NVIDIA vgx k2 + C240 + UCSM

Dear all,

We have a UCS C240 M3 servers connected to two 6248UP FIs configuration.

We have installed grid VGX K2 NVIDIA cards in servers C240 and when we goto Server > adapters in UCSM we see only the map of VIC (VIC 1225).

VGX card is installed in slot 5 PcIE and VIC card is in slot 2. (Server type is v01)

Infrastructure firmware is 2.1.2c. A. Server firmware is 1.5.1.

How can anyone see the information about card VGX UCSM.

Thank you

Indika.

Indika,

In UCSM version 2.1.2 we have not the ability to identify and present the card in UCSM.  This feature was added in 2.1.3.  2.1.3 under inventory server in the Hardware tab, a GPU tab has been added and the map of K2 on this tab.

    My configuration is:

    (3) data C240s to a pair of 6120 s, all 2.2 (1 d) running. The C240s have an SD card installed, as a SSD and 7xSAS readers for VSAN. I set up my service with a policy without RAID local disk and FlexFlash enabled profiles. I applied a startup from the CD/DVD and SD strategy.

With these settings, Setup ESXi (5.5u1) only sees the drives internal 2.5 "and did not see all of the partitions out of the SD card. I tried to replace SD in the boot with disk Local order, changed mode inherited in uEFI and searched in the BIOS to see if I could force anything that might reveal the SD card as a media startup, all to nothing does not. I put the scrub policy enabled for FlexFlash and re-copy one of my servers. What Miss me?

    Hi Brad

Are you using Cisco brand sd cards?

If this card Cisco try the following steps, we must first synchronize the SD cards before they can be detected. (see the word document attached for screenshots)

    1. Create the policy of scrub to scrub the FlexFlash only
    2. Assign to profile service in question
    3. Re-recognize the server in question
    4. Wait for the ACK re fill 100%, you can check this on the WSF, note that the server will restart and the process will require a shallow discovery and a new association of the service profile. (Note: step 33 on the WSF will show you the process of purification of the FlexFlash.)
    5. Once completed the re - ack, disable the flex flash of politics of scrub cleaning
    6. After saving the changes, re - ack the server once more.
    7. Wait for the restart of the re-acknowledgement from the server, you can also press f6 to load the boot option, while the server is restarted, here should see the HV partition
  • vGPU, being not recognized in Windows (but visible of all kinds in the Device Manager with!)

    Hello

I hope I found the right place to ask this question.

Im trying to configure with network cards K1 on esx vGPU 6 and windows 2008 R2.

I managed to get the GPU passthrough works fine but I want to continue vGPU (last n more)

That's what I've done so far.

Installed esx6 on Cisco UCS C240 M4 (CPU value high performance max flow and mem)

installed the last grid VIB Manager

    NVIDIA-smi reports 8 x 4gig GPU

Using the vmware webclient service, I create a virtual machine and assign it a profile of vGPU (180 in this case). He tells me that I have reached the maximum number of devices of this type (google was not helpful about this message).

In the vSPhere console, I see a PCI Device 0 added to the new virtual machine, it is said he has not supported with a note saying "this virtual device type is supported but support it is not supported on the current host... »

When I install windows on this virtual machine, I get a yellow! on the standard VGA graphics card with error device cannot start Code 10. Any attempt to install NVidia drivers cannot complain that it cannot detect the graphics hardware.

The thing is, I'm sure I got this work before, but now it feels like Ive hit some limits as suggested by the message "maximum number of devices.

I tested using vmware 5.5 and 6.0 tools

Any suggestions aside from just rebuild again?

Hmm, it seems that the comment on the unsupported PCI device may be an effect to use instead of the web client vSphere client. I created a new virtual from Windows 7 machine and used the provided in the package VIB of nvidia driver and it worked. In the console PCI device said still not taken in charge. I will try to update the driver in our w2k8 server now.

Update: Yes, it seems that I used the wrong driver package. It seems that I can have tried to use another driver which I suppose was for use with vSGA or pass through.

nothing to see here, move along

  • vGPU/ESXi 6.0 "hardware GPU is needed but is not available."

    Hello

I have problems turning on a virtual machine configured with hardware 3D rendering. It throws an error "hardware GPU is required but not available. The virtual machine will not start until the GPU resources are available or the virtual machine is configured to allow software rendering". I shrugged the 9 to 11 VM hardware version, just to see if it has made all the difference.

I looked around and different people have had different problems but brave people here ask the same info, so hopefully provide below will help.

    Ah, ok.

'material' in the VM configuration means vSGA, which might not be obvious, but it's like that.

To use vGPU, you must add a new device to the virtual machine and select the vGPU profile that you want to assign, you must set the graphics in 'software '.

    Hi all

I'm unable to use the client console after deploying machine put in common, I see a black screen.

Master image work of the console very well and when I connect via the customer direct access overview and breath all work very well.

I have a virtualized environment based on vsphere esx 6.0, view Server 6.1 and Nvidiia vib file NVIDIA-vgx - VMware_ESXi_6.0_Host_Driver_346.42 - 1OEM.600.0.0.2159203.vib (for cards NVIDIA K1).

Once the NVIDIA driver is installed and enabled, it disables the display of the console, so this is of design and a sign of properly working config.  Direct connection is the right way to proceed, not RDP as this will bypass our driver.

Of course, I have it works very well, but with a Quadro2k and a Quadro4k.

Take a look in this whitepaper for instructions, be aware that it is not fully supported yet and you might have to tinker a bit to make it work.

I'm trying to set up a server with the installed VIC 1225 C240.

    Matt,

The VIC 1225 is fully supported as a stand-alone card outside UCSM and by default it runs in the classic Ethernet mode which means that it is compatible with any standard IEEE 10GE switch.

The VIC is not supported in Slot 1 in the C240, he is supported in Slot 2 or 5

    All,

We have been a customer of vSAN VMware 6.0 for the last 6 months of our environment entirely on servers of Cisco C240 M4SX with the Cisco 12 G SAS integrated Raid Controller.   Everything in the environment was working well until we started to bring in data warehouse loads in the environment and began to notice performance around latency of disk and most important issues still outstanding IO high.  After that ESXtop and ESXCFG examination we found that the length of the queue announced to the adapter ESXi has been only 234 however the VMware HCL Announces 895; 234 is below minimum spec of 256 to correctly implement vSAN.  We have worked diligently with VMware on it to try different versions certified and non certified driver async for this raid controller in addition to the most recent firmware for the raid controller.  Regardless of the change of the depth of the queue remained 234.  The presence of FBWC affect the depth of queue announced to the operating system?  VMware support has indicated that it is clearly a problem "hardware".  Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

    Greetings.

Had the chance to spend some time in the laboratory and removed the cache module.

After that, I now get "207", so I would say it's confirmed that 1,2,4 GB cache modules are used to increase the depth/length of the queue for these controllers.

    (1) open the Control Panel, uninstall a program. After the loading of the list, click on the column heading "installed on" to group infections, I mean additions by date. This can help the undisclosed items bundle smoker who snuck out with some software, you have agreed to install. • in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
      firefox.exe "about:addons"

In the left column, click on Plugins. Set essential and unrecognized plugins 'never enable '.

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. Remember that all extensions are optional, none come with Firefox.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any improvement?

    (3) you can search the rest of problems with scanning/cleaning tools listed in our technical support article: Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware. These scanners on request are free and take a long time to run. If they end quickly, especially if they require the payment you have a serious infection. I suggest the specialty forums listed in the article in this case.

    Success?

Then we can work on the restoration of your normal settings.

  • 3D "" on"" (nvidia Control Panel) crashes thunderbird if closing a thunderbird menu item. 3D off the coast? Thunderbird works again.

Well plant? "If the opening of a thunderbird menu item and close, you get a"not responding"" WARNING and the only thing to do is to close the program. Windows 7 can't find a solution.
    This is just a warning.
It took me a long time until I discovered that it is 3D. (reinstall a virusscanner, a point of restoring 3 times and a full system image)
I realize there are not many people using nvidia 3d. So I don't expect any change by programmers.
O, the first time I also had to restart windows after 3D ' "" No idea why it was that the first time.
I already pulled the 3d module (what the hell he was doing there?) but that did not help.

Hardware acceleration has been such a problem that the 38 coming version has a user interface in the advanced options to enable the use of hardware acceleration on and off voltage.

Until then, it is the same job https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1012145

  • Update NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT for MacPro

    Good afternoon!

I'm looking to upgrade my video card. Right now I have:

    Mac Pro

    El Capitan 10.11.5 OSX

    2 x 2.8 GHz Quad - Core Intel Xeon

    32 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB

Becomes the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT for Mac a better choice?

Based on the linked web page below, in my view, the 8800gt would be a decent upgrade.

  • How can I know what NVidia drivers are in el Capitan?

I'm trying to find the best combination of price and capacity for a video/graphics card to go in a Mac Pro 5.1 running el Capitan. NVidia seems to be the best choice for my type of work, but how do I know if the drivers from NVidia are integrated to the el Cap? I know that there is a possibility of losing the bootscreen, but what video advice may work in a Mac Pro on el Capitan?

    You can download Nvidia drivers:

    http://www.InsanelyMac.com/forum/topic/306535-NVIDIA-Web-driver-updates-for-El-c apitan-implementation to date - 01202016.

Presence or absence of a splash screen depends on the firmware on the map because during startup, no drivers are loaded. The start screen depends on the firmware on the card. A card flashed to a Mac has a bootscreen

  • lost the external monitor feature: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M video card needs to update the driver in El Capitan?

    Hello
Apparently Apple no longer supports the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M 256 MB and did not update the driver in the operating system to account for its recent update Linux (below)? What is a macbook pro user to do? I know my MBPro is now 5 years - but with an i5 and 8 GB of RAM I think I shouldn't need to take immediately for new?
Running any video seems to disrupt communication between my Vizio E240AR and MBPro - El Capitan OS (with NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M 256 MB).  Power cycling the monitor and then force the MBP via a modification of the resolutions seems to temporarily improve the issue - until I have run video or insist on graphics card memory.
