Office 2007 security updates do not settle on XP SP3. Manual installation with the user account via the Web site to download works. But when the same file is launched via a regular command prompt, it fails again.
When the update is installed manually it can also not be removed from the "Add/Remove Programs" dialog box (as here again the system seems to start the real uninstall process)
Windowsupdate.log error code example:
First failure for update {D12D15B0-9568-415B-8D2D-4CBF40B93C84}, transaction error = 08024200 × b, result MSI = 0 x 80070643, MSI action is CostFinalize
We have this problem on about 10 machines XP (of 300)
We tried things:
Attach it to MS
Office relocation
DARE related things
Chkdsk /r
and much more...
(everything we could find on similar problems)

Yes, you must delete the content in the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. Once you restart your computer, this folder is re-created.

Four Office 2003 security updates will not install
I have four absolutely the Office 2003 security update will not be installed. I tried all the solutions I could find so far short of uninstalling and reinstalling Office. I am Windows 7 64-bit and many of the solutions I found reference XP or Vista, although I don't know how much difference that makes at this point. The updates are KB2289163, KB2284695, KB244978 and KB2466074. Other updates have succeeded since they refused to install after the download, but these four still just won't do.
What are the error codes that are specific to these four Office updates?
Have you tried the advice of the PA bear?You could start a free Windows Update support, but it would be more efficient to just reinstall Office 2003 time.

Since the installation of the latest update on my iPad, I'm unable to type a new address in the address bar of Safari. I can access the Web sites of my favorites, but when I press the address bar Safari closes its doors.
I reset holding home and power button at the same time. I did that 4 times. I also left all the settings.
I am also unable to access the server from imessage. I don't know if these two things are related, but the two that happened after the update to iOS 9.2.1
Since this announcement, I found a Reddit thread that suggests a temporary solution by disabling Safari suggestions. It worked for me.

I tried to install a shortcut to a Web site on my desktop, but when I try to use it, the popup says "application not found". How to solve this?
Have you already installed and unisntalled another browser?
When you install another browser and choose the default installation option, the program asserts itself as the default program.In Internet Explorer, check the menu Tools > Internet Options on the tab programs that the default web browser is set to Internet Explorer.
Go to control panel > programs > default programs and select "associate a file type or Protocol with a program. Scroll to the file under 'Name'.url extension and make sure that the default current is "Internet browser". Otherwise use the ' Change program... "button. »

I experienced this once already in October 09. The solution I used was to manually install each update via microsoft updates web site. Then I noticed that there was a "I agree" to check. No such "I agree" can be found with my automatic updates. They are already downloaded on my computer and I like that I have to install
These updates. When I run install they fail error 646.I would appreciate a solution,

Windows Update tried to install "10 updates important" for several days, and all have failed to install. I have tried everything I can even, at one point, purchase ImproveSpeed that one of the web pages of Microsoft directed me, claiming that would fix it. Nothing I've tried has solved the problem and I've tried everything but manually change the registry which I don't feel comfortable doing so. I spent $ 40.00 for ImproveSpeed and that has not worked... Please, someone, please help. This is nutz.
Bob
Something seems not good.
Agreed.
Did you ever get McAfee Security Center updated (for example, definitions)?
Have you already followed steps #8, #9 & #10?
You have a functional antivirus application (with updated definitions) installed now?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rhea answer Desk technology, was correct: since "Mainstream support" for Vista SP2 ended on April 10, 2012, Microsoft offers is no longer support for security updates. Similarly, MS has not offered this support to users of Windows XP to the last few years. [Yes, this is all very confusing!]
PS: If a technician of the Office of response can not get your problem solved in the first 15 minutes (free), they will want to access your computer remotely in order to help you further (in most cases)- but only after you have paid the Premium support fees. Actually, I was very surprised to hear that McAfee won't charge you anything for their support - unless you had already purchased McAfee Total Protection.
security updates do not settle with error code 8000FFFF
I've got seven updates of security which will not be installed. KB2631813, KB2644615, 2585542, KB2598479, KB2584146, KB2656362, KB2646524. I installed the patch KB947621 and that did nothing. Why these updates won't install? I did not any changes to my computer, and I do not receive and error message.
KB971486-security update will not install is there a manual way to do
We had a remiage on my system and after repair, security for Windows XP KB971486 update will not install I down loaded the manual patch and it will not be installed.
Hi KarenSherman_964,
- What happens when you try to install the update? You receive an error message?
- You are able to successfully install the other updates on the computer?
- You have security software installed on the computer?
I suggest that reset you the Windows Update components by default and then try to install the update.
How to reset the Windows Update components?
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
If the previous step fails, to view the update history for details of failure and after return.
View update history to know which update is not installing.
(a) open Windows Update by clicking Start , all programsand then click Windows Update.
(b) in the left pane, click view update history.
(c) to view more information about an update, double-click it.
Automatic update does not. I have to manually go to the Firefox Web page every time.
Whenever I go to Firefox/subject to check the version, I will be shown what is apparently the latest version and the computer will check for updates, then tell me that Firefox is updated. However, it is never. I still have to go to the Firefox Web page and download the new version of myself. I find this very frustrating, and it happened through a couple of updates to Mac OS x. I'm running Mavericks and just download Firefox 31.
We see this often reported as past on Mac that update does not work properly, and it maintains the skirmish with the connection or otherwise is not updated.
We advice you to download and install the full version in this case.You can find the full version of the current version of Firefox (31.0) in all languages and for all systems operating here:
Windows 7 security updates are not installed
I have Windows 7 Professional. I continue to receive notifications about security updates. I have received several. Sometimes I have 5 or 6 at a time. They download OK, but when they attempt to install, they if at 45% and then stops and then you restore the update. I was not able to install the last several updates I received. What is going on?
You can reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on this page. But if there is malware present, she will continue to reset the connection to the update servers:
How to reset the Windows Update components
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
Suggest you download and save the Fixit. Then configure the system before the clean boot by running:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista/Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.
I suggest before you stop and install the updates, disconnect from the Internet, first.
I can confirm the issue, Sheena. Seems to be OK until it register you. It shows even correct in the libraries Panel, but as soon as you open the file it certainly does not come to the top with the same file. It; t happens once it is authorized. Before she was allowed it worked fine. You can see in the screenshot below the thumbnail in the library panel is correct but the image open in Illustrator is false.
