  Looks like you have a big, or very busy, spreadsheet. Numbers of automatically recalculates with ANY changes made to a table. With large amounts of data, several header or footer, or an abundance of formulae lines, the recalculation can take cyces processor and time (which generates heat).

  'Big' applied to the numbers begins long before she does so with many other spreadsheet applications.

• Click event of mouse by the numbers

  Howdy,

  I'm looking to make a seemingly simple formula in number but can't seem to find a way to do it.  I want a series of cells that are pre-loaded with the NOW function to fill the cell with the current date and time.  I want the shutter to a click of the mouse that will populate this cell.  Without the mouse, click in the cell would remain blank.  Seems simple enough but I just can't find a way to do it without including the type java or python, which I don't want to get into this coding.  So just ask if anyone might know an easy way to accomplish this, or at least a direction to look in...

  Hello!

  I just finished my first 'Real' Applescript to do something that I thought was pretty simple.

  It took me 5 days to figure it out!

  In any case, I regularly create new documents of numbers whenever I make a deposit in cash for the accountant of campus

  (I am a teacher/middle school band Director and am constantly receive payments from children for t-shirts, uniform band, travel expenses, etc.)

  I tried for years to find a way to compile all deposit slips in a single document to keep track of who paid for what during the school year and I always ended up having to manually copy and paste the data of each doc in the main list (last year I had more than one hundred different deposits slip files in a folder on my desktop).

  Long story short, I discovered Automator and Applescript a couple weeks ago and have been playing with them. Who would have thought that these tools had been all the time on my mac!

  If someone (much more qualified than me) could take a look at the code, I am come with below to see if she is healthy, of if there is a more effective way to achieve this, I very much appreciate it!

  The code works for now, but if there is something or any weakness that could break it in a future update, I would like to know about it.

  First of all, if the script works for you, then it's good enough

  Even experienced/veteran AppleScripters can spend a lot of time to 'perfect' scripts, so it is important to balance the how long it will take to arrive at a solution that is "perfect".

  If you're looking for pointers that might work "better", here are a few thoughts.

  First of all, your script depends on literally copy and paste the data from the source file for the master file. I'm never a fan of this approach. All works (clearly), it is prone to error and changes the State of the system - not sure if what was in the Clipboard the script at startup has been sought, and the operator (if it wasn't you) do not doubt that the execution of the script would change the contents of the Clipboard. In general, I think it's better to reference the data directly ("set data2Copy to (get the ranks 1 to 37 of table 1...)"), although it works for now.

  In addition, your script is depends somewhat on the specifics of the source and master files. There is no error checking that the source data is valid before you copy it.

  On the same topic, you have a significant amount of code to check if the column 5 is empty. I would consider doing this check at the front - in other words only copies the data you need, rather than copy more and must clean up afterwards. Once again, the details of this function a bit on the data.

  Finally, for the moment, the script runs on a single file at a time - opens the source file, opens the master file, copies the data, close the files and closes way unexpected numbers.

  What happens if there are multiple source files to process? You can consider a loop through the files, the copied data and closing/smoke right at the end. That would save some time.

• To edit a cell, Numbers Help said to double-click on the cell

  I can double click on a cell, constantly, but rarely the insertion point appears.

  Try adjusting the double-click speed in system preferences > accessibility:

  

  In general, I double click at a rate that is roughly 5 clicks per second. If you are double clicking too slow then numbers can interpret this as two simple clicks rather than a single double click event.

• After you restore an image of my system drive, my tasks and events disappeared. Help!

  I've restored a backup image on my C: drive. Everything looks good except all my events and tasks have disappeared from the calendar!
  I understand that this data is included in my profile, but how do I get my events and tasks and put back them in the calendar? Are the import and export of functions expected to be used to provide backups of my events and tasks? Shouldn't they already appear in the calendar after the restoration of a system disk?

  After a lot of messing around, I think I solved this problem.

  The problem occurs because of an incompatibility between certain values in prefs.js vs values in the data table cal_events.

  I copied backup prefs.js (containing the 'calendar') related lines in the current prefs.js and now everything looks OK, I can see my tasks and events in the calendar.

  The lines looked like this:

  These long numbers must correspond to the values of the column. cal_id apparently if they do not match, they do not appear in the calendar.

  Mine does not, so I corrected the values in the prefs.js file and everything seems to go fine now.

  I still need to find the cause of the incompatibility, I think it was something in the way that I restored the disk then run MozBackup to restore my backup Thunderbird.

  I found a lot of information here how to calculate the difference in time between two events. The application I'm working with has a strange time resembling the export:

  

  The date looks like jj-mm-aa which I want to turn the date in dd-mm-yy format for easy sorting and I want to have the time difference in hours and minutes between two events. I thought the first thing to do is to extract the time information, then transform the date into the aa-mm-jj and calculate the time difference from these two. Can someone help me with this?

• Composition of the phone numbers with pauses and extensions?

  With the Pre, is it possible to insert pauses and extensions in phone numbers in your contacts list? And have the phone to dial them all at once when you compose?  What to do to have these numbers in your calendar for an event such as a conference call?  I would like to simply touch the number to the event and do all numbers with pauses and extensions to put me in the call.

  To insert a two-second pause in the dialing sequence, enter a T where you want than the break to appear. To include a stop in the numbering sequence, enter a P where you want to stop to appear. to call the next set of numbers after the stop, press the screen.

• Sharing service does not work in Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Photos and calendar

  Among the interesting features that I used for a while is the ability for a large number of Apple applications, such as Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Photos to share content using the "Send a copy" feature (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) or 'Share' (Photos). Unfortunately, these sharing services are no longer works for me in any application, and they have not been for several weeks.

  So what happens is, for example, when I'm in Pages and I select 'Share' icon in the menu bar and then "send a copy" and I select "Mail" (or all the options on the list besides), it gives me a dialogue window asking me the format I would like to share (Pages PDF file, Word Doc etc.). When I choose an option, a process that happens in the background that is supposed to send the file to Mail, open a new message, and then add the file as an attachment. However, in my case, the process seems to get stuck somewhere because the Mail opens not with a new message, but Pages continues to think that he is trying to send the file via mail because all options of sharing are grayed out. So that I can continue to work on the document, the sharing feature is no longer available and that I must leave the Pages and then relaunch the application. This same behavior happens in Numbers and Keynote trying to share a document, and this regardless of the application that I'm trying to share it with.

  This type of thing happens in the pictures when I select a photo and try and hand using Mail, except in the case of Photos, I can't continue to use the application and I need to force quit and raise in order to work again the application.

  Another note, which I think is related, is that when I get an email in Mail that has a calendar attachment (file here) and I double-click the attachment file, it will open the calendar but the new event may not be listed or available to add. I enter the information manually.

  In troubleshooting, I rebooted the computer several times and I have also checked my preferences, extensions and to my knowledge, I don't have any installed third-party extensions (there is no third party extension that appear under the option 'All' on the left side). Short to wipe my hard drive, and then reinstall the operating system and all my applications, I don't know where to look to try to solve this problem. Also, I can't identify any specific event (installation of the software, updated software, etc.) that causes this problem to occur. I also tried to connect to a guest on my computer user account, but the same issues were present in the user account guest that I described above, leading me to believe that it is not a question of corruption within my user account, but rather an entire system.

• Control the Structure of the event with text file

  I'm new relativaly in LabVIEW (experience only about 2 weeks). I am currently control a stepper motor using a structure of the event. Similar to the sample code given by LIFA, I entered my settings how the engine not move away, then press a button on the windows before, and it works this way. I also have other equipment that works as well in LabVIEW, as a transnational step; all components operate individually.

  Now, I'm trying to make the more automated system and to ensure that all the different equipment work in the same code. So, I tried to implement a structure of the event using a text as an input file to try to control events. The text file has a table 1 d of numbers going down vertically (only the line numbers change). So, I used a table of index function to take the numbers one by one, use a loop (while loop in this example) to go to the bottom of the column of numbers. However, the event not register the change, even if the indicator shows the value is changing.

  Attached, it's my test code and the text file that I use to try to control the structure of the event. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thank you.

  Oh, now I understand what you tried to say. I'm using a loop and a case structure to activate different events with the entries in the table. I thought case structures and event were the same, but you taught me the event structures are used just for the façade stuff. Thank you all!

• ActiveX - Reg - led event reminder

  I'm building a control for a Laser machine which based its controls in the ActiveX control technology. I had a program in c# that works, but I have because I wanted to change the settings and then connect it to another program Labview, I "translate".

  I start with a very simple operation:

  1. 'Start' ActiveX Server
  
  
  2. "load" a design for the laser.
  
  
  3. program of the "end".

  and then based on event (using the reg event reminder):

  If the "QueryStart" laser signal is activated by a switch, then "run" program.

  I have problems to light a led by using the ref (LaserStartedLed) VI. I'm using as a model the Labview example: CWKnob to see a number from the button. But in this case, they use the numbers from the button, in my case are just Boolean, and I try to get data from common event.

• User event draw a graph

  I have LV2010 and try to trace a user on a stream event. When the user presses Post Event, the same data gets plotted as X (with the help of the plot-style) in red. See attached VI.

  The table has two plots-Num and event. The plot of Num is a 1 second plot continues to random numbers. The second plot is an event of conspiracy with (line X-style plot) and drawn only when the Post event is pressed. The x-axis of the waveform is set for minutes.

  The problem is, when the event Post is pressed, all the data points are highlighted with X-style plot and I want data that a single point at the time highlighted with X-style plot.

  A version that does what I think you want is attached. The waveform of the event has a point added each iteration, but the value is NaN (not a number) unless the button is pressed. These points with NaN value will not appear in the field, only those with added values when the button is pressed.
