Obsolete spare HARD drive

Hello

I just sent in my iMac (mid 2010 model) store The Machines (Malaysia) for repair because I can't start the machine to load to the end, it freezes it with a white screen. After 5 days, the shop said that the HARD drive is faulty, but Apple does not carry the spare parts for this model more because it is obsolete. No alternative is provided.

1. Apple is using a special HARD disk or can I replace it with another model?

2. I still can't believe that the HARD drive is obsolete. Is there any 3rd party companies that display yet of the party for the previous iMac model?

Thank you.

  1. You can install the HARD drive you want on your iMac. It is possible to replace yourself, and just get a HARD install disk. OWC is a good place to get a hard drive for iMac-> https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/internal_storage/hard_drives_and_SSD?_ga=1.25500 6030.735377268.1455117871
  2. The HARD drive is not obsolete, but is your iMac. Recently, Apple has considered the two late 2009 and mid-2010 iMacs "obsolete" in most countries, so Apple provides no technical support for them more. However, as I said before, you can always try to fix the iMac yourself.

  • Spare hard drive stops tray and rubber for X 201

    Hello

    I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X 201. Due to the nature of my job I am frequently necessary to start a variety of operating systems. Recently I moved Ubuntu on a spare HARD drive to protect the integrity of the BONE, so now I have two hard drives - one that start in Windows 7 and another that starts in Ubuntu. The problem is that if I connect hard drive via the USB port to start Ubuntu, it's slow death and I had cases where the hard disk has developed bad sectors because the USB cable came loose and disconnected the disk. The only other option I currently use is to manually exchange internal hard disks every time I need to change operating systems. I was wondering if I can buy a platter of spare with her rubber mounts hard drive so that all I have to do is unscrew the cover of the drive Bay (one screw) and swap discs rather than to have to unscrew all and and screw on the other HARD drive repeatedly.

    Could someone please provide me with a FRU number for all of the SATA HDD assembly (less the HARD drive itself, of course, but including rail rubber).

  • Hard drive failure immanent - have spare hard drive to install, but you need to know how

    Reading "HDD error" message says the hard drive is about to give up and I need to save - great - I have a spare hard drive that I can install - now the question is how can I transfer my copy of vista64 from a hard disk on my machine to another drive on the same machine.
    Yes, I saved all the documents vital to an external hard drive.

    Hard drive manufacturers normally provide their software websites of cloning to what you want to do...

    And there are 3rd Party Software to do you buy:

    http://www.Acronis.com.au/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/

    Or try this:

    How to get Vista recovery Media.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • What spare hard drive do I need?
    Hello
    Thank you for viewing my post. I really appreciate any input.
    This is my first time, replacing a hard drive. That comes with the computer has gone wrong and told me that I need to replace it. I thought it would be nice to replace rather than buying a new computer.
    I have a HP Pavilion 23 all-in-one desktop computer. Model # 23-1014
    What replacement hard drive would be a better solution for it? Also, where can I get the recovery disc for the computer? I need them both.
    Are these 2 elements all that I need to fix my computer?
    Thanks again for any help.
    Kind regards
    Stephen
    You are the very welcome.
    It would probably be a good replacement for your PC:
    Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual
    See page 5-7 for the removal and replacement of the drive hard. It uses the old IDE PATA aka to hard disks that are becoming hard to find. Unfortunately, they are also stupid expensive:
    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=9SIA0AJ17B5685
    The least expensive is located at 4200 RPM 40 gig for $100. Above is a 60 GB 5400 RPM for $120. Frankly the laptop isn't worth much. I doubt that HP still has the recovery disc for him, but we can find a download of a version of Windows XP OEM and you should have a key Code for XP on it.
    If HP is defined recovery you can get to it here:
  • Maximum size in the pavilion 1325sa g6 spare hard drive
    I have a Pavilion laptop g6 1325 her, bought new in 2012, and I was wondering if it would be possible to install a hard drive of 1 TB or 2 TB of replacement in this model. The user manual gives 750 GB as the larger size, but because the hard disks have to expand in recent years, since the manual was published, I was wondering if it is possible?
    Hello
    You can permanently install a 1 TB drive (maybe liked it, but I never installed a 1 TB HARD drive in a model similar to yours).
    An example would be the HARD drive on the following link.
  • Qosmio G20-114: what are the features of hard drive?
    I just deleted one of my harddrives to my G20 114 so that I can work on my data while my laptop was being repaired.
    My plan was to put in a case of hard drve 2.5 "usb. I was also going to use a spare hard drive 100 GB I need to act as a backup of the operating system drive.
    However, it seems that the arrangemnt pins on the drive, I removed from my Qosmio is different from what I'm used to and it does not seem to hold in the external box. I guess also for this reason that the spare drive I used to fit into the Qosmio. I guess I must be missing something as this may not be the case here. They use some sort of different player in these machines or have I forgot something obvious?
    Thank you very much
    Hello
    AFAIK the Qosmio G20 was delivered with S - ATA drives.
    The HARD drive is fixed by 4 screws on the HARD drive carrier.
    Did you remove this media from HARD disk?
    This is perhaps a question why the HARD drive does not fit into the case.
  • Satellite Pro A120 - Maximum capacity of the HARD drive?
    HI - new here. I have a:
    Toshiba Satellite Pro A120
    Model PSAC1E-04H00VEN number
    It's less hard drive. I have a 160 GB spare hard drive but when I try to install this using the recovery disc, the operation simply sticks on the "Please wait..." message. ». The specification for the A120, I noted that it supports drives of 40 to 120 GB. Which is strictly true and so why can't I just install this 160 GB drive?
    Thank you.
    Hi Lapitup,
    Usually the 160 GB should be no problem because the laptop supports the SATA interface and there is no limit of ability so that you can install each HARD drive.
    Be interesting to know what HARD drive you have installed exactly and if you tested on another computer because the HARD drive itself could be the problem and not on the computer. If the disc is defective recovery disc can t be installed so that you get an error message.
  • Portege 3440CT: how to format HARD drive
    Hi all
    After suffering a little frustration, I decided to use the wealth of knowledge and experience which is available on the support forum.
    I have a Portege 3440CT which has been delivered to my friend a few years ago, by a company she worked at the time. When the company replaced the laptop, we were allowed to keep the old, we use very occasionally. Unfortunately, the laptop has recently experienced a failure total and irrecoverable from the original hard drive, which was not a huge setback because there was no essential data there.
    In any case, I have from a compatible spare hard drive - a Hitachi 30 GB ATA-5 / IDE 2.5 "9.5 mm 4200 RPM, Pt not ' DK23CA-30F - and mounted, but as the hard disk is not formatted the laptop does not see it is there. As I said earlier, the laptop was provided by the employer, so we are not in possession of any recovery disks Toshiba or Windows that may have been provided, the laptop was originally running Windows 98 Second edition, and the sticker detailing the product key is always on the underside.
    I approached one of the suppliers of services of Toshiba for help and they directed me to Toshiba.
    Toshiba says that the laptop is no longer supported so they directed me to a service provider, I went around in circles.
    My question is, if I bought a copy of Windows 98 SE, or Windows XP and installed on the external floppy drive, which would also include a facility to format the hard drive? I think that in Windows 98 Second edition, there was a function of FDISK. I was able to access the pages of the BIOS after looking through advice given here, I can change the order of boot with no problems
    What I request, essentially, is that now, I have installed a new hard drive, what do I do next?
    > My question is, if I bought a copy of Windows 98 SE, or Windows XP and installed on the external floppy drive, which would also include a facility to format the hard drive?
    Yes, definitely Yes! The installation of Win98or of other versions of Windows like W2K or XP provides an option to format the HARD drive before installing the operating system.
    Simply boot from the bootable CD to get this feature.
  • Replacement Laptop hard drive - 12.5 mm vs 9.5 mm (HP Pavilion dv7-4180)
    I am looking to buy a spare hard drive for my laptop and in accordance with the documentation of Maintenance HP (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02666747.pdf), HP dv7 laptop computers in the range 4000-4200 support 750 GB + hard drives which are 12.5 mm height. I searched the internet for a 1 TB hard drive, but I can't find those who are 12.5 mm. Has anyone had luck installing a 9.5 mm HDD? Thank you!
    Hello
    For a long time, they are now thinner disk HARD, 3mm, it's just a great rate of 12.5 mm to 9.5 mm BUT 4 (or 8 screws) must maintain the HARD drive in place. People can put SSDS to DV7 machine then should be allowed to use the 9.5 mm on a DV7.
    Kind regards.
  • Satellite C660-28 d - problem "Load driver" with the new HARD drive
    I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-28 t.
    The hard drive has failed. I called Toshiba Support who send me a replacement.
    However in the meantime I was going to put in my spare hard drive and do a fresh install of another operating system that I have a spare for (Win 7) key.
    However, I can't past the screen "Loading Drivers" as the laptop came with driver disks.
    I can't find the drivers on the Toshiba site (I tried some drivers intel which I thought were good, but he says they were not signed and all comes down to the loading screen drivers).
    I have made the recovery discs, but obviously can not use them on the new hard drive as it doesn't have the recovery partition.
    Any ideas on where I can get the proper drivers from?
    Thank you
    > I made the recovery discs, but obviously can not use them on the new hard drive as it doesn't have the recovery partition.
    If you have a recovery disk using Toshiba preinstalled recovery media creator tool, you just have to boot from that disk to begin the installation.
