  I uninstalled and reinstalled several times now and run all updates from Adobe. For the life of me, I can't get all the PAGES appears in InDesign CS3 5.0.4. I am running OS x 10.6.8 I full registered CS3 Creative Suite. I can create a new DOCUMENT or BOOK, set up the page numbers amounts and sizes and margins, but then nothing happens. I have all the tools and open windows, but in the PAGES Panel there is nothing and everything is greyed OUT do not allow me to ADD more or REMOVE pages. Master Pages are not displayed.

  Anyone experience this before?

  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  Hi, I have an InDesign file with about 14 pages, and I often need to export different PDF files, being selective with the pages that I don't understand. For example, I can make a PDF of pages 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. It of pretty easy, but when I open the PDF file in Acrobat or Reader, this program continues to consider these pages to be numbers 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10.

  Let me note that there is no page number visible on the pages themselves, and I don't want there to be. It's just at the top of the screen, in Adobe Reader, he said '8' in the box beside where it says 4/5. And also under thumbnails I scroll the document.

  You can also access this feature of Acrobat by using the advanced > Document Processing > number of pages.

• Index not not totally fulfilling in InDesign CS3 - Desperate!

  I work in InDesign CS3 and have created a book of 10 files.

  I went through every file and highlighted a number of party and you click New page reference in the Index dialog box.

  The part number then appears in the Index panel with the associated page number but when I click on generate indexes and ticked all the boxes and generate the index entries do not appear in the index is created, even if I can see them in the Index panel.

  I have a book containing about 15 documents in InDesign CS3. I work on a Mac OS X and a PC with XP home. The PC did a great job of page - it has each of the chapters of the book pallate, both in the document. I use 'start page numbering on page x' to the first document in each of the two sections and "continue the previous document number" for each of the other documents. The problem is that when I go to the Macintosh, the numbering is not more automatic a document to a document, and each document in the pallate book now lists the pages in the document (1-28 if there are 28 pages, even if the numbers start at 73) and I need to "go to the x number" for each document to make it work. Then when I go back to the PC, it's messed up here. I'm on a schedule very tight - I would appreciate help with this. Thank you.

  I purchased InDesign CS3 in April 2007 and downloaded on my computer. I've been using prog. Since that time - no problems.

  Finally, the machine is dead (as they do), and I need the prog. on a new machine.

  You can install and activate the perpetual software (purchased) two computers of the same type (mac or pc), as long as you use it on one at a time. (lightroom is the exception because it is a product of multi platform, so it can be installed on the pc and mac platforms)

  It is advisable to disable the software on a computer on which it will be is most used, especially before giving away or selling the computer or reformat the hard disk. Please see this link: How to disable the software.  This frees an activation if you have the option to install the software on another computer at any time.

  If you do not have access to your old computer because you have replaced a hard drive, upgrade your operating system to format your computer before turning off your software, j or dies, you can ask Adobe Support for help you disable from a machine, that you can not access the computer. • Problems importing .inx in InDesign CS3

  Hello everyone,

  I'm Luana and I'm a translator. Has been for many years one of my clients send me the InDesign CS3 files to be translated.

  I export to .inx and import them in Trados, then, after translation, I re-imported the inx file in InDesign and save them. Always successfully!

  Now, I'm facing a problem: when importing inx. in InDesign, the last two pages document is empty, but they should not (there is text in there). The text is in, I don't know because I translated it, but unfortunately I can't view in InDesign, it is hidden.

  Do you know how to view again?

  Check the story editor view and search a text right after the indicator of excess. It's usually something preventing a break line that is too wide for the frame, a too big for the frame table cell, or a Dungeon option that prevents the text to appear.

  I got my Mac reset, but it does not accept the backup file I did of Indesign CS3. I looked online and I tried to download Indesign CS3 from these two links, but keep this error message:

• Index of InDesign CS3 crash/quit

  We have a file that was created using InDesign CS3 on OS X with an index, but it is now crashing: If the text of the index is changed/deleted it crashes and closes. Even tried to remove the index pages real did the same thing. The file does not open at all in CS4 and crashes/closes unexpectedly that as well.

  We tried the following:

  -removed the index markers in the document and update overview

  -removed manually in the component of the index of references

  -remove all other pages other than index and have isolated the issue to something in the content of the index.

  There seems to be conflicting policies after checking.

  Everyone comes through what we need to use this file as a template for another, but are slightly paralyzed with this issue of the index?

  How embarrassing, it seems running CS3 on an Intel Mac, as well as it does on a PowerMac. But oh so much faster.

  So, in any case, the easy answer seems to be Pages > move Pages in a new document, excluding your problematic index pages.

• How to restore good export PDF from InDesign CS3 or CS5 in Snow Leopard?

  I had no problem to export to PDF from InDesign CS3 files (on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.4) until last weekend, when all the fonts appear bitmap or thin and rough, and the images lost color depth and contrast. When I copied the InDesign document to my MacBook Pro laptop, also running 10.6.4 the PDF has emerged with its original quality. Support calls Adobe referred me to the incompatibilities between Snow Leopard and InDesign documents. One of these documents was several pages long, but I could not print from the Adobe to my HP website all-in-one Officejet, because one-third of the document was hidden under a white board. This makes it impractical for the troubleshooting document, because I don't have enough screen real estate (even on a 23-inch screen) to let the open document and all the pages and dialogue boxes needed for reference. Back to the phone and chat support, I was told to upgrade my Creative Suite Premium CS3 to CS5 ($ 800!) and buy the updated Acrobat Pro ($200), with no guarantee that this cost of $1,000 would actually solve the problem. I downloaded the trial version of InDesign CS5, and it has NOT solved the problem. I am also afraid that the problem did not exist before last weekend. Before that, my CS3 and Snow Leopard combination worked very well. Then I checked the forums and was appalled by the variety of issues related to PDF files, for which there seems to be no general solution. Meanwhile, I have hundreds of ads, I'm supposed to be prepare and e-mailing as evidence PDF to businesses nationwide. I have two books of 120 with 256 pages to be submitted to printers in PDF format with all kinds of fonts and files image belonging to my clients.   Hi people,

  I just had my Mac fixed on the Apple store, but now reinstall it wiped all my descriptions of printer from InDesign CS3. To try to put them all back up I have the configuration of the printer and the Page pop up menus grayed in the print dialog box. It is not allowing me to add my printer descriptions.

  Does anyone know how to access the pop-up tabs greyed so I can reinstall my PPDs

• Using InDesign CS3, cannot "file > place" to insert anything

  I use InDesign CS3 on a Windows XP computer. When I go to file > place to insert anything (image, PDF, text, whatever), the dialog box import a VERY QUICK flashing (if fast I see nothing but the shape of the box) and crashes then InDesign. Also having the same problem with file > open. All the other options under the file menu seem to work well.

  I tried scrapping the preferences file, but that did not help. I have a 15 page PDF that I need to get into InDesign immediately and do not understand anything.

  Paste is NOT a good option for anything other than the simple vector art you would like to keep editable within the code.

  Just because you've seen the average flash dialog box doen't it did not move off the screen or behind something else. Try to hit the ESC key and see if ID wake. Which would indicate that the dialogue was still active and accepted the command "Cancel". If it works, the problem becomes how to find dialog box.

  When the dialog box disappears try pressing Alt + space, then M, bar which should activate the arrow keys to move a dilog which is at the edge of the screen. Press the arrow keys 20 or 30 times in one direction and then twice more that the other way to see if you can find the dialog box disable one edge or the other of the screen - it is just try it and see approach. Opeing a dialog box in Photoshop and resize, he was also known to cure this kind of behavior from time to time.

  And if you have multiple monitors, try to run at native resolution, if they are flat screens.
