ODBC connection endpoint

When an ODBC to Oracle connection is established, when does this respect end? It expires? It remains connected until explicitly terminated? If yes how end you it? If it does not end automatically, how would implement a timeout trigger or something similar to disconnect a connection inactive?

By default, any Oracle connection remains established until it is explicitly completed by the customer. In ODBC, connect with the SQLConnect method and close the session with the SQLDisconnect method.

Within the database, you can specify that a particular user connections should be closed if they were slowed down more than an interval specified by creating a profile in which the idle is limited and by assigning this profile for users whose idle connections you want killed. However, depending on what you're trying to accomplish, this can be a bit problematic. Sessions will remain around in a status of people KILLED on the database server until the client process tries to do something with the connection and may be informed that the connection was killed. Different applications have different levels of tolerance for the sessions killed - if you have an intermediate level that is not configured correctly, killing idle sessions can cause major havoc in the application.

  • ODBC connection remains open after disconnection

    Hello

in my application I use ODBC 2 connects to 2 different ODBC drivers.

    My problem:

When I close a connection (with DBDisconnect), the connection to the database remains open until I close the other.

    Is that a known behavior?

Is it possible to force the closure or to make it independent of the other connection?

    Concerning

    Fred

As ODBC connections are not intrinsically included in the environment of the CVI, I watched the DBDisconnect function and it is said that the DBDisconnect function disconnects the last ODBC database connected. This is the expected behavior.

  • Suspected that the security fix for Windows Server 2008 R2 that affect the ODBC connection.

I use Windows Server 2008 R2 and have been able to generate the crystal report connection automatically through the (System DSN) ODBC for MS SQL Server 2008 R2.

When I perform the security updates below, the crystal report would not be able to generate automatically.

    KB2641653
    KB2667402
    KB2665364
    KB2621440
When I tried to manually generate the crystal report, it prompted me the user DSN instead of the system DSN which I was their use without problems so far.
Therefore, I created the user and system DSN in the ODBC DSN and so able to invite me for connection (System dsn) but not with the ODBC connection id I created.
Everyone has experienced problems connecting to ODBC after this hotfix was updated?
    Thank you.

  • windows ODBC connection 7.

I am using windows 7 32 bit. Can anyone help to connect ODBC. When I tried it says the Setup for the microsoft Access dBase ODBC driver routine driver (*.dbf, *.ndx, *.mdx) could not be found please reinstall the driver. In the next message it is said that the specified dsn contains a mismatch of architecture between the driver and the application.

    How to solve this problem?

    Thks.

    kc_k

Mr. Ramesh K solution in the forum, was good enough to find the solution. I have the same reproduced below.

In an attempt to create an ODBC connection to Microsoft Access for DxDataBook (using the control panel > system and security > administrative tools > Data Sources (ODBC)), I discovered that the only available driver is SQL Server.

To install the driver, Microsoft Access (.mdb), you will need to do the following:

    Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and double-click odbcad32.exe.

This will launch the same ODBC data source Administrator window, but it will now all other ODBC drivers available.

    Good bye

  • How DO I create Excel 2007 spreadsheets ODBC connections?

SAP Crystal reports 2011 and as the sources of data using Excel spreadsheets.

In Report Designer, you create the connection to the worksheet.

While this leads to 95% accuracy, there are problems with the tool CR not actually 'SEE' or 'Recognize' values within some excellent cells.

WHY?  I have no idea.  Apparently, SAP doesn't know either.

SO an SAP expert has suggested that I use the ODBC connection to Excel 2007 worksheets, i.e. this connection will not have these issues.

There is a screen in the CR tool where it can be USED? the connection, but I have no knowledge of the procedure to follow.  Apparently, Miss me a step in actually creating

the ODBC connection so that this CR tool can see it and use it.

  • Report BI publisher with ODBC connection?

    Hi all

How to secure data when we create a report editor of BI with ODBC connection? How can we limit the display of data for different users or where we can control the data for different users?

    Kind regards
    Sam

Also - if you have the UserID stored in the database and you can use in sql something like below

    Select * from table

    where user_id_x =: xdo_user_name

xdo_user_name retrieves the bi publisher user id.

So you have on this machine
-Oracle 10 g client (only) and in another ORACLE_HOME
    -Oracle 11g RDBMS

First of all, the 10g client connects fine to the database 11g

Second, the 11g database includes the base client software, but odbc drivers are not installed by default. You must run YES choose "custom" installation, then select "windows components" in the list of available components.

I never wanted to install the odbc driver as part of the installation of the database . Only on the remote client installations.

What are you really will it achieve?

  • Create an odbc Connection to query a Filemaker database

    Hi all

So, as a test, I have created an odbc connection to a filemaker database (localhost).

Now, I would like to know a way - using PHP to set up a connection to the filemaker database and execute queries on a local Web page.

    The USER DSN = test1

    database = MyDB

Q: How can I configure this connection to the filemaker database?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Theres a plugin here that you can use: http://www.fmwebschool.com/fmstudiopro.php

Also, take a look at article Adobe here: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/creating-asp-pages-using-filemaker.html

On a sidenote, FM Pro really isn't something that I advise to use on the "web", well, unless there is a specific reason that you use it.

  • Installation of the ODBC driver and do an ODBC connection

    Hello

I searched for the 11 GR 2 ODBC driver for windows 32 bit, and I was not able to find it. OTN, I only found up to 10.2 versions. Can someone note me where I can find it?

In any case, I have a database of Oracle 11.2.0.1 on windows server 2003 R2 32 bit ready and two client PCs that need to connect. And I have to make an ODBC connection. Is there a guide on how to create an ODBC connection?

    Thanks for the help.

First of all, you don't have to search for an ODBC driver, you can use the built-in Windows ODBC driver. ....

In windows, go to control panel > administrative tools > data source (odbc)
    and create the ODBC connection.

    Soon :)

  • How to create an ODBC connection to import objects to relational database

Can you please give me a step by step explanatiuon how create an ODBC connection to import objects to the relational database?

    Hello-

The path is relative where you store your files for Oracle. It should be similar to something like this:

    .. \oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN

the 'NETWORK\ADMIN' part should always be the same. If you have difficulties to find, just a Windows Search "tnsnames.

    I hope this helps!
