software.

Looks like you have made a reasonable decision.  If I can do something else to help, let me know.  Nice day!

  • Photosmart C4780: HP Photosmart C4780 Firmware Update Fail

I downloaded the updated of the "C4700_FWUpdate_4362_HPCOM_v1" firmware, but every time I try to install the wizard says that my printer is not connected.  In fact, it is connected by USB cable and wireless.  I can print to it, printing and scanning doctor sees and checks that it is OK.  The HP Digital Imaging Monitor reports that it's OK.

The printer is running its original software and works OK, except for the occasional low response to the control panel entries that this firmware update addresses.

My Device Manager shows all the correct drivers OK and my control panel shows the printer OK.

    Any thoughts, please?

You won't be able to reflash the firmware now. Looks like it is ready to be discarded. Time to buy a new printer, I'm sorry.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Premium Firmware update

    Hello:

Known issues with the recent firmware updated for Officejet Pro 8600 Premium of CLP1CN1150CR to CLP1CN1322CR?

I created the shortcut on the desktop and have printed the presentation and installation Instructions. The printer is connected locally (via USB) to my PC from main office (where I do the upgrade). And I will follow the instructions to make a break my firewall (KIS2013).

It looks like a simple process, but flashing firmware & BIOS updates on material/mobos make me always disgusted.

So I'm just now - inquire in advance - of known issues with this particular update or the update process? Thank you!

    Well, too bad.

I guess it is "resolved", I advanced and performed the update.

I pause my AV/Firewall during installation.

It took about 5 min or less via a USB connection.

Also, I restarted the computer after being full, like the phone that recommended technical support, even if restarting is NOT listed in the instructions.

It seems to have been successful.

    Thanks anyway!

P.S. for anyone who needs to do this, please don't forget to read the instructions, in particular the warning to the 8600 a connection to the computer via hard wire (ethernet or USB), no wireless. (I don't know if the update could interrupt or not, or if the printer would be damaged if we tried to do wireless).

  • The WAG200G (EN) firmware update

    Hi all

I just bought this marked wireless modem/router "manufactured 01/2007", so I think it is wise to update its firmware?

Now, looking at the "Download" section of Linksys I found 2 versions newer than my WAG (dated 17/12/07 dated 04/04/07 1.01.04 and 1.01.06), then:

-How do I know what version of the firmware of my WAG is currently equipped with?

-Should I upgrade versions one after the other, or can I put it directly with the most recent version (1.01.06)?

The available Linksys download updates are coming as zipped ".img" files: how to treat?

Thanks in advance for your answers,

    See you soon

Hi, go to your admin. modem...

    (a) open Firefox or IE

    (b) type 192.168.1.1

type c) in your router username and password

default user is "admin" password is "admin".

    (d) glance at the upper right side of the screen, there is a small description that says "firmware version".

You can see what version of firmware you are on.

If you want to update, download the latest firmware in a zip file. Unzip the file to your desktop.

Assuming that you are still connected, go to Administration > Firmware Upgrade >

You will come to a screen where they ask you to order the location of the new firmware.

Browse until you reach the firmware (its an img file that you have unpacked above).

    Select upgrade

my humble opinion... just use for your new WAG200G for now and check if the current firmware update is really necessary.

his his works well, the authorization would be.

    Thank you

  • WPSM54G - firmware update issues

When the upgrade of the firmware on the WPSM54G, should I wire the printer directly server on my computer?

Because the print server is connected to the router now, should I, instead, my laptop wireless to the router, and then do the firmware update?

Finally, should I reset the print server after you update the firmware?  If so, how do I?

    Thank you.

You must leave the print server that is hard wired to the router when you reset the print server... WPSM54G works on the DHCP protocol, you will get a test page that displays the IP address of the print server after resetting the print server... You can use this IP address for re - configure your print server...

To reset your print server, disconnect the power supply of the PrintServer. Press the reset button while you use adapter of the PrintServer. Continue holding the button of reset for 10 seconds, then release. This will reset the password, wireless and other parameters on the PrinServer, the default values. In other words, the PrintServer will return to its original factory configuration.

I would recommend not not to update the Firmware, if your print server works fine...

  • 5520e "Device not found" firmware update

Product: HP Photosmart 5520e printer all in one.  Check the hard drive, and driver seems to be: Photosmart-5520-series_v12 - 2.23.0.dmg, which I believe is the most recent.

Problem: The firmware is not updated?  Happens in this way while troubleshooting problem try to scan.  I remember correctly, the error message with the sweeping question was a communication problem that was confusing because the printer and the computer communicate very well via USB for printing purposes.  Since turned off direct wireless and use the router and can now scan the documents.

Using an iMac running 10.6.8 that is physically connected to the printer via a USB cable, and now also via a wireless router.  Am able to print and scan documents.

Downloaded the latest firmware on computer.  When you try to do the firmware update got error message: device devices not found no. requiring an update of the firmware could be found.  If you think that there is an error, make sure that your device is turned on and properly connected.  -What is this error message telling me that it cannot find the printer, OR, it tells me that the firmware is up to date.  Latest firmware date of 2014-03-28.  I probably can't do an update in the last 6 weeks.  Is there a way to check to see what firmware currently installed?

    Thank you.

Try the steps below to print "printer status Page.

  • LaserJet cp5225dn: laserjet cp5225dn firmware update is possible on network?

I want to update the firmware on my Laserjet CP5225DN 2013. Instructions for downloading that the printer must be connected via USB. But when I run the exe firmware on my windows 10 desktop, it finds the printer on the network.

I can possibly ruin my printer when trying to run the update of the firmware via the network instead of via USB?

In order to run the update via the USB port, I have to carry the desktop PC to another from one end of the House.  All laptops that we have are macs, and the update of the firmware only works on a PC.  I expect a professional printer to be easier to manage than to require a USB connection, but I dream?

Thanks for any help you can provide, as the warranty has expired for a long time.

    MJ - lee

The instructions are as they are for a reason. Wired connection for firmware updates is always better. If wireless has been used and the wireless drop in the middle of the update, your printer can be roasted.

  • Issue on Photosmart 7520 firmware update

    Hello

I just got my new HP printer today and it is a HP Photosmart 7520, which is optimal.

I was looking online and I noticed there is a firmware update in the support section.

My question is my printer has firmware ELM1CN1409AR and the HP firmware site is ELM1CN1320AR. Is my most recent firmware or the one shown on the HP support site?

My firmware is older, should I update the firmware or just to leave things as is?

I'm not having problems with the printer from now, but I always check all drivers and firmware all my products.

    Thanks in advance

    Fred

as long as you are connected to a computer via USB... I doubt that you will experience the problems that are reported SIGNIFICANTLY on the 7520.

As you saw in my post that you referenced, with a USB connection, the problem of intermittent scanning/printing moved not.

In addition, please see my entry in the post depending on the current firmware version vs what HP has posted on its support page:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-networking-and-wireless/7520-won-t-stay-connected/TD-p/3954900

the version currently installed on your printer, ELM1CN1409AR, is the last (at the date of this post) that any printer 7520 connected to a router will be automatically updated.

However, please note that for those of us, using a wifi connection from the printer to a router, the firmware version ELM1CN1409AR has not resolved intermittent connectivity issues.

    PS Windows 7 x 32

    Well...

Has decided to 'take the bull by the horns' and remove the impressions and all HP software.  A lot of ghosts and files left behind so had to use regedit to clean up junk and the C:\system32 goto and delete all the driver files - what a mess.

Started from scratch and utility installation found the printer and I also decided to abandon the bad software wireless connection and went with another Ethernet cable to my HP printers...

Now this printer works - the back to try to get my LJ1022n to stop the perpetual printing from my wifes computer...

  • I got a firmware update today for my dnf 1536 MFP, but it cannot locate a device to update.

I got a firmware update today for my MFP 1536dnf printer but it does not find an updated device even if the device is properly connected to my network and able to print from my computer. I use an Apple iMac Intel with OS 10.6.8. I tried to connect the printer directly to my computer via a USB cable, but the update still can not find a device to update. I buy my machine in November 2011. Is it possible that she already had firmware updated?

    Expensive, sunroof

If the device does not appear when using the update of the firmware with the printer connected wireless or USB it could be a problem, but the printer may already be aware.

Of course, we can check the version of the firmware on the printer by looking at the configuration report.

For the configuration report, press the setup button on the front panel of the printer (it looks like a key) > reports > report config

Compare the firmware for the number on the HP site for the printer by clicking on the link below.  At present it shows Version 20111215 on the Web site.
